Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

She smirked, she had no doubt he learned from John. Just from the way he carried his remarks, it was obvious he got his snark from John. Looking out the window Kay was glad she was inside. "You obviously got in just at the right time" she said, remembering all those nights she was stuck outside in the downpours like this and had to sleep in it.
Those nights were the hardest on her because it didn't matter how much Fee tried to shield her from the elements, it didn't work and she couldn't do too much for fear of being spotted by something or someone. She instinctively from the memory pulled into John a bit more without fully realising it.

She snapped out her memory just enough to hear John ask what Elliott was doing and the reply after. Smiling she liked the idea of all three of them sitting together to watch the show and his demeanor and tone change didn't go unnoticed by Kay.

Elliott pulled on his headphones and spent the next forty(ish) minutes editing, his expression switching between intense concentration and annoyance because something wasn't working out. But by the time the third episode finished, he was happy with what he had created. Carefully he uploaded the files onto various USB keys, which were then tucked away into a pocket.

Elliott's usual chair had an awful angle for TV viewing, the only one worse was Chas's which almost completly had it's back to the screen. Feeling cold he grabbed his hoodie from the hook near the door. It had a hole burned out at one elbow, and there was patch repair on the shoulder. He pulled it on, then plonked himself on the armrest at John's other side.

Kay watched as Elliott finished doing was doing and grabbed his hoodie and perched on the arm rest. She knew that couldn't be comfortable for long so she shifted slightly to get her legs off the couch and sat up in John's arms, to make room for him.

"Ell you can just tell me to move my ass you know or just chuck my legs off the couch in the future. I won't be offended." she smiled. She really didn't mind if anyone did that to her of they meant they could sit and watch TV properly.

"I'll remember that" he nodded "but really, it's John who needs to move, so I can plonk myself him, otherwise you'll be in the middle of our runnning commentary, which is very full on, and exhausting." He said, prodding hard John in the ribs to emphasise his point. "You have a point, we are quite obnoxious." John groaned.

But he did move over to let Elliott in. He took the place gratefully. He wouldn't have complained about being on the armrest. It was his usual position on gaming night at A.J's, so he was used to it. With everybody seated John hit play.

She couldn't help but smirk at his reply. She didn't mind if they did obnoxious commentary. She already had a little taste of John's when Elliott was on the roof. Budging up with John she got back to her comfortable position just before John hit play again.

Even though Elliott would have been okay with it, Kay just had more manners than that which is why she started the whole conversation about moving to give Elliott a proper seat. She watched the next episode gladly, surprisingly not being as tired as she thought she might have been by this point.

Between the two of them, Elliott and John did a fairly comprehensive commentary on literally everything, spanning from opinions on what would happen next, the costumes being worn, details in the background, grand and elaborate theories, trying to predict what would be said next and making the other die laughing at some stupid remark or another.

Elliott found himself wrecked by the end of the episode, and John was beginning to tire, it had been a long day. "well, I'm done for the night" he said standing up and stretching his arms out. "okay kiddo. Tomorrow I'll be giving you that bollocking, so don't thing you're off the hook just yet." John replied, with a mix of seriousness and teaisng in his tone.

Kay found their commentary hilarious. When there was comments on the costumes, that was when she could chime in. She didn't ever look it but she did know a few things about costume making. She had to use a sewing machine a fair few times in the past fixing garments or making something from scratch for an art project in university.

"Night Ell" she replied after John gave his warning about that bollocking he was due. She could tell John was beginning to tire as well, so she figured of he retired to bed, then she should. It was the motivation to leave her new favourite comfortable sitting position that would be the problem. She thought she may have to warn John he'd have to throw her off him in some way to get her to move.

"Bye guys." Elliott responded as he headed towards his room, grabbing his laptop on the way. Just before he entered he turned back around with a wicked smirk on his face and a mischevious glint in his eye. He said something to in his native tongue to John, which made John's eyes widen and had he been drinking, he would most definitely have done a cartoon style spit-take. "ELLIOTT!" John yelled, very nearly jumping up from the couch as he responded.

Elliott's grin only widened as he noticed John's ears turning red, a sure sign at that the barb had hit home. He darted into his room, the door bolting behind him. Elliott's laughter could be heard from inside. "I swear that kid....I'm gonna make him regret that."

