Prancing format! What happened to ye', Heis?
A funny read though Im not surw what point it serves.I made all of this in notepad.
Sorry was getting food.Any comments?
But his point is unbelievably valid. Exactly how many of them are actual believersSorry was getting food.
It's a really funny take on the kingdoms religion.
I believe that all depends on your definition of a "true believer", everyone doubts their beliefs at some point, it's virtually impossible not to. That doesn't make you a heretic it just makes you human. But his point is unbelievably valid. Exactly how many of them are actual believers

I don't think Luminosity is as authoritarian as you think it is, I mean, even the core principals revolve around self betterment, righteousness, and importance of life. The latter they believe so much in that they don't even kill animals, instead opting for a vegetarian diet. Yes the worship is a requirement of the city, but the religion itself serves to benefit it's worshipers more than it harms them. (at least that's my interpenetration, Jay's not here so I can't say anything for certain)But what if the Church is just too damned dogmatic to consider your humanity? Who's responsible for this madness in the first place? Why haven't the rules been changed for thousands of years?
There's a gap. There's a problem we haven't addressed. And we have to solve it before it gets out of hand. And that's where I have an idea, and I will take it from a story that I developed long ago. God, this is gonna be so good!
What if the Church's beliefs were altered over time and people don't know about it because people haven't exactly been keeping tabs on history. Besides, the current Church would burn evidence of previous beliefs anyway. So in the past, we could have had a benevolent Church of Light that encouraged people to find their humanity, but then when the Authoritarians came in it changed everything. Now, people are forced to submit to the Church's unreasonable demands all because of a change in leadership that many don't even give a fuck about.

And I do think that sounds like a fun plot! It's very intriguing, though my only problem is that personally I'm not a huge fan of the idea that the light kingdom is strictly "evil" in this. I would honestly like it much more to try and play a similarly moral foil to the dark kingdom. I think it's really cool how the kingdom of dark has been put together, they're not bad people they're just a bunch of misfits and outcasts who have come together because the rest of the world has turned their backs on them. It creates a very tough situation since, yes the people in the dark kingdom are good people, but then again there definitely must be good reason as to why they're stereotyped against in the first place. I think it'd be nice to play an equally moral light kingdom, a kingdom where they've only done what they did to protect themselves, their intentions are pure and they simply don't understand that there is such a thing as a good demon.
I dunno, I just always enjoy the idea that there's no real correct answer in this, the world is fucked and it's everyone's fault.
There is evil everywhere. In the Light kingdom. In the Dark kingdom. In the Earth kingdom. In the Water kingdom. In all the kingdoms. The first and most important part in dealing with sin is recognizing sin for what it is.
The Dark kingdom has vampires, humans, werewolves and all sorts of monstrosities in there, and they are only held together by one leader, Desh. And if he dies, and there is no suitable replacement, everything will crumble to dust.... and that's scary to think of.
Just what happened when Desh gathered everyone together? A surprisingly greater measure of peace in all the lands. There were lesser monsters around to deal with because Desh collected them all. Yet why did everyone gather together against the Dark kingdom? Because they thought he was plotting to rule over the world by gathering all the monsters. They did not trust him because he was a demon, and that they believe that demons are up to no good.
So everyone, both good and bad, rose in arms against Desh because of this simple mistrust of demons. Why did so many people have to die? Because he was a demon. Why did so many people hate him? Because he was a demon. Why did everything have to take a turn for the worse? Because he was a demon!
. . . Desh and Walter are not so far apart in that aspect. So many people died because Walter was a bastard. So many people hated Walter because he was a bastard. . .
Well this is a lovely prose.Read this. I think I captured the spirit of heresy in this roleplay with this little short story I made.
==============
Everybody is in a tavern, accusing each other of being heretics. A priest walks into the room and notices the ruckus, and so he tries to get to the heart of
the matter. After listening to their arguments, he concludes that every person in this room holds heretical beliefs.
"So, who's the real heretic here?"
"Technically, you're all heretics!"
"Oh my god, father, don't kill us! Don't burn us to the stake!"
"It's all right, my son, I just caught my best friend fucking my goat and decided that I needed a drink today. This is why you're seeing a priest in a tavern."
"Father, if I may ask, how many heretics are in this town?"
"Everybody is; they just don't get caught. The people being burnt at the stake are either unbelievably stupid or just insanely unlucky."
"So how'd YOU become a priest and why?"
"Me? Personally? Just like everyone else, I basically became an errand boy for the church for a while and then I went to a fancy celebration where some bald guy declared me a priest. And why did I become a priest? I just wanted to hang out with my buddies since they were all becoming priests. Did you know that there are benefits to priesthood? Steady employment, respect and there's even an opportunity to become rich depending on where you are. Of course, there are real faithful people out there, but they're quite rare in number."
