RWBY: Old Rites (In Character)

Argent Chatterton

"Uh......." Was all that Argent managed to say. His eyes were wide open, hie ears twitched in disbelief and his cheeks flushed red. Just my type!

"I mean... Uh... Wow I guess...?" Argent gaped, his mind was officially blown now. He's seen multiple personalities but this? THIS IS AWESOME!

"Woah Rendure. That's a pretty crazy Semblance you got there... So I guess you can freely switch between who's in charge? That's amazing! Its like you are your own army and I thought you carried too many guns but this is just awesome! Kinda confusing now that I have seen it but I'm sure I can work with this. I mean I worked with lots ofstrangepeoplebutthisisjusttheicingonthecrazycake!" His speech got faster and faster until its just a sped up jumbled mess. He can't help it, too excited. And amazed. And a little scared now. Argent hoped that Rendure's alternate personality was a touch more stable then Adrian's other self.

@Happy Red Mage

"You...are a strange man..." Rendure said, picking up her sword and placing it on her back. "Yes...we can switch...between the three of us..." She said as she walked over to Argent and grabbed his chin. "Calm...down...you can...go off about all...of this later...we should...get to...the relics now...we can...talk while...moving..." She said as she let go and held his hand before beginning to walk to the relics. "Whenever...I switch...not much changes...about me...I am...still me...just different..."

Joshua walked with Ryuuko in the general direction that he thought the relics were meanwhile keeping an eye out for any other Grimm that decided to crash their party. Surprisingly enough, no Grimm decided to do just that and that was perfectly fine with him. Turning his head to speak to Ryuuko, Joshua began, "So I know you noticed my semblance when we were fighting those Beowolves, but I never got a chance to see yours. I mean we are partners after all so shouldn't we know each others'?"

@Danchou Tsubomi

"Well..." Ryuuko sighed. She was certain that others had better semblances than hers. Supposedly one's semblance is like the user's personality. Some people had semblances that were inherited from relatives. As for Ryuuko...she hoped that her semblance wasn't personality based. "It is a bit strange, but it has its uses. When I use my semblance, I can create ice shaped like a koi. However, it is not very durable and shatters easily, so I mainly use it to strike from a reasonable distance. After a while, the shards of ice gather, and turns into the shape of a dragon. This dragon can attack with physical attacks or ice ones, being able to slow down opponents with its breath. I generally use it for defense rather than offense."

Varien nodded as he looked around the area. "It would appear so." He said before moving forward. "My semblance allows me to control flames in a few different ways. I believe it is beneficial to know how eachother fights. But enough standing around, it seems to me that our objective is in front of us. Shall we?" He asked, gesturing to the temple.

Zion Waters

Zion had just finished slaying four Ursa but it seemed another two were charging towards him. It wasn't like they were hard to kill, but he was certain that he told his Beings to kill all the Grimm near him. As another Ursa leaped towards him, he was prepared to stick his spear through its jaw but it never reached him. A large war hammer smacked it aside and Zoro was behind it, smashing it's skull in before it could react. The second Ursa reacted almost immediately, but it was beheaded by Azir with a single strike. He landed with one knee on the ground, and his sword back in it's sheath. Azir was always one for flashy appearances, but Zion was never going to tell him that. Zion frowned as the corpses of the monsters laid before him. "That was too close. Before you arrived, I encountered four more. Work on your speed please." They nodded and simultaneously leaped backwards, dissolving into thin air. Zion tapped into Kija's eyes to view his progress on the relics' location. He was flying in a circle, high enough so no one else would notice him. He was about to speak to him telepathically but he saw Kija dive down and strike knives into a small pack of Ursa that were coming from the east. He tapped out and ran towards the direction he last saw Yona.

Yonafound his target, the man named Grau but was still not sure why his master would want someone like him. As he ran closer to him, his features were more apparent and in a way he reminded Yona of Zion himself. Grau hadn't seen him yet, so he curved to his left and leaped on the man and leaned his face closer to his to examine him with curiosity.

