Magic For Sale

His hand, which had reached for one of the plates, jerked back before touching them. Ymir stood from his seat at the mention of seeing them. "Adel... now you've got a partner they shouldn't try anything." So yes, he could finally see the healthy ones around their home. "Follow me... I'll lead you there." Turning around he began walking, and Adel excitedly walked over to him. Well, as excited as he could be without trying horribly hard to forget that this was his first time. They went down the hall, to the right... and out the door into the back, revealing a mountain-like hill and forest behind it.

Adenyyd couldn't hold herself back as she saw the area designated for dragons. Her own Dragon lunged forth and she erupted in a sea of wings and scales, shifting on the spot. When at last she stood in her Dragon form, she surveyed the area once more and roared, a proud and mighty roar that rebounded off the mountain.

Dragons arose at her call, some curious while others angry. Who dared call them from their homes? Flapping her own massive wings, Adenyyd took to the skies as well, wheeling around above Ymir and Adel. Finally remembering her partner amidst all the excitement, she swooped down and picked him up in her claws, cradling him gently so he wouldn't fall. And together they flew.

Adel looked up at her with pure wonder.... and then slightly freaked out when he was picked up, wiggling in surprise before the scene caught up with him. What was it about her form, even these other dragons didn't affect him like looking at her did, and yet he found himself staring each time she returned to this form? Once he'd calmed down enough he rested his arms on her talons, looking down with his mouth open and looking at the smaller dragons that couldn't rise high enough, the great ones that flew over, and the flexible ones that circled her from time to time... any arrogance he'd had was safely forgotten for the time, left behind in wonder at a world he was only beginning to be a part of.

Dancing with her brothers and sisters in the sky, Adenyyd couldn't help but feel her spirit lifting. As much as she was human, she was also Dragon and now she felt like singing. Barely managing to restrain herself, she glided down to the ground, letting her partner st and up gently before landing next to him. She made an inquisitive sound to the other dragons and s few landed by her, apparently having chosen to speak to her.

Adenyyd was delighted when the first Dragon, seemingly an earth Dragon, spoke in Dragon tongue. "Well met, child." He spoke in a deep voice. She felt as young as a hatchling when she replied. "I-Its a pleasure." She replied, hesitating at first but quickly getting back into the hang of it.

Adel, still in her talons, winced a bit... the dragon tongue. That was his first time hearing it... was it such an amazing thing? He felt the words in his mind itself, but couldn't quite understand it... and decided to just let himself listen in. Who knows, maybe he'd somehow get a hint of it? He didn't notice Ymir and Daichi standing halfway back to the house, watching the scene with almost surprised eyes. Tsukino, his brother, watched from behind a closed window, also interested in what was going on, but taking a more casual view of it.

The earth Dragon huffed at her, although it was good natured. "Your Dragon tongue is terrible, child. Your Brood Mother should be scolded." Adenyyd looked down and shuffled slightly. "I had no Brood Mother, sir... I'm only a half-blood, you see." She spoke morosely. Was the earth Dragon going to condemn her for her birth?

She almost started when she heard him speak once more."Blood doesn't matter, child. You are who you are and your partner understands that. It is the nature of the bond." Adenyyd looked up, startled. "The bond? But-" Her words were cut off as the earth Dragon left, a small brush of his wing against hers as he took off into the sky.

A female Dragon stepped up to take his place, a much less formal greeting. A bump of noses and the female was already babbling. "Its so great to have another female Dragon bonded here! There aren't many you know."

Adel nearly jumped, that was... oh well. At least this one seemed to be fiendly. Which was something he was oddly glad for... he wanted Adenyyd to have friends. Even if they were only Dragons, and not human... because he wasn't sure if humans would want to be her friend. He hoped they would, and listened with the intent of... well, getting so that their voices didn't hurt his ears anymore, because he knew he wouldn't be able to talk to them or understand it. They could talk to him, but obviously they wanted to do so with his partner.

"The bond? Please tell me more about it. My partner told me all he could, but..." Adenyyd said quickly, trailing off at the end. She glanced down at Adel, cradled carefully in her Talon's, but looked up at the other Dragon gave her a sympathetic look (as much as a Dragon can look sympathetic, anyway) and began to speak.

"The bonding is deep. It goes much farther than the human knows." The Dragon leaned in closer and Adenyyd held her breath slightly. "It is a soul bond. We are permenantly linked with our partners, a bond that surpasses everything we know." She couldn't hold back a gasp. She didn't realize that the bond was so strong or deep. The female Dragon smiled at her and once more bumped her nose gently. "You are both the better for it. Fear not, little one." And she was off.

