Magic For Sale

Adel started when she looked at him, he'd forgotten about the chains. "Right, sure." Out came the key, he grabbed her hands gently, not wanting to hurt her. Not that he thought he could, of course, but... well. With Ymir right there he wasn't about to do anything that might hurt her. The chains gave an audible click as they came off, the spell fizzling into dormancy. To his brother he almost smugly said "And you think ignoring the slave trade will end it? Yeah right. At least they're not hunting dragons anymore." That they both shuddered at... it was sick.

For a moment she was frozen as all her power came rushing back. It was almost too much... And then they mentioned dragons. With a roar, her Dragon was free.

Wings tore out of her back, a tail whipped out behind her. She grew quickly, falling onto all fours as her face lengthened into a muzzle. Claws sank into the dirt as scales covered her body. And in almost the blink of an eye, there stood a midnight dark Dragon.

Adel and Ymir both stared up at the midnight black dragon. Ymir with a slight hint of apprehension, Adel with open admiration. The only dragons the younger twin had actually managed to see were young, scrawny, or were his brothers' partners. So a dragon like this, free and strong... was a wonderful sight to him. Ymir, perhaps wisely, scurried into the castle, which had been designed to withstand rampaging dragons before.

One unblinking green eye watched Ymir hurry back to the safety of the castle before the Dragon turned her considerable onto her master. With a rattle of shifting scales, she slowly sank to the ground before Adel, laying her head upon the ground. "She, who is called Shining Wings, bows her head to you." A surprisingly melodic and silky voice emerged from her snout, a small puff of smoke escaping as well.

Rising to her feet once more, the Dragon looked down at Adel and smiled, if such a creature could be said to smile. "Let me show you what you have gained, Master." And throwing her head back, she released a burst of crackling black flame.

Indeed, he was overjoyed to see her so large, proud, and... alive. Adel didn't know if she was his partner, it was the first time one hadn't snapped at him irritably, but... his entire family was obsessed with dragons in one way or another. Ymir was convinced that non-partnered dragons would attempt to kill him one day, Tsukino that they were sources of all magical knowledge, and Adel himself just thought they were beautiful creatures. In fact, he even managed to, despite the incredible heat around him, say so without meaning to. "Beautiful..." A small gasp, yes...

She couldn't help but preen as she heard his gasped words, her wings stretching out slightly to catch the light. Cutting off the flame, she glanced back down at Adel. "As much as I would like to fly, I wish to know if I am your Dragon partner." And with those words she closed her eyes and slowly returned to her human state.

This time her clothes were even more ragged, doing nothing to cover up the large Dragon tattoo that spread over her back. Even as she crouched there, it glowed and crawled over her body to settle in a new place, fire bathing her belly while the wings stretched out all the way to her neck. The tail wrapped around her back and she stood up, glancing back at Adel. Her eyes were sparkling now and it had nothing to do with magic. "Well then, Master, shall we continue?" She spoke in that same melodic voice.

He had the grace to blush, and opened the door for her, one hand still holding the cuffs. He'd have to be careful... if they ended up on him it might prove disastrous. "I can set things up, but Ymir's going to have to perform the spell. Since we're both being tested, anyway. I'll be on one side, you on the other, and the drawn magic circle will glow brightly and fade if you're my partner. Not very exciting, but... well, it's safer than the old method." Which had entailed the two going out on a mission where often the human was eaten if they failed. Why was magic so bloody in the past?

Her walk was now more of a glide as the release of her Dragon side had restored her to her previous grace. Now her hair also fell straight and healthy, with a sheen not unlike her scales. Her head held high, she was as much Dragon as she was human. Entering the mansion, she only took a few steps in before turning and waiting for Adel. She didn't know where to go, after all.

"And if I am not your Dragon partner? What then?" She had to ask, unable to continue forward without knowing the risks of what she was about to undertake. "And speaking of, what does being your Dragon partner actually mean?" That had never actually been explained to her.

