Sherwood Sherwood So - just a few thoughts about equipment:

- Is there a recommended way to raise PP, either by magic or by equipment? I certainly could use a bit of aid in the strike-department.

Something to keep in mind for mages with a width of spells; PP is pretty difficult to raise but bonuses to strike aren't, necessarily. Many spells create effects that have a natural bonus to strike. Another thing is to set yourself up with spells that strip targets of their ability to fight. Blinding Flash is a level one Invocation, for example, that inflicts a solid -10 to strike, parry and dodge if you land it. Cloud of Smoke's also good for a -5 and it's a decent area effect (and would probably scramble a Blind Warrior Woman's radar entirely). Blind is a level 4 Invocation with nice penalties for that matter and Chromatic Protection gives you all the benefits of those debuffs with the perk of only apply it against someone attacking you, so you don't have to juggle area of effect issues.

Book of Magic's got a lot of options in it. Penalizing an enemy's ability to dodge or parry is just as good as giving yourself a bonus to strike. Better, if the target is penalized against everyone on your side hitting them. Might want to give them a look.

Aircraft are a possibility. You would need to have a clear spot large enough to have the transport land or you won't have any way of unloading your vehicles.
Or we could find a VTOL vehicle and not worry about having to find a runway to land on.

True. Its all up to you guys to figure out how you are going to get there and back.

Epiphany Epiphany Thanks for the advice - I already have some of those spells on my list, and I'll certainly try to get more of them - it's more about what I can do in addition to that, just in case I ever run low on PPE.

Sherwood Sherwood Glad you had fun of the festival, no need to apologize: you were actually an hour early, only just stood up :) I'll take an amulet, one of those cheap helmets and the needed gem - and then I bloody hope that we get at least one guy out of there, or I'll be in debt the rest of my life...

About the transport: I like the hijacking plan, if only because I get to take a look at those vessels that way.

I think aircraft are out of the question.... the one APC I was looking at (Skybunker) was 23 mil and that cant even hold my Bager... I think a cargo ship is going to be the way to go to get all of our stuff there... not sure how big the slave ships are... but that might he another possibility...

I dont know how to do those "spoilers" I see others doing so I apologize for all of the screenshots...

Sherwood Sherwood just confirming that I can "ask" for these:
1)Robit tarp to cover the badger
2) HUD glasses (with built in coms?) - a helmet doesn't fit Trent's style
3) Robot floating camera
4) Sleep Safe "Sensor Sentry"
5) Light Executive MDC Business Suit Coat (grey)
6) Executive MDC Slacks (grey)
7) Armored Executive MDC trench coat
8) Does my Badger come with an observation deck? (If not, add that to my Christmas list lol)

Just type this and replace the () with angular brackets.

(SPOILER="ab")

Just insert this in the first bracket - you don't need to change anything in the second one.

Sherwood Sherwood or Purr Purr
Question again, how can a shifter open a portal in an exact location to a place they have never been? If they cannot accurately transport the group and all of our "belongings" it would be pretty useless and we wouldn't have any element of stealth or surprise...

I would think safety vs time saved would be more important on a mission as 'delicate' as this.

Side question - do laser turrets produce an audible sound when firing? If so, would it be considerably less than a rail gun?

Epiphany Epiphany - your description of the slave ship indicated an 'auto return' feature if the slaver dies... does that mean others would have been alerted?

It... might be best if I get this off my plate, sorry for all the effort put in to me but it might be best if folks withh more in setting knowledge do the thing.

If you want Sherro sherwood hes all yours, its... all kinda going over my head and I have very little time to actually research and look over stuff on my own time, my free time currently has a gun held to it and... Well...

Very sorry folks.

Sherwood Sherwood ive done some light reading on Atlantis (haven't gotten very far yet) and ive discovered that while humans are generally not allowed in Atlantis they can enter for the most part unharmed by the population if they are accompanied by a respected creature i.e. a dragon

would it be at all possible for lord Brazamal to come along?

It's up to Sherwood. There's no real detail on the slave barge beyond its combat capabilities (there's not even a listed speed for the ship, other than the implication that it's able to fly back to Atlantis within no later than 72 hours). Communication doesn't seem to be a big deal for them, though. In part because they don't use technology (and magic's not great at sending messages over thousands of miles). In part because the Slaver Minions themselves are barely more than animals and not really up for talking, and the Altarain Blind Warrior Women are subordinate to it. My hunch is "No" but there's no indication in the text either way.

Bear in mind, I'm RPing Kimberly's plan based on her specific familiarity with the slaver barges. While she was born free, Altarains have a racial memory and the last thirteen or so of her ancestors served on slaver barges so she is presumably pretty familiar with their capabilities and usual operations. I'm also assuming she has some memories of Splynn (given the city has a million of her kind in it). How much or how little she knows about the rest of Atlantis is up for debate, though, and that includes things like 'emergency communication systems' that the Splurgoth may have never informed her or her ancestors about.

