Before I knew that our Psi-Operator was going to have a large transport truck, I had planned on giving the group via Trent the Badger to be able to carry everyone. With Terra's Automations, you'll have to use a flatbed trailer to move them until she hits second level and can Operate both at once. At that point you can either ditch the trailer, or you can keep it to use for extra storage. I believe that Silanon's character has a motorcycle also.

Well, folks? How in the heck are we going to get a transport truck, Badger, two automatons with a flatbed trailer, two drones, and Heaven knows what else there?

I'm thinking Epiphany's idea of taking down a Slaver ship is more attractive by the moment. What Shifter is going to be able to get all this there and back, assuming we can find a high-enough level Shifter (not to mention brave-enough) to go with us? In my background, Shifters could port entire parties and such, but a small convoy like the one we seem to be bringing?

Once the Rift is opened, it can fit the vehicles easily. It is up to you how you approach the mage to try and get him either to just send you one way and find your way back, get the mage to open a Rift on the Atlantis side, or third option is that one of your passengers might know how to do this.

O.K. Because I think finding our way back is a bad idea. Plus, there is no guarantee any of the former slaves will be in any condition to cast something like that. I mean, if they did have the means to get off of Atlantis via Rift, then why in the heck do they need us at all? Just call in that taxi from Delaware or wherever they might Rift to and they're set. =)

Another option is to see if we can get our own means to open the Rift back to stateside? A scroll of a spell like that wouldn't be cheap, but we do have a true wizard in our Techno-Wizard, so perhaps that's a way to go?

If it were easy, anyone could do this. I am willing to entertain ideas from you guys as to how to get across the distance of ocean, and so far, the Rift idea is very interesting. I honestly had not thought of that, expecting you to have to travel to the coast and get a boat or barge and sail over. I just need some clarity as to how the team will make this happen.

I think the ship is going to be the best / safest way.... I'd rather not have drift blunders...

And with as evil as Sherwood is, I can see him having us pop out of the Rift somewhere completely off the wall.

Lets have Trent use his contacts to get us a ship.

How are we going to make such a ship "Atlantis-friendly"? If we take out a Slaver ship, well, they're expecting that. We show up in anything they're not expecting and we're basically advertising us as targets. Think anyone has a used Slaver ship for cheap? Ha ha! =)

Some thoughts.

1. I'm pretty sure Atlantis is not expecting anyone to take out a slaver ship and hijack it to take them back to Atlantis. The Splurgoth and their minions largely view the rest of the world as a hunting ground (with lots of land for other conquerors to take over if they want to). The notion that a bunch of us would deliberately attack a barge and use it for transportation to Atlantis is probably akin to the idea of a deer finding a flat-bed truck during hunting season and jumping in the back in hopes of using it to reach a hunting camp. ;)

2. That said, a boat to Atlantis is entirely possible. We'll be going through literally the most dangerous part of the planet for dimensional instability (the Bermuda triangle aka. the Devil's Triangle) but the actual west shoreline of Atlantis isn't patrolled or defended against. As memory serves, the Splurgoth like it when guests show up, as the top 1/3rd of the west coast is the private hunting preserve of the Splurgoth themselves and the southern 2/3rds of the coastline is the private hunting preserve of the rest of their minions. ;)

Both avenues are possible.

The west coast of the isle is very desolate with no cities listed there. All the main population on the isle is on the other side of the mountains. What we will probably have to deal with is the random wandering monsters, and any possible hunting parties going after big game or looking for these escaped prisoners.

Just a short heads-up - the new semester starts today, so I'll likely be online less often than during the last few days. Also, there will be two weeks coming up where I'll be even less available, I'll hopefully remember to warn you ahead of time.

About the actual topic: If we ask a shifter for help, we'll certainly need a way back - we don't accomplish anything if we're stuck on the island with about then people instead of the initial four. Don't know if scrolls like that are a thing, casting those spells would certainly be out of Shaona's expertise - either way, that'd be damn expensive, plus the shifter won't work for free either. Plus, we don't know if it's even safe. Capturing a slaver ship is certainly less expensive, but it'll take more time to get there (and time isn't on our side, I reckon). That said, we're not quite an experienced boat crew - if things go wrong on the open sea, we might be in for a lot of trouble.

From my point of view, it comes down to: Do I want to fight sea monsters, or rift abberations?

Dano, your list is good, and yes, your Badger comes with the Observation Deck. It is currently equipped with a large water cannon with two fifty gallon drums of water.

Water cannon? That doesn't sound very useful... Gonna have to swap that out for something more deadly... the laser turret would be more appealing. I cannot remember if there was a cost to those since they were standard?

and

are the two that I'd like to get the Badger equipped with... if the Ion cannon is not do-able, then at least the laser turret for some kind of offensive capabilities.

Hey Dano Dano ? Text quoting is a little clear if you either hit the quote button at the bottom of a person's post, or if you highlight the section of the post you want to close and then right-click it and select Reply, it'll show up in your message box.

It ends up looking like this:

Just thought I'd share. =)

Sherwood Sherwood How much of the Atlantis-based knowledge we've just been talking about do we know in-character?

My fellow players are bringing up some pretty good points here. =)

Unless/until Sherwood objects, I'm assuming Kimberly 'remembers' Atlantis, at least in part. She's particularly familiar with slaver barges, since most of her ancestors served on them. I imagine she has a general idea of the rough layout of Atlantis, but for the most part knows about as much of the west half of Atlantis (which is where we're going) as someone in New York City knows about the Ferris Lake Wild Forest region in the upper part of New York State. I.e. she's probably visited a few times but isn't going to be much better at finding her way around than anyone else (and probably less, given she's blind).

