Magic For Sale

Shaking her head, Adenyyd smirked but followed after Adel, needing him to direct her to the kitchen. Once there, however, she could cook a meal for both of them. She had spent many years learning how to cook, why not show off a little?

Once they reached the kitchen, she skipped ahead of Adel and turned to face him. "I want to cook." She said firmly, placing her full attention upon him. She would not let herself be swayed.

He blinked... she wanted to cook? A nod, if she wanted to do that then she was free to. "R-right... I'll set up the table for yo-" His stomach grumbled as well, hand going down to meet it. Two seconds, then "for US to eat. If you don't mind making enough for two." It wasn't a bad thing, if she wanted to cook. He was ok, but they were men... and thus lacked talent. Well, aside from Ymir and potions or herbs.

A sharp nod and then Adenyyd turned to the kitchen, surveying the tools she had laid out for her. Now that she was in cooking mode, She was all business. Any distractions would result in some chopped off fingers from the large knife she was currently wielding to chop up vegetables. She used it like a pro, finishing each vegetable within seconds.

It took her only a few minutes to make the beginnings of a stir fry, a simple and filling meal that only took a few minutes to cook. Her choice of meat in this case was chicken, before she tossed it all into a skillet and placed that on top of the burner. It wasn't long before the smell of deliciously cooked food filled the air and she was dividing the portion into two plates.

The wonderful smell of food nearly led him to drop the silverware, so hungry he was. He didn't, but Adel barely managed to keep the offending objects in his hands. And he hurried to set up the forks, knives because just-in-case, and spoons again just in case. Then napkins for the two of them. Once that was finished he stood to the side, ready to help her carry in their plates. Another protest from his stomach, him studiously ignoring it by staring at a wall for a while, and then he commented, almost timidly, "I-It's... it smells really good."

Adenyyd grinned proudly. "Thank you." She said as she placed the plates on the table before sitting down. Unable to resist the temptation of the wonderful smelling food, she dug in quickly and almost groaned. She had forgotten what cooked food tasted like.

Finished her food with an almost unwordly speed, she sat back and gave a satisfied smile. Now that she ate, she could sleep. How long has it been since she had a full nights sleep? Sighing, she forced herself to stay awake and look at Adel. "So what now?" She asked simply.

Adel ate fast too, seeming to shovel the food into him. He hadn't eaten as fast as Adenyyd, but he did finish relatively quickly. Just a bit behind her, and to answer her question... "For now? We got to bed. I'm sure we'll have a lot of work to go about starting tomorrow. Learning to use our newly awoken and expanded powers, working for Tsukino... and dealing with that group." This last part was growled out, a hint of anger in his tone. THEY would pay, he was certain.

Frowning, Adenyyd nodded and got up slowly, clearing away both of their plates before heading to the door. Pausing, she frowned harder and and turned back to Adel. "Do I go to the same room I woke up in?"

She wasn't sure she knew the way, and besides, she wasn't sure if she was allowed to take that room. Putting aside her teasing, Adenyyd wasn't sure if what Adel had been saying was really true or if he was just babbling.

"Of course you can have that room." Right away his tone returned to normal. What had made her feel... well, had made her frown. "O-or any other, I'm sure." Not that he expected her to actually want to be in his room, and to save himself another fit of not being right he moved on "I-I can guide you around the mansion real quick, so you can pick your favorite. Or we can do it tomorrow, I'm sure... w-whenever you want to do it."

Shaking her head, she sighed and turned away. "No, I don't need another room. The tour would be welcome though. Perhaps tomorrow." Without waiting for an answer, she headed through the halls, tracing the scent of her magic back to the place where she had awoken.

It was all starting to sink in now. She knew nothing about this man, and yet she was partnered with him. He made her Dragon stronger. He wielded his own Dragon magic. Both of their power levels had increased. She had no knowledge of what was going on. She didn't know what to do. Never before had she felt so lost, at least since she was a hatching. Shaking her head once more, she fell upon the bed and was instantly asleep.

Adel shrugged... sure, she was a slave, but she was still a person. He'd let her do what she wanted. Taking their dishes he set about cleaning everything up. For a second he questioned why he'd chosen the room next to his own, but no... now wasn't the time for that. Instead he began working steadily on the chore set in front of him, that he himself had chose, and shrugged. Ten minutes later he walked out to the hall...only for Ymir to stand in front of him. "I assume you're happy now? She's your partner and all." The brunette asked, sounding severely put out.

"I am, in fact." Well, only partially. It was starting to dawn on him... he had a partner that hadn't been raised next to him, and was the first with a half-dragon for said partner. As wonderful as it was... he found himself worried about it. Because what if they didn't get along? "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to get to bed." Since they'd be starting early tomorrow, he was certain of that.

