Jealousy.

"The beach, the market..." rumbled the knight's voice, helmeted head tilting slightly sideways, gaze affixing itself on Prince Hayato, seizing up the flesh-relative of Princess Yuki. Battle-marked, exposed tissue speaking the tales of swords, axes and arrows leaving their traces, size and training making for a visible perpetrator of violence, though the face remained mostly without blemish. As usual, nobles could afford proper cavalry, keeping them safe from the very worst of wounds, and thus capable of granting a suitable appearance for courts.

"Hail, Prince Hayato. I am I, Sir Helbrecht, Knight of She Who Is The Lady." he spoke, as usual not bowing even if etiquette would have demanded it "Your sister, Princess Yuki-" the knight began, only to stop as the named Aiko entered the hall, spotted her brother and immediately flung herself at the man with a delighted outcry.

Helbrecht watched the occurrence in silence, gaze locked on the sibling-pair. A strange feeling gnawed its way into his innards. One that made him tired, even though the sight should have been inspiring. So casual, this display of that which he had been searching for for so long.

The desire for purity rose.

Tearing his gaze away, he looked over to Nelly "Lady Lin, I wish to accompany you to the beach. Would you allow my escort?"

August was done with the job that brought him to Saint Lyon. He now had all the time in the world to explore one of the few cities he scarcely visited."First things first" he said while taking out a small bag and looking through it. "The head of that caravan I helped out told me the money I was given is enough to pay for a hotel room for a few nights" August muttered to himself while counting the coins inside the bag."Oh!" he exclaimed as he started to dig around in the supply bag he carried around with him,"found it!" he quietly shouted as he pulled out an invitation he had received from a guard as he entered the city. Quickly skimming through it just to make sure of what was written, he flashed a small smile saying "well at least it gives me an excuse to pick up a new skill, and it helps me get into the main event with out being hired into it" he laughed at this possibility, he had come here to find work not have fun, though he didn't mind this it was an easier way to talk with people that might have reason to hire him.

"All right' time to kill some time before the big event" August said to himself whilst walking over to a nearby bench to think about where to go for the next few hours, seeing how he had all the time in the world right now to do so...

The merchant was kind, there was no doubt about that. They had been friends for at least a decade now, and the merchant knew Buras had a nose for some things. And one night later, he was up early in the morning sipping tea as he politely conversed with the man. But soon enough he had to excuse himself, "I do have to make an appearance at least." he said with a smile to take any bite and possible insult from his words. He was talking about one of the most important events in this Kingdom if not the world. Plus, he had some royalty to meet. Nobles were good and all, but actual royalty was something else entirely. They took more time with politics and the economy then the nobles. And, frankly, they knew more.

So, off he went to attend the first breakfast of this celebration. His entrance wasn't as grand as you might expect someone who was late to the party might make it. He simply showed the guards his invitation, explained his situation, and entered. He even had to turn his head slightly so his antlers could fit through the door, so he wouldn't be noticed. Could you imagine it, him getting his antlers stuck in a doorway, how embarrassing.

Nelly Lin

It was uplifting to observe the scene that played out in front of her eyes, it did not take much for the girl to muster a softened smile at the sudden embrace. She was overjoyed for the reunited siblings, it was also from personal experience which made the event all the more joyous. The bliss of having the cavity planted from the absence of a dear one being filled once again overcame her.

There's something far away, happy, in her eye, a ghost of a smile on her lips with the sip of her sweet smelling tea which she had gone to retrieve earlier on. Such outward displays of adoration were uncalled for back home, perhaps it's ordinary to witness in the Greedo Kingdom she thinks. Aside from realizing this, The Witch had also noticed the Princess was considerably energetic than the other day and she was glad for her. Thus, under the current happy circumstances of this morning, Nelly's day was ascertained to be a golden one.

An undisguised look of raw interest washes her features as Helbrecht regards her,
"I -- well, of course I'd be delighted for you to accompany me! I don't see why you had to ask my permission." there's a hearty chuckle and then a pause as she considers things before looking the Knight up and down "--Though, I shan't be stopping every few minutes to wait for you to empty whatever sand might seep through cracks in your armor, I can't imagine how you'd fare in such an environment," now, Nelly was aware it sounded terribly motherly of her but she only mentioned it in friendly spirit.

As much as she has thought about it the brown-haired girl couldn't seem to settle on an activity to do on Rumba Beach besides swimming and fishing, both she wasn't keen on spending the entirety of this day doing. Whilst sipping small from her cup she consults him.

"It's been a long while since I've been down to the seaside, I gather it'll be a proper place to unwind with a magazine or two."

"Do you think there'll be shops there?" Nelly was eager to spend a sum on pretty trinkets, something memorable of her trip. "What sorts of things do you fancy doing once we reach there?" an then an idea tickles her sides and the wolf-girl does everything in her ability to keep from gasping with joy.

"Suppose we could hire a boat! It'll be the first time I've
ever been on one!"

This wasn't much like the girl to become so enthusiastic over an excursion to someplace special, but the Beach was a whole new subject altogether.

How silly she was to get herself in such a tangle of childish eagerness. She could feel the heat in her cheeks, inspired by the embarrassment but branded by the consequences of having her mask off for longer than she had expected. Thank goodness for the man, who now enters the hall. A man with pointed antlers atop his head.

The relief of seeing one of her own kind here; at the Cendrillion Ball, was tremendous. Here, was someone she could relate to, oh and his antlers. Even more so obvious than her ears, Nelly was overjoyed.