Dude. If the posts are too much to keep up with, fair enough, I can respect that. But don't let all this gearing and inventory building and research throw you off. You're playing an Anti-Monster and, mechancially, that's a nicely straightforward character to play. You've already got a very solid build. If you stick with that, you'll be fine.

And if not, fair enough and well wishes. I've always enjoyed gaming with you and hope to do more of it in the future!

Given he's a big NPC, probably not.

You do raise a good point about our approach, though. There's a couple of ways that come to mind for me.

1. We simply avoid detection wherever possible (and save Sherwood from having to write city scenes). Strong probability of having to run and gun should we encounter anything that wants to check us out. Doable, though.

2. We fake having a minion with us who 'owns' the rest of the party as slaves. If someone knows magic that can create illusions or disguises, it's a good way to go. For that matter, if we do hijack a slaver barge and someone bonds with the staff, bearing one of those staves is a sign of having earned Splurgoth favor and that person might be able to pull off a 'minion' status, with the rest of us their slaves.

For that matter, I think Kimberly could probably fake being a Minion herself. It helps that she's actually Altarain and speaks Atlantian Demongogian natively. The Blind Warrior Women are technically considered 'elite minions' (if on the very bottom) so she could either fake being a prominent Altarian or she could pretend to be in service to a greater minion, with the party being the greater minion's property or something.

Lots of options!

Its... alotta lore and such that really I got no time to look at, and sadly I don't got enough motivation to spread this thin... i'm sorry.

So, at this point, I have both Dannigan and Silanon wanting to buy the talisman, correct? Is anyone else going to go with it?

Yes for me. I take it the flamethrower and swap to W.P. Heavy is a go?

Orikanyo Orikanyo It's your game-time too. However, I agree with Epiphany - the only folks in the game that have to know the lore are the folks that actually do. In other words, Psychie and I can play our Atlanteans because we've read up on them. Your personality for Sherro is just terrific! Plus, being an Anti-Monster, I think you know all of the lore that you need to. This isn't a history class, right? The main focus is the action, not the lore. Leave the lore to the folks who know it and just have fun!

On the other hand, if my memory serves, I believe you mentioned you had precious little free time even when Sherwood sent the invitations out (didn't you go from a "Sorry, but no" to "Heck with it! I'm in!"?). If this or any game is costing you in Real Life, then yeah! Bow out gracefully and maybe return in the future? From what I've seen so far, you're a pretty cool person to RP with and it would be a shame to lose you, especially permanently. Just something to keep in mind, right? =)

Whatever happens, remember - "And he's single, ladies!" Ha ha ha! I love that part! =)

@Sherwood or @Dannigan

Heya Dano Dano !
Unless Sherwood has changed any of this, here are the default Rifts answers.

Re: Shifters. Remember that Clairvoyance (Divination) is a form of magic, too. As specialists in summoning, they can also get the answers they need by summoning supernatural creatures who have been there (which might be all they need, depending on the Game Master). In other words, Shifters don't have to have ever left Earth to know their way around the Megaverse. There are many ways for them to get the answers they need to provide a portal to where they are trying to go. However, this sort of thing is most definitely left in the hands of very capable (i.e. high-level and probably expensive) Shifters.

Per Game Masters Guide (and a few other sources), lasers do not emit sound in Rifts. It's one big reason they're used by assassins.

The choice is up to you, of course. As usual, you are always welcome in my games. If you change your mind again, Sherro will be waiting.

If I sent an elder dragon along, he would end up being an unbalancing factor in the game. Since you are supposed to be not having to enter any of the major cities, you shouldn't need to worry about that. The current plan is to rendezvous with the four refugees waiting for you in the mountains.

Yes for me. I take it the flamethrower and swap to W.P. Heavy is a go?
Yes, go ahead.

1)Robit tarp to cover the badger
2) HUD glasses (with built in coms?) - a helmet doesn't fit Trent's style
3) Robot floating camera
4) Sleep Safe "Sensor Sentry"
5) Light Executive MDC Business Suit Coat (grey)
6) Executive MDC Slacks (grey)
7) Armored Executive MDC trench coat
8) Does my Badger come with an observation deck? (If not, add that to my Christmas list lol)
Dano, your list is good, and yes, your Badger comes with the Observation Deck. It is currently equipped with a large water cannon with two fifty gallon drums of water.

Thanks, Sherwood!

So... just what kind of vehicles, robots (not characters), and heavy equipment are we talking about bringing here? And how in the world are we supposed to keep it all sneaky and quiet with it? I mean, if we get caught, it could be game over. So... don't get caught, right?