Cobra

Cobra raised his eyebrow with interest as she rejected his coat. He shrugged and slipped it back on. He still didn't understand what she meant when she said she was 'protected by her bones' but at the same time he didn't really care. He just wanted to get his relic and find his cousin. Leo started taking to the skies with Seraphina on her back and Cobra grinned. He slammed his fist  into the ground, his right arm becoming covered with scales. His agility increased and he was able to jump onto his snake and return his arm back to normal before Seraphina could see it. Leo the snake, made a complete U-Turn and flew at a very quick pace towards the ruins where the relics where being held which was coming nicely into view. As she spoke Cobra closed his eyes and her voice seemed almost soothing. He stalled his question about the deer to think about her. She seemed quite odd, but she didn't seem to realize it either. Was she raised in a basement or something? She hasn't seen a deer? He wanted to make sure the girl wasn't playing with him so he chuckled. "Yeah, I've seen a deer. They're stupid animals though... and very easy to kill."

"Ah so its a semblance that gains strength over time, neat!" Joshua remarked. "I guess our semblances are alike in that we use them for defense, although the downside is that when I use it, I can't really attack all that much unless I use my shotgun." Joshua stretched his arms for a moment before resuming. Otherwise I need to conjure a smaller shield which I can do. "You know, I was talking to one of our classmates about my goal of becoming somewhat of a knight and you know what she said? "I can't imagine a dragon being beaten to death with a hammer" It's just your mentioning of the dragon made me remember the conversation. Although, I wonder what the queen is doing?"

    "Hammers are effective weapons, so I am not sure why it seemed so strange for you to wield one. If anything, I am the one with the peculiar weapon." Lifting up Kinu, Ryuuko closed the fan and tucked it into her obi. She returned her gun to its holster and shrugged. "As long as the weapon does damage, it is fine." She tilted her head at the mention of the queen. "Hmm... other than watching us in some way, I do not know. Are we getting closer to where the relics are?"

"If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say we're nearing where the relics are," Joshua began. "Although, if its anything like the stories I've read or the games I've played in the past, there's always an obstacle to getting an important item, Always. We may not be able to see it, but it's worth mentioning. Enough of that though, On the airship you mentioned you were a big reader and you asked me about the novel I was reading, The Pieces of The Puzzle.

     “Oh, yes. In stories, the reason why there is even a plot is because of a conflict, right? And, in regards to video games, there is usually an intense boss battle at the end. So far, the enemies we have faced were the equivalent of slimes—er, if that fits, anyways. It has been a while since I last played a video game, so perhaps that comparison is considerably out-of-date.” Ryuuko put hands on both her weapons, staying alert of her surroundings. "The book is what would be considered a mystery adventure horror hybrid book by J.R. Treelews," Joshua began. "The premise of the book is as follows, the main character has come to this small town to take a break from his stressful job as a writer. However, after he has settled there, he witnesses a strange mist appear late at night that rumor has it, takes people and kills them. So he along with others has to figure out why, how, and how to stop it," Joshua explained. "I'm only half way through the book myself, but its a fairly interesting read I'll say."

       “Books like that are very entertaining. In this one modern fantasy I read, I initially had not a clue who the murderer was. He was such a kind character, too, but when you looked at the facts, he could not be any more obvious.” Continuing the walk to the relics, a few Grimm showed up. She shot a few bullets at the beowolves and resumed her walk casually, not one to react anxiously. “The killer had to be someone with a supernatural ability, had to be trusted completely even by crime scenes, and had to know the main character’s family by how they sent letters to the location. Who fit this? Well…the cabbage-loving, goofy detective. Of course, it became more obvious it was him by how innocent he had appeared and how much he should not have know. It was still a bit of a surprise at the reveal and—“

            What looked like to be the ruins of a temple was before them. “I believe this is the place we were supposed to go, though…” Ryuuko looked around, expecting some colossal Grimm to swoop down, yet nothing happened. “…never mind, all seems well. Regardless, let’s remain alert.” Slowly approaching the temple, she tilted her head at what were apparently the relics. “Chess pieces? Hm. Perhaps we simply just pick one and wait for what comes next?”

Cup found himself lost in the middle of the woods. No encounters with Grimms was good, but not meeting anyone was bad. He needed a partner if he was going to take more hits afterwards, and he definitely needed someone to watch his back just in case.

"Okay, so no Grimms in range...."

He muttered. He then saw a noticably tall tree, and leapt up the tree. He couldn't see the location of the relics up there, and neither anyone without partners. Actually he saw only trees. Then a shriek, and claws.

