Of Shadows and Swords (Chiarra)

((Bye ^_^ ))

"I know, but still. How safe is that net anyways?" she asked. She would be upset if anything happened to either him or Lucius and even Natalie too since they had become great friends.

She was relieved somewhat. "I hope that stays true," she said. She reached out and grabbed his hand, smiling softly as it was now time for the ring master's, Natalie's, and Lucius's act. "Is there a volunteer in the audience?" Alrin's voice boomed out over the crowd.

Archer nodded and just held her hand as they watched the next act. Lucius stayed still and seemingly oblivious as Alrin called for volunteers, waiting for the man to circle and circle and finally point directly at him, claiming that he would be the volunteer. Lucius couldn't seem to eager, after all.

"Me?" Lucius answered, barely loud enough for people to hear, and pointed to himself, looking shocked, "I-I didn't voluntee-"

But he was being called down anyway, Natalie going up to the seats to pull him back to the show floor with her. Good. No one suspected anything.

Alrin just smiled and watched as Natalie pulled him up to the stage. "For this next act," he began when Lucius was up there. He opened up the box that was on the stage and continued, "I will make him disappear into thin air in this box." He waited for Lucius to enter, before shutting it and gave him a good amount of time to disappear in the shadows, while saying some pretty colorful words that sounded like they were supposed to be magic spells.

((Longest, most stressful day of my life. I will now eat myself into a coma so that I can try to sleep before 2 am))

Lucius looked baffled and a little worried until the door shut, then just closed his eyes and did a quick check through the shadows he could feel nearby. He picked one a few seconds later, and rematerialized near where Archer and Melody were standing so that he could still here Alrin and get his cue if the man decided to make him 'reappear'. He smiled a little at them, staying hidden in the darker area he'd popped up in. "Your act went well."

((Aww. Well, I would send you some of the cake I'm baking if only it would go through the screen without making a mess lol. Mom's birthday so I'm making homemade chocolate cake from scratch with homemade fudge and whip cream icing.))

"Hey," She smiled at Lucius when he popped up. "Your's is too," she complimented him. "Great acting skills," she chuckled.

The crowd gasped when Lucius disappeared and the box was empty, then it was shut again and Alrin gave the cue for him to return.

((Ooo, sounds awesome. Isn't making cakes from scratch fun? ^_^ I need to get back into baking again, but I work too often to plan it all :P ))

Lucius smiled a little and shook his head. "Looking clueless comes in handy sometimes. Oh - gotta go." He stepped back again and disappeared through the shadows, returning to the box once the door had been closed. When it was opened again, he blinked at the light and put a hand up to shield his eyes, letting Natalie lead him back out and looking a bit dazed as the crowd applauded. It had gone off without a hitch, he thought. Now he just had to get back to his seat and wait out the rest of the show.

((I love baking, hate cooking, but I love making sweet treats lol. Anyways, I hope today gets better for you ^_^ ))

Natalie smiled and whispered to him as she led him back out. "You did great!"

"I think this is the best thing we could've come across," Melody smiled. "So much better than just traveling by ourselves."

((Yeah, baking is fun. I like cooking, too, though, most times :) when I know what I'm doing and have the time for it lol))

Lucius managed a shaky smile as he waved to the crowd, and let Natalie lead him back towards the seats. "Thanks," he whispered back, and didnt say anything else.

Archer nodded . "Yep. Glad I thought of it." He winced when she smacked his shoulder, and laughed quietly. "Oh, fine. Glad you thought of it."

((Mom worries about when I go off on my own lol, because i'll be eating canned food like ravioli and ramen because I hate cooking so much.))

"Who thought of it?" Melody asked him, slapping him on the shoulder. She sighed and turned her attention back to the show, watching the rest of it.

((Oh god. That sounds horrible xD ))

Archer snickered to himself, then just watched with her, after a while slipping a hand into hers. When everything was beginning to wrap up, they fled to their tent to be out of the patrons' ways and to change into normal clothes, and waited for Lucius to return.

((I know, I'm just so lazy though and really impatient. If it's not done in three minutes or less I don't want to fix it.))

"That was a great show," she said, very excited. "I can't wait until the next one." She smiled softly at Archer and continued, "When Lucius gets back I'll go ahead and go get the food."

((You're going to starve lol))

Archer nodded and finished pulling on his shirt, folding the show clothes and setting them aside. "He should be back soon enough. Maybe he has to discuss the show with Natalie and Alrin though. I think they did a good job of it. So long as they don't do it more than once or twice within each town, it should work fine."

((Yes I am lol. Hungry now, but too lazy to fix anything. Have to do the dishes anyways so...*sigh*))

Melody laughed softly. "I think they know that." She walked over to him and softly kissed him on the lips.

She smiled and nodded softly. "We could go and have a private dinner, when I give Lucius his food. Maybe he would even go and spend time with Natalie," she suggested.

Archer nodded to her idea, but had to give a quiet laugh. "You're pushing them together a bit, dear. Isn't meddling in others' affairs supposed to be my job?"

((I leave for work in about twenty. Just as a warning))

((Okay then ^_^ ))

Melody shrugged a bit and said, "Yes, but I decided to try my hand at it for once." She gave him an innocent look.

Archer paused, surprised, then just laughed and leaned on her, an arm around her shoulders. Lucius came back around then, and took off the cloak he'd been wearing to disguise himself a bit, just in case. "Everything went well?"

She smiled at Lucius when he came in and nodded. "Perfectly," She smiled at him. "Hey Lucius, Archer and I are going to go eat somewhere else, why don't you go eat with Natalie?" she suggested.

((Might not be on for more than a post or two. Helped a friend move all day - actually move, finally, not just packing. And I still have to eat and get ready for work))

Lucius paused at first, surprised, but after a moment only nodded and gave a small smile. "All right. Have fun."

Archer almost felt bad about leaving him behind, but waved and left anyway. Lucius was a big boy. He could take care of himself.

((Okay, then. Don't worry about the rp, just do what you have to do))

Melody smiled and went of with Archer. She thought that maybe she shouldn't have done that, but...how else were Lucius and Natalie going to have alone time and in the process giving Melody and Archer alone time..

Natalie noticed Archer and Melody walking alone, without Lucius and went to go find him. "Hey," she said.

((Like sleep for a million years? lol I'm actually not that tired, but I feel like I might be after work. . . Depends on how busy we are, I guess))

Archer took Melody's hand when they were free of the tent and walked her towards where the 'kitchen' tents were. "I'm sure we can find a place to sit alone for a while. I'll be nice."

Lucius looked up when Natalie found him, having been in the process of lacing up his shoes, since he used different pairs for when he was just roaming about. One he kept clean, and the other he let get as dirty as he pleased before he eventually cleaned them again. "Oh." He smiled a little as he finished lacing them up. "Hey. Are you eating with Alrin today? Would you mind terribly if I joined you?"

She smiled at him. "That sounds nice."

Natalie shook her head. "Master's busy," she said. "So no, I wouldn't mind if you joined me," she smiled at him.