"Well I'll be damned," the last word comes out quieter than the rest as she mutters meekly to herself, the wolf-girl wasn't so special anymore was she. Now that there were two Witches at St. Lyons. "Tell me I'm not dreaming," the statement is mostly directed at him as Nelly sets her teacup very carefully and purposefully into its saucer and then aside.

"Hello."

Day 2 | Joyful Reunion & Planning for the Day

Naomi, princess of Marine kingdom conducted herself carefully, Hayato noticed. But he had expected as much out of the royalty in the castle. Yet that didn't stop the unease and equal awareness that the formalities gave him. Her nodded to Lin and to the knightly figure hailing from Lepumir and took a seat, nibbling on his food whilst listening to the conversation.

Since there were no duties to be done for the day, the ladies discussed places to go. Lin and Naomi rambled about the beach for a moment, but Naomi seemed intent on exploring the market which seemed dandy to Hayato but he would wait until he confirmed where his sister was going. He preferred to check in with her, at least just to make sure she was feeling alright. Which at that moment, speak of the devilish girl herself, Aiko entered the dining hall looking absolutely adorable. Hayato stood abruptly and turned to her with a fond smile, catching her around the waist as she threw herself at him. "Hello, sister. You seem to be doing just fine, I suppose I shouldn't have worried. My company here was just saying you were behaving in a lovely fashion last night." He patted her head, unable to stop his brotherly habits even at court. He released her and gestured to the buffet. "Perhaps grab a bite to eat, and we can talk about activities to do today if you like and I can apologize throughly for not being able to be here as well." He resumed sitting and turned his smile to Naomi, Lin, and Helbrecht who had just inquired of Lin to go to the beach. "Pardon me for any interruption there. I see the two of you are going to the beach then. Lady Naomi, are you set on the market? Surely, the beach would be more fun. Fresh air would do well for the spirits. "

Naomi Marie ThalassaPrincess of the Marine Kingdom
merli_artisite_carnelian.png
Naomi smiled with delight as Yuki swung around her brother- it made her a little homesick, for certain. Her brother's we never as affectionate as Hayato seemed, yet she had a few playmates in the Arie district back in her hometown who treated her like a sister. It was wonderful to see the delicate Greedian princess smiling so brightly- the girl seemed to have blossomed a little overnight. It would do her well to be around her brother, it seemed. "Good morning, Yuki- I'm glad you have found your brother." Which again raised the question: If Yuki had not seen her brother, how had Hayato recognized her?

She couldn't help but be relieved as Helbrecht and Nelly settled on going to the beach together- the knight would be a good escort for the witch- she wondered what might befall her friend alone. "Perhaps I shall see you -" Of course, then something very curious happened- another Witch entered the room- a male, with flaming red hair and elegant antlers. Seemed Nelly's kind were more common on the mainland than Naomi has thought. Her home island of Marinous had not known many witches- there were a few scattered across the island, but two in one city was an exceedingly rare occurence. Naomi decided not to approach this one- she ought not seem to curious. Besides, the chance for her to ask Nelly her question seemed further and further away.

And her backup dance partner, that Alexander fellow, was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh, yes, Hayato- I am quite set on the market today- I've spent the past week at sea, and much as I love the ocean, I long for the hustle and bustle of a busy market. If you will excuse me, I will leave you to the company of your darling sister." With a nod of her head, she turned away, carrying her plate to find a seat.

She spotted Asuran, and slid into the seat across from him. "I hope you do not mind if I join you? How was your night last night- there were no further mishaps, I hope? If so, I might have to envy you the excitement." She laughed, peeling apart the wedges of a grapefruit.

"I could ask you the same, but let me check myself real quick." Buras said, a concerned look on his face. Reaching a hand up, he grabs one of his antlers and gives it a firm tug. "Nope. If I were dreaming, that wouldn't have hurt. And if you were dreaming, then it might have come off completely." As he did this, he made his way over to the other witch, and a wide smile spread across his face. It wasn't often that two were seen in the same place outside of the forests of their home.

"I hope I'm not ruining anything by being here." he continued once he reached her, searching for a place to sit so his antlers wouldn't bother anyone. Normally it was just him and another person, so he simply had to sit on the opposite side. From there he could slide over until his antlers were almost in the way. For some reason most people didn't like someone sitting directly across from someone else. Well, not like was a bit to powerful. They saw you more as an opponent then a friend. Yes, that was a more fitting way to put it.

"You know, I wasn't even supposed to be here. But a good friend of mine, you really should meet her I can give you directions, was invited and couldn't make it. So instead of insulting the king and letting an invitation go to wast, she gave it to me. Oh, and if you do go, as her cooks for some pecan pie. It's truly the best I have ever tasted."

Already he was socializing and trying to get everyone to like him. Typical, he was of the Charm after all. It was his schools duty to make sure people liked them. "Sadly, as you might have noticed, I did miss the first night. Could any of you give me a quick run down of what happened? All I know was that as soon as I got there the guards turned me around and told me to return to my inn. Had to get a merchant friend of mine to let me stay the night. Not my most shining moment."