Awakening from her slumber, it took Adenyyd a second to remember that she wasn't under attack. Nothing was on fire and she was not bleeding. Sighing softly, she got up and wandered to the window, gazing upon the moon high in the sky. She wasn't getting back to sleep tonight.

She hated her nightmares. They came often, and almost every night she was particularly stressed or upset. It must be the partner thing. She didn't know how Adel was going to act, but Adenyyd knew that she was going to be the best partner she could be. Because she knew what happened to dragons when they lost their partner.

Adenyyd stayed awake for hours, not sure of what the time was exactly, but making due with the Sun. Allowing herself to leave her room at dawn, she headed to the kitchen to make breakfast. She knew that herself and Adel were eating, but she also made some food for Ymir as well just in case.

Into the room came an albino wearing black and gold and red, eyes resembling what people would expect from a vampire... even though he was walking about freely in the sunlight. A yawn, stretch, his hair is messy as though he'd not bothered brushing it, but the rest of his clothing is meticulously in place. A yawn, him looking at the girl, then moving to the fridge to grab some milk. "So... one of my brothers finally got a girl, eh? Never thought it'd happen." A pause, his deep voice seeming to rumble from his chest, and then... "It's gotta be Ymir. Adel couldn't get anyone t'look at him with that attitude of his. Hey, let me know if you get tired of those kids. I got time, seein as my last girl's goin on a cruise for a month or so." A drink of the milk, right from the carton, and it went back in there, still open.

Adenyyd chose not to respond, simply hiding her face with her hair. Moving to the refrigerator, she closed the milk carton and placed it back in it's proper spot before returning to the stove where she flipped the pancakes she was making and checked on the bacon. Making sure that nothing was burned, she continued to cook, staying utterly silent.

This had to be Tsukino, the eldest of the three brothers. He had referred to Ymir and Adel as his brothers, and they had mentioned his name in passing. However, not only did he seem unaware of her identity, but he also seemed to be unmannered and a bit rude.

A confident smirk... she was a good one, calm enough to deal with either of his brothers' problems. "Righ... I'll leave you to whatever you're doing. I been working all night... gosh I need a nap." Out the door, down the hall to his own room... and in came Ymir. The look on his face... it was like Ymir was terrified of something. Cackling down the hall suggested there was something to that expression, as well as what might have been an unfinished tear in his cloak.

"Morning, Adenyyd." A tiny scowl... she was still a slave and he wasn't happy about it, but then it quickly resolved into a warm smile. "Do you need help with anything? I'm... admittedly not very good, but I can chop things if you want." Out the window a brown and green dragon twice the size of a regular house went by, stubby legs and slightly-small wings identifying it as one of the earth tribes.

"Good morning, Ymir." Adenyyd said pleasantly, smiling at him. "No, I don't need any help, I was just finishing up actually." She slid three pancakes onto each plate, added a few slices of bacon, and carried the three plates to the table. "Please, eat." She urged Ymir as she motioned him towards one of the plates.

Clearing up her workspace, she commented idly. "Your brother Tsukino doesn't seem to be very mannered. At the very least he spoke rather rudely to me." Lifting her head fast enough to catch a glimpse of the earth Dragon lumbering outside, her expression changed from serious to absolutely delighted. "Oh, and earth Dragon!" She breathed. "Can I go meet them?"

"He... enjoys messing with people. And really has no respect for anyone not in the family. But he's "exotic" and "brave", going out to deal with magic poachers and the like. I suppose... you won't understand unless I explain." A breath, him stopping long enough to take a few bites of the breakfast. "We're the Night family. Hundreds of years ago we made a pact with the Dragons that we'd serve as protectors of them... though we weren't always successful. In exchange we were given a partner and use of Dragon Magic. It wasn't until later that we discovered we were... more than magically bound to our partners, though I'm not sure how a half-dragon will be affected by the bond."

"The family used to be rather large, but the eldest son of the main family was always bonded with a celestial element dragon. Tsukino's is... blood. We're not sure what effect his dragon partner's having on him, but he's... confident, almost arrogant except he has the skills for it, wise, loyal to family, and incredibly self assured. If it's worth having he'll have it."

She changed from absolutely delighted to completely enraptured. "A celestial blood Dragon?" She sat down heavily in a chair. "Oh, how I would love to meet them..." She said wistfully, sighing and staring out the window. Shaking her head quickly to get rid of thoughts about the dragons, she turned back to Ymir, now serious.

"I have no problem with people being confident or even slightly arrogant. Everything else you've listed seems to be an attribute worth having. So you consider Tsukino to be a good man." Frowning in thought, she leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes. To have such a rare Dragon at your command... Yes, she could see how that would make someone act like Tsukino. But that didn't mean he was entitled to be rude.

