RWBY: Old Rites (In Character)

            Quietly humming an old song, Ryuuko continued walking forward. She tried to remember where her parents said the relics were and went in the general direction that looked like what they described. It seemed like a place one could get lost in easily, as every area looked alike. When Ryuuko reached a clearing with a tree in the center, her smile widened. This area was one of the more memorable ones from her parents’ directions. After all, that’s where they first met. Though the location was how they described it to be, it wasn't as exceptional as it had sounded to her, but this was the location nonetheless. Surely she was heading the right way? Ryuuko’s eyes wandered for a bit before she noticed one of her fellow students and waved.

            “Ah, greetings, Joshua. I believe we will be partners. I hope you do not mind the whole ‘permanent’ aspect of this…”

Neil swung his arms back and forth, looking at all the students as Ozpin did another one of his (In)famous speeches. Okay, Neil! Ya got this! You got the lucky pink scarf, Sheila, the Semblance, your dust bullets, everything! He check his bullets one more time, making sure every type was in there. Yep! Everything! Nodding, he looked up and cracked his neck, sighing as he stared out into the vast sea of deep green. Man, for a forest of death and possible destruction, it sure looked pretty from high up! It kinda made him excited for the trek down...wait...Neil looked around, yet saw no ship to carry them there...or a road to help them walk there. He blinked. What the heck was going o-OOOOOOOH. He slowly looked down at the metal plate below his feet before slowly looking back up at Ozpin. "...You clever-"

Click!

Before Neil knew it, he was soaring through the air screaming. OKAY! THIS WAS NEW! As he watched the forest of trees get closer, he gulped. Think, Neil, Think! What could you do to get out of this situation right now? Hmmm...multiple crazy ideas flooded through his head. Maybe he could...no,  Ozpin was watching. What about...nah, too dangerous. OOOH! He could-AGH! Neil soon returned to the world the moment his body landed on a branch. Eye twitchng and mouth agape, he slowly slid off the branch and began his painful descent downward, landing on multiple branches and crying out in pain on each one. This...okay, this sucked. Finally, he seemed to have land on the ground.

Twitchng, he groaned and Sat up, rubning his back. That could've gone better. Well, he guessed it was time to find his par-..was the grass always black? A loud roar sounded, causing Neil's eyes to widen. He slowly looked downward and saw the girl with the tail from before...and the Ursa he was currently on top of. Chuckling, he patted its back. "Uhm...Nice doggy-WHOA!" Neil cried, gripping the Demon bear's due tightly as it tried to buckk him off like a bill in a rodeo. "HEY! THIS IS ACTUALLY FUN! GET ALONG, LITTLE DOGGY!' He laughed.

Rendure was packing some serious heat since he came onto the platform dressed in his full arsenal. 'Man, Ozzy sure likes his speeches don't he?' He thought as Ozpin gave his speech. "So, making eye contact make partners? Cool cool, looking forward to stuff." He mumbled. "Makes me wonder how we're going to get there. I see no-" He was interrupted by the platform launching him off. "Sure, let's go with that." He said as he flew. He soared over the forest like a majestic eagle with a lot of guns and saw where the relics were and marked it off mentally. "Okay, it's that way, now let's land first..." He said before reaching for his grenade launcher and pointing downwards. "This is going to be loud!" He yelled as he fired when he got close enough to the ground. The ensuing explosion knocked him off course of course and sent him flying into the relative safety of a bush. "Wooo! That's a rush!" He yelled as he crawled out of the bush.

The forest was thick and crawling with Grimm, and it was just his luck that he landed in an area in view of his direction. Sadly between him and his path stood an Ursa. There was a chain of gunshots and the Ursa was no more. Rendure let Butcher down onto it's usual place on his hip and the barrels smoke out before heading in the direction of the relics.