Adel watched the other one go, somehow taking pride in the fact that his partner was more beautiful than that one. Though she was wonderful as well. He let his head rest on her talons, waiting patiently for her to decide she's had enough. Normally he wasn't, but somehow he had a feeling that this was really important to her, and if there was one thing he would always know... it's that he'd try his best to let those important to him have what they feel they need.

Shaking her head, Adenyyd had to make the mental switch between Dragon and human before she looked down at Adel and spoke. "Would you like to go back now, or would you like to fly some more?" She asked, the melodious voice emerging from her muzzle.

Suddenly remembering something, she huffed slightly. "You did say we were going to have a tour of the mansion, not to mention start training our power together." She reminded him.

"Right." Even that one word, covered with a business-like tone, had a deep layer of awe in it. "I... uhh, I can wait until you're tired, though. I don't mind." It had been amazing, after the fear of being dragged into the sky. He could understand why some people were obsessed with flying magic now. "I mean... of course we have to do it, and such, but... you seemed so happy, I kinda... don't want to cut it short, though you can come out here anytime and talk with them." As long as they were at the mansion, anyway.

Adenyyd huffed happily and shook her head. "No, it's okay. We can come back later. Would you like to keep me in Dragon form or human?" She asked, leaving the decision up to him. He was her partner and she could not fly without him.

Shaking her head, she glanced around them in search of Ymir. "Where did he go? Leaving us all alone, how rude." She muttered to herself in a half-growl, rising up slightly to see better. Finally she spotted him next to another dragon, lumbering over to stand next to them. "Probably got it from Tsukino." She continued to grumble.

Adel snickered, "He's the smart one. Lots of magical experiments I don't understand at all..." A shrug. It was still rude, but Adel hadn't ever been bothered by that. "I suggest you tell him yourself when the time comes." And that was Daichi. What was Daichi doing walking over that slow? Or was that fast and they were just that far away? he shook his head, "If I keep wondering about it I'm going to break my head..." Self deprecating, he knew, but it was normal for him. Arrogant as he was... he was never like Tsukino or Ymir, who were brave and smart... he was just strong.

Adenyyd looked down at her partner in shock. She would never have thought to hear such a thing from him. That sounded like something she would say... Shaking those thoughts from her head, she took to the air and flew towards Ymir and the other Dragon to save time. Landing next to them, she glanced at Ymir, then placed Adel next to him and turned her attention to the Dragon.

Clearing her throat and switching to Dragon tongue, she smiled. "My name is Adenyyd Desgleirio, or Shining Wings. Its nice to meet you." She introduced herself politely.

"Daichi Shugosha, or Earth Guardian." His voice was deep, but the kind that suggested he was young, and still not sure of himself. Or that he was sure of himself, but not of everyone else. It seemed to remind one of the rumbling of rocks, or of an earthquake... certainly it shook the ground beneath him, where Adel and Ymir were standing. "A pleasure to meet you as well." The dragon stood apart, but seemed friendly enough, if a bit too formal.

"So... how're the overly-complicated mega-experiments going? Make any new potions?" Adel said, gripping his brother around the shoulders good-naturedly. He wouldn't ask for any details... but he knew his brother would go off on a spie-

"We're close. I might be able to cure Aredenn Fever soon enough. The problem is the drain on magical apparatus when the Engerial doses are beginning to take effect, leading to overall magical draining and a lack of peripheral activity, such as the sense one has of magical stimuli. I'm thinking that an extra bit or Rosemary might balance out the Colts' foot, thus preventing said draining through the alchemica-"

"Wow.... too much information. I just wanted to know if you were getting close." Yep. Ymir was Ymir, and nothing would change that. His brother had the grace to blush and look down, only for Adel to muss said brother's hair with a goofy grin on his face. "Ah come on, you know I'm useless at that kinda thing. Point me at a target, and I'm free to do that kinda stuff, though."

Distracted by the human conversation, Adenyyd looked down at the pair of brothers and frowned slightly. "You use Rosemary to counteract Colt's Foot? I've found Sage to work much better in alchemical works." She commented, then ducked her head sheepishly. "Uh- you don't have to listen to me..."

Quickly she shuffled over next to Daichi and hid behind him, as much as she could. Of course it didn't quite work, but it was an admirable effort. She really didn't want to be stared at for the weird things she did in her alchemy. The few other practioners she had met thought her silly.

