Editing this now actually thank you for pointing it out, I left it in from an old character sheet for the same character I was referencing, but that was a more modern setting.

Syan Is Ironway a port city or is it landlocked?

A river port city, with the Tanith river passing close by. The river is used for water mills and irrigation for the fields outside of the city. The river runs through the entire country, up until the Cantos to the north, and is also used for transportation by shallow-draft ships.

The same goes for you, FujoshiStar , but you can wait a while and join the second group, which is me and Bone2pick , and takes place in the capital. I assume it'll be more politicking and conversations than action, however.

Most of the company is sleeping; there is a mission tomorrow; my character is going to the command tent to discuss plans with the commander ( ThatWhichShouldBe ) and maybe there are new recruits and “other hangers-on” in the tent (who are being introduced to the commander, and can potentially be any character).

Yeah. I can already imagine it. Middle of the mission. Banana peel on the ground. Slip. Dagger in the throat and then blam! Dead all of a sudden.
