Music of the Knight

Kaname could feel an unpleasant presence- as if the air was polluted in the Night Class dorms. He frowned to himself, understanding what was happening but unsure exactly how to deal with the situation at the present moment. It would be rather easy for him to just get rid of his relative while he was weaker, but it wouldn't be right to do so while he was borrowing a body. Still...the thought was quite tempting. If anything happened to the other students as a result of Rido's presence, Kaname would not be able to forgive himself. Even more importantly, he couldn't let Rido get his hands on Yuki. Her past was stained with crimson as it was, and there was no chance Kaname would allow her to suffer more than she already had. Yet the innocent times were over, and there were things that had to be done. "I'm sorry Headmaster," Kaname said to himself, "but coexisting is one of the least of my problems at the moment." The tall vampire left his room to make an announcement. "We will not be attending class anymore," he said. "You are to stay in the dormitory unless otherwise instructed." The vampires honestly didn't do much in class anyways, and he would rather have any problems right under his nose so that they hopefully wouldn't threaten the safety of the Day Class.

The amused look on 'Senri's' face couldn't be more obvious. The normally stoic boy grinned with an air of triumph. "And, why is that, Dorm President?" Rido knew that Kaname was too soft to injure his cousin's body. Takuma's eyes widened. "Senri, don't-" the blonde started, keeping Maia as far away from his friend as possible. "Don't what, Takuma? Question our brave leader's instructions?" Senri chuckled softly. "Really, Senri, what is your problem? You've been acting weird for a couple days now." Rima spoke up. Senri glared at her, walking toward her purposefully. "My dear Rima, nothing is wrong with me. I am perfectly alright." He placed a teasingly gentle hand on her cheek. Rima backed off and headed to her room with a weird feeling. Senri laughed as he walked up to where Kaname was, whispering to him. "My beloved nephew, you cannot protect her forever. I will have my revenge against Juuri." He looked out a nearby window, where Yuki now was, patrolling the area. "And, she definitely looks like my baby sister, doesn't she?"

Maia's face grew very concerned as she watched the exchange. Something was definitely wrong with Senri, but she couldn't figure it out either. The Senri she knew would never talk in such a way, so defiant against the pureblood. Maia was about to ask Takuma what was happening, but when Senri approached Rima she decided against it. There was something big happening here at Cross Academy, and Maia felt so in the dark. The blonde quietly decided she should just go back to her room until the daytime when she would watch over Yuki as instructed.

Kaname's eyes flashed with rage as 'Senri' spoke. He could end that monster right now... But Kaname restrained himself for a moment until he noticed Rima and Maia leave the room. "Well, I suppose if you're so concerned about our education, perhaps you'd like to leave so we can return to our normal studies," Kaname said with a falsely pleasant voice. But then when he talked about Juuri and Yuki in such a way, Kaname had enough. The floor began to crack, Kaname's power racing from himself to strike down his former classmate.

"Oh, but, Kaname, didn't you not just instruct all of your loyal dogs to stay here?" Senri chuckled, never wavering from his air of triumph. "I would never disobey a direct order." He hissed in Kaname's ear, his hot breath against the other's neck, looking quite thirsty at the moment. "You have been a thorn in my side for far too long. Not only was Juuri, the love of my life, taken from me, but, you of all people turn away from me. Me, the man that brought you back from the pit of hell." He sighed. "You should very much be thanking me, boy." He moved away when Kaname ruined the floor. "Oh, you're absolutely terrifying!" He laughed. "But, if you insist on my leaving, I will." He stalked down the steps and out onto the grounds, into the sun, seeing Yuki not far off. He followed her, ignoring screaming fans. Of course, Yuki held them back. "Senri, you shouldn't be here." She pointed out. Senri laughed. "Oh, I know. I just wanted some air. Kaname told me to leave the dorm." Yuki raised a brow. "He did?"

By 'leave' of course, Kaname had meant leave the face of the earth forever- not 'go outside with Yuki'. It angered him, and now Kaname severely felt like ripping the man to shreds. "Well, Takuma? You still wish to protect him?" he challenged. His eyes turned red as he shattered the lightbulb in an overhanging lamp. "Perhaps you should come if you don't wish for me to do something rash," he told the vice president. Shiki or not, Kaname was about fed up with the audacity and the way he talked about Yuki. She wasn't Juuri, and she never would be- Rido was wrong in thinking that he could treat her like the same person. Kaname's pulse raced angrily as he stepped out of the dormitory with a purposeful glare, not waiting to see if Takuma would follow him. The fangirls who started to approach him stopped in their tracks when they noticed the unfriendly look on Kaname's face. The normally rabid fans stepped aside and created a clear path for the man as he stepped between Yuki and Shiki. "Well I've changed my mind, then," Kaname said to Shiki. Kaname glanced back at Yuki. If she was going to turn into a vampire once again, it would be on his terms and timing, though it seemed it would have to happen sooner than he anticipated.