"What the-"

A Nevermore has snatched him.

"Not again!"

He yelled. This time it was worse, as he had his gun holstered. The good part was he wasn't grabbed by the shoulder, but by the waist. Then he noticed the Nevermore having a hard time flying. A thought smashed Cup in the head. The one he saw before. He drew his guns and aimed at its head, but the Nevermore did a great job of messing with his aim by flying around like a drunk pilot flying a plane. Cup decided to shoot the other wing than the one he shot before. At least it was a bigger target. He fired his gun, and the round nearly missed as it hit its right wing. With another terrifying shriek, it threw Cup away and retreated, quickly flying out of Cup's sight.

 However, Cup wasn't so happy. The altitude was too low for him to quickly shoot dust rounds from his gun. He just simply grabbed a gravity dust round from the magazine. A temprary flashback passed by. His father demonstrating how to detonate his dust loaded rounds manually.

"Convenient."

Cup said as he detonated the gravity dust round to control his fall. While the fall was safe, the downside was that Cup landed face first, spreadeagle. He stood up, dusted his clothes, holstered his gun, and grunted. Surely the tactic worked, except for the numb hand. When he looked around, he spotted a student walking by, looking away from him.

"Uh, hi?"

He said.

@Krim

"Sounds like a plan." He said as he walked with her in the general direction of the ruins. He turned a few knobs in a certain sequence and flipped a switch, which put the weapon into normal guitar mode. "A good portion of the inspiration on how it works comes from Flynt Coal, who I mentioned yesterday. I liked the main mechanic and decided I would try to take it to the next level, as well as customize it to my wants and needs." He said when she inquired on what inspirations he took for its design. "It took me a number of years to actually make the weapon work like it does out of a basic guitar, also known as the one it currently looks like now." he gestured towards the guitar. "Yeah it is pretty complex, had to get the assistance of a few notable weapon engineers to make it so the transformation methods were stable and the blade wouldn't fold when applied pressure. Still not precisely sure how they managed to do it, but they did it and I absolutely love it." he continued, shrugging.

It seemed for the most part that the two of them had dealt with the grimm in the immediate area, likely due to Grey's auditory distraction. "So, looks like we've got a lull to things, wanna swap some stories or something?" The faunus asked, figuring they could pass the time until they were either attacked next or arrived at the ruins. She leaned down to pick up a rock, gently tossing it between her hands as Alani looked about their surroundings. "Figure we might as well do something to pass the time until the next grimm shows up or we get to the ruins." Alani quipped with a soft sigh before chucking the rock in her left hand at a nearby tree with a resounding 'thmp'. For the most part Grey wasn't so bad, he seemed like a decent guy and was pretty good in their fight. All in all the faunus held him at a somewhat positive perspective. "Wonder if we're going to be put in the same team together.' The redhead's thoughts mulled within her mind as she pondered to exactly whom else she'd be put with in regards to a team and whether a synergy would be formed or tension.

"Uh.. Sure.... can you... maybe let go please..." Argent pleaded, trying to wrench free from Rendure's iron grip. His cheeks glowed a bright red from a mix of pain and embarresment of being dragged around by a girl... Wait a guy... Um...

"So its still you eh, Rendure? I'll call you... Durry. The first guy would ve Rendy. Just... to make things clear I guess? I mean if its alright with you." Argent suggested as he was dragged behind by Rendure.

"Yes, we should proceed." Adrian agreed, walking on towards the temple. As a precaution, she readied her weapon and constantly scanned her surroundings. As the pair approached the temple, Adrian noticed a couple of other students ahead.

"Hm... More students. What do you think Varien? Should we work with them?" Adrian asked, pointing out the two students ahead.

"Hmm..." Rendure said as she loosened her hold on his hand. She was still holding on  though, it just wasn't going to cause him discomfort...unless he was uncomfortable around women. "Durry...Du-rry...Duurry..." She experimented, trying out the name for herself. Moments of testing later she faced her partner and gave a small smile. "Thank...you...for the...distinction..." She said after a few moments. "You're...suggestion...has been...considered...and accepted..." She suddenly lost her smile. "The last...wishes to...converse..."

