1. 1,800,000 Credits.
Jeez-Louise. The total amount of that whole goodie page Psychie just provided us - if we were somehow able to get 100% of their value (which we'll be lucky to get half!) is 1,522,000. Half of that? 761,000 credits (since the Barter skill is useless in Palladium).

1,800,000-761,000 = 1,039,000 credits.

Yeah. We're starting this game as 3rd level characters with over 1,000,000 credits in debt. Great.

A. I don't think we're going to Germany anytime soon.
B. According to our GM, no one is willing to give us honest work.
C. Kiss goodbye that entire page of goodies because we'll have to sell ALL of it just to make a dent in our scam-lord's bill. Why?

4. Your team had thought that you were doing a good service in exchange for supplies, repairs to your vehicles, and ammo. This was a scam, and now everyone knows that you are on the hook for a boatload of money and are not willing to help you with honest work to get you out from under your financial obligations and in the process, pissing off the businessman that owns most of the town you are currently in.
Terrific.

Mind, I'm just learning this so don't expect me to be enthusiastic about a page full of goodies we don't seem to be able to keep. As a player, I'm liking the challenges! I'm just also seeing the kind of pit we're having to start in. And it's no pothole. Most of these thoughts are coming from what little I know.

Plus, in this story, we got scammed. That makes me question the bastard that scammed us. Why aren't we nailing him to the wall? We're only 3rd level - it's highly likely we couldn't stop his scamming days if we tried.

As far as this town is concerned, if they're not willing to give us honest work because we got scammed by this guy, then it sounds like they have reason to fear him (or at least not cross him). Else, why not help those who are otherwise able and willing to do adventuring work?

Finally, Psychie said "town." Towns aren't known for trucking in millions of credits of gear, vehicles, etc.. That's the realm of cities, usually. Or really really BIG towns in Rifts Earth. Aren't we starting off in Florida? I can't imagine the dinosaurs carry much in the way of valuable items. Hmm.

Psychie Psychie Is any of this "on the money" if you don't mind the pun? Am I missing something? Several somethings perhaps?

I don't want to give away too many details, but while the party is wallowing in self-pity for your current situation, you'll be approached by a man looking to get you to do some escort work for him in exchange for paying off your debt.

So, we are all trying to find a way out of . . . what? Indentured servitude?

"Escort work." This might be our ride to Germany.

Either way, guys. I can't recommend keeping or selling anything we've got until the start of game and get a good look-see into what the entire situation is. If the man here is willing to (somehow) settle the entire debt? Hey, great! Let's keep the entire stash! But if not, then what can we afford to part with, right?

Do you guys agree?

I personally would hope to be able to keep the stuff on that list. Before we start making any plans to part with any of it, lets see how the initial scene runs. Then, if we determine that we need something specific, we can discuss our options.

That is precisely what I am suggesting. =)

Wooo!

I have added a npc to the character thread that likes to tag along with you guys.

Sylvie is a wood sprite, and despite her tiny size of just six inches tall, she has a very large personality. Quite mischievous, she had taken a liking to Raven and spends much of her time flitting about around the Cyber Knight.

Why does this ring a bell? If my memory serves (and anything is possible), I seem to recall a spirited little "jinx" from a previous Psychie game that didn't quite make it in. But this time, it seems, she has!

If all that's right, Dreamy and I look forward to "meeting" the little miss! =)

It has been the week from hell. After a disastrous attempt to earn some credits doing some honest work , Raven's truck had gotten ripped up badly by a T-rex, Dreamy's robot horse was mauled, body armor has been damaged, and everyone has burned through so much ammo it will take a couple of million credits just to break even!
Psychie Psychie I am confused. Fix me, please?

So we're 1.8 million in the red with the biggest jerk in town and now we need two more million to repair the gear we've got (Raven's Mountaineer, Troy the robot unicorn)? Jeez. We appear more screwed now than we were first led to believe. It's one thing to be in debt; it's quite another to possibly lack the means to do something about it.

For example, our body armor is damaged too? To what extent?

If we can't afford a hotel room, it's pretty obvious we can't afford to get needed items fixed.

Could we have numbers and details, please? Without knowing the specifics, we could get ourselves killed early on. For example, I doubt someone like our friendly neighborhood 'borg is going to want to go into combat if we find out he's down 75% of his Mega-damage Capacity?

It's not both; I had just summarized a bit on my post. It is a total bill of 1.8 million to get everything fixed up.

I'll give exact details soon.

Ah! I thought we owed this money to get the gear we have, not to repair what we already own. Okies. =)

As promised here are some numbers for you.

All your MDC ammo supplies are reduced to 50% of full. Raven has a full supply of wood rounds for his shotgun, but you're SDC rounds are also at half.

Body armor is down by 25%.

Raven's truck and the robot horse are also seriously damaged with only 25% of their MDC remaining.

Is this the thread I'm supposed to check? Just seems like the most recent one and where I can find information about character creation? I saw someone mention level 3.
