RWBY: Old Rites (In Character)

Of course Atlas had a hand in her enhancements. Atlas technology was extremely reputable, as well as rumors of how they field test what they make. Sometimes a black market deal for Atlas technology was just that, other times it was a trial run. It seemed like this time they had cut straight to the point. For Agnes's sake, he hoped that these implants didn't turn out to be an explosive failure.

The fact that she was a soldiering type put him off as well. Atlas military were top notch personnel. Unfortunately internal corruption went all the way to the top as well. A single soldier could most likely be trusted as long as their commanding officer wasn't around though so Agnes didn't present any worrisome thoughts for now.

Gaucho didn't seem to mind. He jumped up on his hind legs to meet her hand as she reached for him.

"He's alright I suppose." Koamaru took a few steps and looked over their surroundings. There didn't seem to be any indication of where the relics could be. Even after activating his semblance, there didn't seem to be any kind of trail to follow. After changing his focus to Grimm, he saw several pairs of tracks. Ozpin wasn't joking when he said it would be dangerous. "Let's try and find those relics then."

Ignacia sighed, he wants to just walk around randomly? Even if they do come across others, the likelihood that they know is abysmal. Igna was greatly disheartened by the notion, but if she could fight some more stuff, she'd be all game. "Well, alright... Let's get goin' shorty." She looked at from which direction she landed and pointed herself in the same way. "Oh yeah, my name's Ignacia. I like..." She paused, pondering about what she was going to say to her partner, "Fighting..." the word came out creepier than she intended, quickly appending, "Uh, fighting is my passion. I really love the adrenaline n' stuff." She scratched her elbows, hoping her introduction wasn't too... quirky. "Anyway, I think we should head down there." Ignacia pointed through the trees opposite of her landing zone. "I didn't see anything in the air, it's prob'ly down that way." She pushed away some branches and made a little opening for Neil to walk through, "Lasses first." She smirked.

Cobra

Cobra laughed, trying his best to discern if that was a joke or not. After looking at her for a few more seconds, he determined that it was not. "I could have killed that thing with two hits, plus I would still have my clothes in one piece." Cobra avoided talking about the crystals, already sensing it was a sensitive subject. He walked towards, her completely oblivious to the fact that she might not even want to be approached with the way she was. As he stepped closer to her, he removed his jacket and wrapped it around her. He forcefully put her arms in the sleeves and zipped it up all the way. He walked a few steps back and took time to carefully examine her features. He could call her beautiful, but he wasn't going to. Though her outfit was certainly outstanding, her attitude seemed the complete opposite. Her arms were something of a miracle, being to withstand such pressure from a Grimm.

Without waiting for her to say thank you, he summoned one of his snakes and gestured for her to hop on. "I want to get to the relics before everyone else. Since we're partners, you should know my name... it's Cobra."

Agnes played around with Gaucho, pulling her arm up as he popped up to meet it. "Oh you're so adoraaable!" She spoke with baby-speak. She then picked him up, petting his back and scratching his ears.

She'd only ever seen his breed of dog in pictures, never had she held one before. The stout body and plinky legs hit her right in her cute center. She was completely absorbed by Gaucho's presence.

"Okay, Koamaru. Before we go I think we should approximate where the relics could be. Before you found me. I was looking around in the tree and I predicted Ozpin would place the relics in a location where we'd all assume was appropriate. Possible something grandiose or of great magnitude." She pointed out at the dense foliage. "I think if we continue moving away from the cliff, we'd find our solution to this exam." Agnes hypothesized that if Ozpin had placed them in an arbitrary location, it would be insulting to the queen. Something so anti-climactic would not demonstrate their abilities and talents. They had to be in something big. And with something big.

She pet Gaucho one more time and walked over to Koamaru. "Okay, you can have him back now." She politely held the dog up, infront of him.

"Hm... To be honest..." Adrian quietly thought for a solid minute before looking up at Varien with a determined look in her eyes.

"No. I don't." Was her simple reply before she took a look around. She then walked up to a tree with some low hanging branches and began climbing the tree. Once she's reached as far up as she could, she scanned the tree tops and spotted a sheer cliff face. Nodding once, she slid down the tree and landed next to Varien.