Asuran Dorix

As Asuran sat there the eating hall was suddenly filled with action. There was a new arrival who was immediately recognizable as a member of the royal line of Greedo from the crest that adorned his clothes. From that fact Asuran made the -rather tentative- assumption that it was likely Aiko's brother who, from he remembered, was supposed to have arrived yesterday. It was odd to Asuran that he had somehow missed the first day of celebration, while his sister was already there, but for the moment it did not matter as he tried to keep up with what everyone was doing. Even before the Viscount could get a word of greeting to him Aiko had also arrived into the room, and threw herself into an embrace with her brother. Such a display of affection was surprising to him; he had never had any siblings, and siblings whom he knew tended to bicker and fight constantly, even if they had good intentions in the end. Asuran would never had expected such a thing, although at this point in the celebrations he knew that he should have expected just about everything odd to him that could happen,
would happen.

The sound of the door opening once more brought his attention to the final arrival -at least for the moment- to breakfast. To Asuran's great surprise, it was
another Witch who sported a pair of large antlers, signaling that he shared the characteristics of a deer or moose of some kind. One Witch in a place was rare, but two was nothing short of an anomaly, especially in such tense inter-racial times where many arie would be less likely to partake in such public events. Why he was here was an unknown, but he must have had some reason for his invitation or he would've never gotten in.

With all this commotion, Asuran had missed whatever chance he may have had to greet the new arrivals as they already began to get involved in conversation with the other delegates. Upon noticing this, he made sure to file away a mental note to greet both the Greedo man and the Witch and get an idea for where they stood: being left in the dark would do no good for what he was attempting to do.

Without warning, and before the Viscount could collect his thoughts, the Princess of the Marine Kingdom had appeared in front of him. She spoke immediately, asking about his experiences the night before after everyone had parted ways. Shaking himself from his thoughts, he said,
"Ah, yes, Miss Naomi. My night was rather mundane, which was quite the blessing after all the excitement, I'd say." Realizing that he had probably been staring off into space for most of the breakfast, he continued, "Apologies for my absence of mind this morning. I'm waiting for the new arrival from the end of yesterday to appear. I offered to converse with him at breakfast and it would be rude of me to ignore my own invitation, but it seems I was rather silly in my actions; I did not even get his name or position so there is no way I can find him."

With a sigh, Asuran scanned the room once more. The continued lack of appearance of the man was rather odd, especially as time went on, so it seemed he very well may not have been a representative at all.
"I don't suppose that you may know who he was? Rather short, arrived with Prince Kiefer of Nezzie?" He asked hopefully, although he knew it was unlikely. Any information would be good information at this point, considering his own failure to get any.

Remembering what Naomi had said earlier that morning, however, Asuran quickly realized that her plans lined up with his nicely.
"I couldn't help but hear that you planned to visit the markets this morning, Naomi. I was planning on going as well, so would you mind if I accompanied you?"

Motion is all.

"Stopping will not be necessary, Lady Lin. A knight always stands ready to do battle, in any climate, any terrain." the knight rumbled "As for activities, I aim to conduct a personal ritual of mine, for the purpose of purification. I have only been to the coast twice before myself and it was not in peace, enjoying a boat-ride might be... feasible."

Nelly's visible enthusiasm was not lost on him. Rather, her carefree stance and simple desire for leisure had something infectious about it, enough so that he considered delaying the ritual if it threatened to get in the way of her pursuit for luxuries. It remained to be seen.

For a time, Helbrecht merely observed the further conversations in silent standing, obviousely unwilling to take a seat and enjoy the meal with light banter. The new arrival, Witch Buras Stranda, a fascinating specimen of what appeared to be a very selective breeding method, was busying himself with another round of formalities. Perhaps he should acquire a sample for further study.

He was not in the state of mind for this. He longed. Resolutely, the knight's voice intoned to the ears of the seated "Lady Lin, I request we begin our journey. Sir Stranda is welcome to accompany us if that is to your liking, but I have no desire to linger here for now."

Emphasizing his point, the knight positioned himself at the entrance, looking expectantly towards Stranda and Lin.

Kiefer Arlie Avescamp

The night couldn't pass quickly enough. Although it had been a day riddled with cycles of progress and defeat, it was the burning image of Princess Evalyn and endlessly winding thoughts wrapped around her reason for returning to the Courtyard which swept the prince into his dreams.

Such a trance he had been in while returning to his quarters that he had brushed Vladimir, waiting for him at the door, bruskly aside. He had no time for the bumbling servant and any possible meeting or excuse could certainly wait. No, the prince wanted to hurry to bed so that he might hurry again towards wakening.

As thus he found his eyes opening alongside the rising sun. It was early, he knew, much too early for anyone to be about, much less the princess. But what a perfect metaphor for their reunion---! To be framed by the slowly blossoming sun as shadow and light would fuse into a single spectacle for the rest of their lives. For a moment he was content to sit on the bed, his mind utterly controlled by the rapture of possibilities.

And then his eyes found their way to the notebook, lying precariously on the marble table's edge.

Strange, the leather cover had never appeared so
heavy before. And yet, to gaze upon it just then, its corner surrounded by nothing but air and seemings crying out for gravities intervention, the slight booklet carried with it all the heft of a weighty tome.

Still, there's no reason to hold back. After all, the plan hinges on my success in gaining the princess's favor.

As far as the prince was concerned, however, he had already won in that regard. Princess Evalyn and he had shared a special moment in the Courtyard, sheltered by the silver wings of moonlight that had embraced their private duet. And then, shy thing she was, not used to the coldness of night, she had taken off. Only to later regret her brash decision and return.

Nezzie's heir could hardly suppress the thin smile leaking across his face as he began to get dressed. As far as his knowledge extended, the day was a free one for the representatives since there was nothing scheduled for the Ball. Which meant that, as he had told the nosy viscount the night prior, he would be spending his time with the princess.