I also envision she has good memories of life in Splynn, up to and including places her ancestors lived, shops they frequented, main traffic routes, etc. But since the plan is to avoid major population centers, I doubt that will come up.

As for the trip to Atlantis, the Blind Warrior Women typically make those trips in the slaver barges and haven't had a lot of issue that way. She knows the route to Atlantis is dangerous, filled with rift activity, but probably can't speak to whether an air or sea route is safer/riskier.

is know a good time to mention that my truck can hall the flatbed trailer and the cargo box that i use for storage at the same time? as long as the total weight does not exceed 120 tons then my truck can pull it, and also my helicopter drones are only 4 feet long so they dont take up that much space,

about the subject at hand, the main reason i would like to hire a shifter to join us is becuase i really dont want to go through the demon sea and we have around 30 million credits that we can use for transportation

hey guys im currently working on my senior project that i need to graduate, anybody have any ideas? i need five hours dedicated towards the project by thursday night, im hoping to do it on my job but just in case i was thinking about somehow useing roleplay for my senior project, any ideas?

Edit:

Note: i also need to have a mentor for my senior project

Is your truck a tractor trailer? If so, is it essential that you bring along? What is the trailer for? Automatons? is that just Power Armor? If we really are trying to avoid detection, having a convoy probably isn't the best idea....

Anyone else have some thoughts on this?

Everyone Everyone I was hoping to get how we wanted to be transported sorted out before I put up another post for Trent so he had a clear objective.... or maybe we start 'duking' it out IC over how and what we are bringing.... lol

I'll be better prepared for that conversation, Dano, when I hear back from Sherwood. Gradicus spent some 10 years in Atlantis, especially Splynn. Perhaps he performed as a gladiator in other parts of Atlantis, but that to me is completely up to Sherwood.

If Sherwood says the only thing my character knows are the slave markets, the island where he was trained, and the Arena of Champions, then that's all I've got to work with.

On the other hand, my character is naturally curious and has a love of research. If Sherwood says my character was able to learn something useful in those 10 years, then I'll have that to work with.

I'll be more comfortable moving ahead once I learn what that is. I just don't want to come off like my character is some kind of scholar who knows everything we need, or some such meta-gamed nonsense. Gradicus the Red Edge was a gladiator. I am thinking whatever education he received in that life was born of opportunity, his masters' whims, and sheer luck, right?

Edit: That is, of course, if that's all right with you Sherwood? I am sure you have enough on your plate just creating this game. Would you like to be the one to tell me what my character knows, or shall I do some dice rolling and save you the trouble?

I am pretty sure that all my technomage knows about Atlantis itself is what she'll learn by speed-reading through the available books - so it'd be great if you could give me an idea of how far that kind of knowledge will get me as well, Sherwood Sherwood . Of course, we can just leave that open for now as well, and deal with the details when I really come up with lesser-known insights.

Guys, I think that everyone is overthinking things a bit. At the moment, your job doesn't involve entering one of the major population centers of the island at all. If you were to try and do so, it would most likely wipe you all out from the sheer numbers of monsters that are loyal to the Splurgoth and would turn on you. The four refugees are currently hiding in the mountains to the west of Dragcona.

I will say that this will not be a cakewalk and that there will be some encounters that you'll have to deal with, but it is not designed to be a party killer. If you decide to try and hire a Mage to assist you, the payday you are offering will be enough to get a spellcaster that is willing to help. It will not be a 'snap of the fingers' thing to get you there; it still involves some travel to get to a Ley Line Nexus to help fuel the spell. If you guys want to take a ship, you can hire a cargo vessel with enough capacity to get everyone over to the island.

Just don't overthink this! We haven't even started the adventure and you are all still sitting around Brazamal's library enjoying his Scotch Whiskey.

Now, to address a few other things:

Dano Dano I have a full description of the Badger posted in the Lore tab at the top of the page. It includes all of the standard weapons on it (forward railgun, mini missiles, laser turret), and had a water cannon on the observation platform as a anti-vampire weapon. It can be removed and replaced with another weapon, but you'll need a dedicated gunner for it.

DraconianWarrior DraconianWarrior has a repair bay in his transport to be able to fix his own damage. As a Full Conversion Borg, he can't just heal like the rest of you guys can, and needs the hardware. It is possible that you can move the repair bay into the lower level of the Badger and still have plenty of room left over for more gear and passengers. It is up to you guys, though.

Some of you have personal knowledge of Atlantis. Purr Purr has actually been there, and has plenty of information on the slave markets and would have some knowledge of the wilds on the other side of the mountains, even if you have never been there. Rumors always fly around the slave pens of some escaped prisoner that has made his/her way to the wilds to escape and try and find a way off the island.
Epiphany Epiphany has some racial knowledge of the island, but I'm going to say that it is spotty and sometimes I'll step in and say you do not have any info on a subject.
Psychie Psychie has stated that her character has never even been to Atlantis, so she knows little about the island except what she's heard from her fellow magic users and dimensional travelers.
Silanon Silanon might have some lore picked up over the years, reflected in any of the Lore Skills that he has.

None of the rest of you will have any information on the inner workings of the island, and all you would know is that Atlantis is a scary place of monsters and slavers, big nasty stuff.

I will say that I like that everyone is communicating so much with one another. Just bring some of this discussion to the IC tab and you'll help yourselves out by earning more xp for playing in character.

Tell us more about the senior project? What kinds of project are you looking for? What's the intended output or outcome you need? I'm curious what kind of project could include a job or a roleplay. :)
