Sorry that you are suffering. I'll have you delay, and hopefully you'll feel better soon.

Hope you're feeling better now, Purr Purr .
Just wanted to warn you ahead of time: I likely won't be able to get a post up today and tomorrow. After that, I'll be back on a regular schedule.

I hope that you get better soon Dann. honestly i didn't know that ADHD could cause headaches. I've never had them and i hope that you won't have to deal with it for long.

Would people be okay with removing non IC posts from the IC thread?

As a side note, Trent could always fire at the last demon if Terra didnt kill it.

It's a nice, quiet day for me so far. Have to leave to get my five year old from school in about an hour and a half, so then my quiet will go away.

It is a d20. If you have any bonuses to your roll on your sheet, don't forget to add them in. The roll is more to see if you get a good line of sight than anything else.

Ok, everyone! I am putting a quick notice here to tell you all that I am going to be putting all xp awards in the Character thread, and for your first few encounters, you have reached and the IC posts you've been doing, it puts you all at 3,000 xp. I do believe that levels everyone up, so please post your add-on rolls here to keep from cluttering up the IC or Character threads.

Great job, everyone!

I'll post tomorrow sometime. I'm going to bed now. I have things I'd like to say and share, but my bed is calling and I would be wise to answer it. Good night, folks! =)

Alright - just returned from a trip that included a broken car and an awesome mechanic in the middle of nowhere - no posts today, I'll catch up tomorrow. I'll be back on the regular posting schedule from here, or at least I hope so.

Also: Yay, exp!

Aw Silanon Silanon ! I am glad you found excellent help! Nothing like having a broken-down vehicle in the boonies. Yikes!

I hope that you get better soon Dann. honestly i didn't know that ADHD could cause headaches. I've never had them and i hope that you won't have to deal with it for long.

Everybody? Thank you so much for the good feelings! You are terrific!

It's important for those of us who live with ADHD to understand; ADD/ADHD is a spectrum. Just like autism. A spectrum is like a rainbow. You get some strong colors, but you don't really have much of the others.

With ADHD, some folks get the migraines, some folks have never had one in their lives, but maybe instead they have trouble with authority, reading, energy management, lack of self-control, depression, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, or fits of anger, and so on. Heck, I know someone who has ADD (that's Attention Deficit Disorder minus the hyperactive elements). Her mind goes straight into overdrive when she is stressed out. It's like imagine the Millenium Falcon punching it into hyperspace... but where in the hell did the brake go? How do we stop?! HAAAALP! For her, it's either take a certain pill (which happens to be the right drug at the right dosage) or she just psychologically crumbles for a few hours. Hearing her talk about it, it's the most helpless feeling I can imagine. It's like you become someone else. A stranger. At least until the drug kicks in.

My heart goes out to her. I mean, even in the throes of my worst, most debilitating migraines where I am literally praying for sleep and relief, because the world is too loud, too bright, it's too hard to think, and one side or the other of my brain just will not stop with the fucking pain, at least I am still myself! Without that pill, she's not.

So while we have the same issue (ADD), we are on completely different parts of the ADD spectrum.

As for my spectrum, I have what's called Hyperkinetic Disorder! It's kind of cool most of the time, but I disagree with the medical term. A "disorder" is literally something that negatively affects you. Like, say, bipolar (what they used to call manic depressive). I prefer to call it Hyperkinetic Syndrome. A syndrome is basically a bunch of symptoms that collectively alter what you are. In my case, four different parts of my brain basically did not grow/form like nearly everyone else's! Here's how I really like to describe it - "If ADHD symptoms are like toppings on a pizza, then I am a supreme pizza!" Hah!

So, my perspective is different. For example, I don't understand the concept of racism (I'm not trying to be cool here, folks; I honestly cannot grasp the idea of, "You and everyone who looks like you sucks because your skin color, ethnic background, religion, creed, national origin, race, handicap, etc. Here's the funny part - I am told I'm not missing much. So I guess that's a good thing! I'm O.K. with this!). =)

Also, except in very rare cases, ADD/ADHD/Hyperkinetic Syndrome does not go away. There is no cure. Only treatment. I am well-versed in what treatments work best for me and I try to help anyone (including total strangers) who even knows someone with ADD with the resources I've come across that have provided positive results. As for those very rare cases, sometimes kids grow out of ADD as they are becoming adults. It's just leaves them. They just lose all of the symptoms. That sure as heck wasn't the case with me.

