I usually wait till the rp starts before plotting to see how the characters get along bug I'm open too.

Hard to say for sure until they meet, but I definitely see Peony getting along with Alani. She likes lively people since they match her energy level and also she admires creative types. Peony probably tries to visit as many local businesses as she can, but I feel like going to the hair dresser would be among her favorite places since it's the perfect place to try out something new and get a change of pace.

Satoshi is somewhat desensitized to excitable people, but finds it difficult to match their energy himself. Outside a professional setting, he'll likely struggle with knowing what to talk to Alani about. He's also the 'haircut once a year' type of guy. I'd be curious to see if they end up getting along better than might be expected though.

Conversely, I can definitely see Satoshi getting along with Carter. Probably because they both have that first born, high levels of parental pressure backstory in common. Whether they'd actually talk about that is another story, but they are both inclined to be reserved and methodical so I feel like they'd vibe regardless.

Peony I think would like Carter and appreciate his practical skills. She definitely respects competence. I imagine most maintenance tasks she knows how to do, but will probably still call him in to help when she's got a big workload. Though on the flip side, Peony can get pushy if she sees that someone needs help with something, so that may potentially be a point of contention.

I'm never completely sure until I see characters interacting whether it makes sense to pair them off. But I'm definitely curious about potential dynamics regardless.

Peony is sweet! I do think Alani would love her (tbh it's not hard for her to love ppl as long as they're decent human beings) and most likely get along! I think her hybrid flower growing would be something that would intrigue Alani, so potential conversation starter to yap about together!

Carter would probably be alright with Peony, especially bc Alani likes her. He would be scrunching up inwardly if she gets too pushy, bc ew what is help? A disease probably. But he'd also see her hardworking nature as smth good, and know she means well. I think he'd probably be iffy at first but grow to like her bc it takes a bit for him to open up with people.

For Satoshi, there could be makings of a friendship. Mostly bc he's quite similar to Carter in terms of personality so I don't think Alani would have trouble talking to him. Though it would border on annoying him a lil since that's what she does with her brother. She's also the type to lose it over a papercut but carry about her day if she accidentally burns herself; so her visits to the clinic would be sporadic to say the least.

And Carter and Satoshi would definitely get along. Someone whose a hard worker and reserved? Man it's like looking into a mirror. I imagine casual silences where there's no awkward/forced conversations. Carter doesn't mind loud people per say, but it's always peaceful to find someone who is on the quieter side.

Since she has highlights in her hair, perhaps she visits Alani's salon to get them touched up? I think aside from that they'd vibe well bc Alani is good with people and bubbly x bubbly is always a good combo in my book.

As for Carter, perhaps if Elora ever needed help with repairs - she calls him? She probably knows how to do most things for herself so not 100% sure, but there might be a thing or two he could potentially assist her with. She seems like such a warm person that I dont think he'd mind her presence/being around her, and just not feed the need to entertain awkward conversation.

I think Peony will definitely respect the hard work it takes to maintain an entire inn, and they're both petty personable folks so I can see them getting along well. If the inn does food service or functions as a bar at night, she's definitely going to try to sell Elora on her produce.

Satoshi I think will get along with Elora as well. Particularly if they both enjoy a good cup of tea. I think they'd have good reason to be interacting regularly if she's had prior health issues, I think Satoshi would want to check up on her often. Up to you if most of her symptoms have alleviated with her move of course, but I think at the very least at first Satoshi would be inclined to monitor her health to be on the safe side.

I'm of a similar mind since it really comes down to the interactions themselves - but I enjoy speculation anyways since it can give a basis for what pretexts characters might interact under.

For instance, I think Peony will definitely be quick on the draw to try to sell her produce to Penelope. Particularly because a good chef can do amazing things with the right ingredients. She's also always got respect for people who do what they love and do it well.

Where Maeve is concerned, Peony will likely try to show support and buy art where she can. Peony herself is more impulsive than she is creative, so she admires those with a creative spark. Plus, she's always one to try to support local folks doing the jobs they want to do.

Satoshi I think will frequent the restaurant since he doesn't often take the time to cook for himself usually (he'd rather be using that time for research). It'll probably become clear that if Penelope hasn't seen Satoshi around, he probably hasn't eaten a full meal recently.

I also see him buying artwork from Maeve because he's read about the importance of aesthetics in establishing a healing environment. Not too sure how much they'd interact aside from that though, but we'll see as the story itself progresses.

You've got such strong characterization, they're both so charming

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how these characters interact. I feel a little bad for Carter and Satoshi since it's like the person who likes to annoy them the most now has a partner in crime who also likes to annoy them. But that's going to be plenty of fun for Alani and Peony at least

Help averse people are also inherently funny to me. The desire to wear that defense to get them to accept help is very tempting

XD that was my train of thought if I ever made a farmer. Also building relationships with the townsfolk. I also wonder what kind of request my characters can give everyone or farmers.

Thank you. I'm still trying to read people's character sheets and get an idea. It might help in editing some things to make my characters approachable. Also a dedicated doctor is mad respect especially if they are the only one doing the work. They have to keep up their health otherwise the whole town is screwed.

I made him ages ago (2016 I think?), but he's definitely based off of the doctor from the first Harvest Moon game I ever played - More Friends of Mineral Town. Or more specifically, he's loosely inspired by that character's story and design. In his original conception, he was a fair bit younger and working as a PA for his father's clinic. So at first, Satoshi's character was about forming his own identity while under the influence of a parent who has unreasonable expectations and pressures him onto a path is not sure he wants. I relate a bit less to that kind of plot now that I'm older, so in this current iteration I was thinking about where Satoshi would go from there if he'd been able to get out from that situation. A bit older and wiser, but still trying to figure a lot out as he goes.

What I have in mind now is someone who would very methodically make an impulsive and radical life change. Very tightly wound because the alternative is unraveling completely. He's the sort of character I find easy to root for. I see Satoshi as an uptight but well meaning guy, trying to keep it together because others depend on him. He's got qualities I find cool or admirable, and weaknesses I find relatable. I'm definitely imposing a fair number of my personal preferences onto him.

Anyways, slice of life is a ton of fun. A great way to play around with characters as the main focus.