"Then we figure something out for you. I'm not going to kick you out only to be preyed on by someone else." For just a second he looked hard, everything about him seeming to suggest frozen lava for just that one moment, before it faded to his normal expression. No, he'd not let her suffer like that, if he could help it. "As for Dragon Partner... our family made a pact with a clan of Dragons long ago. Each member of our family would be bound to a being of Dragon Blood, and that being would be the key to using their true power. It was a pact meant to make us protect dragonkind, in exchange for power, and so we have. Unfortunately... lately people like me, who have trouble using magic without their partners, have started to be born in it. For me... a partner is essential to any higher-level spells. I have power, but I can only use simple ones, like fireball."

Adenydd could only nod in sympathy. So he was like her... Unable to access his true power without the one other being in the world who could truly resonate with him... Now she was even more sure that they were fated to be together. Two people bound by Dragon magic, pushed together by fate, needing only each other to unlock their true potential... It was almost too good to be true.

Looking back into the house, she noticed Ymir walking towards them, having gotten over his obvious fear of her Dragon form. "I wish to know if Adel is my Dragon partner." She spoke to him before he could say a word. "Would you kindly test us?" And here she smiled charmingly at him.

(You can control Ymir again now, if you want. I just wanted to show you some of his personality first.)

A nod, jerky but still seeming to be calm. "Right, let's get to it then." A point, Adel moved to the circle that was symbolic of the sun, and Ymir pointed to the other circle, meant to represent the moon. The whole circle resembled an eight-pointed star encircled, with lots of runes all around it. "Adel. For the record: I am completely against you buying a slave for the sake fo finding your partner." Adel smirked at him, but said nothing. A sight, "Right then. We're starting it now." A book opened in his hands, and he began to say the intonation.

(I only use him when I need to end the conversation between Adenydd and Aden, so you can have him.)

Obediantly moving to the circle pointed out to her, Adenyyd had to gasp as the moment Ymir began to speak, power rose. It was Dragon magic, swirling from circle to circle, rune to rune, making the very air thick and heady. Her Dragon tattoo began to glow, and Adenyyd was beginning to grow light headed. There was so much magic, flowing everywhere...

The spell was completed with a flash of light, the whole circle glowing bright before fading to it's original color. Adenyyd was unable to process the meaning of this as her eyes closed and she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Adel frowned... but went down to help her up. The spell? She was his partner? THat's what that meant, right? No, now wasn't the time for that. "Ymir, do we have a free bedroom?" Down, scooping her up, that was heavier than he'd expected, but still light, and up she went. Down the hall, away from the circle. As much as he wanted the confirmation, Adenyyd was more important. She didn't deserve to suffer so he could figure out his true position...

"Yeah, down the hall to the right third door." Ymir stared at the runes. That had been a lot more power than he'd anticipated... indeed, more than should have been there at all. Adel, even partnered, shouldn't be that strong. So the magic... had that come from Adenyyd? But how... to keep the trapped power from affecting anything he broke the circle, smudging the chalk with his foot.

Adenyyd awoke soon after she had been placed into the bed, her eyes blinking open. It took a few seconds for her to focus but then she sat up immediately, not recognizing the place she was in. She breathed in, readying a spell, only to relax as she saw Adel there.

"What was the result of the spell?" She asked quietly, getting up and stretching out her muscles. The residual magic from the spell still lingered in her, making her tattoo glow faintly. Frowning down at it, she arranged her clothing to cover it as much as she could.

"It was a success, so we're... partners. You can stay here." He'd promised that anyway, but he meant she could stay in this room. Away from anyone else if she wanted, or she could explore the house. Actually... "I.. I mean you're my partner, so my home is yours, and... uhh, you can like... do whatever you want to make you're room comfortable. Or a new room. A-any room you want." Oh dear, he was starting to ramble, and had grown steadily redder as he continued, not sure how to talk to her now.

"I can pick... any room I wish?" She spoke, a seductive grin curving her lips. Moving closer to him, she placed a hand on his arm and let some of her clothing droop. "Even... yours?" She whispered, leaning in close to him. "After all, we are partners now..."

Inwardly Adenyyd was laughing hysterically at the look on Adel's face. He was blushing beet red and stumbling over his words. After being alone for so long and then captured, it was nice to know that she could still act human when she wished.