And that started with a morning meeting.

Having risen so early, he took his time putting together a suitable outfit, rather relishing in the lace-coated fabrics as he pulled them onto his tanned frame. As dark navy cloth covered ragged traces of scars the prince felt a slight relief, as one might when kicking something dirty under a rug. With every layer that bundled the prince, obscuring the unsightly traces, he only felt more secure and satisfied. And indeed there were many layers, for Kiefer's clothing had a ceremonial flair, even in its more casual flourishes. Such was Nezzie; although a militant kingdom, they were also Lepumir's twin and had taken a note from their brother's book in constructing lavish fashions often polished with many layers, ruffles, laces, embroidery, and others pointless decorations.

Pointless, yet beautiful.

And was that not noble in itself?

Outfitted like a child's doll the prince couldn't be happier, and his sharp eyes were caught upon his image in the mirror. Yes, a true and proper prince. The only son of Nezzie's King. The young man solely destined to complete the noble quest that had been his kingdom's aim for centuries.

The soon-to-be warrior king.

But, as the night before when he had admired his reflection, there was something askew about the mirage. A tell-tale sign of the deceit. Two small portals where darkness still crept through.

Pacing back to the nightside table, Kiefer gingerly took up his glasses, fixing them properly onto his face so that the instruments' delicate patterns that could only have been crafted by the tiny, careful digits of deft arien paws wove together pleasantly against wisps of light purple hair and a blemishless face.

Perfection had been achieved at last.

A strange smile still hovering on his lips, the prince finally exited, walking confidently to where the princess's own quarters lay.

And then he waited.

He would wait as long as it took to be the first one to greet her Highness. He would be the first of the nine representatives to lay eyes upon her dawn form, fresh and pure and untouched by sight like a flower shaking off evening's dew at the call of the sun.

But the princess did not come.

Kiefer began to grow impatient, pacing in front of the door. He noted several other representatives walk past him, though none seemed to take notice of their peer nor offer up a greeting. The prince wondered if it was from distaste or a mere lack of noticing.

Both possibilities were cause for offense. But neither mattered if only he could be healed by Princess Evalyn's morning glow.

And still, he waited.

Breakfast, he was sure, would be in full swing. Perhaps the princess was an earlier riser than he knew, and had somehow beaten him there.

So then, would it be wisest to leave his post?

A few more minutes of restlessness and the prince's pacing feet began to lead him from their circular track in front of the princess's chambers and towards Waltz Castle proper. It was only on the path that Kiefer recalled that the princess did had quarters in the main building; though she hardly used them, it was always possible that she might be there.

So breakfast it was.

Entering the Dining Hall once more, the prince already found himself tired of it. Not needing to particularly impress, it seemed as if Euthalia's morning budget was much beneath their nighttime's, and all the decorations that had made the simple stone room a glittering jewel box of magical delights had been reduced to their humbler rocky origins.

A pool of familiar faces had once more gathered. Kiefer's eyes passed over them quickly in distaste, until he saw a sight that once more drew his gaze like metal before a magnet.

It was...an unfamiliar presence. One of the representatives who had been absent at the Opening Banquet.

Ah...that insignia, it must be Greedo's prince.

Feeling slight relief that it wasn't the still absent Ramerian heir, he was about to get back to the much more pressing task of finding the princess when a rush of pale-colored skirts and flying silvery hair launched itself at Greedo, distracting Kiefer.

It was...Greedo's princess. Her name had already slipped his mind, but her words remained burned there.

Weak, frail, and hidden from birth...

Like a mantra they repeated over and over as his eyes flickered over the interlocking limbs of brother and sister, blood with blood like the roots of a tree sprouting from the center of the great hall.

Their smiling faces. The way elder brother so tenderly embraced younger sibling, the unmistakable sheen of pride and admiration in his eyes.

And both of them shining with an inner light. The joy at having been reunited.

I'm disappointed, Greedo. You lied. You don't know what it's like to be hidden at all...

Overcome by a strange, swirling feeling, the prince continued to hover at the doorway. The warm crimson that signaled the only human he cared to lay eyes on remained absent, and the cold stones were becoming suddenly oppressive, like the harsh cliff faces that Lundgren had been stubbornly carved from.

Suddenly Kiefer wanted nothing better than to leave. To escape.

To slink back into the shadows where he belonged.

As if a sharp reminder as to his true purpose, a strange figure with fiery hair then strode past the shrinking prince. But the licking flames didn't belong to the luscious curls of Princess Evalyn, but rather an antler-adorned head whom the prince had never before seen.

Another stranger.

A Witch.

Kiefer stared in mild interest as the Witch casually made his way into the Dining Hall. It made him recall the wolfish woman from the Banquet, the Witch who was seemingly friends with that insufferable 'knight.'

And there she was again. With the newcomer going almost immediately to talk to her. Friends, perhaps? Witches tended to live within small, tribal communities, so it wouldn't be farfetched to think the two had come together. They may be even lovers.

But two unknown Witches were twice the danger.

Now in the full throes of curiosity, the prince made his own way to where the couple was gathered, politely cutting in with his small, unassuming voice as he situated himself near the antlered Witch.

"
You didn't miss much, I'm afraid. A thief infiltrated the party, causing everyone to scatter while the night was yet young. We didn't even get a chance to see Princess Evalyn dance."