"I wonder, why does the church bother to hunt heretics down if there are so many of them?"
"The church only hunts down the big shots and not the small fry. Those bigwigs like to change the church from the inside out and so this kind of thing raises eyebrows. Meanwhile, most people just like to pick the safe option so they conform to the church's demands. With the Royal Army the Church's got, it's not worth the trouble contesting their claims. And the church can't indoctrinate everyone in the kingdom, only the people that are within their reach. So that's why there's such widespread heresy in the Light kingdom. The church knows that, but it can't just burn someone because they don't believe the sunshine will make things better. If that happened, half the people in this kingdom would be burned to death. So we're kind of in an impasse here."
"Just what is a heretic, father?"
"A heretic? Well, the popular definition of a heretic is someone that disagrees with the fundamental beliefs with our church. Almost everybody at some point was one, even the most devout believers have their own doubts from time to time. Problem is that most people tend to assume if you're not worshiping the Light with them then you're against them. I'd say we have redefine the meaning of a heretic or else we'd end up antagonizing folks who are genuinely curious of our faith. Skeptics would be the right term for people who simply disagree with us. A heretic should be someone who contests with the authority of the church and seeks to change it for better or for worse."
"Let me ask again, why are there so many burnings of heretics?"
"Ah, I see now. Sometimes, folks are just eager to accuse each other of heresy because they're either crazy or they're greedy. If they're crazy, and they take this bullshit seriously then they'll probably be ready to burn the everybody alive anyway. Nobody wants to be near those folks. Personally, I think even demons are scared of them. Second and much more common, are those greedy ones. People are rewarded salvation from the sins if they catch a suspected heretic doing 'questionable' acts that challenge the church's authority."
"So in reality, most of the time, the heretics are actually burning each other for salvation?"
"Yes, my son, the world is fucked up. Now I really need a drink."
Well this is a lovely prose.
Why do you think I made a ronin in the first place? I want someone who grew up a staunch believer in something to learn that everyone else has their own faith and that there is no true good or true evil.Gotta admit. Very valid points there. People banded together and attacked the dark because they never bothered trying to understand them. The dark was just sometjing that was universally bad to everyone. Only those that were extremely benevolent and kind hearted wpuld even give them a chance.
Its how the world is. Its always been that way. So it is only through having the power to MAKE people take a second look that everyone started to realize they were not just "Evil demons." There was something more to them. There was something more to these evil, vile abominations of the sun god.
It goes full circle and can be broken down in many different ways. The LK can say they were just defending themselves but who says that demons and ghouls and vampires were constantly launching themselves at Elysium? They were spread across the world. Living by themselves and trying to live. Like everyone else.
One could say that just the EXISTENCE of these creatures was enough cause to exterminate them. Which, in reality, is what the light kingdom believed at the time and possibly still does. That the world would be a better place without the DK and any that would inhabit it. Theres nothing wrong with that. It makes sense why they believe it.
However, it goes so much deeper than that
But nobody every truly believes what they are doing is evil. Even the most ruthless bastard has a method to his madness (As long as he's not completely unhinged, but that's another topic). The religion came to place because people need order, they need rules and structure in their lives, a fair playing field, and who better to tell the people what to do than their creator?I don't believe things are so nice and orderly. You're just lulling yourselves into a false sense of security that way. Deep down, everyone has some evil inside them. This isn't wonderland, dears, this is a world where there is blood and war. People can die defending their ideals as much as they can die defending their realm, defending their family, defending their pride and honor. And people can also die because they deserved it. People can be caught in a war they never started and be forced to fight in it. People can fight in a war for some cold hard cash and for glory.
Wake up. Observe. There will always be things that you will miss. Slow down. Read at your leisure. Let your mind do the work. You can work hard but you can also work smart too. Accept that you will not know everything, but try your best to learn everything you can.
Then you will see. Things you have not noticed before. And then all these things you have noticed will gnaw at your conscience. When you have had enough, you start working on them just so you can have some peace of mind. And before you know it, you've solved the dilemma! What's more is that you have achieved something that has validated your existence. You have done something with your life, congrats.
You close your eyes... and the cycle ends...
The cycle begins anew as you open your eyes again.
This is why I love the morally grey, there's no right answer, you don't get to be the good guy you're just a little less bad.Gotta admit. Very valid points there. Trust me, I'm happy with mine. All I have to say is that there is no right answer, you just have to find the answer that you're happy with.
Trust me, I'm happy with mine.
And fuck I got so caught up in this I forgot to post, see what ya made me do!?
Of courde they dont believe what they are doing is bad. Why would they? Anybody that is willing to DIE. To sacrifice their lives for what they believe in, is righteous in their own eyes and in the eyes of their kin.But nobody every truly believes what they are doing is evil.
