Realistic or Modern Progress City: The Next Generation of Heroes (Accepting if Interested)

Alizeh watched as the young girl disappeared into what she assumed was an examination room. She sat on one of those uncomfortable plastic blue chairs as she waited, watching a wide range of different patients enter and exit. Everytime a door opened she turned to check who was leaving the room but each time it wasn't the young girl. After some time, she wasn't sure how long Alizeh saw a familiar red haired being wheeled out of one of the hospital rooms by a middle aged looking man with dark hair with a few noticeable grey strands. She smiled in relief as the girl didn't look too bad. She noticed they had tended to her burns as well. Alizeh hesitated for a moment. She barely knew the girl, let alone related to her, but she didn't know what would happen to her if she said the entire truth. She thought of how reluctant the girl was to let her help when they first met. With that in mind Alizeh decided continue to help the young girl. "Ah well, she's close friend of mine who's staying at my house for a while." She said keeping good eye contact and with a slight smile to make herself as believable as possible. The reason the girl used sign language made sense now. Alizeh just nodded her head to show she 'knew'.

The doctor nodded and smiled, "Alright Ma'am, we'll be checking her out soon, just make sure she stays in her wheelchair until the next appointment. I'd suggest having her gain quite a bit of weight, she is severely under." he finished sternly. "You can see her now." He finished with a nod and gestured to room 13.

Inside the small room, the red headed girl lay on the small bed with a mask over her nose and mouth to help her breath. She slowly opened her eyes with a small groan to take in the surrounding space. The wheelchair next to the bed rather disturbed her. Where was she? All Astra could really remember was a warm touch and something sticky. "Mommy?" She whispered through the mask. Slowly she moved herself into a semi sitting position to look around.

Alizeh nodded firmly to show she understood the doctor and his requests. "Thank you doctor." She said to the man before walking into room thirteen. The room was mainly white and light blues creating a cold feeling to the room. She saw the young girl and walked over to the bed she was peacefully laying on. As Alizeh got closer the girl had began to look around and become a bit more alert. She whispered something through her mask. Alizeh moved into the girl's view and smiled. "Do you remember me? Its Alizeh." She said softly as the young girl sat herself up slightly. After the doctors comments on the girl's small figure Alizeh realized that she must've been malnourished. She made a mental note to make sure she sorted that when they got back home. "How are you feeling?" She asked with the same soft tone as before.

The lights blinded Astra at first when she fully opened her eyes, however when she saw Alizeh, her face lite up. "Mommy!" She cried, reaching for her new 'mommy'. Her real mother may have been gone, but Alizeh had quickly become Astra's favorite person. Maybe it was because she was so kind like her mother, or perhaps it was how she seemed to care, either way the red headed girl was attached to Alizeh. Knowing her new mom couldn't understand sign language, she didn't try and sign, just reach out with bandaged hands for a hug.

@NightSky

(I found this hilarious.)

Alizeh's eyes widened in shock at being addressed as 'mummy'. She almost questioned whether or not there was anyone else in the room, but no it was directed to Alizeh. She watched as the girl stretched out her arms towards her. She didn't have it in her to tell the young girl directly she was not her mother so she smiled softly and hugged the young girl. Maybe being a mother wasn't too bad, it was certainly unexpected but it filled Alizeh with a warm happy feeling. To know she was now safe.

@Echo Dreamsong

(Aww bless her she's such a sweet character. xD )

(Just wait xD )

Astra beamed from ear to ear as she hugged her 'Mommy' back. How long had it been since she last saw her real mom? Six, seven years? It felt good to hug someone before they tried to kill you. Yeah, people are really messed up aren't they... Seeing the doctor come in, Astra panicked and began signing random insults. 'STAY BACK CARROT FACE! EAT A FEATHER YOU TREE! GO HAVE SOME YOGURT YOU BANANA!' And many other strange things. The doctor carefully drew closer. "Alright Ma'am, we're going to check your friend out of the hospital now." The doctor reached his hand out to take of the mask, successfully scaring the living daylights out of Astra. The young girl screamed and hugged Alizeh tightly with small sobs wracking her body. The doctor took the oppritunity to pull of the mask. "Alright, warning, she may not be able to use that leg again. Keep her off of it at least until the next appointment. And then just sign here and you're good to go!" He handed Alizeh a pen and some legal release documents before walking out.

