Into the Fire

Damont coughed awkwardly "What? No, uh-" He pulled out the flyer he'd picked up off the side of a house, unfolding it and pointing to it "Missing and you know, not many people have that big of a dragon, so." He instantly started muttering, he wasn't used to conversation, he wasn't used to people in general. Asher sat neatly behind him, eyes glued on Damont, just in case he wanted to bail at any moment, other than that, he didn't make a move.

Alexander gave a soft chuckle. "And you probably want to turn me in because you want to protect your home land eh?" He asked, his brow raising and nodding his head slightly. He had never really talked to a kid other than his younger siblings who he had helped teach and raise for most of their lives.

Damont shook his head "I'd rather not get involved with any affairs that comes out of that castle." He said, besides, if whoever this guy was had run away it probably had to be for good reason. Naturally, right? He wouldn't leave all that for nothing and, after all, Damont wasn't one to stick his nose where it shouldn't be although that was just a bit of a lie. Just a bit.

Alexander as he nodded, respecting his answer. "I can see that." He said softly as he studied the boy across from him. He smirked slightly ans shook his head. "So who are you?" He asked as he saw the weapons and daggers tied to his waist. He smiled gently and looked over at the dragon behind him

Asher raised his head, cocking it slightly, looking down on the other as if trying to figure him out. Damon narrowed his eyes seeing the other smirk, but he pushed it off for the moment, clearing his throat "Name's Damont." He said, bringing his arms up to cross them across his chest, shifting his weight on his feet. Though, he wasn't sure how he felt about the other, for now at least.

Blazer watched the man shift from one foot to another with his head cocked to the side. He studied the other dragon, his head continuing to twist and turn as he watched the other dragon study his own man. Alexander chuckled as he saw Damont shift his weight as he did the same, his brow rising up as he studied him. "Nice name."

"What's your's?" Damont supposed he should ask, not out of curtsy but rather because it'd be useful in general to know. Asher's eyes flicked up to Blaze for a mere second or two before he focused his attention else where. It would be a lie to say the other dragon didn't intimidate him but it didn't matter now.

"Prince Alexander The ThiRd." Alexander as he knew he had a very long name just didn't bother to say it all. "You can call me Alexander or Alex. Eithers fine." He said as he nodded at the other man. Blazer chuckled as he saw the dragon flick his eyes elsewhere ad he flicked his tail gently.

Damont nodded "Right." He said, felling a little more than awkward in not knowing what to say, he'd never really...Oh what was the phrase? He never really talked often since well, you know, not a lot of people came into the mountains. He was almost hoping Asher would fly him away, but this wasn't the case.

"You aren't good at talking to anyone are you?" He smiled a little as he could tell by the way Damont had been acting. He chuckled softly and grinned. Blazer looked up at the sky, a puff of smoke from his snout erupting into the sky again. The dragon nuzzled the puff as it flew away into the sky with another puff of smoke to follow

"I-"

Damont would've argued, really, he would have- but that was futile as anyone could've suspected that "No, not really." He sighed, watching Blaze blow smoke puffs into the air, he wasn't sure if that was just something the dragon did or if it was his own way of laughing at him. Well, at least this was practice he supposed, for talking to people that is.

Alexander chuckled as he heard the boy stutter, shaking his head. "You don't get alot of talk in with no one coming to the mountains since those rumors going around the village." He said. "Mind joining me for a walk?" He asked woth a gentle smile. The dragon flicked his tail and smiled and puffed out more smoke.

Damont narrowed his eyes, seeing the other chuckle, well, alright he must've been a sight with all his exasperation but still. He almost wanted to puff out his cheeks, something he did when he wasn't pleased, a habit you could say, but that would look childish and he'd already embarrassed himself enough around Alex. At some point, he'd given in "Sure." He said, causing Asher to stand so that he could move again.

Alexander nodded. "You know this place better than I. How about you lead the way?" The male smiled and bowed politely in front of the other man. Blazer stood up, his wings airing out and blowing air around the four of them. He smiled a little and stood beside Alexander, looking proud.

Asher put his attention down on Damont, who was debating where he'd even take them. He knew where to avoid, but his day was filled with running to and from town constantly, with the occasional hunting hen he simply didn't have the money for food...Though, there was...That would have to do for now. With Asher to his left, eyeing the path ahead, Damont took lead and started heading down the trail.

Alexander began to follow behind him as Blazer took in the very back to keep watch over the three in front of him. He didn't want anyone on his watch to get hurt or attacked. Alexander looked around." How long have you lived here?" Alex asked as he looked around the moutains, gazing at the view.

Damont hummed absentmindedly "Since I was six so...Eleven years?" He said, though his math wasn't the best he was sure that's how long it'd been. He hadn't always lived here, no, not always. There had been a time where he lived in a house with a family but that...Ended abruptly and that was that. It wasn't something he wanted to think about.

"It seems like a nice place to live." Alexander said as he watched the view, continuing to walk. The mountain view was incredible, something better than he had seen at the castle. The castles views weren't as good as the ones you could get here up at the mountains.

"I suppose..." Damont mumbled "Once you actually find a place to live in." He said, thinking about all those cold nights before he'd found the castle ruins or Asher. They were certainly not the highlights of his life, that was for sure, but that was shorter lived than his family so that was one good thing.

"How did you find your dragon?" Alex asked as they walked before stopping to let the boy talk. He was probably talking to much and the boy probably wished he'd shut up and just follow. Blazer puffed smoke into the air as his long tail swayed out gently.

Damont looked over at Alex "Asher?" He asked, the wyvern raising his head when his name was spoken, bringing his attention back to the present "I found him in the, ah, ruins." Damont said, remembering finding those doors, being his happy six year old, almost seven year old, self. He thought he'd finally found civilization, or maybe a family that would take him in. Instead, when he'd finally gotten those doors open, he found a tiny Wyvern about to his waist, which was tinier than you would think since Damont himself was only a child. It was a rocky start but now the two were almost inseparable.

Alexander smiled innocently and nodded as he understood the story. His story was far from that, his being he had been givin a choice to pick an egg and hatch it and that would be his new dragon and or friend. He had chosen an egg that had the same design on it as Blazer had himself and watches over it until a small dragon had came out of the egg. Since they both were very young, that had practically grew up together.

Damont would've returned the question but it was obvious. Or, at least to him it was, it was the same story every time. The royal was given an egg, whether they chose it or inherited it, and then raised the dragon from there on. He wondered how the mother of the egg felt, just having their child taken away to be given to humans, if they were ok with it or not, or, then again, he wondered where Asher's parent had gone. He'd probably never know.

Blazer raised his head when he could sense the feelings of the two humans. Alexander was easy to read, but Blazer just couldn't put his paw on what Damont was thinking about or how he felt. He was different. Blazer just shook his large head and sighed softly. Alexander looked at the male, raising a brow as he saw his dragon couldn't read the others feelings. They're was one thing no one knew about the Prince, and that was going to be kept a secret.

Damont seemed to perk up, or at least somewhat- enough to drag him out of thought, when he saw where they were going. The trail looped around the mountain somewhat, and if you didn't go straight up like Damont usually did to get home, there was a clearing with a giant ledge. Basically, it gave one a clear overview of everything below, even past the village and castle, and you were still low enough not to worry about the clouds. It was, to say the least, a nice view.
