Fantasy Moonlight History [CLOSED]

Johnathan looked to his brother in surprise. He knew their pack had been powerful, but he hadn't realized they had been that powerful. Their history - well that specific history - was limited to a need to know basis. Until now, he hadn't needed to know. He had only needed to know what a Beta was supposed to do and be for his Alpha.

Wade sighed, "I take your surprise as, you didn't know. Not surprising. Father isn't exactly proud of that. " he stopped and looked at the woods "Shifters are powerful because they can take on any form and have that same power. They can become any one of us and be as strong as our wolf. I'm sure Kevin showed you how Julius died. His brother was one of the selected ones to get in there and kill as many shifters as they could while the rest of the pack attacked from the side and front. They knew that They would be killed because there was no way for us to tell them apart from the shifters. We still don't know if a shifter killed them or one of our own. Father's mission was to take out the snipers and scouts before they went in and he did.

Johnathan nodded, he had been shown Julius' death. It had been difficult to see, but now he could remember a little more from what he had been shown. That was another reason why the term shifter seemed so familiar. It had been mentioned in what Kevin had shown him. Talked about and feared. "He did except for one." Johnathan half said and half asked, bringing up what had been said just a few minutes earlier when they had been with their father. "You two mentioned bringing Julius back...how is that possible?" He asked with a faint frown.

Wade sighed, "It's not completely possible. We can switch her soul for another temporarily. It's an old ritual that Grandfather Garrett used a lot in meetings. Like father said, he had an odd attachment to her and normally Kevin was the conduit. From what I could tell from grandfather's notes, Kevin started to suspect such a thing shortly before Garrett stepped down as Alpha. The ritual requires the wolf to have a connect or trait of Julius and to be unaware. It's a dark ritual that most parents do to say good by to their children but it was restricted to only Alphas, to avoid abuse or mistakes. If you do it to the same person too many times, they will start to act like the soul that they trade with and in rare times are unable to return to their own bodies. Trapping both souls in death."

Johnathan frowned even more. “But if Kevin started to suspect, then there would t really be anyone else to do it would there? Or do they think doing it to Kevin is worth the risk?” He asked. Some of his anger showing through at the idea. He knew he had no place to judge that choice but still the idea upset him.

Wade smirked, "Kevin would be too risk now. They will probably use you. After all, Julius was beta, Kevin was beta, makes all the sense that it would be you grandfather uses now." His voice teased, as his face looked serious.

Johnathan narrowed his eyes. “They couldn’t now that I know about it.” He said in a ‘duh’ kind of tone. But he was still trying to decide if his brother was serious or not. ”Come on, we need to hurry to get things prepared.” He said, picking up his pace a little. “Do you think mom will be okay?” He added after a couple moments.

Wade smirked, "You know that's what I'm doing. I haven't even gotten to our grandparents yet." He said not really picking up his pace. He stopped shortly, "I mean, don't you want to know why they have never known we exist."

Johnathan opened his mouth to answer and then stopped. His answer was a snarky one and rather self-deprecating. He stopped and turned to face his brother, completely serious. For himself, he’d always half assumed it was because their father wasn’t proud enough of him to want to tell their grandfather. That he kept to himself though. “Well...yeah I guess so. Why do you think he never told them about us?” He asked.

Wade smirked, "I asked uncle War about that. Do you know what He said?" Wade smirked his all knowing smirk

Johnathan crossed his arms and flared at his brother. “Oh please, do waste time by keeping me in suspense.” He said dryly. He was dying of curiosity though. What did their uncle have to say about it? Why had their father never told their grandparents about them?

Wade smirked wider, "Mother. Grandfather was not a fan of mother. Not where she came from or her lack of a Killer instinct. He was sure that his father would return to train us both, his way if he ever got word that mother barred puppies." He sighed as he stepped close to Jonathan and patted his shoulder. "I hate to disappoint you brother, but not everything is about you."

Johnathan shrugged off his hand in annoyance. “I hate it when you do that.” He muttered. Alpha or not, Wade had always been good at reading him. “But why not tell him late? We need that training whether father likes it or not.” He added with a faint frown. He moved to keep walking, staying near Wade. “I’m worried about mother. I’m worried about something happening to her when she goes out with Keith.” He admitted. Perhaps he was a bit of a mama’s boy, but he didn’t care.

