Music of the Knight

Aido sighed. "I don't see why we had to come along. I doubt any vampires would try to attack a pureblood. After all, they can sense it and would be stupid to try." Akatsuki elbowed his cousin, casting him a glance that told him to shut up because he was being rude. "Lord Kaname is just being cautious," he said. "Lady Yuki has been a human for the past several years, and he has watched over her the whole time we were at Cross Academy. He probably isn't used to letting her far from his sight without protection."

Meanwhile, Kaname had instructed Ruka to finish polishing the silverware and clean the rest of the dining room while he and Takuma repaired cracks in the walls and floor. The pureblood dusted off his hands and stood as the two finished with the last large crack. "Well, I guess we should compile a guest list," he said. "I'll ask you and Ruka to deliver the invitations tomorrow, if that's okay. I would go myself and take Yuki to have her meet other vampires, but I want Yuki to be presented on the day of the party." It was a big deal to Kaname, since Yuki was his pride and joy, and he had a few plans to set into action before then. The party would be more than just another soiree- this one would be special.

"No one is forcing you to be here. You could easily leave, Hanabusa." Yuki turned around and stuck her tongue out at him for a second. "It certainly wasn't my idea to have the very same vampire that attacked me on multiple occasions accompany me to town." She turned back to face the direction she was walking. "I'm sure I could have lasted until I got back." She actually wasn't very sure about that, but she knew that she could have at least lasted until she reached Cross Academy, then had Kaien accompany her. "If you don't want to be here, then I won't stop you from leaving, but, you do owe me, Aido. If I recall correctly, the majority of the Day Class girls were after you." A few minutes later, she opened a shop door and began the hunt.

Something struck Takuma. "Lord Kaname?" He began his search for something to write on and something to write with. Once he found them, he sat down at the table and immediately added the names of the Ichijo, Aido, Kain and Souen and Touya families. He paused for a second. S h i.... he didn't know if he should add Senri's family to the list. "I have two questions. My first question is if we should add the Shikis to this list. My second question is: Do you think it was safe to leave Hanabusa, Akatski and Yuki alone together?"

Hanabusa's face scrunched into a pout as he crossed his arms like a small child. "Oh like you never yelled at me," he started. The blonde clenched his fists lightly and bit his lip in frustration when Yuki reminded him of the Day Class girls who chased after him. He always enjoyed the showered attention, but he honestly wouldn't know what to do if the girls ever got to him. He was a bit impulsive, but even he knew better than to drain every human that came at him, and he didn't want to get in so much trouble with Kaname. "Come on, you two," Kain sighed, running a hair through his unruly orange hair. "Let's just get the invitations and get back." Hanabusa just huffed in reply. "Fine."

Kaname bit his lower lip softly, not hard enough to make it bleed. Shiki. He frowned slightly at the name, recalling Rido and Senri. Still, he could not think too harshly of the younger male vampire. "Yes, let's add them. It's only Senri and his mother now, I believe. Unless they bring extended family." Kaname nodded. "We were classmates, and we are still cousins, regardless of the past." Kaname straightened from leaning over the table at the second question. A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, and a small chuckle escaped his lips. "I think they'll be fine," Kaname said. "Aido may be childish at times, but I know he can be trusted in the end, and Yuki will keep him in line if Akatsuki can't. Besides, I think it's important Yuki learns to get along with all of us, since she is one of us now, don't you?

Yuki already had much more respect for Akatsuki than for his more outgoing cousin. "I'm coming." As she walked down the small aisles for a good invitation, she smirked to herself. "You're gonna love the party. I just know it." She bit her lip, trying to think of how the invites would be worded. "I'm looking for what kind of invitations, exactly? I guess they would be homecoming invitations, right?" Her fingers thumbed through the designs until Yuki found the kind she wanted. Yuki just grabbed a handful. "Okay, I'm ready!" She had way too much energy right now. She was still somewhat going through that stage where she was far too powerful and too little experienced. As she paid for the invites, Yuki giggled, unable to wait for the party. "I'll beat you back!" She sprinted out of the store and started toward home.

Takuma agrees with a smile, finishing out the names of guests. "And, why, if you want to reveal Lady Yuki at the party, did you send her outside for the invitations?" It's not that Takuma thought Kaname stupid. In fact, he thought the exact opposite of his oldest friend, but it just seemed like common sense not to send the lost princess away when she was supposed to be kept quiet, so to speak. Takuma started cleaning up his mess. "I guess that's too many questions, huh?" He chuckled. "I don't know how you get along this way, Lord Kaname. It would drive me mad to have to handle all of the vampire students at once for years before coming here and dealing with a whole new set of problems."

Aido and Akatsuki wandered through the store just to occupy time while Yuki picked out the invitations. It was habit for them to try and keep their eye out for anything suspicious just in case, but the store was actually rather empty today. Before they knew it, Yuki was sprinting back to the mansion. "Ah, wait up!" Hanabusa called out, quickly sprinting after Yuki. Akatsuki sighed and started running too. Both of the vampires could have beaten Yuki when she was human, but now the playing field was evened out. In fact, Yuki was probably faster than they were, but she may not have realized it yet. Hanabusa eventually caught up to the princess and flashed her a grin. "You're gonna have to be faster than that!" he teased, though he was actually having fun, for the first time in a long time.