He showed a quiet smile to anyone who cared for it. Of course, keeping an eye upon the princess was his first priority, but as she had yet to appear at breakfast, perhaps she was still caught in whatever lovesick swoon had taken hold of her in the Courtyard. He wouldn't want to pressure her by once more being too forceful. So if she appeared, then he would follow. But for the moment...

Mother would want me to check on these Witches, after all. I have to see what they know.

Naomi Marie ThalassaPrincess of the Marine Kingdom
merli_artisite_carnelian.png
Naomi bit her lower lip, wondering if she recalled anyone like the person Asuran was describing. "I'm afraid I can't claim to- In all honesty, I knew little to nothing of any of you before last night. Logic dictates he would be from.. Galleria, the Sea Republic or... was it Ramenia? Since we have met all the other delegates- But there is Prince Kiefer now- perhaps you might ask him? " She pointed at the corner where Kiefer was lurking with the orb of green melon on her fork. "Or.. perhaps not- seems he's a bit occupied with Nelly and her new friend."

She popped the melon ball into her mouth as he then addressed her. "Oh yes- I had planned on going there- the markets on Marinous are lovely, but I'd love to see what sort of goods are gathered in a city like this." She was a bit surprised he had asked to join her- she had been hoping for a day entirely free of courtliness, but she was slowly realizing such a thing wasn't possible. "I'd be delighted to have your company." She lied, a perfect diplomatic smile on her face.

Then again, it would be good to be seen with him- Good Impressions make Great Connections, her mother had told her. Her fun would have to wait. Then again, perhaps Asuran wouldn't mind her particular brand of fun. "That is, if you won't mind my questions- I'm sure to find a few things strange." She said, trying to maintain light conversation. "Would you be alright with playing tour guide to a princess far from home?" Her eyes had a slight wicked glint to them- he might prove to a be a friend and ally if the day went well.

Nelly Lin

It wasn't until too late that Nelly realized that being seen with her own kind wasn't something beneficial rather an invitation for more ridiculing. The welcoming beam stayed glued to her features but never truly travelling upward toward her brown eyes. The witch expected people to fear her but double the amount of Witches would mean double the amount of fear.

“A friendly conversation couldn't possibly ruin anything, Sir. Buras," the laughter comes easily to Nelly's lips and judging by his next words she guesses that the sharply dressed man is on high terms with esteemed lords and ladies and it heightens the misgivings that shroud the ruby-haired Witch in the seat in front of her.

The wolf-girl isn't accustomed to those as sociable as he, and so her brows furrow and her lips curl in a small, confused smile at the invitation so suddenly sprung upon her. The idea of the girl being requested to meet someone was unsettling.
"By the sounds of it, the pie sounds especially tasty but all that demanding work going into baking it is uncalled for if I could just bake it myself you see," Seeing that the man was of her own kind, her refusal is delivered gently.

"I am sorry to hear of your unfortunate affair last night. Let us meet once again during the course of this month then?"
With that the witch's gaze lifts from the cheerful face and traces a route back to the helmeted face of Helbrecht.

Copper curls bounce on her shoulder as she rotates to face the knight.
. "I would very much dislike it if a battle happened to break out during our outing. I'll keep that in mind, it'll make me feel much safer." Nelly hums a note of satisfaction before peeking sidelong at Buras Stranda, feeling a tinge of guilt for having 'abandoning' their short exchange. Just in time at that, as she spots the purple prince from yesterday. She had noticed that he was constantly observing, the youth was certain she could feel those eyes boring into her from a distance away. The ears atop her head flatten in an attempt to shake the gnawing feeling off of her body. Had anyone felt the same way?

Nelly, having no love for solemnity and sharpened tongue and confrontations with royals any longer let's her feet lead her toward the awaiting Knight.

She clears her throat as they start out of the Hall "I don't expect you know the way do you?"

"But of course." Buras said, taking the hint. "But I'd much rather be called Buras." Formalities, while nice, often kept people distanced from one another. Simply dropping one word could get them a bit closer to each other, simple as that. "Strandas will work as well, I honestly don't mind." But most people do love their formalities. Especially in this setting.

But what he had come for caught his attention. Royalty. Kiefer to be exact, the prince of Nezzie. Not exactly his favorite kingdom to be in, but it certainly wasn't alone in that regard. Standing up, he says to the prince "Why thank you for filling me in. Forgive me for not bowing, I doubt you would like being prodded by these things." Gesturing to his antlers with one hand, he then extends it out in front of him. "I do hope this will do. Now please, have a seat, I doubt either of us like standing for to long. Biscuit?" He didn't take a seat right away, that would simply be rude. But he did reach over for a biscuit, and was poised to pluck another from the tray.

Move.

"The way is known. A suitable location had to be chosen for the ritual in foresight, in case... setback was suffered, emotional equilibrium required stabilisation for further pursuit of the Quest." the knight's starry form turned to the entrance, one claw raised to give a single rigid wave as a gesture to follow him.

Retrieving his weaponry, the witch and the knight travelled along the city-road, again in the process of clogging up with the hustle and bustle of the celebrations, crowds of visiting guests, citizens and new-arrivals filling the air with the bartering of vendors and craftsmen. Just like the day before, the crowd would have slowed their journey, though Helbrecht's unapproachable appearance had the beneficial effect of causing few to be inclined to stand in his way, granting Lin and him a path without obstruction.

For some time, the knight held silence, gaze directed as usual where his current goal was located. A thought kept gnawing at his mind, an awareness of the price the ritual demanded. He would have to keep his body's temporary weakness to a minimum if he was to participate in the ball.