Takuma thought back to what Ichio had asked him to do after Rido took Senri's body. "Watch over him until the time is right." Takuma was disgusted with himself. He wanted to obey two men at the same time. "Kaname, wait!" He stood between the two Purebloods. "Senri, let's go. Come on, we'll go back inside." He grabbed Senri's upper arm and led him inside. Yuki stayed outside with Kaname. "What's wrong with him, Kaname?" She watched the others disappear back inside, leaving the two lovers together. "I'm sorry. I guess I should stay away for now." She spoke softly, while they were watched by humans, who all looked upset about the whole thing.

(Sorry about my unexpected absence :( )

Kaname clenched his fists but made no further advances toward Senri as Takuma intervened. He wouldn't harm the vice president, and the pureblood knew that he also had his instructions. From now on, there might be things that Takuma would do that weren't exactly Kaname's instructions but rather the Senate's. Kaname knew that when the time came, he would still be able to count on Takuma. Kaname turned as the situation died down, and he fixed his gaze on Yuki. "Yes, I'm afraid it would be best to keep your distance for a little while." Kaname spoke softly, just as Yuki had, so their voices wouldn't be so easily heard by the spying Day Class members. "I will find time to make this work," he told Yuki with a faint smile, "but you should stay away from the Moon Dorms, and Senri if possible. He will be better soon, I'm sure." Kaname placed a hand on Yuki's shoulder before turning back to the Moon Dormitory. He wanted to comfort his lover, but he knew that doing so would cause something near a riot among the Day Class girls, and he didn't want Yuki to have to suffer through that. She was going through enough as it was...

Wait! Come back! Yuki didn't like being separated from her lover after she was just startled by Senri's actions. You're doing it again, Kaname. You're purposefully distancing yourself from me. "I hate it. After all that he said, he's just going to walk out on me all because we were being watched." The female sighed. "It's not exactly fair." Turning around, she stalked toward her room, ignoring everyone. "What he's asking me to do is impossible. I'm a Guardian. Kaname and I have a bond." She let her thoughts get carried away to that room again. That woman again. So beautiful. Yuki hid her face in the pillow as she sensed the woman's fear. "What's going on?" Her head hurt as she came out of the vision.

I'm sorry, Yuki. Truly, I am. I wish we could stay together and never be separated. You don't know how happy that would make me... Kaname thought he heard the faint sound of bells. He turned to the sound and caught a glimpse of silver hair before the chimes disappeared. He thought he felt Shizuka Hio's presence for a moment. But he knew it wasn't her- Kaname had seen her dead by his own hand. The pureblood was stronger than ever before, yet he could not even protect Yuki from the world's dangers, or even the risks that came with being who she was. It injured the man's pride greatly. Kaname did feel bad about the way things were going, and he wanted to make it up to Yuki in some way. Perhaps they could spend some time together soon. However, Kaname decided it would be best to find Rido and resurrect his true form in the near future- the sooner he did that, the sooner he could have Yuki back...the real Yuki, the vampire Yuki that he loved just as much as the human Yuki.

Inside, Takuma seemed to be scolding Senri. "You really shouldn't be so reckless, Senri. That was dangerous!" The green eyed vampire chastised, to which the other merely shrugged. "Well, Takuma, our beloved dorm president did tell me to go, so I did. I was only obeying a direct order." He bit into his own finger and drank his blood. "But, you aren't well, Senri. Your body is weakening. You know that." The vice president continued, to which the other stood up and ignored him for a moment. "I'm aware of what my own body is capable of. My blood, the blood of a Kuran, runs through this body, dear boy." He pat Takuma's cheek playfully before climbing the stairs to his room. Meanwhile, Yuki tossed and turned fitfully in bed, crying and screaming for the pain to stop, for someone to just end it all.

Zero heard Yuki's cries and rushed into her room. "Yuki!" he exclaimed, shaking her shoulders roughly. "What's wrong? Hey, wake up!" The male tried not to stare at her neck as he woke the girl. "Calm down, it was just a dream," he soothed her.