"Hm, I suppose you do have a point," Kaname replied. "I guess I just figured no one would really recognize Yuki from one short trip into town. Plus, I figured some fresh air would do Yuki and Aido some good. They tend to get a bit restless doing the same thing for too long. It's just in their nature," Kaname said with a knowing smile. He chuckled at Takuma's comment about dealing with all the vampires and problems. It was a lot to handle, that was very true. However, Kaname couldn't imagine his life any other way. "Well, I guess that's the kind of thing you deal with among any group of friends or family," he said. And you do it because you care about them… He didn't say that aloud, since that would probably make Takuma fear for the pureblood's health.

Yuki stopped when Aido had caught up to her. "Oh, I am? Hm... someone's got the energy to be a bit cheeky, doesn't he? Tell me, why do you feel the need to be that way, hm?" She flashed him a grin while checking her nails. "Darn, they're chipped." She chuckled to herself. "Well, I guess that's what I get when I'm not careful." For some reason, since becoming a vampire, Yuki's demeanor changed from a shy and quiet human to a somewhat jumpy and still very awkward, excited Pureblood vampire. "Well, we have to hurry and get back home! We can't invite people without sending these out!" She giggles and soon, she's at her front door, throwing it open. "I got 'em!" She waves the invitations around, then brings them to the table and sits down next to Takuma.

Takuma agreed with a smile. "Well, you just never know. I mean, she would have to pass by Cross Academy to get to the shop and...she'd have to get past Zero, right?" He didn't like the sound of that at all and he knew Kaname didn't either. Takuma felt much better when Akatsuki, Hanabusa and Yuki came back. "I've got them, Kaname." Yuki excitedly handed them over for Kaname to look at. "I didn't know how many you wanted, so I just grabbed what I could." She rubbed her hands together. "The snow won't let up, though. I hope people can make it."

"Well, yes…but the house isn't going anywhere!" Aido replied. He laughed a little at Yuki's enthusiasm. "You always seemed so stiff as a Guardian, who knew you were really like this?" Akatsuki entered the mansion not far behind the other two. He waved a hand uncaringly as he nearly announced their arrival but stopped as he heard Yuki say they got the invitations. Kaname thanked Akatsuki before the vampire went off in search of Ruka. Kaname turned to the other two and nodded. "Yes, I didn't think about the snow continuing into the following weeks," he admitted. "I also hope that's not the case. It would be such a shame if we had to postpone the party. Well, let's see the invitations you picked out, Yuki." Kaname looked curiously at the package, eager to see what sort of thing his lover decided on. "You, Ichijo, and I can address the invitations and I will tell you about each of the guests so you can learn a little about some of the people who will be attending." Kaname knew it must be difficult to get thrown into a whole new world and in such a high position where you were expected to be responsible for many different things. He only hoped that Yuki wouldn't get too overwhelmed by the duties, power, and knowledge the purebloods possessed.

Yuki growled when Aido called her stiff. "I'm not stiff. You just couldn't stick to the rules. I'm actually still upset with you about that." She hugged. "You completely disrespected my fath-" she paused. "Headmaster Cross. You aren't supposed to have human blood on school grounds and you completely ignored that." She bit her lip as she handed over the invitations. "I don't want to postpone. I'm tired of postponing everything. The truth, this party, that war, what's next? There are very few things that I want to postpone, and, if I stay away from him, I will postpone it." Yuki was then told about getting to learn about these families. "Okay! Let's get started!" She sat down at the table and looked at the list. "You forgot the headmaster, Takuma." She sighed. "Oh, well, he already knows you're back, so I thought it didn't really matter." When he saw the glare Yuki gave him, he quickly finished his sentence. "He also has to look after Zero and I doubt you wanted him to come, but I'll invite the headmaster if you think he'll be safe as the only human there." He quickly scribbled the name down. "Okay, now, let's get started. I hope you know what you're doing." "I do, Takuma." Yuki nodded.

"Yes, yes, I know. It's not like I want to postpone, either. Believe me, I'd love to have the most wonderful party in your honor," Kaname said. The vampire didn't respond when Yuki said she wanted the Headmaster to be invited. He assumed she would say so, even if he didn't think it was the best idea or believe that the man would even attend. Perhaps he would wish to see his adopted daughter again, but as Takuma said, there was Zero to look after. Zero Kiryu was definitely not on Kaname's intended guest list. And in all honesty, having that hunter here would be like begging for a disaster. Kaname frowned just thinking about it. "Well, it would be rude not to send an invitation to the Headmaster," he said. The man addressed an invitation and showed it to Yuki after Takuma had agreed to invite Headmaster Cross. "This is another pureblood family," Kaname explained. "It would also be rude not to invite the other pureblood families, since we sit in the same social class as they do, and there aren't very many of us left. Most pureblood families are rather small anyways," he explained.