"Say, Lady Lin." Helbrecht spoke up, voice cutting through the crowded city's chaos "Would you perchance have a dance for the healing of superficial wounds, such as cuts and punctures in your inventory of magical abilities?"

@Lady Ravenshade

Nelly Lin

"A ritual..?" She blinks owlishly up at the taller man. The Witch was fairly familiar with rituals, the magic sort of course. Established rituals, the ones carried out by ordinary people were bizarre to the girl who traced no paths before her, who scribbled winding lines across pages from the book of her life and then proceeded to tear them apart and stick them back together in no particular order. It's a whirlwind of a life she lives and no ritual could ever retain the order that was non-existent from the very beginning.

Helbrecht and Nelly break away from the bunched up flock of clients and traders, smelling of warmth and life. Away they head and away they go.

The pavement is rocky, underfoot, with clumps of dewy grass sprouting from crevices in the stone.

Pebbles scrape against the scuffed leather of the girl's walking boots as somewhere on the horizon, a beach waits. Calmly, sleeping. Of little importance to the rapidly growing stalks of green that crunch and spring under bare feet.

Sounds of the tumbling waves make themselves known to the ears of the oblivious wanderers as they awaken.

A smile warms on the brunette's lips.
"I've plenty in my inventory, it has been long since I've rifled through it though," The wolf-girl's pale hand raises to protect her eyes from the streams of sunlight as they slowly, surely approach the golden sands of Rumba Beach.

The twisty cobbled path wends its way close enough beside them to hear the rattle of carriages and thumping thrum of horseshoes. There's nowhere Nelly need to be, today, nothing to call her home. Her beetle-brilliant gown drags across the now plush grass as the filtered green of the wide leaves overhead shield them from the blinding white of the sun.

Dark eyes flicker upward to the helmeted face.
"If it's a restorative spell you're searching for, you should take time into consideration. It's magic all on it's own you know?" A collection of berries had begun to gather in her hand, purple and red stains growing against her fingertips for every berry that pops into her mouth. "-But if you insist, I could try," comes the meek retort and shrug.

Her hand of berries reaches over in offering.
"I can hardly imagine how it'll be accomplished with you under all those iron plates." she grumbles in speculation.

"Do try the red ones, rather tart." Nelly remarks, with her head down as she steps over a root scrambling across their makeshift path.

Asuran Dorix

Naomi's reply was slightly bothersome, but not at all surprising. After all, if he didn't know who the man had been, why would anyone else? "Ah, don't worry about it," he said, giving a dismissing hand wave as spoke. "I'm sure he will show up, although I do appreciate your ideas, it gives me something to start with." It was true what she said afterwards, that he could ask Kiefer but the thought of having to ask that pompous idiot was outside of what he was willing to do, today or ever.

At her acceptance of his company, he gave a minor smile. Asuran didn't know much of her, but if he could get connections with the Marine Kingdom before any of the other representatives he would have an obvious edge. Whatever materials and resources that they had gathered there would be great for increasing trade across the continent, not to mention the strategic advantage of having an island ally's naval forces or army for assistance.

At her askance for him to act as a tour guide, he gave out a little chuckle. "I can't say that I know much more of the city than you, as I'm not an often visitor to Euthalia myself, but I would be happy to try. And any questions would be welcome; I've no doubt that with the Marine Kingdom's separation the traditions of the mainland may be very odd."

Looking around, he didn't see anything else obvious that he had forgotten, so he turned back to Naomi, saying, "Shall we go, then? Are you aware of anyone else who is looking to come, or will it just be us?" As he said this, he fervently hoped that Kiefer wouldn't want to. Right now, he really didn't want to deal with him.

The Princess of Greedo Dining Hall

flame_butterfly_by_guweiz-d9bwa3f.png
Like most occurances when it came to talking, Aiko was slightly left out of the mix. She didn't feel as royal as everyone around her. Even the knight seemed to be a better princess then her. She let go of her brother and smiled at the others as they commented on how pleased they were that she had found her beloved brother who was so perfect and so well suited for this world. Aiko found herself questioning where to go next. She slightly wished to follow Helbrecht since she had grown quite fond of him, but she also did not want to lose sight of her brother.

Lowering her head, Aiko started to feel herself fading into the background.
Perhaps the beach would be nice, she thought as she twiddled her fingers. She had never been to a beach before and it might do her well to be around actual princesses instead of a knight and a thief like last time. She was actually quite shocked anyone had said she held herself quite well since she could recall throwing up in a plant at some point. Maybe I dreamed it? she shook her head as she waited for the others not confident enough to really speak herself which was odd since at home she was a trouble maker.

Day 2 | A Day Trip

He watched Naomi move to sit near another guest and he turned back to his sister. Aiko was quiet which was unusual for her. He wondered what brought about her sudden sullen mood but realized she must have felt left out. He mentally shook himself and smiled up at her. "Where would you like to go today? Lin and Helbrecht are going to the beach. Naomi is going to the market." He repeated, using an informal tone, already becoming more like himself without realizing it.

During this time, Lin and Helbrecht departed along with most of the other part of the crowd. Hayato glanced about thinking to himself that he had better get the day going. He stood and carefully set his plate to the side. Upon turning to Aiko he spoke, "We can catch up to Lin and the manly knight if you like." He teased his sister gently. "Regardless, I think I would like a stroll on the beach as well. To clear my mind of all these politics." He muttered with a smirk.

