"Clay you'll be fine." She said and turned to kiss him softly. "I wouldn't have said yes If I knew my family wouldn't like you." She told him then kissed him again and walked to where her aunts and uncles were and they all smiled at her. "Ashley's home!" One of her uncles said and Ashley laughed softly. "Yeah yeah. Where's Jaime?" Ashley asked only to see her walking out with the food. "Well I'm right here. Now is this the fiancée?" She asked and Ashley nodded. "Yeah. Aunt Jaime this is Clay." Ashley said and Jaime looked at Clay. "Jaime Valentine. Pleasure to meet ya." She said and shook Clays hand.

 

[Lexus]

When Ashley kissed him he instantly released his tension and smiled with a nod. Following her to where the others we're he stood there with his hands in his pockets. Ashley fit in just fine here. However when he saw her aunt he froze for a moment, he didn't want to give her the wrong impression. He shook her hand with a smile, "Nice to meet you too." His voice was soft when he spoke.

"Oh come on boy. We ain't gunna hurt ya. Relax and let lose." Jaime told him as she smiled and then looked at Clay. "So what do y'all want to eat. Ya grand daddy made all kinds of food." She said and Ashley smiled. "I can serve ourselves Jaime thank ya." She said and then walked to the table with all the food and handed Clay a plate. "So, what do you want? We got chicken sausage, ribs, pork ribs. What do you want?" She asked him as she looked at Clay and smiled.

 

[Lexus]

(Clay is so out of his comfort zone xD )


Clay looked at her and forgot how to speak for a moment. He had never seen so much food in one place before. "I don't know, can I go hide like you did?" He asks with a laugh remembering how thy first met. It was sort of pathetic how nervous and uncomfortable he was around these people.

Ashley looked at her fiancée and laughed while shaking her head. "Absolutely not. I was six then. It doesn't count." Ashley told him as she smiled and began to get some food for herself. She didn't know what Clay would want. "Find anything appetizing?" She asked him.

 

[Lexus]

"It does so count." He says wrinkling her nose at her. He held up his hand, "I got it." He says with a laugh. "But as a side note, you should really practice remembering things about me." He says jokingly, if the tables were turned he could pick our everything she would want off the table.

Ashley just laughed and said, "I'm sorry I didn't spend 15 years in love with you and observing your every move." Ashley said as she stuck her tongue out then kissed him softly and went to go sit down inside. She was not fixing to sit outside. Inside with her was Brit and Jaime anyways.

 

[Lexus]

Clay just shook his head at her comment and followed her inside sitting with all the new people. They were every where. They all seemed nice though.

Ashley and Jaime were talking while Brit was talking to her too. Ashley eventually looked at Clay and smiled. "So Clay, I heard you were in the military." Brit said and Ashley eyed her cousin. She liked Clay, Ashley could tell. Nobody was taking him from her.

 

[Lexus]

Clay nodded. "Yes, I was." He says with a friendly smile. "It didn't end well for me though." He says shaking his head at the painful memory. He quickly glanced over to Ashley before turning Back to her cousin.

"I see. What happened that you came back so early?" She asked and Ashley held Clays hand in hers and gave it a light squeeze. She looked at Brit with a look and she knew Brit saw it.

 

[Lexus]

Clay preferred not to talk about it but since they didn't really know anything about him he was open to their questions. He answered simply. "Injury." Before returning the grip to Ashley's hand. Just the thought if it made the pain almost seem real again. He almost had the urge to wince.

Brit nodded and continued eatting and Jaime smiled. "Well you sure are a nice boy. I think you are perfect for my Ashley." She told him and Ashley smiled. "We will be right back okay." She told them and stood up then took Clay out towards the barn where it began to rain. She sighed and then looked at Clay. "Rain is always fun don't ya think?" She asked.

 

[Lexus]

"I guess." He says with a laugh as he was starting to get wet from the rain. "I take it you find it fun though since you dragged me out into it." He leaned down and kissed her cheek and smiled at her.

"I dragged you out here in it because you haven't been to the country if you haven't done this." She said and laid back in the mud that was forming and pulled Clay down with her. She laughed hard and made sure to put mud on his face.

 

[Lexus]

"Ashley!" He exclaims shocked at first out once he saw her just laying in it he couldn't help but laugh. Reaching over he did the same to her face and when their eyes met he pulled her into a kiss resting his hand on her cheek making an imprint of the mud. When he pulled away he laughed at it.

"No Clay don't!" She said as she felt the mud on her face and she laughed hard again. She closed her eyes as they kissed and when he pulled away she smiled and laughed again. She shook her head and then kissed him again.

 

[Lexus]

"See, I didn't do that had out there in the country. Though I did dress nice that day and your mom ruined those clothes." Clay let out a laugh. "The time we took you to meet the country folk was better though." He says pointing to Rylan.

Rylan and the twins laughed at their father. "Okay dad. Sure you didn't do bad." Allie said and laughed as Rylan thought of that day but he was to young to remember.

 

[Lexus]

Of course he was too young to remember he was only a couple months old so Clay went into telling the story.


"Love, you do realize bringing him here means you have to let other people near him, including your cousin." Clay says with a laugh grabbing Rylan's things and walking ahead of her inside. If course she was holding him in her arms protectively like always.

"I know that but that doesn't mean I have to let everyone hold him." Ashley said as she looked at her husband and smiled softly but walked in after her and Jaime was the first one to come and take Rylan out of her arms. Ashley smiled but she was very worried and protective of her baby.

 

[Lexus]

"He's fine." Clay whispers before turning to her aunt."Well, does this make me not important anymore?" Clay asks with a laugh hugging her as her eyes didn't leave the new baby. Clay noticed neither did Ashley's.

"You're still important to me." Brit said and walked over to hug Clay. Ashley's eyes peeled off of her baby for a brief moment as she looked at her cousin hug Clay. Ashley was becoming annoyed. She looked back over and watched as everyone held Rylan.

 

[Lexus]

"Awe thanks Brit." Clay says with a smile giving her a one armed hug and then he heard Rylan begin to fuss. He couldn't help but let out a laugh as Ashley instantly ran towards him and took him from her uncle's arms. It wasn't hard to see she was a mother.

"Gosh Ash, lighten up." Brit said and Ashley just looked at her and then went back to getting Rylan to calm down. She kissed his forehead and smiled when he fought his sleep. "Shhh, mommys right here. Sleep." She whispered to Rylan who yawned and slowly began to fall asleep. She smiled and heard Brit talking about her. "Gosh Ash, we are family ya know. We can handle a whining baby." She said and Ashley sighed.
