Braelyn glanced towards the kitchen, somewhat worried about the Zoroark in there. Zoroark were known for their pranks. She didn't have much time to worry though before Vivian spoke to her directly. At the name mentioned, Braelyn's eyes lit up. Vivian was friends with Serran Jay? That was pretty cool actually. She had seen Serran perform on television and almost always ended up silently rooting for her by the end.


Braelyn nodded in response to Vivian's question. "Yes, I've heard of Serran. I can't believe you're friends with her."

Vivian giggled at Braelyn. "Him. Serran may look the part and speak the part, but 'he' is a guy. I keep telling him that pink hair of his gets him mistaken for a girl. He never listens." Vivian thought about it, "You know, if you ever go to Sylvian City you should tell him I said hi. I'd go see him myself but I have to get back to my adventure after my visit here."

Braelyn Keene

Braelyn's face grew warm as she was corrected on the gender of one of her favorite coordinators. Serran was a guy? How had she never noticed?! Well, watching on the television, the camera was mostly focused on his pokemon more so than him. On the bright side, now she knew just in case she met him one day. She'd much rather make this mistake now than in person.





"Oops..." She muttered under her breath, smiling softly at Vivian. "I promise I will Vivian." I replied, although I doubted that I would ever get that far in my journey. Sylvian City just seemed so far away right now.

Z

Z went to sleep for a bit, not hearing Vivian's questions. She woke up after a bit, noticing things were the same.


"Hey, when are we going out? I want some action." she said to nobody in particular. She stood up, carrying a now asleep Snivy.


"I wonder if this is a status effect or he's just tired." She did get confused, living things need sleep but that could be mixed up easily in battle. She took her pokeball and used it on the sleeping Snivy.

"Yeah, when are we going out? We all need to taste the air of adventure." Although he wanted to take his time getting to the champion so he could enjoy every moment, the journey wouldn't really start until they take their first step out of their home city. Chimchar was still on the ground trying to hide from Charmander, who startled him when he suddenly got fired up, before being picked up by Hiroshi and put on his shoulder.

"I wonder what's for lunch!" Eddie said, stomach growling, causing sheldon to snicker and turn away. This kid was so embarassi-


Sheldon blinked as he heard his stomach growl as well. As eddie snickered, sheldon puffed out his cheeks, stood on eddie's head, and began to jump on it up and down, determined to give his new trainer brain damage. Yet this only made eddie laugh harder and fall to the floor, causing sheldon to yelp as it fell from eddie's head and on the ground back first. This made eddie laugh even harder as sheldon tried to get back up, wiggling his legs , yet was met with no results.

The professor and his assistant walked out with platters full of food, one with sandwiches for the trainers, and the other with bowls of Pokémon food for the Pokémon. "Alright everyone eat up!" Glancing to Vivian he chuckled. "Alright Vivian, see you around."

"Well Professor, it was nice talking to you but I have to get going now. I hope to run into you guys again! It was fun meeting you all." Walking out the door Zoroark followed, but not after using it's illusion ability to transform, looking like the professor. "Oh Zoroark, we'll come back, don't worry about it." The Zoroark nodded and turned back to its natural form walking off out of town with Vivian close behind.

Z got up as soon as Jackson entered with her lunch. She grabbed hers and went back to the corner by the door. She let Snivy out and he began eating. Z finished her lunch quickly and Snivy took his time.


"Alright, we're done. See ya' Viv." She said as Vivian left.


"Time for our journey, Snivy." She said before putting him back in his pokeball. She had an idea, she would get confused if she had more than one pokeball so she would have to mark Snivy's. It was a short thought but then it went away with the excitement she was feeling.


"Oh yeah, are we getting the dexes?" Z asked with a smile towards Jackson.

Hiroshi took his food and sat down next to Kai with his Chimchar. He began to chow down his food one bite after the other, glancing at Chimchar every now and then to see how he was doing. The chimp Pokemon was eating at a slow and steady pace, watching his trainer, Charmander, and Kai gobble down on their food in bewilderment, wondering how they can eat so fast, and after some time it took its plate and went to sit down alone. Hiroshi stood up from his chair and followed him to where he went, and sat down next to him. "What's wrong, Chimchar? Do you prefer eating alone than with other people?" He questioned. It would make sense given how he seemed isolated from the others. Chimchar nodded in answer to the question, letting out a small cry.