There was a bright flash of light and now holding onto Argent's hand was another woman, she had long blonde hair flowing freely down her back. She wore something between an armor and a dress, with a thick metallic ring replacing the ends of her sleeves. "Hi!" She said cheerily.

With most students showing up to claim their relics and decide what would come next, an answer to their question soon appeared. A noticeably chilling air whipped around the ruins that facilitated the different relics. Soon after, the sound of a distant slow march followed. The methodical crunch and clash of metal against metal accompanied the march. As the sounds grew closer and the air grew ever colder, strangely there was no sight to match the sounds to. Even as it sounded as if an army were just in front of the clearing and approaching the ruins, there was nothing. Not even a rustling of the leaves.

Koamaru had been making conversation with Agnes up until they found the clearing. Agnes' assumption had been correct. They traveled opposite of the cliff and found the ruins containing the relics. Unfortunately there was something else there as well and he couldn't see it. Other students around the ruins seemed to be wondering the same thing he was. What was making that sound? Gaucho wasn't comfortable at all. His previous demeanor of being playful and excited was now replaced with a more pointed attitude. Gaucho stood poised to jump at moments notice, teeth barred and growling.

Koamaru slowly drew his pistol and let it hang at his side while he waited for some kind of signal. Suddenly, the sounds stopped. Gaucho's growl gained in intensity as it seemed that some invisible army had stopped in the middle of the field. A hard wind blew over the clearing, causing trees to whip around and Koamaru to brace himself against the gale. On an otherwise clear day, this was extremely unusual.

The winds continued to blow, tearing the leaves from trees and making it seem like it could possible be raining leaves. However, looking closely one could see that something was wrong. The leaves were turning shades of grey and black as they traveled on the wind. Not only that, but they stopped in certain places just to blow around in small circles. More and more leaves began being trapped in the small twisters until they began to take shapes of arms and torsos. Legs and heads formed soon after and, most disturbing of all, weapons and shields.

An entire formation began to form with one figure standing at its head. Nothing looked like leaves anymore. The twisting winds and some form of incomprehensible force had now given shape to a human form covered in what appeared to be dark strips of tattered cloth. A strange dark hue hung around the form as if ashes were emanating from it. On the forms back, there were two swords visible. One was large and curved while the other sat at the lower back. The second sword was obviously smaller but of a similar style.

Behind the ashen man stood his army. Knights similar to those at Ozpin's address now stood in a few formation. Instead of standing shoulder to shoulder, there was perfectly spaced gaps between each man. The first two lines held spears and shields in a deadly wall while those behind carried more traditional blades. Unlike the knights seen at Beacon, these did not have shining armor. These knights appeared to have been recently dug up from the mud. Their armor was dinged, scratched, even spit in some places. There was no mirror shine to be seen. The plates had more of a dull grey look where they weren't spattered with stains and dirt.

Eventually, winds stopped and left just the students and the strange apparitions before them standing. The first few lines of knights seemed ready to repel an attack with their spears pointed towards the students and their shields forming a wall.

Koamaru had oriented his own weapon in the direction of the knights. Their appearance unnerved him. There wasn't a single flag in the formation like he had seen at the assembly and he doubted that the queen herself would be taking a stroll through the emerald forest. The fact they they had appeared out of a gale worried him as well. Accomplishing such an entrance was no parlor trick. Had they done something to offend the queen? Had part of her guard just simply gotten lost? There seemed to be no reasonable explanation for what he was seeing.

Without any warning, Gaucho let out a loud, angry sounding bark. Instinctively, Koamaru pulled the trigger on his pistol. The next thing he saw was his shot impacting the helmet of a knight with a loud thud. The obvious hole in the helmet let off a few fumes of smoke before the knight fell flat on his back.

In a single moment, Koamaru's life flashed before him. He had just attacked the entourage of a visiting world leader and more than likely killed him without provocation. He doubted that this incident would be let go as some kind of misunderstanding. No, this would become and international incident. His life was over from now forward, if he survived. No doubt there would be retaliation from the formation in front of him.

With his hands shaking, he glanced down at Gaucho who seemed to have no problems with what had just happened. Turning his attention forward again, he realized why. The knight he had shot was laying just a few feet in front of him with a sword raised over his head. The formation was still across the clearing, so the only reasonable explanation was that this knight had been invisible and intended to launch a sneak attack. After quickly activating his semblance and focusing on the slain knight, he saw what he was afraid of. There were more than just what stood across the field. The entire field was covered in those knights, and each one looked to be targeting them.