After a while of waiting August, after looking at a map of the city a member of the caravan that hired him had bestowed upon him, had decided to go to the beach to clear his head a little.

Upon arrival the smell of salt filled his lungs, the cries of gulls echoed through his ears, the ocean stretching for miles into the horizon. It was calm, serene even. Though the ambiance of nature was eventually broken by the sound of footsteps heading towards his location.

Thinking that others had come to clear their heads, August made his way over to where the footsteps where coming from, but before he could even introduce himself, his foot fell into a pit in the sand causing him to trip and go careening towards the ground. Before he hit the ground he finally saw the source of the footsteps he heard, a young woman and a heavily armored knight.

Naomi Marie ThalassaPrincess of the Marine Kingdom

"I have not made arrangements with anyone else, no. I'd be happy to leave presently." She took the final bite of her soft boiled egg, savoring the creamy yolk. She stood, smoothing the pleats of her dress. "Shall we, then?" She stood, taking a moment to await Asuran.Samba SquareA little while later, the two were in Samba Square, and Naomi could not be enjoying herself more. The whole area bustled with an energy that was familiar to her, yet all the good in the stalls seemed entirely foreign to her. The energy was infectious, and she found herself darting from stall to stall, picking out things that intrigued her. "Look at these beads- they're made from paper?? That's wonderful! Oh, what on earth is that statue? Is it supposed to be an animal of some sort? Asuran! Look, look, look!" She grabbed a large fruit she had never seen before, a red one that was kind of like a distorted orb. "Is this an apple? What do they taste like? We don't have any on Marinous!" She paid the stall keeper a small piece of copper for the fruit, taking a crunching bite out of it. "Huh, it's sweet, yeah- but kinda bland. I like the texture though." She looked around the marketplace, taking slow, thoughtful bites of the apple.

"Oh, oh oh! Can I get a huge basket of ol-" She turned back to the fruit stall owner, then stopped. No, she couldn't- Asuran was here, and what she wanted to do would have been a very bad political move. "Ahem. May I have a basket of assorted fruits?" She dolled out the needed coins, and took the fruit politely, taking the final bites of her apple. "Does anything in particular interest you?" She asked her companion, her composure restored.

Olympia Dolloway

The pristine lake seemed to stretch to a point of infinity, a white-washed dock extended out from the shore, slowly being overtaken by the growth of algae. Stillness played across Olympia's lips like a pleasant tune, caressing her stiff muscles. Here, the grass bent only under the weight of footsteps and the surface of the water was an unbreakable mirror.

The women advanced towards the well-groomed man standing at the shore of the lake. A phantom smile perking up the corners of her lips.

“I take that you're in a good mood today.”
remarked the man with a slight tilt of his head. As per usual he had managed to decipher his student's complex character with nothing but a glance. Avery Dellafontane stood quite a head taller then Olympia, and though it was a warm day he wore a crisp tailcoat and ankle length trousers. Last night they had parted ways with a brief goodnight and had arranged to meet at Waltz Lake in the morn.

The bond between teacher and student had bloomed like a seed, emerging from when they'd first met fifteen years earlier. He was first to crack the young girl's defensive exterior, finding that dance was the only way she truly knew how to speak. The task in which many people struggled at he did with ease, reading her like an open book. In the vastness of the world he guided her, forming a friendship on the basis of mutual respect and trust.

“Care to join me for a row?” questioned the women. The day was still young and with barely a ripple in the water, the conditions were exceptional for a boat ride.

Is the flesh willing?

The knight's open claw received the berries, a starry gaze directed at the gift as the knight halted for a moment. Once again, the moment Nelly averted her gaze even for a blink, the entirety of the fruits was gone, only a small strip of red juice remaining on the hand.

"A knight-" began Helbrecht, voice slow and accompanied by a series of snapping sounds ripping into soft matter emanating from the helmet "-must strive to fulfill any challenge. Any less would embarrass a knight's Lady."

Soon enough, the natural path gave way to loose sand, the city-air turning to a light brine accompanied by the gentle splashing of waves. The beach, stretching to the horizon to give an idyllic atmosphere, was rife with other visitors playing in the waves or leaning back in leisure upon chairs and cloths on the sun-bathed sand.

Helbrecht halted in his march, looking over the spectacle. He had seen it once already on his scouting-mission, though that had been at night. Now it was far more lively, arie and humans alike enjoying the calm waters.

"I have been told once that the ocean is the origin of life." the knight spoke as he beheld the endless matter flowing to the very edge of his vision "All this knight sees is fluid, salt-filled and unfit for consumption without proper filtering. A veil that hides a darkness thicker and livelier than the night."

Further the knight's iron gaze wandered. Far to the side, some ways further down the beach away from the pleasure-seekers, a small formation of rocks akin to miniature cliffs pierced the waters. There was a cave he had found and subsequently outfitted with the means for the purification.

"Perhaps..." he began, before the sound of a body hitting upon sand lowered his view upon a man of smallish stature, ramshackle clothing consisting of hardened leather and metal-pieces giving the tell-tale signs of a mercenary, or wanderer of combat-capable profession.

Currently he was position face-down in front of the witch and the knight.

For a moment, Helbrecht remained simply silent, staring down at the prone man. Then he slowly walked forward, an armored hand extending to reach down, grasp the individual by the shoulders and gently positioned him back on his feet.