"But I have an idea about where it might be..." Adrian said before walking off in the direction of the cliff, expecting Varien to follow.

"Ooooh. Toasty." Argent said with an impressed whistle at the smoking crater where an Ursa once was. Argent sheathed his kukris and grinned.

"Lead the way mon capitan!" Argent teased with a mock salute thrown in for good measure. As the pair continued on, Argent's catlike hearing picked up on the sound of rustling bushes nearby. Time to showoff a little I guess~ He cheekily thought as he took a deep breath and focused, feeling his semblance activating.

"I, Argent Chatterton command thee... Show yourself!" Argent commanded the rustling bush. To his surprise, a boarbatusk came trotting out. It was smaller then the rest with smaller bone plates but its still a dangerous Grimm.

"Very good... Now, leave us alone!" Argent commanded, the boarbatusk grunted and turned around, intending to walk away.

"Psst, I bet if you shoot a Fire Dust grenade at it now, it'll probably go flying off like a rocket right?" Argent cheekily suggested, nudging Rendure with his shoulder.

"Oh, it's all high cultural stuff; art and music. Poetry too, of course. My father paints, and he's famous in the right circles. But like I said, those circles are usually the pretentious kind." She didn't hate her father, but she had to admit how much of a snob he could be. She liked high culture herself, but he took it to another level; refusing to tolerate anything that wasn't "beautiful" and "elegant". It was enough to make her feel like tearing her hear out in frustration sometimes, and she wasn't afraid to label him pretentious. She was intrigued to hear Pewter made his own weapons, but she felt a twang of disappointment when he mentioned most hunters made their own. She had no talent in handicrafts, so she wouldn't have the first clue how to make her own weapon. On top of that, she could begin to fathom what would compliment super sonic poetry. "I wish I had a talent like that." She remarked as he demonstrated his weapon's function. "But I've never made anything before in my life. Except poems I suppose." This was really reminding her of how much she stood out compared to all these salt of the earth huntsmen. Only Ryuuko was perhaps more like herself.

As they continued on their way, a thought occurred to Lyrika, "Do you think they will have arranged for something dangerous to greet us before we find what we're looking for? It wont be much of a test if we are simply lucky enough to avoid anything worse than Beowolves." She didn't really want to encounter anything deadly, but she couldn't shake the thought that they had to have some way of putting their students to the test. Just hoping they would stumble across natural made tribulations couldn't be what the academy was counting on.

"Probably, but d'you really want me to start a fire?" He said nonchalantly. "This is a forest of trees and trees are flammable." He continued. "Neat Semblance though, what is that? Hypnotism? Or something else?" He asked as he swapped out Destroyer's lightning rounds for something a bit harmless. "Alright, 1st rule of this partnership, we don't talk about my Semblance." He said loudly as he began to fire an Ice Dust Grenade only to pause. "Wait, if that's a small one then what are the chances that there's a big one nearby?"

Pewter just silently nodded as Lyrika talked until she remarked about her in ablility to make a weapon and he started thinking but he remained silent until she brought up a tougher challenge than just getting to the relic. The thought had crossed his mind several times and while it might not look like it he hasn't let his guard down since landing. Finally he broke from his silence "I wouldn't be surprised if they had some sort of trap set up for us, but we won't know till we hit it so just keep on your toes." pewter went silent again for a minute before saying "And if you would like help making your own weapon I could show you how and help you out, I tend to do regular maintenance on mine so I can show you some things them"

Neil pouted at her nickname. "Hey! Don't get short with me now!" He mockingly scolded, trying hard not to show a smile.  Fighting, huh? If the accent didn't already prove it, it was the flames and the way she fought that did. Still, it was cool to have a fighter as a Partner! Neil shrugged. "Well, It's not pink, but it'll have to do!" Neil teased as they walked. "So, Ignacia, huh? Cool name! Way better then Neil." He said with a noticeable sneer. He hated his name with a passion. It just sounded so...boring. The Cyclamen family wasn't the most creative when it came to names. Why couldn't they have just given him a break and picked a cool or unique name out for him...Oh Yeah! In the words of his father..."Breaks are for the unprofessional"...Douche.  Neil shook his head. No! You're past that! New family, New friends, New school, and a New awesome part-...