Ignacia put her hand up to her face. The flames coating her skin flared and smoldered. She clasped her fist and kissed her knuckle. Taking a boxing like stance. She began dashing towards the ursa with Neil on top. Once she was in range of the grimm, she dipped low and uppercutted it's jaw, blasting it with fire. Her punch lifted it a meter in the air. She then quickly dashed to Neil. Grabbing him off it's back and throwing him onto her shoulder. "Hey light-ish red guy." she chuckled at her attempt at teasing him.

(FINE! One more post and it's night time)

Neil laughed as the Ursa bucked. And he thought eating three bowls of pumpkin Pete cereal in under two minutes was cool, but this was just AWESOME! His eyes widened, however, when the Ursa seemed to have stop bucking. Blinking, he looked down to see it was practically in the air thanks to the girl's blue flame punch...seriously, the girls here were even weirder than him. He yelped a bit when she suddenly grabbed him and threw him on her shoulder. He then snickered at her teasing. "Whatsup, Foxy?" He said back with a smile. "The name's Neil. Guess we're partners now, huh?"

Pewter walked through the forest at a leisurely pace his right hand shoved in his pocket and his left hand leaning Fang against his shoulder. He looked to the sky again seeing the smoke trail some hot head left behind as she flew past, he would follow it but it was in a different direction that he is headed and he isn't so sure he wants to be partnered up with someone who laughs maniacally while flying through the air. His attention is brought back down to earth at the sound of a low growl, turning around he sees a Beowulf come charging at him. Letting out a sigh he leaps into the air doing a flip and whipping Fang out into its bladed whip form making it wrap around the Beowulf's neck as it charges into the place he had been standing a second earlier. As he lands on his feet he pulls on Fang making it retract and the Beowulf's head falls to the ground. Pewter continued on towards the relics.

Agnes looked to her side, watching the students get flinged in to the air. Hmmm. This is quite to examination... As soon as the student beside her was flung, she extended her tail. Little sparks jumped out of the joints in it. Time to go. She was shot into the air, she pulled up her breather and analyzed her surrounding area. The emerald forest... looks, nice.

She dropped at a very high rate due to the weight of her arms and tail. Looking down, she took notice of the trees. Falling headfirst, she lifted her arms. As she descended, she opened her hands grabbing onto the side of the tree. Her inertia took her down quite a bit before coming to a stop, creating a large gash in the tree. She then sat down on a large branch. "I should make an appropriate plan." She mumbled to herself.

@Anyone on JACK

Ignacia deactivated her semblance, the blue flame flickered out. Igna looked at Neil and giggled. "You trying to say I'm a foxy chick? Eh?" She slapped him on the butt, proving her own joke. She sighed, "Yep guess we're both stuck in the sack together." and started to walk around, looking for where to go. "Say, where we s'pose to be right now? I'm in a bit of a rut with directions." Igna put Neil down and put both her hands back into her hoodie pockets. "Lead us to them relics, ey lad?"

Lyrika felt the previous day had been productive, to say the least. She had mustered up the courage to meet two new people. It would probably sound like a pathetic number to anyone else, but Lyrika did not often stray from her small social circle back home. She was quite pleased with herself to have managed to go outside her comfort zone more than once. But now it was time to truly begin her business as a student. Taking her place like the others, she felt inspired by the view from the cliffs into the Emerald Forest. Having been the first trial for many huntsmen, Lyrika felt as though she was following in the footsteps of legends. The only question was why they all had to stand around on this cliff before going ahead.

She found out the hard way, as being suddenly launched from the cliff caught her completely off guard. She let out a shrill scream as she was propelled through the air and into the woods. She ended up landing most ungracefully in a puddle of mud. Shakily rising to her feet, she reckoned her father would die of shame if he could see her right now. Less so for her undignified landing and more so for the fact she was drenched in mud. Dusting herself off as best she could, Lyrika braced herself for the trials to come. If luck would have it, maybe her partner would be either Cuprum or Ryuuko. She only hoped she didn't get mobbed by Grimm before she found anyone.