Kaname ran his long fingers through his hair that was unruly from lack of upkeep. He was far too preoccupied to bother with petty things such as appearance right now. Kaname recalled the bells accompanied by the silver hair. Good, he thought. The other Kiryu twin was here too. Ichiru would be needed- he was another pawn on the chessboard, even though he was weak and fragile. "Yes, Zero...I know you will not betray Yuki." Kaname sighed as he looked out the window. For a brief moment, his mind was overcome with snowy white days that reminded him of Yuki. "I don't know how much longer I can stand to see you suffer... Shall I remind you of who you are tonight, my love?" he asked aloud, although he knew she wouldn't be able to hear him.

Yuki woke from her screaming fit, tears in her eyes, staining her beautiful face. "Z-Zero!" She thrust herself at him, squeezing him close to her, shaking still. "Zero, I-I didn't mean to wake you. I'm sorry. You should go back to bed after I give you my blood." She grabbed her hair and moved it away from the tender flesh of her neck. "I saw you talking to Ichiru earlier. I'm glad you are trying." She murmured. Their father wandered the halls. "Zero? Yuki? What are you two doing up? It's late." He felt something on his territory that wasn't welcome. He was going to lose both of his children in a matter of hours. They would be lost to themselves.

"Tch! No, stop it." Zero turned his head from Yuki, once again refusing to drink her blood. "I'm fine," he told her. Zero stiffened when she mentioned Ichiru but gave a shrug before the Headmaster came in. "We're fine, Headmaster. Yuki was having a nightmare, but she's okay now," Zero told the man. When Zero thought about it, he never really knew anything about Yuki's past. Yet, he didn't expect it to be so frightening- he thought she was just a normal human girl with an average childhood except for the fact that her parents must have passed away when she was young, since she was already living with Headmaster Cross when Zero came to live with them too. Zero saw a blur outside the window. He narrowed his eyes, feeling the presence of a vampire. It felt like Kaname Kuran. "Are you sure you're okay, Yuki?" Zero asked, not wanting to leave her in a time of need.

"I-I'm fine." She promised, feeling her lover just outside the window. She was safe, but, for how much longer? "Zero, if you don't take any, you'll die! Why don't you get that I don't want to lose anyone or anything else?" She lost her memory already. She wasn't going to lose Zero when he could easily save himself if he just took her blood! "He'll understand, Zero. Just do it. I can't stand seeing you hurting so badly!" Her gaze traveled to his neck, where the symbol shined. "Please. Just this once and then you can go to bed. I promise." She was terrified of losing her best friend. "Hang on, Zero." She knew Kaname was right outside, but, making Zero comfortable came as her number one priority right now. She swept toward the window and latched it shut for a few minutes. "He's not coming in, Zero." She then sat beside him, neck exposed, on the bed. "Trust me."

Zero's hands shook as he tried to resist, but as usual, the thirst controlled him before his hatred for vampires could stop him. The silver-haired male quickly sank his teeth into her neck, drinking her blood yet again. Why she continued to do this for him, he might never truly understand. Zero hated this, but he was desperate. He drank more than he should have but managed to release Yuki before she passed out. "I'm sorry," he said. His eyes turned back to normal, and he laid Yuki gently back on her pillow before leaving the room.

Meanwhile, Kaname saw Zero and Yuki from the window. He heard his lover latch the window, shutting him out. Although Kaname knew that she chose him, it still hurt to see her with another man, knowing exactly what they were doing- what they had been doing for a long time. Kaname entered through the main door and approached Headmaster Cross. "I'm sorry for all that has happened- for endangering this academy and its students. I still hope that someday our dreams of coexistence will come to pass. But now, it's time," he said. "It's time for Yuki to wake up."

The headmaster saw his friend open the front door and sighed. "Yes, Kaname, it is time. I cannot hold onto her forever. We knew that this was to occur ten years ago, even fifteen, didn't we?" He tried his best to smile, but it was impossible. "Come with me, then." They passed Zero's room. "Zero, I suggest you stay in your room for a few minutes." He told his son with a sigh as he knocked on the door of the Kuran princess. "Yuki?"

The girl was busy wiping her neck clean. She could sense that Kaname wasn't at the window anymore, and that could only mean that he was with her father right now. "Hold on, I'm...I'm not decent." She explained as best she could. Smoothing her gown, she brushed out her hair, hiding the fang marks that were visible right now. "He'll smell it anyway." She muttered while she flipped her hair over her neck and told the men to come in. When she saw Kaname, her facial expression changed. She felt guilty for having shut him out, having him witness what Zero did. "Oh, hello, Kaname." She rubbed her arms as Cross left them alone, looking sad. "Headmaster...Father, whats the matter?" The older man didn't answer her. Yuki looked toward her lover. "Kaname, I'm so glad to see you!" She thrust herself at him. "The nightmares are starting again..." she whined.