(Sorry to ruin this touchy feely moment but the plot must thicken)

Ghost was back in his main base watching a ginormous TV screen with even smaller TV's surrounding it playing different channels from the news. Ghost was admiring his handiwork. "Just a few more moments until the show begins. Time to bust out the popcorn." Just then a bunch of clouds covered the sun and all the lights in the city turned off. All sounds of a bustling city were absorbed into nothingness in the dark. Just then the huge screens that were all over the city light up and a shadowed figure appears. "Heroes." the voice was fake but deep. " My quarrel is not with these pathetic troopers, and police force but with you. Surrender yourselves to me and let us simply take you and we'll let all the others go unharmed. If you don't...(Zooms up to the area where a face would be and the figures eyes glow bright red.) We will find you by any... means... necessary!!!!" (At the end of those words a video reveals the governor who was beaten to a pulp with his cyber hand cut off along with many soldiers and guards on the blood stained ground. Even a few were hanging by the ceiling. "Remember that." The message ended there and the screens went black again and all the lights returned to normal but the city was still quiet. People murmuring all around to each other about what just happened. It filled the hearts of many in fear, and anxiety.

"That was quite the show eh Oracle? Well. I guess I may lay low for awhile. Don't want any of this to be traced back to me." There was a tone of disgust when Oracle spoke. "And the hand you borrowed." "Taken care of." "Witnesses?" " The building was simple to raid.Only robots. No cyborgs. I guess they weren't expecting an attack there. The fools didn't even set up a camera system." Ghost left the building in ruin. On the outside it looks fine. On the inside however. The machinery and guards were all ripped to shreds. The defense system was all discombobulated. A job like this is simple when one could just walk through the wall instead of using the door. The only tricky part was to use the governor's amputated cyber hand to unlock the tech. "I'm going to bed Oracle. Something tells me that this gig is going to last a good while."

The door clicked open as the doctor walked into the room. Feeling Astra tense next to her she comfortingly rubbed her back slowly to try and calm her. Alizeh gave the doctor a slight glare as he took of the mask, showing no sympathy to the young girl. Just after signing some documents the small TV in the hospital room began to flicker, switching itself on. Alizeh watched in horror as the message was delivered. "Why would they want all the heroes?" She questioned in confusion before realizing they must have her dad. She turned back to Astra. "Its going to be OK." She assured her but it almost felt as if she was trying to assure herself as well.

@Echo Dreamsong

Astra stared at the TV nervously before trying to swing her legs off the bed. That failed. She choked back a sob of pain and clung to her new mom as she trembled. "Mommy." She whimpered, not daring to look at her casted leg. She didn't quite understand why they wanted heroes, or what they classified as a hero, but being her she was curious. So very slowly she moved herself into the wheelchair and moved over to the door. She couldn't quite reach the handle, so Astra was stuck inside the room signing food related insults. Example: 'DIE YOU FAT CUCUMBER!' And many more.

She kept her arms loosely around Astra as she clung tightly to her. Alizeh gazed down at Astra with sadness in her eyes. It was upsetting to see the energetic young girl not being able to walk properly. After letting go of her Astra managed to get into the wheelchair and move herself to the door. Slowly Alizeh got up and walked behind her. she crouched down next to the wheelchair to get at Astra's height. "I know you probably want to know what's going on, but you'll just get more hurt." She admired the young girl's courage and determination but she didn't want her involved in this. The outcome didn't look very good for anyone at the moment.

