Realistic or Modern Let's Take a Road Trip

"Hey there," Farrah said quietly, looking kindly at the stranger. She didn't want him to think that they were all nut jobs when really they were just happy. "What are you doing out here at this time of night? Seems sort of dangerous. Do you need any help?"

Jackie's face turned from what was originally a slight pink into a bright red. Great, all you had to do was introduce yourself and you blew it. Smooth. Further exacerbating the issue was the fact that everyone seemed to take in interest in him so suddenly, and it somewhat overwhelmed the poor boy. "Uh, hi everyone. Like she told you all, I'm Jackie. From Hong Kong." His attention then turned to Farrah, whom was addressing him. "No, I'm not lost or anything. I was actually hoping to come with you guys! If...that's alright."

"Dude, shut up!" She yelled at Farrah as she chuckled at her concern for Jackie. "He's not a little kid, plus he is much safer with us than with you guys." Brooklyn nodded to Skye. "We're like, the most caring people on this trip." Looking at the overwhelmingly embarrassed boy from the mirror. "But, if anything bad does happen, remember you got yourself into it, hm?" Brooke smiled warmly at him. She was joking. Together, they were invincible.

"Dude, totally! The more, the merrier, am I right, y'all?" Farrah smirked at Brooklyn, silently agreeing. Jackie would probably be crushed by all the other people in her car if he piled in, and there was enough of a risk for that already. "Is that everyone?" she called to Brooke, who seemed to know the guest list the best out of anyone.

Brooklyn's eyes scanned behind her at the back row then to Farrah's car as her eyes went from face to face, half whispering and half mouthing names from her lips as she did. Finally settling her eyes on each and everyone of them, she stuck her hand out and gave Farrah a thumbs up. "We're good to go, girl!" Leaning against her arm she rested it on the side of the rolled down window. 'This was it' She thought to herself with a smile.

"Woooooooo! Finally!" Joseph exclaimed more excited then he out to be. There was a small part of him that worried about what his parents would think about their only son running away but he banished that thought once b again and just sat back in his cramped seat. He was positively vibrating with excitement.

(sorry, my notifications aren't working D: )

When she heard Brooklyn's response, Farrah grinned and turned her key in the ignition. "Then what are we waiting around for? Buckle up, y'all," she said, and pressed her foot on the accelerator. She had no Idea where they would end up, but that was the whole point of this thing anyway, wasn't it? She winked at Ashlyn and turned her eyes to the road. "Any requests?"

"Yeah, Drive." Skye joked, a smirk curling her lips. "Preferably before I squash your cute little clown car." She giggled faking throwing it into gear before revving the beasts engine. "You drive I'll follow. Drive to the end of the world if you can reach it, if not, we'll deal."

Tapping out the rhythm of Nine Inch Nails on the leather wheel, Skye chewed her bottom lip, This is it, she thought to herself, I can finally get out, away from the close care and overprotective mother who crams theory's down my throat. Now if only they'd move.

"Oh, you want a fight? I'll give you a fight," Farrah said playfully. She revved her Suburban's engine, then put it into gear and turned the wheel. She pulled up to Skye's window and lifted her chin before driving off into the dark. She rolled up her sleeves at the first stop sign and sighed contentedly. "Let's see what we can find up in this joint."

Mimicking a Texas accent, Skye let out a loud 'Yeeeeeehaaw!' as she threw it into gear making a break neck turn following her friend us close, but not too personal. After thinking for a moment, she pulled into the empty yellow marked lane, next to the Suburban. Looking through the passenger window past Brooklyn she winked blowing an air kiss before flooring it, leaving them in a cloud of dust and burnt tire smell, though not for long she assumed.

Ashlyn glanced over at Farrah and leaned back in her seat. "Any ideas on where we're headed? Even just a general idea?" She asked.

She knew her parents would be angry with her when she got back, but as of right now she couldn't care less.

The girl smiled at the two drivers mocking at each other. At the short moment the cars were beside each other, she singsonged a goodbye tauntingly. "Byyeee, losers~" Stop signs are for dorks. Besides, no one was out here to stop or hold them back in the middle of the night. Brooklyn sat back in her chair and stuck her hand of the window to feel the rushing air against her fingertips. Her head leaned against the head rest of the seat. She sat silently for a moment to watch the houses and shops shoot past them quickly, gradually thinning out as they went on. They soon got to the open dessert, where nothing surrounded them but the wide sun-kissed dirt of the earth. The white, shining moon was still standing tall in the middle of a dark blue, star-spotted night sky, but it was beginning it's slow, but gradual, descent, heading towards the horizon line.

Jackie looked out of the window fondly, having never seen such an open landscape before. Back in his home country, the pollution and high-rise buildings had often blocked a proper view of the night sky, and the teen was dumbfounded at how beautiful the stars looked. No smoke, no neon signs...just open environment. Despite the fact that it was only desert, he couldn't help but marvel at it. "In Chinese, the word for America, Měiguó, translates to 'beautiful country'. I guess I can see why."