"They're not friendly! Not friendly!" Koamaru screamed as he opened fire, dropping a few more knights and making them visible to everyone. Now, knights were fading into sight from every angle and began to charge students with their weapons drawn. Some still remained invisible and looked to be trying to sneak to anyone's back. No doubt to sheath their blade in someones back and move on. To top it all of, the formation at the end of the field began a slow march forward led by their ashen-rag clothed leader.

~Hrm, well the knight piece Im partial to due to my second goal, but I wonder what Ryuu thinks?~ Joshua was about to speak his thoughts on the matter of the chess pieces when a shot rang out in the clearing. Turning his head, he saw a fellow classmate over the remains of what looked to be a knight, except it seemed as though It wasn't one. "They're not friendly! Not friendly!" The classmate screamed as he returned fire. Turning his head again, Joshua soon saw why he was screaming, a whole squadron of knights, much like the one on the ground had materialized in front of them. However, they were not like the ones that he had seen with the queen, they were rusted, their armor a mess, and their formations different. Turning to Ryuuko, Joshua began, "Well I guess here's the obstacle I thought would appear, hone yourself and be careful." Seeing as though these "knights were not human probably, it was safe to use the 00 rounds he reserved for these situations as dust rounds wouldn't cut it. Loading several rounds into the barrel, Joshua conjured a shield on his left arm once more, although it was a size that was big enough that it would provide good defense, but small enough that it wouldn't impede his movements. Placing the shield in front of him and making sure Ryuuko was behind him, Joshua began to walk forward towards the approaching knights. "Be careful Ryuuko!" One knight suddenly began to attack Joshua with his sword, but Joshua simply moved the shield to block the sword. Sure the knight seemed to be strong, but Joshua was stronger as the sword bounced harmlessly off the shield giving Joshua the opening he needed. With his right hand, Joshua brought his arm behind his back and swung to his left as Rolling Thunder collided with the knight's helmet with a loud "CLANG." There was some resistance, but it wasn't enough to stop the force of the blow as the hammer's force exerted enough pressure to remove the knight's helmet, and head, from it's shoulders revealing what Joshua had thought was the case, they were undead knights, but sent to attack them for some reason and the only way that they would stop is if they took out the leader. As much as Joshua wanted to go after him, he still had Ryuuko to look after as well as his classmates.

Varien nodded, resting his hand on the grip of The First Curse. "Yes, that would be benefic-" He stopped mid-sentance, being cut off by the sounds of conflict and the warning of danger from one of the students. Turning towards the source of the noise, he saw a large multitude of knights fading into existence, their weapons dulled and armor worn. "Adrian! To arms!" He shouted before drawing both hand guns. He stood for a moment before pulling the triggers. Fifteen bullets had been fired before he flipped the cylinders open and emptied the bullet casings which were speedily replaced by loaded ones. He counted ten of the knights as they fell, but they were advancing fast. A knight appeared next to him before bringing its blade in an overhead swing down onto Varien.  He dropped the guns and focused his flames in his hands. His palms shot out, one forcing the blade back in a burst of fire, the other impacting its chest, sending it sprawling with scorched armor. The knight was up before he knew it, and he was vulnerable as he crouched down to pick up his guns.

Joshua had stayed behind his shield and used the same tactics as before when he took down the first knight that attacked him, occasionally using the shotgun when two or more swarmed him increasing his body count. The 00 rounds were doing their job splendidly as the knights' armor was shredded from the shrapnel and armor piercing rounds. "Adrian! To Arms!" was heard to Joshua's left as he quickly turned his head to see one student taking out a plethora of knights using what looked to be dual pistols before they fell to the ground as the man used his semblance from the looks of it. However, the student was in trouble as a knight loomed over him, so Joshua pointed his shotgun at that particular knight before firing. The shotgun erupted in a roar of gunpowder as the shot traveled until it made its' home in the aggressor knight's helmet before exploding it like an overripe melon. The knight fell to the ground headless as Joshua simply nodded to the student before turning back to face the horde that was approaching him.

            She kept her back towards Joshua, taking note of her surroundings.