Kaname nodded to the Headmaster, grateful for his understanding. He knew that this must be hard for Kaien...he had invested so much in his childrens lives. "I'll do my best to rid this school of that dreadful relative of mine as quickly as possible," he assured the Headmaster before he left them alone. Kaname turned to Yuki, feeling her suddenly embrace him. He held her tightly back for a moment before brushing her hair aside and looking down at her. "I know," he said when Yuki mentioned her nightmares. "I'm very sorry, Yuki. But it will all be over soon. I told you I would explain everything to you, so now I'm going to do that." Kaname swiftly scooped her up in his arms. Within moments, the two were outside, and soft white snow was falling. The white particles settled onto Kaname's jacket and nestled into Yuki's short hair. Kaname set Yuki down and looked at the sky for a brief moment. It was snowing...just like that night ten years ago, ten long years ago. "That doesn't matter anymore," he whispered to himself. "This might hurt a bit...but it's time for you to remember who you are," Kaname told Yuki. With that, he pulled her close to himself and bit into her neck, taking care not to spill her blood everywhere. Yuki's blood was something that Kaname had missed, something he had waited too many years for. Her blood held strong emotions and lots of confusion. It tasted like love, but most of all, it tasted like home. The pureblood released Yuki and bit into his own hand before extending the crimson warmth to her. "Come, drink. Live the long flow of time with me as a vampire, Yuki."

At once, Yuki felt his hands on her body as the man scooped her up. Snuggled against his chest, she felt nothing but the familiar warmth that she had grown accustomed to after so long. Not even the bitter cold could phase her as long as this man, Kaname Kuran, was by her side. He had set her down. Her feet, she could feel, were frigid as the flakes settled between her toes. "K-Kaname, what are yo-ahhh!!!" She screamed, unable to stop herself as tears stung her face, as she was given her first nourishment as a vampire. The world around her seemed to shift and twirl and flip like a gymnast. All at once, she couldn't stop herself. She latched her....fangs....onto Kaname's hand, sucking on it like a baby searching for her bottle. It was like nothing she had ever tasted before. Even her eyes were excited as they retained their red hue for the first time in years. She continued to feed from Kaname's hand. She couldn't stop.

Kaname stroked Yuki's hair as she quenched her newfound thirst. "It's okay," he told her gently. Kaname could feel her tears mixing with the blood that flowed down his wrist. "You won't hurt me," he assured her. Kaname knew that Yuki would be concerned. She was always thinking of other people more than herself, but he loved that about her. After letting her drink for a long time, Kaname gently pulled his wrist away from Yuki's fangs. "Come now, you need to rest. You're very weak like this, so you shouldn't try to walk or anything. I'll carry you and let you sleep in my room for awhile until you feel better." As Kaname was about to pick Yuki up once again, he heard the click of a gun. Zero. Kaname could see the angry Guardian's face over the edge of the rooftop. "I sense two vampires. Kaname, what have you done!?" Zero accused fiercely. Kaname stared back with a condescending gaze, as if he knew Zero wouldn't shoot them.

Yuki was about to agree, was about to allow Kaname to take her upstairs, when Zero cocked his gun. "No!" Yuki screamed and stood up, covering the male, protecting him from the Bloody Rose and the even more dangerous vampire hunter. "Zero, don't! He didn't do anything wrong!" Her hair fell in her face. "He's...he's my...my brother!" She whimpered. "Don't hurt him!" Her legs felt like jelly as she fell back into the other's embrace, too weak to continue.

Meanwhile, the whole of the Night Class was excited and curious about this new development, especially the mismatched Senri. "Ah, so, it's happened. Welcome home, my beautiful princess." He chuckled softly. Ruka sat by her window. "Th-That's....Kaname!" She searched the grounds for him. "Zero's going to kill him!" Akatsuki exclaimed, charging toward his president, but, he stopped, remembering what the Pureblood said. "We can't do anything."