As she wandered around aimlessly, Lyrika's attention was grabbed by the sound of fighting not far from where she was. It made her nervous, as this would no doubt be her first confrontation with a Grimm. But she knew she had to face such beasts eventually if she wanted to be a huntress. Preparing her spear, she raced towards the source of the noises. As it would happen, she would not be finding her first fight; she arrived to find the young man that had engaged the beast had already slain it. He was using a rather curious looking segmented blade. Lyrika was sometimes quite jealous of the fact everyone got a much fancier weapon than she did.

"Ah, hello there!" She called out to the man. "I guess this chance encounter makes us partners, no? I'm Lyrika Kastano, pleased to meet you." She approached him and offered her hand for a shake. Given her mud stained clothes and generally unimpressive appearance, she hoped she wasn't going to be too much of a disappointment of a partner.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

Pewter turned towards the person who approached him and gave a small chuckle at her appearance "The name is Pewter Faraday" he said readjusting his arm brace to be tighter before extending his right hand currently encased in Claw and accepting her hand shake "Have a rough landing there?" indicating towards her mud coat before loosening his arm brace again.

@Tarquin

"Yes, very." She replied. She still stung a bit from the experience. But as dainty as she was, she was in fact made of sturdier stuff than she appeared to be. It would take more than a little mud to dampen her spirits. "I'd much like to have a good bath, but we have more important concerns right now, don't we?" Not only were they in Grimm infested territory, but they had a very specific task and they couldn't afford to disappoint their headmaster. Lyrika shuddered at the thought of failing the very first task of all things. "Speaking of which, do you have any idea where we need to go? Or shall we just wander around until we find something?" Lyrika had to wonder if, more than relying on their partners, they would have to rely on blind luck to find out what they needed to do in these woods.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

"Well I got a little turned around during my fight but if I climb to the top of this tree" Pewter points to a nearby tree "I should be able to figure out which direction we need to go in."  Without even giving her time to respond he flings his right arm upwards making his wires wrap around a branch high up on the tree before being quickly pulled up with it. At the top of the tree Pewter could see quite a bit of the forest including some places where some students had some not quite graceful landings. Looking around he could see what appeared to be some kind of structure in a clearing in the distance, if they were looking for relics that is their best bet. After descending the tree he turns back to Lyrika "I think our best bet is that way." he says using his thumb to indicate behind him "There is some sort of structure over there that might be what we are looking for." Turning in said direction he begins his leisurely stroll again. "By the way, since we are partners now, would you mind telling me what your semblance is?"

@Tarquin

Not only did this Pewter have a cool sword, but he also had some wire based gauntlet contraption. Why did everyone else get to have the awesome tools and weaponry? Of course she knew why, and it was because her father considered all these things crude and barbaric. She was lucky enough to get the spear. In any case, it was fortunate that she got a partner that was able to do some decent reconnaissance. Now they had a direction. Then he wanted to know what her semblance was. "My semblance? Oh....it's basically....sonic manipulation, I guess." It was a very simple way of describing it, and it didn't tell the whole story. Lyrika was just still too bashful to tell people she attacked using poetry. "How about yours?" She quickly added. Hopefully he would be the type to eagerly talk about his own powers as she followed him towards their destination.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

"Sonic manipulation huh?" Pewter put his hand to his chin trying to think of the best way to tell her what his semblance is, after deciding he turned back towards her and stopped walking. He held his hand out in front of him as if he was holding an invisible ball, then silver electricity started arcing between his fingers "I guess that makes us thunder and lightning doesn't it?" He closed his hand and the electricity ceased. He turned back around and continued walking, 'she doesn't need to know I can't fully control it yet' he added to himself as a thought.