            …did one of the knights just disappear?

            “I’m not any sort of leader, but please place your trust in me.” Opening Kinu, she coated the fan and waved it around. The ice dust covered some of the formerly invisible knights, revealing the nearby foes’ location.  Kōtetsu fired a few shots, which fell the armored enemies. “If we wish to take this force out quickly, we should concentrate our attacks on the same enemies. Anyone with dust-coating weapons, use this to your advantage and find the hidden knights!” Shot after shot, Ryuuko’s enemies collapsed. Why were there so many of them? Was this some insane attempt to impress the queen? Ryuuko gritted her teeth, but smiled slightly. A knight plunged forward with his sword and she dodged to the left. Throwing Kinu at his head, it lodged firmly in the center of his helmet. She reloaded her gun and tensed. What a stupid mistake. Why did she have to act on instinct? Now she would have to go over and get Kinu back and had one less weapon. For now, Ryuuko would continue to fight with just her dagger-gun and used her semblance more often. Ice flew in various directions, shattering when coming into contact with the knights' armor and pierced through.

Pewter stood by the entrance to the relic temple watching the knights on the other side of the field, normally Pewter is pretty laid back but he was getting a weird feeling from them as if something was crawling up his back, and he found himself clenching and opening his fist nervously.

"They're not friendly! Not friendly!" He quickly looked over at the source of the noise and saw some guy he didn't know shoot two of them down... but the two were invisible just before they fell, and he instantly knew why he felt something crawling up his back, if someone has a lot of metal on them sometimes his semblance will concentrate towards them... someone was right behind him. Leaping forward he heard a large metal crash behind him as a sword hit the ground, whoever that guy with the dog is just saved his life. Turning on his heel he shot his right arm out and made them wrap around the knights sword, using his momentum to yank it from the knights grasp, sending the wires back at the knight he brought his left arm up to his mouth and quickly loosened his arm brace as much as he could before sending jolts of electricity to the knight, watching it collapse he quickly turned and ran off towards Lyrika, he wasn't going to lose his partner the day they met, not if he could help prevent it.

It had been a bit of a trek before Alani and Grey managed to get to the ruins with a few of their fellow students already having arrived and some arriving shortly after. The trek to the ruins had been so uneventful the faunus outright recalled Fenris and Lupa not seeing the point of expending the little energy required. Placing her hands behind her head Alani gave a soft groan into the air, obviously a bit annoyed. "Eeeesh, was kinda hoping to get a bit more fighting in. Hell of a rush fighting  for real rather than simple sparring and training." She remarked, kicking the ground a bit before approaching one of the many pedestals that lined the outer area of the ruins and picking up one of the items. "They're...animal carvings?" She asked, perplexed as she looked at the small stone carving of a wolf before glancing at the other various species that sat peacefully on their pedestals. "Honestly expected something a little more...I dunno...'relicy'?" She quipped, tossing the smooth stone carving in her left hand before pocketing it. "Well mission accomplished! Now to just retur-..." Alani's words died down as she witnessed the increasingly abnormal display of weather with the increasing chill to the wind, the wind itself picking up along with that ever increasing sound of rhythmic metallic clanking. "Okay I'm pretty sure I didn't get hit on the head, but I'm not the only one who's seeing and hearing this right?" She called out to the others, scratching her head before gasping softly at the strange figure that seemed to materialize out of...leaves? 'Oookay, so that's a thing now, is this some sort of inclusion to the test?' Alani pondered to herself, watching as more figures materialized with armor reminiscent of the queen's escort but with considerably less maintenance, or none for that matter seeing the outright state of decay of the armored figures before the students. She was wary of drawing her weapons, not wanting to incite retaliation if these individuals were also part of the queen's guard, but something felt off about the whole situation.