"Mother will be fine." Wade assured him, "Kevin won't let anything happen to her and according to grandfather's notes, he won't. He is the best tracker and somehow he perfected it to be able to tell a shifter from us and to use it in combat. Which I honestly don't believe, but Garrett was no liar." He sighed as he began to walk again. "But like I said, we should talk about our grandparents. They don't know we exist so just reaching Soph is not going to work. She'll kill us just as fast as Garrett will."

Johnathan sighed and shrugged. “I don’t know what to do about that.” He said. He looked to his brother. He was very nervous, but about being able to do his duty and protect his brother. “We could take some of father’s things so we smell like him. Though that’s probably just get us killed pretty quick too.” He offered. He shook his head and shrugged again. “I don’t know.” He sighed.

Wade looked at Jonathan as if he was stupid, "Seriously? We are father's sons we already smell lile him. Never mind. Sometimes I forget that brains aren't your best trait." He sighed then smirked slightly, "But I know who to ask. If he is still here. Aunt Lauren left, but he might be here."

Johnathan growled, about to correct him and explain what he really meant, but then stopped himself. There was no use to him even trying to say anything. So instead he just let out a deep sigh and gestured for Wade to lead the way. “Why do you bother asking me anything when you evidently seem to have all the answers.” He replied with a little more snark than he’d intended.

Wade smirked, "Curiousity. After all, I spend a lot less time with my head in a book then you. I have to make sure I know more about this pack then anyone or at least how to figure things out. I'm an alpha born after all and the only one that should best me is father." He chuckled as he lead the way to the arena.

Was that...almost a compliment? Pfft, Johnathan doubted it, if it was coming from his brother and directed to him. He could be smart, he did spend a lot of time with his head in books, but his mind didn't work like his brother's or his father's. Instead he often just felt stupid when he was with his brother. "Whatever. Who are we looking for anyway if not Lauren?" He asked, cocking his head to the side a little. He hated to admit that he did enjoy getting to see how his brother's mind worked.

Wade continued walking looking at his brother like he was slow, "You really aren't kidding. Are you seriously this slow are just dumb? I always thought it was a game you played to make mother favor you, but you really are this slow. Warren, uncle War, Lauren's twin. Father had to follow Garrett, but War was the mother's wolf of the family, Lauren spent her time proving she was worth existing to the alpha War wolf or she would be a lot more sane. But War is a jokester, he is obviously known for being protected by his mother, and that's the wolf we need to get us to be protected by. You know, I think those books are trying your brain." He stated as they got closer to the arena.

Johnathan held in his growl, held in his snarky remark and tried hard to reign in his temper. Except for he wanted to help, moments like these made him seriously considered giving up the role of beta so he could separate himself from his brother and father. "Seriously, you can keep some comments to yourself. Besides your the idiot who chose me as your beta." He snapped. Okay so he couldn't fully keep himself under control. He was trying though, Eric's words had stuck with him. "Let's just go track down Uncle Warren and get everything else we need in order so we can go find our grandparents." He said with a sigh, running a hand through his hair.

Wade smirked" I picked you for the guidelines of beta I was given." He stated before he sighed as they got to the arena, "Last I saw War, he was training with Alistair." He looked around and saw Alistair, "Come on. Alistair is over there we can ask him." He said moving to meet Alistair.

"You're still the idiot who chose me." Johnathan muttered under his breath as he followed Wade towards Alistair. He definitely did not see their uncle though and the wolf's scent was not strong enough to indicate he'd only just recently left. Johnathan glanced to Wade and then forward as they reached Alistair, he gave a small nod in greeting.

Wade glanced at his brother, "I could unchose you, if you want." He growled before they reach Alistair.

Alistair turned to the brothers with a smile, "alpha born and beta born. Didn't think they would let us have you after that whole grounding matter. But now isn't a good time for training. We are about to head out."

Wade shook his head, "Not here for training. We are looking for our uncle actually."

Alistair chuckled, "He was in the bullpen with Elric but don't think he will be happy to see you after that Aaron thing." He motioned to the private part of the arena that was fortified just for wolves like the alpha.

Wade grinned, "Thanks Alistair. Don't worry about that. I got a plan." He winked, "see you soon." He said as he walked over.

Johnathan gave him a teasing smile and then turned his attention forward. He listened quietly, not all that surprised at Alistair's words. He was curious about what plan Wade had though, he had a feeling he wasn't going to be fond of it, but who was he to argue as the beta? Ha! Of course he would probably argue, it was who he was.
He followed Wade to the bullpen where War was supposed to be.