@Echo Dreamsong

Astra looked down and away, not wanting to argue, but still wanting to go. Well, she would probably have to leave eventually, now was the time to do it. Astra quickly pulled the handle down and began wheeling herself out. Not as quickly as she would like, but it was okay. She got in the elevator and quickly closed it before anyone could get on. Once it hit the bottom she was gone. Out the door, out the lobby, into the streets. Where she promptly fell out of the chair. She had forgotten to buckle herself in. A painful mistake. One she didn't make when she pulled herself back up and began wheeling herself towards the central park to find these hero abductors.

A sliver haired girl sat on the roof of an abandoned apartment building, scheduled to be demolished within the next few hours. Her eyes seemed to glow against the night, almost as white as her hair. Corrin sighed, setting the bottle down and standing up. She pulled the leather jacket tighter, seemingly float and land gracefully on the ground littered with trash. Her footsteps echoed as she walked, occasionally the she would step on glass. A few minutes later, she hoped the chain link fence, and began walking in a random direction. She didn't feel like going home, knowing there was nobody there right now, but she couldn't go to the hospital like she normally would. She couldn't face her brother at the moment, knowing he'd be angry with her.

A hooded man sat on the rooftop, one leg outstretched, and the other bent. He was looking through a old notebook of his, his hitlist. He had killed a lot of Heros in this past year, more than ever which brought him more attention. He slid his pencil across the name of his freshly killed victim, Electra. (I just made up a name) He slid the notebook and pencil back into a pocket in his jacket, and stood up. His next target, a hero named Breeze.

Before Alizeh could stop her Astra was already out of the room. "Wait!-" She called after her but it was useless the little red head was already disappearing behind the elevator doors. Dammit. Alizeh thought to herself as the number above the elevator began to descend. Remembering the documents in her hands Alizeh quickly rushed to the desk to hand them to one of the nurses. As she spun back around she bumped into the doctor who was looking after Astra.

"I see you've signed the paperwork." He stated the obvious.

"Yes, I have. I'll bring her back in a couple weeks." Alizeh said with a sharp nod before quickly walking away, she didn't have time to chat.

Having no faster option Alzieh took the stairs, being careful as to not fall down the last step again. When she reached the lobby she saw Astra fall out of her wheelchair but simultaneously Alzieh collided with a nurse which caused paperwork to fly everywhere. After quickly helping the young nurse pick up the pages Astra had disappeared again. Alizeh ran out into the street looking right and left. There was no sign on the young girl. Alizeh sighed in frustration as she ran her fingers through her hair. Where had Astra gone?

@Echo Dreamsong

Corrin was now just sitting on a bench with a cup of coffee clasped in her hands. She was slightly surprised that her favorite coffee place was still open at this time, but didn't really question it. She was too busy drinking coffee. Corrin slumped down into the bench, and with a sigh, reluctantly answered her ringing phone. "Hi mo-" she was interrupted by her mother's whiny, and beyond upset voice. Why was she hysterical? Corrin had forgotten to do her laundry. The angel didn't want to deal with this, so halfway through her rant about how much of an ungrateful daughter Corrin was, she hung up, slidding her phone back into her pocket.

Astra wheeled herself into the misty park, looking around. She had of course been here before, but no kid with common sense would be here at night. Well, Astra figured that she could do anything. Even some bandits would leave a kid in a wheelchair alone. Besides, the trees where amazing under the stars and the mist gave it an odd feeling of peace. Slowly she backed against a tree to watch. Even leaned down a bit to pick flowers, something she had never been able to do. That was when Astra toppled out of the chair with a sharp yelp. Somehow (Even I don't know) the belt had come undone and the chair practically bucked her. And of course proceeded to roll down the hill and into the lake. Brilliant. So Astra was stranded at the top of a hill with a very bad feeling about what would happen next.

@I'm too lazy.

Wulf tracked down on one of the assailants from city hall to central park. It watched as its target wheel chair go into the lake. "Targets chance of escape from unit. Less then 1%. Scent of current target 64%. Initializing prime directive. Capture and question target under any circumstances. Letahal force approved. Chance of failure impossible." Wulf then jumped out of his hiding spot and walked towards his target who was on the ground.