"What!?" Zero's eyes widened as he stood frozen in shock. Kaname nodded. "Indeed, she is truly the pureblood daughter of Haruka and Juuri Kuran." With that, the man supported Yuki and carried her to a room in the Headmaster's quarters after deciding that his room might not be as safe as it normally was. "Rest here," Kaname told Yuki as he set her down gently on the bed. "You're a vampire now, Yuki. You always have been, but your powers were sealed away. You may have seen that when you drank my blood. And so you may also realize that we have an enemy trying to keep us apart. So now, I must go put an end to it. I'll be back soon, I promise. So just wait for me," Kaname instructed, placing a kiss on Yuki's forehead. Kaname then left Yuki and went to some of the Night Class members- some of them were to protect Yuki and some were to protect the Day Class students. Of course, Takuma knew he was still to watch Senri, but soon that would be unnecessary. Without wasting any more time, Kaname went to resurrect the true body of Rido Kuran.

Senri lay on his bed with a smirk that rivaled the Chesire cat plastered across his beautiful face. "I'll see you soon, Nephew." He chuckled out loud and sat up. Takuma watched his friend with intensity. "Come now, Takuma, don't be so disappointed. Senri will come back to you." He pat the other's shoulder and stretched. "Hm, after a ten year nap, I will finally reunite with my family. How sweet." Takuma shook his head. After Hanabusa's attack, or, attempt attack on Yuki, others thought it odd that he was one of two assigned to Yuki's bedside. Perhaps it was because Yuki has returned and placing him with humans would be too risky. "Huh? Where am I?" Yuki looked around. "This is my room." She fingered the blanket, threw it off, and stood up. "I have to find him." She opened her door, hair flowing behind her. "Kaname?" She looked left and right. "Wait. I'll just do this!" She came back into her room and jumped through an open window.

Aido, who had been standing guard outside of Yuki's door quickly straightened when he heard her voice. Yet, before he was able to stop her search, she disappeared into her room and...jumped out the window. "Wh-Yuki! I mean...Lady Yuki, wait up!" he yelled. The male quickly rushed out the door and chased the new vampire. She couldn't just go running around everywhere with her body so fragile.

Meanwhile, Kaname looked down upon the dormant body of Rido Kuran. Kaname's lips curled back in a disgusted expression, but he grabbed a blade and did what had to be done. Thick red blood slowly covered Rido's body. Kaname's blood would soon be pumping through his veins again. It was a blood they shared- this was family business that hadn't been resolved for many years. After he let his relative's body soak in a lot of his blood, Kaname left. He knew Rido would find him, and he didn't have to wait around. Now, he had more important things to do. Kaname could feel his anger for the Senate burning like a flame that could not be extinguished until he had confronted its leader, Ichio.

Yuki couldn't smell Kaname anywhere close. That upset her. He shouldn't be away from her right now. "Ai-Aido, you called me 'Lady Yuki.'" She was stunned. "Just call me 'Yuki', it's fine." She smelled the air again. "He's not here. Where is he? He promised he'd be back. I heard his voice a few hours ago. He should have been back by now." The princess wasn't worried, but she hated the thought of her lover away from her at such dangerous times. "Well, while we wait, I want to see Zero." She demanded. As soon as Kaname's blood hit the water, miles away, Senri started heaving and lurching, doubled over and screaming. He wasn't hurting, but Rido was escaping and making it known to everyone. Soon, Senri was on the ground, screaming in agony. "Get out!" He ordered, then, he was still.

Aido's face went pale as he waved his hands frantically back and forth. "I-I don't really think that's a good idea right now. Tell her, Maia!" Aido gave the other vampire who was looking after Yuki a light push so that she would talk sense into Yuki. "Ah, no offense, Yuki...but I don't really know if Zero will want to see you right now, you know? Plus, you really need to be more careful before jumping out of windows like that. You're not quite stable right now-" "And you forgot your shoes!" Aido cut her off, pointing at Yuki's feet. "Ugh, Kaname will kill me if he finds out..." Maia thought she heard someone screaming. "Stay here, I'll be back!" she said, rushing toward the sound even though Aido tried to tell her she needed to stay and guard Yuki. Maia didn't know who it was, but there was a chance it was possibly a Day Class student, and that wouldn't be good. However, she soon discovered it was coming from the Moon Dorms. "Takuma? Senri!"

Zero. Kaname had a feeling that Yuki wouldn't be able to let him go so easily, and she would probably try to see him. He should probably return to her first before facing Ichio and the Senate. She should have awoken by now, and if so, then it was possibly she was wondering where he was. Kaname turned to go back to the school, hoping that Zero was almost ready to fulfill his role- he owed Yuki that much.