It wasn't until the crack of a gunshot rang out that Alani's heart jumped, the blades to her gauntlets extending with a resounding ring of metal as she watched one of the entities collapse to the ground. 'Crap, hope we didn't just incite a political incident.' Alani swore mentally to herself as her body tensed, the knight that was hit just came out of nowhere! The information quickly clicked: there were more of these guys around them, invisible, and possibly surrounding the group to ambush them as their compatriots drew the students' attention. Hardly a few seconds till that first gunshot and all chaos broke out, a few students taking action and calling out to their partners and friends while retaliating as well. About to jump into the fray, the sound of metallic footsteps behind Alani caused her to quickly turn, eyes going wide as a blade came into view being thrust at her. Pivoting on the spot the faunus just barely missed the thrust sword as it glanced off her protective aura. "Gah you metal bastard, I'm gonna make you mincemeat for that!" Alani growled out out as she brought her right gauntlet in a diagonal downward motion rending the metallic metal of the necrotic knight that had just tried to attack her with the screech of metal on metal, the figure collapsing to the ground from her attack. "There's more of them that are invisible, keep an eye and ear out on your surroundings the big group is likely a distraction!" Alani shouted to the others as her looked around behind her and to the ground, watching for any leaves or grass that seemed to be compressed or shifting out of place. "Hey Grey, think these guys like metal?" Alani called to her partner as she moved to stand near his back and protect his blinds pot while he did likewise. "You provide the music and I'll provide the pyrotechnics?" She inquired with a sly grin as the claws to her gauntlets retracted before she quickly turned the small valves to the dust reservoirs on her gauntlets sending the volatile dust fuel to the now open vents. Quickly after the blades to her gauntlets retracted the rectangular metallic openings left from their absence ignited with small fiery bursts. "Let's show 'em why we're gonna make the best class group in Beacon everyone!" The faunus called out in a rallying cry before clenching her fists to activate her chemical throwers, letting loose a torrent of searing fire in a wide swath before her while being mindful to keep the flames away from her allies. The thick flames pouring from the vents in her gauntlets bellowed in a blazing roar as she aimed for visible footprints within the nearby grass and leaves, surely enough leaving blazing silhouettes for Grey and the others to attack should they wish.

Ignacia waited with Neil as they saw more and more students catch up with them at the relic site. She sat in the midst of the grass, taking a little break. She played around with her flames to pass the time, she wasn't very patient and always had to be doing something. The light danced around in her palms, jumping and sparking every time it crossed from one hand to other.

But she soon noticed that her flame flickered and smoldered, as a chilling gale swept across her face. The winds took to the forest floor, forming humanoid shapes, knights? They were definitely knights, the armor was unmistakable, but was worn and battered nothing of the likes she saw back at beacon. They appeared out of nowhere, catching Ignacia off guard. She clambered off the ground to take a defensive stance, taking a few steps back, their ghastly and dark appearances curdling her blood. Her hairs were on end as they started their march. The spearpoints pissed her off, What, did they think we're thieves or something? Oh. Wait. I am a thief. She smirked at her mental quip. However, her smirk broke as her face cracked up and soon turned to giggling and then full on laughter. "Hey Neil!" She called out in her fit, "Aha!" She pointed at the knights. Her voice was shaking, though not in a fearful way, it was a hysterical utterance. She couldn't control it, she didn't know why it was so funny, but it just was.

Elizabeth "Izzy" Turquoise

Elizabeth couldn't help but keep the eager grin off of her face as she watched over the forest from several hundred feet above, motionless in the air.  When it had been her turn to be launched from the platform and into the forest, she had simply used her semblance to stop her inertia at the height of her trajectory, giving her the best vantage point over the forest, where she began to safely fire arrows down into crowds of Grimm, her deadly arrows blasting down Grimm in only one shot, as long as she hit them in the head of center mass.  However, the long recharge time of her bow only let her fire around 4 arrows a minute.  Over a dozen arrows into her shooting, she paused, seeing some strange wind appear near some ruins in the forest.  Curiously, she pulled her long-range goggles over her eyes, amplifying her vision so she could get a better look.  With her heart in her throat, she watched the army of knights appear, staring down the other students, before a shot rang out, and the battle begun.  She let out a long sigh, charging up another arrow, picking out her target.  Pull back the drawstring, breathe in.  Breathe out, loose her arrow.  Repeat.  Her arrows of light soared through the air, incinerating armor and flesh alike.  She continued her Fire, supporting the other students with well-aimed arrows from above, picking off knights who got close to the Beacon students.

