Never went and looked into it, friends at work were talking about it Saturday and mentioned they didn't like it so I didn't bother. I'm going to guess it's the latter of the two you mentioned.

But yeah, the Japanese one, PowerPuff Girls Z I think was the title was supposed to be pretty good. Apparently the US reboot made some poor choices in VA casting.