@Tarquin

"My my, how poetic!" Lyrika did rather like the name that Pewter came up with. It was quite interesting that he managed to come up with that on the fly. Perhaps he had a hint of poetic talent in him? It was probably just a spur of the moment idea however. "I suppose it's only polite I give a demonstration of my own." Fortunately, she knew how to use her semblance without reciting pieces of poetry, although that tended to make it a lot easier. She hardly needed to work up a full burst of her semblance just to show it off for now. Facing a nearby bush, she spoke with a clear and strong voice, "A small display is all I NEED!" Upon speaking the last word, a burst of energy erupted from her mouth, shaking the bush violently. "What do you think? I can make it a whole lot stronger, but-"

It was then that a shape emerged from the bush she had just disturbed. It was another Grimm, another Beowulf. It was advancing on them slowly but menacingly. Without thinking, Lyrika launched into the first poem that came to mind.

"Beware the Beowulf, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Beware the Griffon bird, and shun the fruminous BOARBATUSK!"

Once more upon finishing she unleashed a forceful gust of energy, though this one possessed greater force than the last. The Grimm was blasted backwards, and slammed into a tree nearby. Wasting no time, Lyrika gripped her spear and hurled it at the creature. It landed squarely in it's throat, killing it instantly.

"Oh my, I've never done such a thing before!" Lyrika exclaimed. She could barely believe she had even done it. It was as though she had been possessed. She went to retrieve her spear, and then she realised; she had just revealed the way she used her semblance in front of Pewter. Looking back at him sheepishly, she asked, "Haha, yeah, I quote poetry when I use my semblance. It's...it's, um, very silly, isn't it..?" She couldn't even remote conceal her embarrassment.

@A Cat Named Hobbes

"Ah, yeah, great."

Cup muttered as he flew through the air, trying to balance himself as he loaded gravity dust rounds into his gun. He aimed the gun for the ground, trying to make a safer landing....

When a gigantic screech shook the air. A Nevermore snatched Cup midair, and he was dangling, the Nevermore's claws grabbing him by the shoulder.

"What the.."

Cup's eyes widened as he scanned the Nevermore. Bigger than I thought. He checked his other gun. Normal rounds. He tried aiming up, but the grip tightened as he tried. Scowling, Cup looked at the direction they were flying to. If the professors launched them north, he was heading south east. He grunted and focused. If the grip loosened even the slightest, he would shove a bullet up the Nevermore.

"Any time now..."

He felt the grip loosen on his left arm. Luckily the one with normal rounds. He quickly threw his arm up and fired. According to the screech and the Nevermore flying around like a plane which got its wing struck, the round hit one of its wings. Cup fired the gravity dust round to control his fall, and landed on the ground, rolling.

"Ten points to Cuprum Buckshot for the epic landing, minus ten points for getting snatched by a Nevermore."

He told himself as he climbed up a tree. He looked around, did some minor direction check, and headed for where he thought was the direction to the relic. Or is it? He thought as he ejected the dust round clip and put it back to its place. Then he heard a growl. Then many. Then lots of red glowing eyes appeared in the bushes. Cup switched his guns into blade form.

"Bring it on, wolfies."

He muttered as he loaded a bright red magazine into his right gun. A pack of Beowolves emerged from the bushes, eager to tear him apart. Cup pointed his blades at them, tilting them a bit forward to aim the barrels at them.

@anyone?

Seraphina sat there on the platform with her knees tucked into her chest. She was shivering a bit with fright. What if her teammate didn't like her?! What if she couldn't get one of those relics?! She would be a failure! A disgrace! She would disappoint her father! Oh, she couldn't do that in the slightest. The platform under her suddenly buckled a bit. Her eyes opened wide into white spirals as sweat dripped down her face. She moaned out a "Uuumm..." before she was launched straight off the platform. Heights?! Why did it have to be heights?! She was scared of heights as well so everything was just going swimmingly! She came crashing down with such force due to her crystal the ground was indented, sending massive amounts of dirt and stone flying up. She opened her eyes to blood, seeing that her chest was smashed open. She got up off the ground and began digging out the crystal that had broken. The whole spike above her bosoms was gone, so now she had a clear weak spot into her heart. Plus, she was bleeding from the wound already. She tapped the blood to see that in fact, it was crystalized! Her defenses were weakened, but her strongest layer stayed true!