He blinked at her remark before rolling his eyes with a smirk. "Pfft! You know I'm fabulous." Neil commented before he moved through the opening and looked around. Hmmm. Trees, Trees, and Oh, Yeah! More trees! They still weren't any closer to that relic, but he could feel it. Maybe if they just moved a little bit more. Continuing his walking, he decided to start up some more conversation. "So! I think I saw ya with some other ladies at the ship the other day. What are they like?"

"Oh its not hypnotism. I call it Domination. Its like I'm ordering it to do what I want. Besides, if there was a bigger one, I would..." Argent started before he heard a few snorts behind him and Rendure. "...hear them..."

Argent took a quick peek behind him to see an entire passel of regular sized boarbatusks and one particularly large one. And they seem angry.

"Rendure.... No. Sudden. Movements...." Argent whispered as he slowly drew Pluck and Muck. He carefully slipped in a Fire Dust cartridge into Muck and charged his kukris.

"On the count of three.... We run... Okay..?" Argent said, slowly raising his kukris up in an ice pick grip.

"THREE!" Argent quickly stabbed the ground with both kukris, sending a blast of steam at the boarbatusks. Once they were distracted, Argent broke off into a run.

"WHY MUST YOU JINX IT RENDURE!? WHY!?" Argent cried in a rather girly scream as he ran.

"ME? I AIN'T THE ONE CALLIN OUT GRIMM!" Rendure yelled loudly as he ran. He turned quickly and fired an ice grenade  to make sure they weren't followed. "Can't you use your fancy Semblance on them and make them go away?!'  He asked as they ran. He really hoped he didn't have to use his Semblance. "Are they still following us?" He asked after a while of running. He was too focused on running ahead and not tripping up to look back properly.

"It doen't work on groups! At least not a bunch of angry ones!" Argent replied before taking a quick glance back. The ice wall was doing its job but its starting to crack. He quickly drew out Pluck and slashed the ground as he ran, leaving a few more ice walls to slow them down.

"At least the ice walls are working. Come on! This way!" Argent said, changing direction. He strained his ears and continued running until he couldn't hear the boarbatusks. He stopped running and stopped to rest.

"Okay... We got away.... Remind me not to do that ever again...." Argent panted.

Varien looked back at the rising plume of smoke before letting out a sigh and following the girl. He caught up to Adrian and matched her pace. "So, since we are going to be partners for the next four years, it might be beneficial to know more about eachother. Such as our semblances. I saw how you threw that rock, what is your semblance?" He asked. It was a question to satiate his curiosity more than the need to know eachothers skills in combat, but that didn't stop him from asking. If they were to work together for their time at Beacon, they would have to trust eachother.

Seraphina was visibly confused by the act, instead refusing the jacket. She commented, "I'm protected enough by my bones..." She tapped the crystal to try and tell that fact. She was actually very comfortable with her crystals contrary to her appearance. She walked without an ounce of pain showing on her. She sighed, "I wrestled Beowolves in my entry exams. I am planning on finishing my weapon soon..." She clamped her hand onto the snake, clambering onto it with much more agility than before. Now she was similar to a Juggernaut. She nervously held onto Cobra's shoulders with a surprising gentleness. If Cobra would allow her, she would rest her anxious head against his back.

She rambled a bit while the snake went on, "...I'm Seraphina, but people call me Cervus. I was told it was a deer, but I have never seen one. Have you ever seen a deer...?" She was still down in the dumps due to Cobras words. She didn't meet his expectations. She was half certain the snake was going to revolt on her, or he just wouldn't answer her and hate her. She prayed she could make him happy...

"Okay... We got away.... Remind me not to do that ever again...." Argent panted.

"Ok, never do that again." Rendure reminded him as he leaned against a tree and rested. In his mind his other selves were giggling at the events. 'Yeah yeah laugh it up.' He thought sourly. "That was a close call, good thing I thought about stuff before shooting didn't I or else we'd be running even more and we'd have less of a warning." He huffed out. He took Black Rose and loaded bullets into it before  putting it back. "Just in case." He said as he did so. "So as I was saying earlier, neat Semblance." He said as he began to walk again.