As time went by, Lyrika began to really believe that their trial was as simple as grabbing a chess piece. That was when the wind picked up, and the sound of clanking metal could be heard. Perhaps there was a greater trial to be had. But upon finding out what exactly was approaching them, Lyrika started to think this didn't have anything to do with their test. This...thing that had just formed was surely far too demonic to be a casual part of Beacon's initiation. The platoon of soldiers it had with it were equally suspicious. They appeared to be not unlike the the knights from Abarat they had seen earlier, but they were much less well kempt as far as their armor went.

As the winds died down, it was clear the knights were hostile. Their weapons were raised and they were poised to act in formation. In spite of the obvious warning signs, Lyrika did not want to be the one to provoke them. As it turned out, she did not need to be; the gunshot that rang out drew her attention, and Koamaru's shouting told her all she needed to hear. As the fighting ensued, it became clear that there were hidden enemies on the battlefield. Lyrika had few ways of seeing the unseen, but she had one idea as to how to find them.

"Even the invisible may still be HEARD!" She called out, letting a sonic attack fly forth. It was not a strong one, but it didn't need to be. Sure enough, a distinct metallic noise rang out from a space where no one stood in front of her. Her sonic attack had created a sound upon striking an invisible enemy. Acting quickly, Lyrika swung the blunt end of her spear at where she perceived the enemy to be. Her attack landed, and she knocked the knight off it's feet. She finished it off with a piercing strike to the neck. She did not relish killing, but these knights had come at them with clear intent to kill. They had no choice but to defeat them.

When Pewter arrived at her side, Lyrika told him, "Wait a moment. Stay back." She then began to speak aloud;

"The poet settles through the hall at night,
She joins within the scattered talking there,
Her lute and harp are strung to ease the fright,
Reminding sons and brothers what they DARE!"

She once again unleashed a sonic assault, one that struck a group of knights not far from their position, sending them all off their feet. "Right. Let's clean up, shall we?" She gestured for Pewter to join her in rushing in to finish off those she had disabled.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

Mocha dashed towards where she presumed the relic site was at. However, the second she got around to the clearing where the other students were she felt a chilling gale, and a large mass of armor clad knights were standing opposite of her and the others. She remained hidden, remembering what she was trained to do under high tension situations, hide and find a plan of attack. Using her semblance, she cloaked herself. She wanted to get closer to the enemy, and strike preemptively as she was taught. That was the best plan, she prowled around the trees, making use of her impact dampeners on her legs to reduce noises from her direction. Mocha made it around to a spot close to the right flank of the army. Seeing them up close, they were all almost ghastly. Their armor dark and filled with dents and foreign materials. They're like some kind of zombies...

When the knights appeared Agnes instantly ducked out and left the group, "I'll be back!" She yelled out to her partner. Both she and Mocha were trained in scenarios where they were outnumbered, and both remembered precisely what to do in the situation. She ran straight back, allowing her peers to take the brunt of their attack. She dashed through the sideline trees, quickly making it around to the left side of their marching army.

Mocha saw Agnes running back, Ohhh, she's playing this card... Mocha though to herself. She knew what Agnes wanted to do, so she got in position. Slowly climbing up to the top of a tree, she set up on it's largest branch. She crawled along it and set up her end. Mocha took a starting position, as if the trunk of the tree was a starting block. Ohhh. My, my... this is high up

Agnes, waited on the opposing side. The second Mocha made her move, she had to make hers as well.

Mocha was charging her boosters, throttling them quietly and prepping them for her ignition. While they were warming up, she unsheathed her swords, placing the sheathes on her back as to not get in her way. Holding her swords out infront of her, she let her engines rip. The boosters launched her out of the tree right at the approaching line of knights. She shot herself downwards, her feet soon finding touchdown and gliding over the dirt. She readied her blades as the knights turned to look at her. Angling the short swords at their neck armor. She boosted herself one more time parallel to the ground. Her swords found their way through the metal and necks of the first line of knights. However, she continued on past them into the trees.

Agnes had wound her tail around a tree, leaving a few feet in between her and it. The instant she was close enough, she grabbed onto her leg and used her position to act like a wheel, changing Mocha's angle of attack straight at the rag clad leader at the front of their ranks.

Mocha launched herself at him, swiping with her blades in quick succession hoping for the leader to be in a pool of blood on the ground. She touched down on the ground and rolled onto her back as she tumbled, using her heels to slow herself down. She took a knee and looked up at her wake to see if she had succeeded in her mission. Oh goodness...