He nearly jumped away from her, but instead tried to fix her dress, because that couldn't be comfortable and ohdearthatwasaviewofsomeofher- Inward slap to himself, a gulp, looking upward to her eyes and not her torso. "I-if you w-w-want to. Y-you can also have s-some clothes. I think we have some for women your size, I-I can check?" Please let her say go. He wasn't used to women acting like this. And frankly he wasn't sure he liked it... he preferred when they ignored him. Meant he was doing his job and they theirs.... Ymir, where are you when I need you? SAVE ME! H-how do I act around women when they're... what is this? Umm...

Chuckling softly, Adenyyd stepped back and nodded, allowing Adel to escape. A smile still on her lips, she closed her eyes and basked in the knowledge that she could affect him that way. It made her feel glorious, powerful.

Speaking of power... She glanced down at her tattoo, it had finally stopped glowing and she traced it with a finger. Her Dragon stirred in response and she quickly stopped, not wanting to shift inside the castle and destroy it. She could definitely feel the difference in her Dragon after the ritual, stronger and more eager with the appearance of her partner.

He took the chance to calmly leave the room... and then run down the hall. There were dresses, shirts, pants... Tsukino's girlfriends often left clothing here. At first it'd annoyed Adel and Ymir.... now he was grateful that they'd been kept. Let's see... what to grab for her? Did she need a bra? STOP BLUSHING! You've seen a woman naked once! Traitorously he reminded himself that it was his brother's girlfriend who had gotten out of a shower that'd revealed it to her. And that was enough to make him want to punch himself, so he just hurried with getting the clothing and returning to Adenyyd. He shoved the ball of clothes at her, a T and Jeans, and almost muttered at her to punch him, but no.

Adenyyd turned to face the door as Adel burst in. He shoved a ball of clothes towards her and she raised an eyebrow at him, almost expecting him to say something while stuttering acutely as he had before. When he stayed silent, she turned her attention to the clothes themselves.

Casual and plain. A t-shirt and some jeans. Well, it would do for now. "Are you going to stand there and watch me?" She asked Adel, her voice cool and just a tinge amused as she slowly raised her hands up to her shirt. "I'm taking it off now, are you sure you're staying?"

Face now resembling his hair he nearly shouted out "N-no!" The door closed behind him, his form sliding down and curling up. He just had to be partnered with a woman. A tiny groan, I'm so dead. If Ymir doesn't kill me, Tsukino will with his teasing. Or Adenyyd will with her... whatever that is! Not that it was all bad, he just... how did people react when women said stuff like that? Was he supposed to say it back or something? No, that wasn't it.

Stripping quickly, Adenyyd got dressed without delay... but found herself pausing before exiting the room. While she had enjoyed teasing Adel, she couldn't do that forever. And once She stopped, how was she supposed to act around him? They we're more then just master and slave now, But she still wasn't sure what a Dragon partner really was.

Sighing, she opened the door and nearly tripped over Adel as he lay on the ground. "Are you alright?" She asked, a bit concerned. Had her teasing gone too far? She didn't want to cripple her Dragon partner before they even flew together.

His head shot up, looking from side to side and then up... only to see her in the doorway. "Y-yeah, I'm fine." Scrambling to his feet he made sure not to touch her in any way, nearly clamping the chains onto him, but no. he avoided it by closing them on themselves, so no-one else would be stuck in them. A few rapid steps so he's out of her way, looking to the floor with his head still red from earlier he mumbled a quiet "S-sorry. About earlier."

"Nothing to be sorry about." Adenyyd brushed off his apology, stepping out of the room fully and closing the door behind her. Glancing down at the ground, she shuffled a bit as she tried to think of what to say next. "Um..." She flushed lightly.

Thankfully her stomach broke the silence as it rumbled loudly. "Ah... I think I may be hungry." She said, apologetic. "If it is possible, may I have something to eat before we speak more about our partnership?"

Food. Familiar ground at last. As soon as she wasn't going about teasing him he smiled, "This way, Adenyyd. I'll make us something to eat." Was it lunchtime? No, dinner. So, something filling but fast. With fire! He loved fire. No, now wasn't the time to tal- think about fire. He was halfway down the hall already, not even realizing that he was possibly leaving Adenyyd behind. Because he wasn't dealing with a woman acting weird, but a person doing regular things that people do. Like needing food.