"Huh, those guys? They're pretty boring. But they're my friends... for some reason?" She rubbed the back of her neck, with a face of incertitude. "Anywho, they're okay. But I don't always get along with 'em. 'specially the one with the dog ears." She grabbed her own and pulled them downward, making them resemble Agnes's.

Igna turned around and stared at Neil while walking backward. She couldn't really understand why he wore so much pink. It was a little overdone to her taste. She always wore thuggish clothing or something practical. She wouldn't be caught dead wearing something that gaudy. "Neil lad? Can you explain yer wardrobe choice? Don't ya find it... flamboyant?"

@SpicyWatterson-Kun

The brown skinned boy breathed heavily as he stared at the grizzly bear-like Grimm. He had found a pack of Grimm wondering the forest. 15 beowolves and two giant Ursas. The young man decided to have a light workout just for kicks. Only one Ursa stands before him now.

Taking a deep breath to even out his breathing, he watched the beast get to it's feet through his left eye. The right eye was closed shut from the the dried blood that caked the right side of his face from his forehead down. The blood was now starting to dry in his hair too. He hoped it wouldn't be difficult to wash out. How annoying would that be?

The Ursa stood on it's hind legs. The thing was huge, towing over Kaden. It swung it's claw at him. The monster was swift for it's size but it was still too slow. Anyone with experience could've seen the attack coming the moment it started. The boy leapt backwards, dodging the attack then stepped in close to the Ursa. His left arm swung in an arc from left to right. It held the metal sheathe that snuggly held his blade. The metal whacked the beast in the side hard, causing it to stumble over to the right. Being hit in the same spot with so much force had to take the wind out of him. It's stubby legs gave into it's wait and toppled over. The Ursa tried to get up but it was too late. Kaden's black and orange katana already pierced through the exposed side of it's neck.

Kaden stared down at the Ursa as it started to fade away. He then looked around making sure there were no more enemies. He looked at the damaged trees. Some where completely toppled over. Others had scratch marks and cuts. Proof a battle could be seen just by surroundings alone. He noticed the black crystals he'd formed littered the ground in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They  hadn't disappeared yet.Crap. No wonder his he was getting tired so fast. He'd forgotten to get ride of those crystals. With a little focus and effort, he'd willed the crystals to crumble and blow away in the wind. Geez. He'd over done it using his semblance recklessly. Now he'd have to avoid using it for 50 minutes to an hour. Oh well. Whatever.

The brown skinned boy again stared at the creature who was staring back with red hate filled eyes. Kaden wondered what the Ursa would wish for if it had one wish. Probably to rip Kaden limb from limb. Ha.

"Don't feel too bad." He told the Ursa as it completely dissipated. "No matter how many of you there were, trash is still trash."

The boy sheathed his blade. Looking up the sun still high in the sky, he decided he had more time to play. He then began to walk. Moving with the wind. Letting it guide him to his next challenge.

Neil scratched his head. They diiiid look kinda boring. Neil snickered at Igna's mockery of the one with the dog ears. "Eh. Dog ears are kinda cute, ya know. Kinda makes me wish I had a dog." Neil commented as he put his arms behind his head and walked...until he stopped when Igna had asked him the big question...why did he wear pink? ...Why did he wear pink? Neil looked down at the ground, frowning in thought. Huh. No one had ever asked him that question before...which was kind of surprising. Looking up, he continued walking, counting his fingers. "Well...there's multiple reasons I wear pink, actually! It's my favorite color, it reminds me of cotton candy, it looks good with any other...but..." He closed his eyes and shoved his arms in his pockets, trying to find the right words. Finally, he opened them, and with a big grin, he shrugged. "It tells everyone that I'm free!" He sighed. "Look. When you're a guy like me...there's sometimes people who try to bring you down. Who try to shove their ridiculous ideas and beliefs you don't agree with in your face. Who constantly beat what they know into your cranium to try and get you to be just like them...and back then, it worked." He clenched his fist and shook his head. "But eventually, stuff happened and when things got all new and scary and stuff, I guess It kind of just..."