She began to question one solid fact, though, she normally could handle crazy things like she just did without injury. Why not now? She looked down to the see that she had, in fact, landed on the tip of some monstrous creature. She jumped back in horror as she looked up to the now-tailless scorpion thing. She realized just how dire of a situation this was... and the fact that her crystal was damaged from just LANDING on that thing?! At least she took out the stinger, but the rest of it was much more heavily armored. The Death Stalker roared in anger as it began its charge.

Seraphina lifted up her fists, a fitting song beating through the air. "So long I have waited for a chance to prove I was right..." Her eyes went blood red with a new emotion finally crawling up through her. No, it wasn't an emotion, that she was certain of. It was an instinct she had long buried with her self-esteem. To fight or to fly, the ancient law of the jungle. She knew she couldn't fly, and so she had to fight if she wanted to have her life. Her father wasn't here, no one else was with her, so she had nothing and no one to fear. She roared out a prayer to the heavens, "Don't let me die now when my fists are clenched for a fight!" Horns against claws clashed, trees shattering under intense weights, and horrific sounds of ripping flesh and bone.

Hardly a few minutes into the exam and Alani already heard the sounds of battle, and from what she was hearing it was someone familiar. Running through a dense wall of bushes the faunus found indeed Grey surrounded by a number of grimm, all sizable beowulfs which snarled and growled, but largely kept their distance from the blasting soundwaves from Grey's guitar. "Wow, that's way cooler than Flynt I'll admit." She quipped before crouching down, her eye glowing a vibrant orange as two wolves burst into existence on either side of her one a deep black and the other a bright white. "Lupa, Fenris attack the grimm!" Her voice was a firm command, the two spirit-like wolves growling softly in affirmation before bounding off at the beowulf before them. Alani swiftly joined the fray as well, jumping into the air to deliver a cleaving attack at one beowulf, cleaving it in two as it dissipated in a mist of dark dust. "Well well, fancy meeting you here Grey, enjoying a nice walk in nature too?" The faunus called out amidst the sounds of battle as she dodged and slashed through another grimm.

When he noticed the twin wolves and Alani coming in from the greenery, grey dispersed the soundwave into a massive shockwave that stunned the temporarily. After doing so, he wasted no time in using the axe blade of his weapon to decapitate one of the grimm, its head falling to the ground before the entire thing dissipated. "That I do! Nothing like a good walk with Gaea to clear the head every once in a while. Also, cool looking yin-yang wolves you got with ya!" He called back to her as he shot an Ice dust at grimm before it attacked him, following up by separating it at the midsection.

Adrian Cuthbertson

(Pre-timeskip)
"Oh? Why thank you Miss Cervus, I'll treasure this gift." Adrian said with a smile before she studied the gem. She kept an eye on Seraphina for the rest of the night, her curiosity getting the best of her with this strange gem the girl pulled from her own throat. It was... Rather intriguing. "How curious..."

(Post-timeskip)

"Hm. This might be interesting..." Adrian muttered to herself as she stood on top of her launch pad. listening to Professor Ozpin's instructions. As the first person was launched off, Adrian couldn't help but grin at the sight. To think that she would be flying two days in a row! As she eagerly awaited for her turn to be launched, she glanced to her left and right to check out the other students. Some familiar faces here and there and... Hang on? WHAT'S HE DOING HERE?!

"Eh...? Ar-!" Adrian was about to call out when she was launched into the air. She was tempted to look back but she had to keep herself stable in midair. She made a mental note to check again later in case her eyes were deceiving her but... Now for a landing strategy. Adrian gauged her remaining airtime as she saw the trees rush by beneath her. She quickly readied Peerless Gungir and aimed for an incoming tree branch. A quick flip of her weapon and she hooked the tree branch, spun once and launched off towards the ground at a reasonable speed. Her landing left a small gouge in the ground but she was in one piece.

"Now... To find a partner..." Adrian muttered as she took off into the forest, not realizing that she's being stalked by a pair of Ursas.