@Echo Dreamsong

Astra stared wide eyed at Wulf, attempting to pull herself backwards with her twig like arms. "M-mommy" She whimpered before using her good leg to help propel her backward. Adrenaline pumped through her veins and she reached for where her knife would normally be. The only problem? The hospital had confiscated it. Astra trembled and grabbed a small stick as a feeble means of protection. "Mommy!" She cried louder this time.

@Carnation

Wulf watched as the girl grabbed a stick. "Weapon use probability. Ineffective." Wulf continued his advancement and used his tail like a manipulator arm and extended to grab the other end of the stick and yanked it out of the girls hand. "Resistance is futile. Surrender at once. *Wulf's tail breaks the stick into thirds and throws what remained to the side. Wulf's tail then made a set of grabbing motions to Astraea acting like a boa constrictor before striking and wrapping around its prey.*"

Alizeh had taken a gamble at which direction to go and began to run as fast as her legs would carry her. It wasn't safe in this city for anyone right now, let alone for younger people. She couldn't have got too far.. Alizeh thought as she turned the first corner. She came to an abrupt stop as she saw wheel marks on the grass towards the park. Without hesitation she sprinted to the park following the tracks hoping it lead to Astra. It had got dark causing a sense of panic in Alizeh, she hadn't known the young girl long but she felt responsible for her. After hearing a familiar cry of "Mommy!" Alizeh sprinted forward with a burst of energy. Finally she could see Astra but a robotic like dog had trapped her. "Get away from her!" Alizeh screamed before sending a large gust of wind towards the robot.

@Carnation

Astra shrunk back further before giving up and just rolling down the hill. Into the lake. Which would have been fine, but the idiot couldn't swim. And the water was taller than her, not to mention the cast was heavy and dragged her down.

Of course it was then that she heard her Mom. Well, too late now. She flailed her arms around like a duck trying to fly, really not sure how to try and swim. Luckily, I was nice and let a branch hang down over her head. With one last splash she reached up and grabbed the slippery wood. The first attempt she nearly slipped, but still Astra clung to the branch.

@NightSky

Wulf turned his head "Strange anomaly detected in air current." Suddenly Wulf was pushed back. He went about a few inches before extending his claws and sinking them into the ground keeping him in place. He then looked up to see the face of his attacker. "Scent recognized and identifies as Primary target 2... locked. Scent of current target. Lower than average. 22%. Warning unknown factors at play. Result. Continue with extreme caution while following prime directives."

@NightSky @Echo Dreamsong

Alizeh watched the robotic wolf in front of her in confusion. She hadn't seen something like this in person before. "Primary target 2?" She repeated with a raised eyebrow. A splash of water caused Alizeh turn her head to see Astra. She raised her hand to gently lift her out of the lake and on the ground next to the lake before turning back to the robot. "What do you want with us?" She asked knowing it was probably useless and wouldn't change its motives.

@Echo Dreamsong @Carnation

Astra coughed up some water before curling into a ball. Her leg felt like it was on fire, so did her arms. Which they actually were. Not good for grass growth. Or tree growth when that caught too. However she did manage to shoot a ball of flames at Wulf. That cheered her up until she realized she was still on fire.

(Sorry, writer's block)

"It isn't obvious to you human. I'm here for you because of what you've done. I do what I'm program to do, and I will bring you in." Wulf was not prepared for the fire ball which was sent flying at him. As the fire ball made contact with his metallic body it sent Wulf flying back into a nearby tree *(Barks in Pain)*making it break in half and crashing down on him. The base of the tree was on fire and it spread to where Wulf was buried. It seemed to be over but then. *BRRRRR!!!!!!BR!BR!BRRRR!!!!!* Wulf unleashes his chainsaw which is held by his tail and begins to cut through the thick bark like nothing. Once freed Wulf's red visor glowed and Wulf surfaced and stepped on the burning wood,"Minor injuries sustained. Battery level 80%. Changing tactics." Wulf lifted his head up. "HHHOOOWWWLLLLL!" Soon that one howl was followed by another, and another.