He slowly reached up and grabbed his scarf, giving it a sentimental look. "Spoke to me, ya know? It was the only thing I had back then. When I had Pink...it felt as if I finally had freedom. That's why I wear it. It tells people that I'm free. That I'm not some normal guy in the crowd. That no matter what happens, I can still be whatever I want to be. And the best thing about it is when the people who tried to change me see it...heh heh..." His grin grew maniacal and his eyes dilated, turning grey for a moment.

"It PISSES them off..."

After awhile, he closed his eyes and opened them again, back to their original sea green color. "Anyways, enough sappy stuff! We gotta find those relics! We gotta be observant! We gotta be patient! Ozpin probably hid them pretty far, but with enough time, skill, and persistence, I BELIVE THAT WE CAN-Oh, hey, we're here!" Neil said, looking around the open clearing and seeing a weird...temple thing with a bunch of chess pieces. "Ugh...I'm no archaeologists...but I THINK those are the relics."

@Enkye

Admittedly Alani's own ears were ringing faintly from the intense shock waves produced by Grey's guitar, she couldn't imagine what intensity the sound must be when directly in front of it. At her new partner's rather boisterous answer to her question, Alani laughed a bit as she took a glance around at their surroundings. "Well then I think we'd best head off to the ruins and get this finished with; don't want to be the last ones to finish the objecting now do we?" The faunus asked as she looked in the rough direction she recalled the ruins and began to head off toward them. Alani's curiosity about Grey's weapon only grew as they made their way toward the ruins. "Hey Grey, I've gotta ask what was the inspiration in your weapon?" She inquired, looking at the complex instrument that rested upon the youth's shoulder. "Heck compared to my own weapons yours seems like a complex work of engineering." She quipped, looking down at her gauntlets and gently clenching her armored hands, the metallic sound of her gauntlets' blades extending from their sheathes before retracting a moment later. The two wolves stayed relatively close to the two students with Lupa slightly ahead of them and to the left and Fenris slightly behind and to the right of them, silently ensuring Alani or Grey weren't ambushed.

"Sounds like a plan." He said as he walked with her in the general direction of the ruins. He turned a few knobs in a certain sequence and flipped a switch, which put the weapon into normal guitar mode. "A good portion of the inspiration on how it works comes from Flynt Coal, who I mentioned yesterday. I liked the main mechanic and decided I would try to take it to the next level, as well as customize it to my wants and needs." He said when she inquired on what inspirations he took for its design. "It took me a number of years to actually make the weapon work like it does out of a basic guitar, also known as the one it currently looks like now." he gestured towards the guitar. "Yeah it is pretty complex, had to get the assistance of a few notable weapon engineers to make it so the transformation methods were stable and the blade wouldn't fold when applied pressure. Still not precisely sure how they managed to do it, but they did it and I absolutely love it." he continued, shrugging.

"Oh, that's a very kind offer. I'm not sure I'll be much good at that sort of thing though. You'll need to be patient with me, I'm sure." Not only did she have no experience in making gizmos and such, but she had never been a very practical person in general. Part of being a Kastano, she was sure. She was definitely going to need to keep her spear, no matter whether she managed to get a new weapon or not. The moment her father found out she had even dabbled in working with her hands, he was likely to have a fit. Of course, he would have a fit if he saw her right now, so she had already crossed into that territory.

Eventually, the pair of them found themselves standing before a ruined structure. "This is the place, right Pewter?" She asked him. "Oh, look! Other students!" She pointed towards the others that had arrived in the area. "This simply must be the right place." She walked towards the "relics", giving a wave to her fellow students as she went. "Hello there!" She called out to them. Though she didn't stay to chat, as they had a job to do. Approaching the pieces, Lyrika wondered if this wouldn't be the time where a sudden trap would spring as Pewter suggested. Cautiously, Lyrika reached out to grab a piece....and grabbed it. Perhaps there really was nothing to fear here other than occasional Beowolves. "I think we won, Pewter!" She called out to him. "Do we....walk back now or something?" She was a little uncertain what to do.

"My semblance is reletively simple. I am simply able to increase the amount of force exerted depending on how focused I am." Adrian simply explained, stopping for a moment to survey the surroundings and getting her bearings. As she comtinued on the path, she stopped to check a set of tracks. Human tracks, most likely other students.