Argent Chatterton

"So long, Kitten~ ... That was too close..." Argent said in a sing-song voice as he watched Adrian get launched off just as she noticed him. He breathed a sigh of relief but he knows that she'll look for him later. After all, he did lie about not attending Beacon with her. Either way, he was glad that she noticed anyway. At least he might get to partner up with her but he also wants her to make her own friends. No point hanging out with a former terrorist/failed thief right?

"Welp, once more..." Argent started as the guy next to him was launched, he braced himself with a wide grin before he was launched. "INTO THE FRAY!!" He cheered as he was launched through the air, feeling the breeze on his face. Argent quickly drew his twin kukris, Pluck and Muck and readied his landing strategy. He carefully gauged his altitude and predicted his landing vector. He flipped Muck into an ice pick grip and plunged the tip into a thick tree trunk, using his momentum to carve his way to the ground in a spiral motion around the trunk. Once he's safe on the ground, she sheathed his kukris and dusted himself off.

"Heh, nailed it~" He chuckled as he took a look around, thought for a few seconds and ran off into the forest. He ran through a shrub and found himself about an inch away from Rendure.

"Whoa! Hey, hey watch it!" Argent said, hopping back at the last second to avoid running into Rendure.

Rendure was startled from the sudden appearance of a man that rushed out a shrub and made eye contact with him. His hands had already rapidly grabbed Cyclone and was about to fire. 'STOOOOOOOOOP!!!' Both of his other selves yelled. His finger touched the trigger lightly before breathing out and putting Cyclone away. "You watch it. I almost shot you." He said as his hands fell to his trusty Butcher. "C'mon, targets are that way. Let's keep moving. Name and what you can do while we walk." He said. "Rendure Rouge, I fire guns at things until they die." He said as he walked, signalling him to follow.

Zion Waters

Zion did not think that Ozpin's methods were intelligent at all. When he got launched off the pad, he simply had Kija fly him over the forest until they spotted the relics. If he were by himself, he could have been there by now but he needed a partner. Kija flew down to ground level, where he could summon the rest of his loyal followers. In an instance, they all appeared with one knee bent towards Zion and with their heads lowered. Kija joined them and Zion nodded with satisfaction.

"Yona, find the man named Grau. Kija fly up and lead me towards the relics. The rest of you, fan out and make sure no one else gets close to me... that includes Grimm. Go." At that, they all dashed away with excitement to complete their orders with the exception of Rose. Ever since he had gotten a hold of her, Zion has been trying to figure her out. She looked and spoke like his mother, but her behavior was different. He looked at her oddly, wondering why she was not following the orders he had just listed out and she looked straight up towards the sky and tilted her head. Before Zion could speak to her, she dissolved into thin air. He tried to see if she had teleported herself somewhere else, but her eyes were unavailable to him, meaning she returned within him. When he tried to summon her out again, he felt a block that was preventing him to do so. Rose? He got no response. Zion would have to deal with it later. He tapped into Yona's eyes and felt that he was getting ever closer to Grau.

"Perfect" Zion said to no one in particular. He switched his weapon to Mode 2 and shot towards a tall tree in the distance as he zoomed towards it.

Cobra

Cobra was half asleep as Ozpin was talking. He didn't sleep at all last night, too busy raiding the Staff's belongings. He was only wide awake when he was close to the ground and latched himself to a tree with his claws which barely softened his landing.

Cobra was quite confident that he would be able to find his cousin and catch him by surprise, but instead he as met with a woman with horns who was having a bull fight with a Grimm. CuteHe raised his hand slowly and three rapid fire shots of his custom fire-smoke dust escaped from his right palm and exploded right into the Grimm creature. He cackled, quite pleased with himself and looked at the girl with a light sense of curiosity. He had never seen a faunus with horns, but his right kept making a repetitive beeping sound. Suddenly, his "X-RAY" mode initiated and he saw that the girl had crystals under her clothes. What the hell is up with this chick? Before she got suspicious, he stopped staring at himself and put out a fake chuckle to hid his interest in her.

