Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

Kay watched John's reaction not expecting that either. Though even she had to smile at John full on laughing. She enjoyed this side of him greatly.
"Bloody boys" she chuckled shaking her head. "You two are as bad as each other I swear" she added.

At least there was some laughter back in the room again she thought. She stood up and walked to the kitchen because she suddenly was desperate for a drink and for once not an alcoholic one. She just got herself a glass of water, and pulled out that remaining piece of cake she baked and managed to save for Elliott. It was surprisingly still fresh and she just knew it'd cheer him up a bit. Chocolate fixed everything in her mind.

She brought it over to the sofa and handed it to Elliott. "Managed to save you a piece of the cake I baked a little while ago for you...until everyone delved in haha" she told him. "Figured you needed it. Chocolates fixes all negative feelings after all." she added lastly with a warm smirk. She then sat herself back down on the couch again.

"Yeah well, what did you expect? A normal adoptive father-son relationship?" Elliott smirked, feeling slightly better, but still all to aware of the blooming black eye on his face. "And John's the worse one" he added, making John smirk at the irony and the truth in the statement.

Elliott eyed up the cake. "I'm guessing this is the cake Toby was raving about? She's been driving poor Kane up the wall about it." he told her, taking the plate. "And chocolate does fix most problems in the world." He could tell that something had changed, the apartment had a completly different atmosphere. John seemed... lighter, happier even. And he had no doubt that it was Kay who was the cause of it.

"oh I couldn't expect any kind of normality with you two!" She chimed back with a smirk. "And anyway...normal is subjective" she commented.

She then turned to Elliott when he asked about the cake and she laughed. "Yeah it will be. She took like two thirds of it!" Kay laughed. She gave him a squeeze of the shoulder as a sense of reassurance. Similar to Elliott, Kay did think the apartment had a different feel to it. To her it felt truly like home for the first time in the weeks she had been here. She also noticed how John was still his happier chirpier self, just like he was when it was just the two of them.

"I'm gonna go change and take a shower. Leave you two to it for a little while" she told them both, drinking some.more of her water before putting the glass on the table, standing up and walking out the room. She had a feeling John may be grilled about the new feeling in the apartment that was happening.

"That does not surprise me at all. As her long suffering half brother Kane will no doubt tell you, she has a massive sweet tooth." Elliott replied, confirming the suspiscions that Kane was indeed related to Toby.

As soon as Kay was in the shower, Elliott did indeed start to grill John on what exactly had happened between him and Kay the past while. To which John started to grill on Elliott on exactly why he had broken into the watchtower and what exactly he said that made Jay snap. They were at stalemate, so just like Elliott in the diner with Kay, they did a question for question trade.

Only four questions though. Which meant both of them considered exactly what it was they felt they needed to know. It took the entire duration of Kay's shower to answer the questions, and by the time she came out, Elliott was just finishing the end of his answer. "it was a low blow, she still blames herself for his death. She had complete justification for snapping when I used it against in anger."

Kay walked into the shower and the feeling of hot water rushing down her was amazing. It hadn't been that long since she last washes but it felt like it has been forever. She also deliberately took her time as much as she could to let the two of them talk.

Eventually she stepped out, did the usual wrapping a towel around her and walked into her room. Drying off, her usual lounge short shorts went on bit this time she put on one of her oversized jumpers that always fell off one shoulder and pretty much covered her shorts. She dried her hair and walked back into the room as Elliott was finishing his answer to a question john asked. She could only guess that John asked what he said to Jay to make her snap judging by what she caught of his answer.

She perched on the arm rest next to John. "Are my boys okay?" She asked with a cheeky grin.

Elliott shrugged "I will be." And John knew that was the truth. He could only guess at what Elliott was feeling, but he guessed he would spend a good portion of the night beating himself up, and trying what to do next. No doubt he and Jay would be avoiding each other for the forseable future. "But I am okay enough to see how much damage has been done to my face."

He walked into the bathroom and swore loudly catching sight of his face. John couldn't help but laugh quietly at the outrage, anger, shock and who knows what else in his voice. Elliott walked back out after inspecting the injury from all angles just to see if it would look better from some other angle. He was shaking his head in disbelief.

Kay smiled at Elliott's reply. The fact that neither of them objected to her little 'name' for them sent pride to her soul. As Elliott left the room, she placed her arm behind John resting it on the back of the couch. She was about to ask what they spoke about when she was gone, when Elliott cursed loudly about his face.

Like John, she laughed at the reaction, before she turned her attention to him re-entering. "We did warn you it's a hell of a shiner" she said to him, making it known they heard everything. Her thumb was absentmindedly rubbing up and down on John's shoulder without her even realising.

"Yeah well, this one tends to exaggerate" Elliott gestured at John. Neither really minded the nickname, it was the truth after all. Whatever smart remark John was about to say was cut off by a the sound of a message coming through to both Elliott and John's phones. They both knew from the alert noise that it was a security alert from the camera system they had installed in the apartment block.

"Bloody bollocks. Who could it possibly be?" John groaned, as they both dug their phones out. The message was simple and accompanied by a security camera photo of notorious American millionaire Bruce Wayne.
Target Indentified- chart topping rich arsehole

"Shit!" They cursed in unison, knowing why he was here. John turned to Kay and Elliott. "I'd get out of sight if I were you. This is going to be awkward."

"oh I don't doubt it" she smirked. Kay couldn't help but glance over John's shoulder when both their phones went off. Seeing the codename on his phone for Bruce Wayne she didn't feel surprised by it. She had heard what John calls the justice League before.