To paraphrase the ADD book Delivered from Distraction by Dr. Hallowell and Dr. Ratey, my brain was made by Ferrari (performance car manufacturer), but my brakes were made by Schwinn (bicycle company)! Like this rant, I can just go and go and go. But sometimes, I don't know how or when to stop. That's why some of my posts are so very long. I think it's why I can keep so many facts and details straight and run two quality games while playing in two others, all with decent writing skills and characters I find interesting and fun without giving up anything I do in my Real Life! Yay!

So I don't know what it's like to have a brain like yours (I mean that in general). I've never been normal. I don't know what it's like. I never will. And that's O.K. =)

I agree that there really is no such as normal, but "neuro-typical" (that statement comes from the wonderful Jessica McCabe, an ADD spokesperson on YouTube who has been helping thousands of people like me with her YouTube channel - go look up her Ted Talk video if you've gotten this far into my rant! It's 18 minutes of pure gold!).

So, yeah. If you know someone who has ADD. Maybe they want help just getting by, you know, just trying to get through life. You're welcome to send them my way or ask me for some of the things that have helped me on this trip called life. Toss me a Private Conversation and we'll go from there. I can provide roads to help them get treatment. I'll request they get diagnosed by a licensed specialist. Not all folks who think they have ADD actually do. But don't worry about me; it's confirmed (and has been confirmed for a long time by some of the nation's best specialists)! No doubt there! Ha ha! =)

I am grateful to be me, but getting here wasn't easy, nor is maintaining it. But, when I'm sharing stuff like this with you, or roleplaying and imagining far-off universes and fantasies and science-fiction-driven stories and going places only we can go... it's worth it! It's magical! Roleplaying and martial arts will probably be my favorite hobbies for life and ADHD has a lot to do with that. =)

Thanks for listening to all that! Back to the game! Wheeee! =)

Oh, and if I didn't say it already, Hooray for XP! Thank you, Sherwood! Thank you, fellow players! =)

And... I realize I've just spent all my remaining energy for the day writing the previous post instead of writing an in-character post. But it was worth it!

I'll try again tomorrow. Take care, friends! =)

Purr Purr Thanks for sharing - and thanks for the offer, means a lot to me to see that kind of attitude. There is noone I'd need to send your way right now, but if I get to know someone, I'll gladly present him the option.

Silanon Silanon Thanks, Silanon! Please do! =)

O.K. Time for me to finally catch up here.

1. I agree with Dano Dano - I like the idea of keeping the IC and OOC threads separate too. =) (EDIT: Before typing this, I was thinking, "Who put an OOC comment in IC? I don't recall that and that's unusual. After typing this, I realize it's my post OOC in IC! Hah! Hey folks? Can I get a "DEEERRRRRP?!" =) I wrote (since edited): "Go get 'im, Psychie! Silanon sounds like he'll be busy today?" Life is good!)
2. DraconianWarrior DraconianWarrior How is your weekend treating you, Draco?
3. Everybody - I've been meaning to ask - if you feel like sharing this, how did you come up with your Username/Call Signs/RPNation name (whatever you call it)? I know Sherwood's, of course, but names like Psychie, Dano, DraconianWarrior, Silanon, and Epiphany came from somewhere cool. I'll start. =)
I genuinely liked the sound of it, and upon thinking of it, something in my instincts told me to stick with it. I got a really good feeling years ago when it happened and I follow those feelings.

It was only some time later that I thought, "So what the heck is a Dannigan?" Come to find out, in John Wayne shows of black-and-white yesteryear, there was a character named Dannigan! Apparently, he was an old fellow, wise and good-natured, with a terrific smile. I believe in the show he was an Irish priest and a buddy of John Wayne's character. I felt, "Hey, I like that!" And so I keep on with the name (you're all welcome to call me "Dann" if you like). =)