"I don't know how it's been with you, but I'm sure eating with the others will help you get to know the others more." He suggested, speaking in a soft voice. Chimchar shook his head; he still didn't want to sit with the others. "Well, I'll be sitting here with you, whether you like it or not." He assured the Pokemon with a grin. Chimchar was confused on why he was so insistent, but continued eating his food.





Once they were done, Hiroshi stood up and turned to his Chimchar, excitement written all over his face. "Are you ready to start our journey?" It seemed some of his enthusiasm affected Chimchar, for his face looked a bit more intense than before as he nodded. Hiroshi heard what the Kai and Z were talking about, "Oh right, the Pokedexes."

Seeing the food, eddie quickly flipped over sheldon and grabbed a sandwich. Before he could munch on it though, he looked to see the turtwig give a disgusted look at the pokemon food, causing eddie to blink as the sandwich was just hovering, inches away from his mouth. With a grin, he quickly took apart the sandwich in half and gave it to the turtwig. The pokemon looked up at him with a blank stare before eating the sandwich, eddie petting his shell as he ate. Sheldon flinched at this, but he'd allow it just this once.


While eating his sandwich, he waved a goodbye to vivian before turning to the professor, stars in his eyes. "We're gonna get pokedexes?!" Eddie asked, muffled by the sandwich in his mouth.

Kai looked at Hiroshi and smiled a bit. "That's good your constantly bugging him or he would still be the same through your whole journey." Kai said knowing a whole lot about pokemon as he looked at Hiroshi. "But of course that wouldn't matter as he'd put back to that isolation once we battle later on in our journey." He said harsh words to get Chimchar angry and determined to beat his Charmander, Kai simply smirked at the two knowing what he was doing was for the good of right. Looking back at the Professor he side waiting for the announcement of the Pokedex's. Charmander climbed on Kai's lap and sat there for a bit and sighed while putting his elbows on the table and laid his chin in the palm of his hands. "Char char!" He said looking determined.

Hiroshi scowled at Kai, wondering where he got all that confidence from, "Hey, don't you think you're getting a bit too cocky?" The fire on Chimchar's tail fired up as he growled, scrunching his eyebrows as he glared at Kai. Hiroshi tried to think of a reason why Kai said that, and thought that maybe he was trying to motivate Chimchar. In that case, he didn't need to change the way he acted and just play along with it. He harrumphed and turned his face back towards the professor, a look of displeasure still being on his face.

Kai looked at Hiroshi and laughed a bit. "I carry confidence with me wherever I go since I'm going to be the Champion of the Elite four and the pokemon Master. Which either come first that's on fate." He said looking at Hiroshi and especially Chimchar. "I'm sure Charmander would like to be apart of that too." He said rubbing Charmanders neck. Something about Kai made Charmander suddenly like him as he was in Kai's motive.

"I think that maybe it's better not to have dreams that are just going to stay as dreams; you'd spend all your time trying to achieve them when you could've done something more productive." Hiroshi gave his opinion on Kai trying to capture one of every species of Pokemon, believing that it's impossible for him, or anyone, to do, but his expression changed and a grin formed on his face as he proclaimed, "But what do I know? We shouldn't worry about being able to achieve our dreams, as long as we have the desire to do it, right? I'm going to become a Pokemon master too, so watch out! I'm going to collect all the badges. I'm going to beat the champion. And I'm going to catch every Pokemon! I'll do all of that before you!" He didn't know what, but something about what Hiroshi said made Chimchar fired up, and let out a cry of agreement.

"Stay isolated chimchar and cry in the corner before Charmander has to give you the beat down. You trying to follow me to the end of world basically?" He said looking at Hiroshi. "As if you can keep up with me I know to much about the pokemon world. No matter the stories how pokemon Red beat Blue because of some miracle I don't care you will not get there before me. Each badge will be taken before you could even consider it." He said looking back at Professor. He got out of his chair putting Charmander on his shoulder. "Send me my Pokedex over the computer." I'm headed out. He said walking to the exit.​

Hiroshi turned his face to look at the professor. The battle between him and Kai would have to wait later. "What the heck's wrong with him?" He asked, trying to keep up his act. Chimchar gave a cry which indicated that he was wondering the same thing. "We need our Pokedex to start our journey." He stated to the professor, he was being impatient as he had to outpace Kai as he promised.