"Hail." the knight greeted "Sir Helbrecht, Knight of the Lady am I, along with the honored witch, Lady Nelly Lin. Are you injured? Ask for service and it shall be granted."

August was in awe. The knight before him was more of a titan than a man, no more like a living wall of iron that had no compromises in its defense. Snapping out of his daze August, simply shaking the sand off of him said "I'm alright I've had worse scrapes than this." "Oh but where are my manners" he said while casting a small smile "My name is August Razel, mercenary extrodinare!" he exclaimed loudly while bowing in a respectful manner. "It is an honor to meet you Sir Helbrecht and miss Lin." He said while reverting back into an upright position.

Now that introductions where out of the way August's attention shifted from the the towering knight to the witch at his side. Why was a resident from Lepmir here in Euthalia? Was it something to with the rebellion? No that made no sense their targets where humans,a truth that August was painfully aware of.

Then it hit him maybe they would know the answer to a question that had been bothering him for while. "Hey do you happen to know why I was given this?" He pulled out his invitation and showed it to them. "I mean, why would a random joe with no class like me be asked to participate in this event?" He asked almost to himself, smiling and awaiting their response.

Nelly Lin

The roughness of the walk and the way the fabric of her dress insisted on sticking clammily between her shoulder blades had only slightly dampened the girl's enthusiasm, as she grinned under the shade of her hand and peered through narrowed eyes up at Helbrecht.

"Surely your lady must be compassionate toward you, whatever the situation. However it turns out in the end." The wolf-eared girl allows a splatter of disbelief to color her voice. "Not become embarrased!" she scoffs as the odd companions continue to trek through the uneven jungle path. Already the air was bright with birdsong and the smell of trees and salt all enter-wined.

Nelly could not still the gasp that escaped as they step onto the beach and into the full brunt of the bright spotlight of sun unhindered by the protection of the jungle. She instinctively shields her face from the glaring blast, peeking out from the sleeve at the golden white stretching out ahead of them until turquoise kisses the shore.

A tiny breeze whispers across her skin as she turns her head towards wherever it may have sourced. Yet the water ripples, and the Witch's hair stirs briefly in the touch of wind. Her first steps into the sand are unsteady, even the low heels of her shoes unfit for such terrain.

Each sinking step bringing them closer to the hushed swell of the waves and then the knight stops in his stride.

With every inch of skin covered, Nelly's hand edged to slightly above her collar bone to tug a bit at the high neck of her gown that had begun to stick to her neck in the uncommon heat compared to the weather in Lepumir. Even so, she was determined to keep moving despite the swelter.

"Come now Helbrecht." Her disapproval is evident as the dark-haired youth lets her slim, spidery hands fall and press to her hip. "All this gloomy talk of yours isn't fit for a day such as this, now, we wouldn't be here if it weren't for the ocean would we! Tell me you don't feel only a little bit thankful." She presses the knight.

He is, at least in the lady's eyes someone who has lost a great deal of hope in all the good in their world. She was determined to help him keep what little was left.

Fingers flutter with thrumming energy as they wave the past statement away.
"Anyways! Even if you don't, you can't help but marvel at such a beautiful sight."

With her gaze cast at the sunlit sea the wolf-girl does not catch sight of the man, ahead of them, as he trips and fall into a heap of unkempt hair and creased threads. Her tiredness and apprehension both forgotten in sudden concern for the gentleman. Only to be dismissed when he rises once again. Her mouth quirks in a wry smile in return to his as the dizzied man gapes up at her larger companion before regaining his footing and then introducing himself in a comfortably nonchalant way.

She keeps from arching her brow at the mention of his occupation and instead settles on offering a greeting in return. "As it is an honor, you. Mr. Razel."

Immediately, Nelly's eyes fall upon the cream-colored envelope as the traveler brandishes it before them.
"Why! Everyone's invited to the Ball proper of course, otherwise there wouldn't be as much of a show," She says.

"I expect it makes for excellent publicity and excitement throughout Roserasia."
The witch confirms her own guess with a nod of her head. "How did you enjoy last night's Banquet?"

Asuran Dorix

Seeing Naomi's endless enthusiasm for what he had already grown used to brought a genuine smile to Asuran's face. Honestly, he doubted there were many who could stay dour-faced while there was someone so filled with childish delight around. As he walked with her, he tried his best to keep up with her barrage of questions about what she noticed, but oftentimes it ended with him just being able to get out a mumble of "It's -ah, well," before she had already moved on, gracefully moving between the stalls as she went.

However, what surprised Asuran most was her lack of knowledge of what an
apple and so many other items that he saw as simple were. He couldn't fathom what she felt, having left her home and gone into what must seem to be a completely foreign world. For him he knew that it would be a very jarring experience, although it seemed that Naomi was able to roll with everything surprisingly well.

"Oh, oh oh! Can I get a huge basket of ol-" Naomi began before stopping herself short, halting her conversation with the vendor and turning to him. She seemed to compose herself for a moment before speaking to Asuran, her energy mostly subdued. At her question he scanned the stall for a moment before he looked back to her, shaking his head slightly. "I'm fine, thank you very much. Go ahead and get whatever you please."

For a moment there was a mental battle in his head before his curiosity got the better of him, and he couldn't help but ask,
"What was it you were looking to get originally? Don't avoid it on my behalf, I'd hate to stop you." Even as he said it Asuran knew that it was in bad taste to question what she had been doing, but even so he also knew that it would've nagged at him had he not said anything. And so, knowing this, Asuran could only hope for the best.