"I'll simply have to show him what Adel and I can do." She said simply, beginning to eat her breakfast. "Then perhaps he'll be a little less rude and a bit more humble."

Ymir shrugged.... "Good luck. He's the strongest of the three of us, though Adel and you might have him beat in raw power." That had been a freakish amount after all... no, now wasn't the time to start on that. To stop himself from further digging a hole he started eating in earnest, quick economic bites, polite but fast. About halfway through he realized she'd asked about meeting his brother's dragon... "I don't know if you'll be able to. Celestial Blood dragons... well, in our family they're highly selective about those they let near. If you can get close to her, go right ahead."

It was at that moment that a tired, slightly messy Adel walked in, sans-cape and wearing civilian clothing. It was a red shirt, and regular jeans.... and his hair was sticking up in random directions. A yawn escaped him before he raised a hand, and with half-open eyes managed to get out " 'Morning...." Before collapsing into a seat next to Ymir, placing his head on the pillow, and letting out what could have been a snore. Ymir frowned and nudged the younger twin with an elbow, getting only a grunted protest in reply.

Adenyyd frowned at Ymir's statement. More raw power? She didn't understand. She wanted to ask him to explain his statement when Adel came in, collapsing into his seat and seemingly fell asleep instantly. Glancing at Ymir, she realized that this was a common occurance. But not anymore, if she had anything to say about it.

Once again a grin curved her lips as she walked around the table and leaned down by Adel's side. She put her lips by his ears and whispered softly. "Adel~ You look cute when you're sleepy~" She had to stifle a giggle as she awaited his reaction.

For a few seconds he didn't react... aside from his head going up and the spaced out expression on his face being visible now. he turned his head over to her... only to blush, stutter, and jump back from the table, falling on the floor with a thud. Not only was he embarrassed, but nervous and confused as ever before.... more so, since it was all crashing on him at once. "A-a-Adenyyd! You're up!"

Ymir, for his part, had started snickering behind his hand. There was just a hint of mirth, his brother... was panicking? That was a large amount of respect for her. Once he was finished suppressing the urge to laugh he added, sounding overly calm and innocent, "She made breakfast too."

Smiling sweetly at Adel as he sprawled on the floor, she turned away and collected her empty plate, taking it to the sink and washing it. She also did the same for the dishes from last night, seeing as they hadn't been cleaned either.

"I would like to see the dragons here." She spoke as she washed, a small hum sometimes appearing in her throat. "I haven't seen many before and it would be wonderful to speak to all of them."

"R-right! We can do that, can't we Adel?" Oh dear, that smile made him want to laugh again, especially as Adel had begun to look around for something... probably a reason to act like nothing was going on. It was amusing... he'd have to ask her to do that more often. Ymir hid his smile by finishing his breakfast, pointing to the plate that was waiting for him.

"R-right... we can do that. I mean... I wasn't allowed near the unpartnered ones, so I don't know them that well, but Ymir does." It was a chance, and one that he was glad to take. He almost wanted to hug his brother for giving him a way to calm down. Or at least stop thinking what he was... which was along the lines of what in the world is she doing or thinking?! I'm... girls HATE me!

Taking Ymir's now clean plate to the sink, she once more smiled charmingly at Adel. "You'd best eat now, Adel, or you'll be hungry later~" She spoke in sultry voice, only barely resisting the urge to wink at him. That would be going too far. But it was much too fun to stop.

Once she was done with the dishes, Adenyyd couldn't help but feel awkward. She needed something to do, something to occupy herself with. She still didn't know what she was supposed to do as Adel's partner. What if she wasn't his full partner because she was half-blood? What if the other dragons didn't like her? What if she couldn't be the partner Adel needed? So many thoughts swam through her head...

Red to his ears now he just nodded, going back to eating his breakfast. Quickly. Because he had to do something... she must be enjoying this. She's gotta be. A quick and complete finishing of the food and he stood...only to trip. Now where had that come from? Ymir's foot was sticking out and he was looking to the side. A small glare, and then he was standing up again. "D-do you need help?" He'd willingly do it, if she'd just stop teasing him. Well.. actually he'd do it anyway, but.... he was scared he'd break a few plates if she kept teasing him.

Jerked out of her thoughts by Adel's question, Adenyyd suddenly realized that she has been washing the same plate for five minutes. Quickly putting it down, she shook her head in response to his question. "No, I think I'm done. But I would like to see the dragons now." She spoke, turning to him and motioning with her hand.

She wondered if the dragons would know human tongue. If they were partnered, she expected that they would. But the unpartnered ones... She wondered how her Dragon tongue sounded after so many years without speaking it. Hopefully it wasn't too bad.