The Professor came out soon after her conversation with Vivian had ended. He held trays of food and Braelyn's stomach growled, reminding her that she really should have eaten more for breakfast.

Braelyn waved as Vivian and Zoroark walked out and then grabbed a few sandwiches and a bowl of food for Kristina. The purplette set the food down in front of her Oshawatt and then sat down beside the water-type. Braelyn took a few bites from her sandwiches as she watched the others socialize.

Kai mentioned getting pokedexes and Z agreed excitedly. After this, Kai and Hiroshi began to argue a bit, but Braelyn decided not to interfere and stop it. The arguing died when Kai decided to leave without his pokedex.

At this moment Braelyn felt an urge to stand and stop Kai from leaving. She had been hoping they would all go on a journey together and if Kai left that wouldn't be possible. Braelyn finished her sandwiches and stood, quietly watching Kai as he walked to the exit.​

The professor chuckled nervously at everything that had just happened. "Well then, tensions are high already I see. Anyway you all will get Pokédexes yes, however they haven't come in yet. I'll have Vivian deliver them to you when I get them. After all we did only move here recently so not all our equipment is here yet." Jackson looked around at the crowd and smiled. "Until then, I hope you all enjoy your adventure!"

Braelyn glanced at the Professor who seemed to be just as unsettled by the rivalry between Kai and Hiroshi as she herself was. He mentioned not having the pokedexes yet and Braelyn nodded. She glanced back to see if Kristina had finished her food and then quickly turned to see if Kai had left yet.


As soon as the Oshawatt had finished eating, Braelyn picked her up gently. The sea otter pokemon glanced up at Braelyn with large eyes, but seemed to understand why Braelyn was in a hurry. Braelyn made her way to the door, quickly stepping over the other starter pokemon. "Thanks a lot Professor! We'll come back to visit soon!" She called back, waving slightly. Kristina did the same and gave a little wave with a small paw. Then Braelyn walked out of the lab to look for Kai. Hopefully he wouldn't be mad at her for following him.

Hiroshi wondered what to do in this situation. He wished that he could start his journey along with one other person, so that Chimchar could overcome his loneliness, but it seemed like they were going to follow Kai, so he had to follow as well. However, if he did that, then his act would be broken and Kai's plan to make Chimchar less lonely would be foiled. If Kai did have a plan, then why did he leave him in this situation? Was he perhaps testing him to see if he knew what was right for his Chimchar? Regardless, he thought that the best thing to do was to wait to see what the others' reactions were before acting. Chimchar was looking at Hiroshi, wondering what he was thinking of doing.

Kai Takeshi & Charmander

Kai looked around as he walked to the wilderness he didn't wait for any of his friends as he waited to long for this adventure as he should've been apart of it 2 years ago but they didn't have starters at the time. He walked out and saw his first pokemon as it was a bellsprout. "Go charmander." He said as charmander jumped off his shoulder. Their first battle went smoothly as the Bellsprout fainted he laughed a bit and continued to walk on with charmander letting him relax without going into his pokeball. "How was it partner?" He asked looking at Charmander. Charmander looked determined as his flame grew. "Char char!" He said while walking with Kai.

As she stepped outside the lab, she looked around for Kai. He couldn't have gone too far right? She glanced down at Kristina almost as if to make sure she was still holding the Oshawatt. She didn't want this to be some cruel dream, although she doubted any of them wanted that.


Braelyn glanced in the direction that she knew would hold the first route. That was the most likely place for Kai to have gone for, at least as far as she could tell. The purplette set off at a rather brisk pace, attempting to lessen the distance between herself and the other trainer.


It didn't take too long considering she could eventually hear the cries of Kai's Charmander. Braelyn turned a small corner to see Kai standing triumphantly with his Charmander over a fainted Bellsprout. 'They must have already battled it...' She thought as they began walking away. Kristina squeaked from Braelyn's arms to shake her out of her thoughts.


Braelyn shot a grateful smile down at the pokemon in her arms before walking quickly after Kai. "Hey Kai! Wait up!" She called, her voice raising a few more notches than normal to attempt to get the boy's attention.