Kay watched as everything unfolded and Elliott said something that clearly only John could understand. Seeing John react the way he and Elliott act the way he did, she got curious but also scared to ask. "Did he just say something about us?" She asked anyway.

She could only assume so from the way Elliott was practically manic laughing and bolted his door shut so John couldnt hit him one. She smirked when he said about making Elliott regret saying anything. "Just remember...bad could easily publicly declare his affections for Jay as payback if we feel THAT evil" she smirked wickedly.

"You really don't want to know" John replied with a half laugh that confirmed that yes Elliott had indeed been talking about him and Kay. As much as Kay's idea sounded appealing, it was crossing a line. And he really didn't want to piss off Jay any more than she already was. He was under no illusions, she could without a doubt batter him up good and proper.

"As much as I would love ta see that happen, would you really want to get on her bad side?" He replied, one eyebrow raised, Elliott's laughter dying down in the backround.

"didn't think I would want to know" she smiled. She always thought Elliott would have dirty mind and wicked sense of humour. She just didn't think she'd be on the end of it so soon.

"Good point!" She replied to John when it came to Jay. She REALLY didnt want to be on her bad side. Seeing Elliott in the state he was was enough of an deterrant. "Maybe leave that idea" she chuckled. "Might have to find payback in some other way, give me enough time and I can do a good prank" she added.

"I'm a crazy areshole, but I'm not crazy enough to try piss her off. Unlike with Ellie, I doubt she'd hesitate when it comes to hitting me into next week." John said with a laugh as he slumped back down onto the couch.

He smiled slightly at the idea of Kay pranking Elliott. It would be a good way to get back at him, and would be unexpected to say the least. "I'm far too on board with that. But wait a little while until this whole thing blows over and then strike when he least expects it."

She laughed at his first remark. He had a point there. Even she couldn't see him be THAT reckless. "Add her to the list then?" She teased as he slumped back on the couch.

"You say that as if it's my first prank scheme. Trust me, I'm ALL about leaving it until they least expect it. I'm not suicidal, of course of wait until this all blows over. It'll take me until that to properly work out the prank so it doesn't fail" she said smugly.

She relaxed back into the couch and John for a while before realising she really ought to stop sleeping on the couch when they both have perfectly good beds. "Maybe we should go to one of our beds and not the couch?" she suggested.

"Only if you have a death wish." John said truthfully. Maybe, he thought, there was a softer side to Jay that would appreciate being pranked (or at least take it well). But he couldn't see if it did exist beneath the veritable fortress of prickles and anger that she presented to everybody else.

John couldn't resist a smart comeback at Kay's suggestion. "that eager to get me in bed, are you?" He smirked teasingly.

Kay rolled her eyes at his smart mouth comeback but she had a smirk on her lips at the same time. "Says the one who goes there at an innocent question. Whose the eager one now?" She replied back. If he was going to play that he then she damn we'll would too.

"We're always sleeping on this couch, when we both perfectly good beds. Just saying... Or are you actually hoping for whatever Elliott said to you to happen between us?" She smirked, a glint in her eye.

He smirked back, glad that she was sassing him back. But he had a response ready, and regorted back with "and how do you know that what Elliott said didn't involve the couch?" He gestured at the couch with a smirk. He was not going to tell Kay what Elliott said. He'd prefer let her connect dots where there weren't any and see what she came up with.

"And besides, I spent half my nights sleeping on this couch long before you came along. I can literally fall asleep on anything if needs be"

'oh so THAT'S how you're playing it huh mister big shot? Bring it!' she thought to herself smirking at him. She let him continue saying what he had to say before she decided to come back with her retort.

Pulling out of his arms she sat up before swinging herself over onto his lap. "I may not know what Elliott had to balls to tell you and not me, and if it may or may not have anything to do with this couch but listen here smart ass" she began saying, jabbing her fingertip into his chest smirking, "you gotta work for this piece of ass of mine" she concluded. It was a long day and she was at one point thinking of just going to bed but if he was gonna play games, she was too.