"So what about you Varien? What's your semblance? If we both understand our tactics well, we should be able to increase the potential of our teamwork." Adrian asked as she continued on walking. As she waited for Varien to answer, they came upon a clearing with a sort of temple in view. "Looks like we have arrived..."

"Yeah... Neat Semblance..." Argent parroted, following Rendure as they continued onward. His ears were twitching slightly and he clearly knows why.

"So that's my Semblance. I'd say its only fair I get to know your's. You know, mutual trust and everything." Argent suggested with a small smile on his lips. He stared at Rendure for a moment with narrowed eyes before he continued. "Or would you rather I use my Semblance to make you tell me...? I have done such things in the past you know..."

Argent's tone was getting rather soft and had a little edge to it. Sure Rendure must have his reasons to be tight-lipped about his Semblance but Argent learned that trust goes two ways. And he'd rather have a partner who puts a little bit more faith in their partner. Argent may be a former White Fang member but trust is one thing he takes seriously.

"Sheesh fine." Rendure grumbled as he stopped. "No need to all master on me, yeesh." Rendure grumbled as he stretched out for a bit. "I was kinda looking forward for a kip anyways." He added. "Now I have to warn you, don't judge me. You sorta asked for this." He said before closing his eyes. In his mind he appeared and tapped one of his other selves, His Knight Assassin self. "Okay, you're up, I'm going to rest here for a bit." He said before his other self disappeared from his mindscape.

Outside there was a blinding flash of light and a woman stood where he was, hands resting on the pommel of her green glowing blade. Her hair flowed down with a ponytail. She wore no helmet so her cat ears twitched freely. "I...was having a nice nap...why?" Rendure asked Argent as her head tilted slightly to the side.

Grau let out a sigh, listening to Ozpin's words as he briefed them on what they were here for.  They'd have to find partners and find relics in some particular part of the forest, and they'd get down there through.., being launched off platforms.  Grau find himself rather worried about that particular form of transport due to how he didn't have a way to get down there with his semblance, as he couldn't yet make crows large enough to carry his body weight, or crows large enough to carry anyone's body weight.  None the less, once he was launched, he tried summoning anyways, a small, shadowy black orb forming within his hands, growing larger as he soared through the air.  Suddenly, a large crow burst from the orb, which disappeared, and Grau felt his strength leave him in an instant.  He let out a sign as the crow grabbed his shoulders in its talons, carrying him down into the forest below, although his weight caused the animal to plummet down like a falling star.  Not too far from the ground, the crow let him go and he fell with a shout and an ungrateful landing.  He got to his feet, panting, as he pulled his weapons from their holsters, looking around him for Grimm as he moved in one direction, waiting for his strength to come back so he could summon a crow to scout for him.

Argent Chatterton

"Uh......." Was all that Argent managed to say. His eyes were wide open, hie ears twitched in disbelief and his cheeks flushed red. Just my type!

"I mean... Uh... Wow I guess...?" Argent gaped, his mind was officially blown now. He's seen multiple personalities but this? THIS IS AWESOME!

"Woah Rendure. That's a pretty crazy Semblance you got there... So I guess you can freely switch between who's in charge? That's amazing! Its like you are your own army and I thought you carried too many guns but this is just awesome! Kinda confusing now that I have seen it but I'm sure I can work with this. I mean I worked with lots ofstrangepeoplebutthisisjusttheicingonthecrazycake!" His speech got faster and faster until its just a sped up jumbled mess. He can't help it, too excited. And amazed. And a little scared now. Argent hoped that Rendure's alternate personality was a touch more stable then Adrian's other self.

@Happy Red Mage

Joshua walked with Ryuuko in the general direction that he thought the relics were meanwhile keeping an eye out for any other Grimm that decided to crash their party. Surprisingly enough, no Grimm decided to do just that and that was perfectly fine with him. Turning his head to speak to Ryuuko, Joshua began, "So I know you noticed my semblance when we were fighting those Beowolves, but I never got a chance to see yours. I mean we are partners after all so shouldn't we know each others'?"
