Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

Lucius smiled a little and got to his feet, brushing himself off a bit and standing up to greet her properly. "Then let's go on together. Maybe we can find somewhere to sit with the others." He did genuinely like most of the people here, and Natalie probably didn't want to be lonely while she ate her meal.

((gtg bye!))

((Okay then ^_^ and totally forgot to reply to your last ooc lol. Anyways, if you need to sleep go ahead and sleep lol))

She nodded at him and smiled. "Sometimes," she said. When we stop somewhere that has nice scenery, I like to get as close to it as I can and eat there. There's not much here though," she said shrugging a bit.

((I have to wind down from work first, like usual lol Sometimes I'll pass out pretty quick, and others I'll be up at 1 am o-o Not fun, those times. But anywho. I'm here for just a bit))

Lucius smiled slightly and shrugged. "Well, if you look hard enough you can find beauty in everything." He looked around as they walked, thoughtful and content. "At least, that's how I like to try and see things."

((Well, it's 2 am here. When I usually go to bed lol and goodnight by the way))

"I do, when it's something knew, but seeing nothing but trees day in and day out well...it get's rather boring," she said getting to the tent. The cook smiled and fixed them up with two meals. "What's your favorite thing in the world?" she asked him softly.

((Oh it's almost 11:30 here, so you're a bit ahead of me. Night :) ))

Lucius paused and, for a long moment, seriously considered the question. It was difficult to think of something when put on the spot. "I . . . I don't really know. . ." He sighed softly, and gave a faint, wistful smile though he looked shyly at the ground instead of her. "I like protecting people. . . And being able to be near the ones I cherish. . . If I can do both at the same time, I'm happy."

((One more post before I go lol))

She smiled as she handed him his meal. She led him off to a clear spot and sat down with him. "My favorite thing is getting to make new friends and get to travel with them instead of leaving them." She only knew the people here and had ever since she was growing up. None were her age like these three were and she learned to just not talk to people when she was in the villages they performed at. "Especially if I can share my ability with one of them." She looked around to make sure they were alone and whispered. "I've been practicing. An hour each night before I sleep." She sat her tray down and said, "look." In her hands, she made a black butterfly and sent it flying off to land on a flower before it disappeared. "That's the best I can do so far though."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Archer," Melody began. "How would you feel about me wanting to be in your act?" she asked him. It looked very dangerous, yes, but so much fun. She took a bite of her food and looked at him seriously.
Lucius felt a little embarrassed, at first, because he hated being the center of attention on a personal level, but just looked on a little wide-eyed when she showed her trick. "That - That's very good, though. If you keep practicing like that, it'll be easier." And Ravens saw a bit better in the dark than others, or at least could sense through it, so she wouldn't be in danger of anyone else seeing.
*******************
Archer sputtered and almost choked on what he'd been waiting when Melody suddenly asked him an absurd question. "On the tight rope?" He asked incredulously when he'd caught his breath, looking at her. "Absolutely not! You don't have any experience, and it's much too dangerous." He shook his head a little, lowering his voice because he knew it had raised just a bit. "It's too difficult to have two people on the rope anyway. The balance of it completely shifts."
((*sigh* can't sleep))
"I can't do it that much though," she said. "That takes all the energy I have to do." She beamed at him. "So it makes falling asleep much easier," she joked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Melody frowned a bit at him and said, "I thought the net made it safe?" she asked him, remembering exactly what he had said. "And, did you have any experience when you first started?" she asked him. "I thought not. Besides, I thought maybe I could be your back up. If you couldn't perform then I could take your place." And by that, she meant if he got sick or something. "Please," she begged him.

((Aww, I'm sorry :( ))

Lucius smiled a little and nodded. "It's still very, very good. If it helps you sleep better, too, that's just a bonus."

******************************

Archer cringed a little as she refuted any of his reasoning he might've used, and finally just shook his head. "It . . . It would take a long, long time to train you - and how would we work out two people on the rope anyway? We would both ruin each other's balance, and it would limit what we could do. I couldn't cross, and neither could you."

((Lol, it's okay. Finally managed too))

Natalie smiled at him softly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"That's why I said, I would take your place just in case you couldn't go on. That way, you would still be the star, but if something happened then the show could go on. I don't mean we do it together at once," she explained.
Curses and curses again - he wanted to say some things he shouldn't' because she was out-thinking him and he hated that. ". . . I'll have to teach you how to dance first."
She giggled at him softly. "I think you're forgetting something," she said to him. "I already know how to dance. It was something I was required to learn." She stood up then and curtsied for him. "Shall we?" she asked him.
Archer rolled his eyes but was smiling a little as he got up. "Not your silly little ballroom court dances." He shook his head. "You have to learn how to leap and pirouette and grand jete. It's not as easy as you think."
((Bye, going to go watch tv with mom))
"Pir....pi...what?" she asked looking at him confused. She couldn't even say the words.
((Have fun ^_^ ))
Archer laughed a little and shook his head. "Ballet, darling. Things like that are much more suited to the rope, if you can manage them on the ground first. You can't exactly dance in circles when your only viable direction is straight."
((Night :) ))
Archer took a few steps back and started to stretch carefully. "Some of its not too difficult, but you'll need to build up strength in your legs, and perfect your balance. It's going to take a lot of time and work, Melody. This isn't an instant thing."
"I know," she said. "My harp playing wasn't an instant thing either. I'm not as fast a learner as you are," she started to mimic what he was doing.
Archer only shook his head, sitting down to better stretch his legs. "I'm talking even longer than learning to play the harp. I'm talking the time it takes to be an expert at the harp. It could be more than a year before you're any good, and longer to do anything on the rope."
"I understand," she told him, her voice softer and more serious. "I...I want to learn, I really do."
((Night))
((Night))
Archer sighed softly and looked at her a long moment. ". . . All right. I'm not trying to tell you no," He said, just to be sure she knew. "I just want you to understand."
((Sorry, been real busy still -_- And I forgot it was my turn again. God I'm bad at this whole turn-taking thing))
After Archer thought they were both properly prepared, he stood up and took a few steps away. "I'm just going to do a few of the more basic moves, and you see if you can tell what I'm doing, all right? Even a vaguely correct imitation is fine."
((It's okay, don't beat yourself up ^_^ ))
She nodded and waited for him to start. She watched carefully and then would go and try to imitate him but would end up falling down instead.
Archer laughed softly as Melody sat on the ground, and walked over to help her up. "All right?" he asked, and got her up to her feet. "See, you just have to learn to use only a piece of your foot for each movement. If the bottom if your foot is flat the whole time, you'll have too much friction and not enough balance."