"Sage?" His hand moved to hold his chin, supported by the other hand in a classic thinking pose. "With the calming properties of Sage mixing with.... that might work! Adenyyd, you're a genius!" And with that he was running off, heading for his labs in flapping brown cloak and hair. Adel just stared off at him... uncomprehending of the entire conversation there.

"Ahh... now you've done it. He'll be in there all day now." A small chuckle from the dragon-tongue speaking Daichi, sounding oddly good natured about it. "You can stop hiding behind me, you know. He's not going to laugh at you." Adel just scratched his head, confused as to what was going on.

Adenyyd huffed and unhid herself, pretending (in true cat fashion) that absolutely nothing had happened. "Well hopefully he won't forget to eat because I won't remind him." She replied to Daichi, huffing once more before again picking up Adel in her talons. A push of her legs, a flap of her wings, and they were airborne.

Soaring back towards the mansion, Adenyyd glanced down at her partner, cradled securely in her claws. Doubts tried to fill her mind but she pushed them away. Letting out a growl of frustration, she pumped her wings, shooting forward. Going so fast she was just a blur, she dived towards the ground. At the last second before they hit, she braked and landed gently. Her wings were aching but her mind was clear. Shifting back into her human form, she glanced towards Adel, wirelessly waiting for his instructions.

He let out a whoop as they flew in the air, and an exuberant shout when they dove... he was an Adrenaline junkie, he knew, but it was just so awesome! And as she returned to her human form he let out a calming breath. "Right... first the tour, then lunch... I can make it this time, if you want, and then we'll start with our powers." He should have guided her around the night before, but he hadn't thought of it beforehand.

Adenyyd shook her head and smiled weakly at Adel. "Its okay, I can cook. Just lead the way." She fell silent, not wanting to speak more about the emotions whirling inside of her. She wasn't sure if it was the words the dragons had spoken to her or her own secret hopes but...

And yet her doubts surfaced and now she was hopelessly fighting herself for the right to dream, daring to hope, for something she never thought she would have. A partner.

He nodded, "If you're sure." A small shrug, and then he started walking forwards. "As you can tell this is the dragon's reserve, we've got two other mansions that serve the same purpose in this country, and a few others out. Our only job is to protect these, but me and Tsukino take charge of it while Ymir is in charge of funding and all the smart stuff. Like potions and such... he's actually cured a few magical diseases that effect humans and humanoid people, but he's having trouble with the ones that are more animalistic in nature. Down the hall is the kitchen, and up the floors are more rooms, libraries, and the third floor is for Ymir's experiments." As he said that he headed to a set of stairs, pointing as he spoke.

"I suppose that means I can help with the animalistic ones." Adenyyd noted halfheartedly as she trailed along behind Adel, her thoughts still trained upon her emotions. If she was going to be a good partner for Adel, she needed to fix her problems. But she didn't want to bother anyone else with them. So that meant she was stuck with them. Heaving a sigh, she shook her head and followed after Adel.

"Where's Tsukino?" She asked randomly, saying the first thing that came to her mind to distract from her emotions. "I figured you would want to tell him that you have a partner now. Not to mention that I still owe him for being rude to me." She frowned, just remembering the incident in question. "We need to show him our strength, Adel."

He stopped mid-step... nearly falling backwards but catching the banister before that could happen. "Show Tsukino? Well... we can try, but I'm not sure how... Tsukino handles all of the abroad mansions and reserves, and spends his "Spare" time trying to hunt all of the magic poachers. That.. means the people who capture magical creatures and items for money. Magic may be underground, but most of the larger corporations still adhere to the school of thought that if it can speak it's sentient, and thus on the same level or higher than humans. How you can prove that strength... I'm not sure of, but if we can defeat 'them' then it might be a good start."

Ah. He didn't think she was strong enough. It's okay. It's not like he knew what she was. She would show him. Somehow.... "I see." She murmured in response to his words, dropping her gaze to the ground. "When you deem us ready, then we may go and destroy them."

Maybe she just shouldn't talk. Speak only when spoken to. Do nothing with out permission. Act like the slave she so recently was. Still was, if you want to be specific. At least that way she couldn't do something wrong. She wanted to make Adel proud of her. She wanted to be the best partner he could ever hope for. But she doubted. Adenyyd knew she wasn't good enough.

"Anyway, the fourth floor has Tsukino's gyms and practice areas, and the fifth is supposed to be mine. That's the towers, buy the way... four main floors and then two or three towers. I can use them for anything... but really nothing's come to mind. Is there anything you want to do with them? At least one of them's big enough for you to practice landing... I think. Only been there once." When in doubt... change the subject! It might be rude, but it's better than getting depressed.