Farrah glanced at the rearview mirror to check on her passengers. "No goddamn clue," she replied to Ashlyn, "but it'll be fun figuring that out as we go along. Am I right, Joseph?" She only targeted him because he seemed thrilled about the entire thing, but to be fair, so was everyone else in the car. She turned on the air conditioner, hoping that the kids would be at a decent temperature to appreciate the landscape better. As she flicked the switch on, the landscape transformed dramatically. The sky was alight with billions of stars, and the road was the only thing punctuating the seemingly endless fields surrounding them.

"Totally." Joseph replied. "Ooooor we could just spin a bottle and go whichever direction it points." The air conditioning was exactly what he needed. Being crushed in the back and his excitement was making it over heat. "Oh, And Farrah?" Joseph added like an afterthought. "Floor it! We can't lose to Skye and those crazies!"

"You should see it in the winter, some places are just mass areas of untouched snow." Skye chuckled, pulling into the proper lane as she saw headlights ahead." Unfortunately," She began her voice taking on a show host twang, "It appears my dear friends, that our compadres decided to drive at granny smith pace., meaning we left them smelling lead, rust and my baby boys 'pixy dust'." Pixy dust meaning, the trail of pent up smoke that was extinguished from her tail pipe as she had sped off.

Ashlyn smiled at Joseph and shook her head slightly. As soon as she felt the air conditioning she let out a small sigh of relief. She was getting hot in her sweatshirt, but she wouldn't take off her sweatshirt, too afraid of what her friends might say about what's underneath.

Farrah glanced over at Ashlyn, noticing her face becoming red and a light film of sweat forming. She wanted to say something, but didn't want to pry. Instead she just looked at her friend sympathetically, and turned her eyes back to the road.

As soon as the Dodge passed them, she smirked. "Awe, hell no," she muttered, pushing on the gas pedal to catch up. She opened up the windows of her car and accelerated until she was close enough to glare at the vehicle.

Ashlyn laughed lightly at Farrah and closed her eyes. She was beyond excited for this trip. She was getting away from everything wrong in her life and making new memories. Her eyes opened again and she glanced at their surroundings.

Sam glanced over the front seats, leaning on them. Her face hoverin inbetween Ashlyn's and Farrah's, she started to have an almost competetive look.
"Come on, push this baby, we're too cool to lose to them!" Laughingly, she had her tongue in the corner of her mouth, looking like an overly-concentrated kid. "Let's kick their asses!"

Farrah chuckled at Sam's comment. Her car wasn't built to go particularly fast; it was really more of a weird looking van, but she wouldn't let Skye make a fool of her. She pressed harder on the accelerator and soon the Suburban was flying down the road. It was probably, in retrospect, a pretty strange sight.

As she caught up with the truck, she switched into the neighbouring lane and stuck out her tongue playfully at the occupants of the other car. "Sam is gonna kick your ass when we get out of this car," she said laughingly, gesturing with her head to Sam's head peeking out between the seats. The depth of her voice confused her for a second. The whole crew had been referring to her as a girl, and she only just realised how heavily her baritone voice contrasted with it. Her brown eyes lost a little of their energy as Farrah turned to look at the road again.

Joseph leaned and playfully hugged Farrah from behind her seat. "It's ok if the mystery machine cant go faster than their crazy basic car. You know what this has? Character. And that's all that matters." He grinned at her. "Plus we have a pit bull back here to beat them up.' He winked at her.

Had she noticed, Sam would've probably attempted to make Farrah feel better, but to her, that was just her friend and it didn't seem weird at all. Instead, she decided to reinforce what Farrah had said with a gesture towards her friends in the other car with a giant smirk on her face.
"Mh, character..." Her tone was dripping in sarcasm. "That's what the nice guys say, Jojo. M'lady." She lifted up her fitted cap and showed a teasing smirk as she looked back at Joseph, before pulling her head back between the two front seats. "I believe in you, Farrah. You're a daredevil, the Queen of the road. Mad Max, if you will!" She sounded encouraging and playful as she gave her preptalk to the girl.

Farrah snorted at Joseph's remark. "Okay, first off, Scooby was a great Dane, but more importantly, who does that leave the rest of the cast to be? Because clearly, you're Scooby, also known as a Very Large Dog," she teased. She acknowledged Sam with a soft, "Of course I'm the queen," smiling once more and continuing to accelerate.

"Oh come on babe's, cant we work this out?" Skye asked playfully as she leaned out the window, her own alto voice not making her feel depressed, moreover empowered by the deep soft lull, rather than a squeaky soprano that most girls possessed. One hand lazily draped over the wheel as she relented her foots pressure on the gas pedal, making it a little easier for the 'funked out moms car' to stay at pace with her 'My uncle thought I was a boy's truck.

Biting her lip in playful seduction, she set the widened her eyes in fake innocence, "I know you all wanna jump my ass, but damn." She chuckled, "Cant you wait until we get to our destination first? I don't think the next gas station will appreciate a watered down porn." With a wink she gestured with her limp hand to the distance before calling out, "Hey, I'll meet you at the stop 40 or so down the road. The big boy needs his fill, seeing as how I took him off-roading yesterday, and didn't fill up. And I'm in need of coffee, and food." Slamming her foot back on the accelerator she waved, before calling out, "See you at the border looser's!"
