Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

Archer laughed softly as he undid his pants to slide them off as well. "Oh, no, no. You know me, I don't tone down anything. I was just thinking I told myself I'd never wear anything like this again." The first time had been . . . interesting.

((Night. Sorry for not being on much, but I might not be on too much tomorrow either))

Archer shook his head as he started to work his way into the outfit. "No, not exactly. Just . . . a rather different crowd. It was a very colorful place, and much of the clothes were very flashy. The flashier the better, I think, but I didn't try to test the theory."

((Night and I completely understand ^_^ . No need to apologize.))

"Where was it?" she asked him, turning around then. She was very interested and intrigued.

((Looooong day -_- Nice day. But looong day lol))

Archer shrugged a little as he pulled on the pants part of the costume, shaking his head. " 'Cross the water again. Had a few memorable adventures there, but not quite for any reasons normal people might consider 'good'."

((At least it was nice ^_^ . How is your grandpa doing btw?))

"Why do you never go into detail?" she complained a bit. "You always say something that I think would be a good story and then you just stop." She wasn't really upset, but she just wanted him to be more open with her. Especially now that they were...well...more than just friends.

((I haven't heard much, so I assume he was okay. Not sure if he's out of the hospital yet. He's got the diabetes so he takes forever to heal, and they wanted to keep him 'til it was healed and safe for him to go home. We don't get news often))

Archer peeked around the edge of the screen to look at her as he finished pulling the shirt over his arms. "Because -help me with these buttons, would you?" There hadn't really been a better way to make the front of the shirt look smooth and unadorned but to put the buttons in the back, and despite the tricks he did his arms did not bend that way. When he'd turned his back to allowed her access, he just shook his head. "If I told you things about my life, there wouldn't be much you wouldn't disapprove of. Strongly. Very strongly."

((Oh, well, I hope he does get better ^_^ ))

She walked over to him and started to button up his shirt. "Archer, I know what you do," she said. "And you've even done it to me in the beginning. So you can tell me. I just...I want to get to know you better." She finished up buttoning his shirt.

((Thanks :) ))

Archer snorted faintly as she did up the last button, getting a comb to run through his hair and deciding that tying it back out of the way would probably be best. "Maybe I wasn't even talking about thieving." He said, giving a fractional shrug of the shoulders, his posture overly casual as he pulled his hair back to tie it. "Maybe I've done worse."

(( ^_^ ))

She lowered her tone really low so that only Archer would be able to hear her. "Like kill for self defense? I've seen you do that too," she said. "When we were captured." Her tone now returned to normal. "I'm not going to pry though, if you really don't want to tell me, but just know, it hurts me more that you won't share with me."

Archer only shook his head and turned to walk out when the tie was in place. "I wasn't always as well off as I am now." He said, voice low and serious as he passed her by. "It's a rather recent development, actually - and it gets worse, Melody. There are worse things to be done than just killing in defense." He stopped at the tent flap and didn't look back at her. "That is why I don't tell you." He just walked out after that. He didn't want to be having this conversation.

She sighed softly as he left, wishing he could just trust her to not freak out on him. But...what if what he had done would upset her? She wished she had some deep dark secret to tell him that would hopefully get him more willing to open up, but she didn't, and like she said, she wasn't going to pry anymore. She would just have to wait and hope that one day he would come forth. She walked out and grabbed her instrument and put it into place for when his act came on. When it was in place, she practiced once more, what she was supposed to do, and grew very nervous at having to play in front of a crowd.

Archer waited patiently where he was supposed to wait, stretching carefully and getting himself prepared, trying to put the conversation and memories it brought up behind him. When he went out, he was in full on performance mode, something easy for him. He smiled wide and waved to the crowd even as he climbed up the ladder for the tightrope, and made a show of fake falling as planned, just before Melody began to play the right tunes, and slipped right into his routine. Acrobatics were something people had seen before. Acrobatics atop the rope were not.

Melody started playing, focusing on the music, but she couldn't help but watch as she played, really enjoying the show Archer put on. She faltered once, realized it, and then refocused her attention, and played on feeling embarrassed about that slip up. She heard the gasps from the crowd and the screams as he fake fell and did other dangerous stunts on the rope. Melody herself felt frightened as well, though she had watched him practice, since she had to practice playing while he preformed.

Archer spun and twisted and tossed himself about, without so much as a twinge of fear. There was a net, far below, of course, but he knew he wouldn't need it. Even if he had been a bit rusty, he'd done all this and more before, and it wasn't as nerve wracking as it might be for most. If he fell without a net, he'd die instantly, after all. There would be nothing to worry about then.

((Playing Zelda. Replies slow))

((It's okay ^_^ . Getting ready to play league of legends))

Melody played and played, keeping up with him and playing the right tune for the added dramatics. She listened as the crowd continued to gasp, utterly engaged in the performance.

((Ooo. Have fun :) ))

Archer finished, finally, by doing a few more complicated tricks and ending up on his hands, then just waking that way to the platform, where he popped up onto just one and used the other to wave to the audience. If the applause and the previous 'oo's and 'ah's were any indication, he thought he'd done a good job.

((I'll try to, my first time playing it lol. Just downloaded it last night))

Melody finished up playing like she was supposed to, when he got over to the platform. She clapped herself along with the crowd, who seemed to really love it. She herself was relieved that he was okay.

((Oh, god I'm about to do the final boss battle O.o I'm so nervous! This is going to include a whole lot of flailing and screaming))

Archer rolled easily to his feet and made his way down the ladder even as the next act began to take their places and the Ring Master introduced them. Archer ushered Melody off with him, panting slightly as they made it out if the way. "So?" He asked, a little winded still. "How'd I do?"

((Well, good luck with that ^_^ and I know how that goes lol))

"You did amazing," she said excitedly. "It was so great. I was afraid you were going to fall. The crowd loved it too."

((I WIN!!!!!!! Wooooooooooo!!!

I get so stressed over these things, even though I use a strategy guide to prevent that O.o I'm going to be high strung until I go to work in a little less than two hours xD ))

Archer grinned. "Why, thank you. That's the point of the show, you know. They're supposed to be on the edge of their seats the whole time."

((OH MY GOD!!! ,O~O, At the end, the Princess of Twilight destroys the Mirror of Twilight as she leaves, which is the gate between her world and Link's, and she and Link will never see each other again!!! My emotions!!))

((Yeah, I never got to beat it but I watched my sister beat it and saw that. It was pretty sad. And I use a strategy guide all the time lol))

"Well, it certainly had me on the edge of my seat, even if I had seen you practice a few times. It's still pretty scary."

((Gtg to work bye!))

Archer laughed softly end shook his head, patting her shoulder. "I'm fine, I'm fine. There's a net, anyway."