"Uh.... Argent Chatterton. I slash things and sneak around I guess..?" Argent weakly replied, his cat ears twitching in mild irritation. His eyes soon wandered at the sheer number of weapons Rendure is carrying. Dude is carrying like 5 different types of guns! A cheeky grin crept on Argent's lips.

"Oh and I guess I'm a sneaky sort of thief too. This look familiar to you?" Argent asked, holding up a spare pistol magazine he pickpoketed from Rendure. He did plan to swipe one of the pistols but the dangerous shine it had holstered told him to not try.

Varien's footsteps crunched the leaves beneath his feet with each step he took. That wasn't his worry though as his radar showed multiple signatures surrounding his position. He stopped moving, watching three of the signatures leave the radar. That left a total of eight left to his left and back sides. Spinning on his heel, he felt the flames gather in his hand as he prepared and launched a grenade towards the closest group of signatures. As soon as it hit the ground, multiple bolts of flames shot out and struck a Beowolf each. It seemed he had a hunting party following him. Upon contact with the fire bolts, the five grim burst into flames and rolled around fruitlessly, trying to extinguish the flames. The other three, upon seeing their comrades set aflame, let out a loud howl before charging Varien. The armored man took aim with The Last Word and let off three shots, each one hitting the center of a Beowolf's skull. The burn dust infused in the bullet helped break through the hard plating on their heads, causing the three to fall down with the scent of burnt flesh wafting up from the carnage around him. But, it seemed that a small portion of the lush forest was on fire now. It would sort itself out in time. Turning the way the three unknown signatures went, he chose to start running.

It didn't take long before he caught up with one of the signatures, which turned out to be that odd girl from the airship. The other two signatures were passed by him as he made to catch up with the girl. The two massive bear-grimm stalked behind her quietly, eying the newcomer as he approached. "Good Morning, Adrian." He greeted. "You're being followed by two Ursa." He said, getting straight to the point. He wanted to see her fight the creatures to get a read on her fighting style, but he would intervene if needed. After all, the girl seemed like she could handle herself well if she wouldn't trip over nothing.

"Yep, spare clip." He said, taking a glance backwards before continuing his march. "Don't shake it too much or it'll blow your arm off." He warned. "Your name fits though, Chat A Ton." He finished. "Come on, Grimm are a comin and I'd rather not be trying to scrape what's left of you from them gun damn beast maws to send to your family." He peeked through a bush before pulling back and grinning. "Right, past this bush here's a Deathstalker in a clearing, Want to go blow it up?" He said, letting go off his Butcher and deploying his aptly named Destroyer equipped with regular grenades. "Fuck the forest." He said solemnly as he rushed through the bush and began to open fire.

For the first time in a long time, Jasmine didn't know what to do.

She had been training to fight monsters - not gravity. Her weaponry didn't have a high-enough caliber to launch herself with, and her semblance had no physical elements to it at all. Her stomach sank and her pulse quickened a bit. Maybe her aura could soften the impact, but then she'd be left largely defenseless and possibly injured in a forest full of grimm. It was going to be just like that night so many years ago that she'd tried to forget about, and no amount of Augury was going to help her do anything except see just how much pain she was going to be in, in the next few moments. Not to mention that tree branch that was about to clothesline her- wait a moment.

Jasmine's hands leapt to one of her weapons and hurled the blade forward, slicing the branch off at the base. She grabbed it in both hands, holding it out more straight like a gymnast's pole. True to the metaphor, the branch slammed into a pair of trees and became caught on the other branches, turning the whole thing into a pole she could swing off of. Jasmine's momentum was now largely in a forward direction, and she tucked backward with her feet out. She 'landed' on the tip of a tree, which bent, and bent and bent...until she was balanced mere feet from the ground. She jumped off and the tree whipped back up like a slingshot. The blind girl brushed herself off and shook away the shock of the moment. A deep breath escaped her; she had gotten lucky this time, she needed a better landing strategy. While she thought on that, she wandered off to go and recover her discarded gun.