The walls in John's apartment were thinner than they appeared. Another one of many joys associated with living in the shitty outskirts of town. Which meant Elliott could hear almost everything they were saying. He was a patient guy, but he could only put up with so much crap before he would snap and/or go sleep in the base for the night. And he'd reached his limit pretty quickly today. So he did what any rational person does in this kind of situation.

He banged loudly on the wall and shouted at them "Oi! Stop being so totally disgusting out there. You people may not consider sleeping to be important, but some of us do. If you're going to keep this crap up all night either sound proof my room or I'm going to risk another black eye and crash at A. J's"

When Elliott banged on the wall and all but scolded them she couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "Sorry Ell!!" She called through, "Looks like we've been told off" she chuckled saying to John this time, climbing off of him in a purposely teasing manner.

She placed her hands either side of him however leaning in close just to be that kind of bitch. "Guess that means it's bed time" she added, placing a forceful kiss onto his lips before just standing up straight like she didn't do anything of the sort and walked off slowly toward her room. It was very evident she was enjoying every single second of teasing the hell out of John. She could be a wicked woman when she wanted to be.

John knew that Kay was teasing him, and it was working too. She was far too good at it, and he expected that the whole bond thing might be part of it. He would have come up with some remark, but considering that Elliott could hear everything, it was an unwise idea. So instead he headed towards his room, stripped off his shirt and flopped down onto the bed. He was asleep within ten minutes.

"Yeah right" Elliott muttered to himself quietly enough that the others wouldn't hear him. He took a look around his room. It was tidy, more so than usual, everything neatly packed and boxed away, bar the bare minimum stuff. He would sleep for five hours and then up and leave in the middle of the night.

Kay got into bed and sighed happily. She had got to John yet again and she felt extremely smug about it. She laid on her back for a while staring up at the ceiling.

It took her the longest out the three of them to fall asleep but she did eventually. Her sleep however wasn't the most calm this time round. It was disruptive and her mind was noisy figuratively speaking. Despite this she wouldn't have heard when Elliott would leave in the middle of the night. He however, quite possibly would have heard through her closed door her disruptive sleeping.

As Kay slept, Fee took over. "Home...you need to visit home..." was repeated several times. The home Fee was referring to was her old abandoned home in Islington. Every now and then Kay's voice would come through inbetween Fee's more well spoken voice. "I can't...no..." She whimpered, yet her subconscious knew she had to.

John was the first of the two of them to wake. He wasn't sure whether to expect Elliott to be around or not, John had after all threatened him with a 'right bollocking'. His suspicions were confirmed by the folded note on the table. He put on some coffee and began to read the note. It said:
John (or Kay or Chas)
By the time you are reading this I've no doubt been gone for a couple of hours. I have some things I need to take care of and don't worry, none of it is in any way illegal. I should be back sometime in the evening.
Elliott

"As utterly vague and typicaly Elliott as usual" John muttered out loud to himself. Coffee made, he sat himself down and began to read the newspapers, looking for any mentions of aliens and the Justice League.

Kay eventually woke feeling and looking like crap. She stared at the ceiling in bed running a hand through her hair with a sigh. As she turned over in bed, she noticed that at some point in her sleep she had gotten up and written a memo to herself. It simply had the words 'visit home'. Screwing up the paper she threw it in the bin before getting out of bed.

She walked out and headed straight to the coffee machine where she got herself a mug, before sitting down and sliding half way down her seat. A completely different side of Kay compared to the normal early riser that's optimistic and cheery in the morning. She didnt even ask John if there was anything in the papers worth reading.

John looked up from the papers when Kay arrived. He had been taking notes as he read, and looking up back dated issues too, trying to find a pattern. He noticed that she wasn't her usual self, and could tell she was sleep deprived. He'd been in that state enough times himself to recognise it on others.

He passed over the note from Elliott. "Elliott's vanished again. Apparently not doing illegal stuff, but who knows."

Kay put her mug down on the table to pick up the note and read it, she nodded and put the note back down before picking up her mug of coffee again, taking a sip. "I guess non illegal stuff is something" she mumbled.

She pondered on whether she should tell John about her dream and the note she clearly left herself in her sleep. Seeing him working on stuff about the alien stuff made her question if she should get him involved with more of her stuff. Yet she knew she couldn't go back to her old place that she knew was now abandoned on her own.

With groan she just put her mug down and faceplanted the table.
