Winds of Anthos

i've played every rune factory except the first one, but i've only beat 3, 5 and the first two acts 4. the only games i've ever really beaten of the others are trio of towns and then animal parade once?

1st rune factory was a blast. I recommend it if you like the series - solidly straightforward plotline. Unfortunately one of my top choices is impossible to marry nowadays without local coop 😔 The Wii spin off (Rune Factory Frontiers) was also fun, though I've never beaten it. I think I tend to be flaky with console games. I really like the character design in those games regardless.

I first watched my cousin playing A Wonderful Life, then started in on playing a Gameboy game on my DS.

Harvest Moon:
More Friends of Mineral Town
DS
DS Cute
Magical Melody (incomplete)
Sunshine Island
Animal Parade (incomplete)
Tale of Two Towns (incomplete)
A New Beginning

Story of Seasons (all incomplete):
A Wonderful Life
Friends of Mineral Town
Pioneers of Olive Town

I'm pretty close to completing A Wonderful Life (married with a teen kid). But I tend to leave most of the games partly finished because it eats so much of my time to play. I need to get back to AWL or Rune Factory 3 soon.
I never got to finish a wonderful life since the game was borrowed. You can grow them to an adult? That would be cool.

Pioneers of Olive Town was beautiful to me. I loved it so much and it was adorable for me.

I hear that though. It takes up time but I think I enjoy it even if it's tedious.

That's a whole lot of farming. I didn't even know there is that much. I only managed to play a couple. I have to catch them all and play 😂 or emulator.

A Wonderful Life is the only Harvest Moon game I can think of with a full timeline progression - where you start as a young adult and end in the final chapter as an old farmer with an adult offspring either following in your footsteps or moving away to pursue their own passions. Not sure yet if my daughter will be a farmer or go to college to become an archaeologist but I'll be proud of her either way 🥲 This game hits in a way few others do, I definitely recommend picking it up again if you get the chance. It's nice that it has a clear end point, though the indefinite timeline of the other games can be fun too. I do wish more would let your child grow all the way up though. Oldest I've seen besides AWL is them becoming a teenager.

I like playing these games a bit too much. I can't play them when I have actual life responsibilities ha ha.

Omg I didn't know that. That would have definitely made me a fan. It would be nice if you can choose how many kids too like real life.

Alas, you get only one, but I think seeing the kid grow up and change into a fully realized individual is probably complex enough. (Though getting more choices is always fun, would love a game exploring your offsprings' sibling dynamics as a feature). It's fun to see how your kid in AWL is influenced by both their nature and the interests you foster in them as you raise them over time. Plus, you also get to see yourself and the rest of the town get older as well, which is something I rarely see in other games. I like that the kid isn't completely in your control too. Games with strong and dynamic narratives are always my favorite.

It's all good.

Question for everyone, what harvest moon or story of seasons have you played? I have played mineral town. My first was on game cube a wonderful life. Played a tale of two towns, harvest moon world? I still haven't processed on that. I think my favorite was story of seasons on play station. I forgot the name

Ah, so for me I have never really played Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons, but I started to watch YouTube videos and stuff to check out the game/lore/story!

I would love to see more realistic life like that and it's a good way to end it if there was an end game and you can always somehow continue just being a young farmer forever but it definitely would be complicated.

What? You definitely got to play if ever you have the chance. Youtube is a good source. It seems a lot of people start or enjoy Mineral Town which is a good start or download an emulator.

There's a post game indefinite gameplay mode that I think you can just keep grinding away at in the Story of Seasons remake. Haven't gotten to that point so I'm not sure what age they set the characters to be for that though.