She nodded, getting off the arm rest of the couch when John said about getting out of sight. She wasn't going to protest with this one as it was obvious it'd no doubt be about Elliott's earlier antics. "I'll be in my room. Good luck" she told John before walking off to her room to stay out of sight.

Like most people, she'd heard many stories about the infamous Bruce Wayne of Wayne Enterprises and she was not going to meet him for the first time in her lounge wear. In her room she just sat on the bed and crossed her legs, pulling out the phoenix book to see if anything else has appeared since.

Elliott meanwhile went into his room and pressed his ear against the wall. He was sure as hell going to listen in on the conversation. John took his time sauntering over to answer the door. He was going to piss Bruce off, just like he always did. The two could never agree on anything except how shit the other one was at whatever it is they were supposed to be doing.

He opened the door with a scowl and "Bruce" said in a tone that would send most fleeing for the hills. "John" the millionaire responded with a curt nod and equal distaste. "Lets not bother with pretending we actually give a flying fuck about one another, what do you want?" John asked, his tone hostile.

"Was that you snooping around up in WT today?" John smirked "What kind of bullshit question is that? Of course it was me. It's hardly my dead twin brother or my doppelganger from earth two, who, is also dead. So it must have been me" "Why were you there?" "I have the bloody card, I might as well use it before one of you arseholes revokes it for no good reason."

"Believe me I'd love to do that. You are a total incompetant pain in the arse." "Takes one to know one" "But your previous statement is clearly bullshit." "Oh really? What are you going to do next, accuse me of stealing classified files or interfering with whatever top secret shenanigans you have going on at this current moment in time."

One look at Bruce's face, told him that was the exact reason. "if anyone was to break into it, wouldn't it be better not to go as the notoriously untrustworthy con man" Bruce nodded and turned away "still don't believe you, but I have better things to do."

John gave him the finger before slamming the door and flopping back on the couch, gigving the all clear when Bruce left.

Kay put the book down when John gave the all clear. It didn't show anything new anyway so it was a good excuse to put it away. By away, it equated to just leaving it on top of the bed.

She scrambled off the bed and walked back into the living room and flop down next to John. She pulled her already long sleeves down over her hands. "Didn't expect him to cave in so easily." She remarked, leaning against him and staring at her hands, playing with the cuffs on her jumper.

"Oh he hasn't, but he cannot stand being in my presence, so without proof that I can dismiss as his personal vendetta against me, there is absaloutly nothing he can do." John smirked triumphantly. "and he's going to keep looking until he can find something usable. He knows full well that I do me damn best to exploit any hole in his theory. That was just him seeing if I would take the easy way out. And besides, he'll never think somebody would be as crazy as to disguise themselves as me."

The last part was directed at Elliott, who had re-emerged from his room and rummaging through the fridge for ingredients he had bought earlier. "Exactly. Contrary to popular opinion, I do indeed actually make plans, not just flinging myself in head first with no thought at all". He began to start prepping. One of John's better parenting ideas had been to get Elliott to learn how to cook.

Kay nodded, "now that I can believe. Just by judging from the usual public stuff there is out there about him" she replied. "And you'd never do things the easy way, even I know that" she smirked at him.

She glanced behind her to see Elliott in the kitchen prepping food before looking back forward again. She had to admit it was a nice change to not be in the kitchen. Even though she does enjoy cooking and baking. "Out of you and John Ell? That's believable!" She replied to Elliott. "One of you have to have a brain in your heads!" She teased.

Elliott smiled slightly at that, while John just rolled his eyes. He'd heard it all before, mainly from Chas. Chas may have seemed like the smartest of the bunch with his whip smart brain and inside out knowledge of London streets and how to pass as a local cabbie in any city ever. But the truth of the matter was that Elliott and John were both incredibly intelligent, but their intelligence manifested through schemes. If they truly put effort in, either of them could create intricate plans involving manipulating people, lying, beating long odds and just doing the unexpected. If you can't beat the odds, change the game was very much applicable to them.

"You people better be okay with Mexican, cos that's what I bought supplies for. And I'm going spicy." Elliott announced as he finished dicing the chicken and veg. He plugged in his earphones and put one earbud in, then began to pull a whole assortment of spices from the cupboards. John made a thumbs up gesture "suits me fine. The more of my braincells you can kill with spices, the better"

(last post)

She secretly loved the fact she could make John roll his eyes so much with the crap she'd spout. She only teased him like that because she cared so much for him. She did it to everyone she cared for. If she was forever polite then people would have assume she was cloned or possesses or some shit. "I tease coz I care. If I was nice 24/7 to you, you'd have to assume I'm not me anymore" she told John, kissing his cheek thinking it'll let her off the hook.

When Elliott said about Mexican she smiled and nodded, letting John do the reply for the both of them. They'd quickly learn that there wouldn't be much she wouldn't eat. In the last two years she had learned to be thankful for anything that was edible and she still had that mindset even now.

"that's applicable to all of us, except Chas, he doesn't tease left, right and centre, he's very precise with his jabs, and with John, they always hit home." Elliott replied, as he started heating the oil. If he was on his own, he'd have been dancing around the kitchen and singing along to whatever song he was listening to on his phone. But there was company, so he had to refrain from looking completly crazy.

"Can't deny that. Chas is Chas, always has been always will be.......Speaking of everybody's favourite cabbie, any sign of him?" John asked, not because he believed there was something wrong with Chas, but because he wanted to know what Chas had read in the book. "Nope, and before you ask he hasn't told me anything either." Elliott had already anticipated John's next question. The apartment was then taking up with the sound of sizzling oil and the smell of chicken, beef and a selection of veg. Fajita mix was Elliott's signature dish. He'd been experimenting with the spices for years, seeing just how far he push it.

Kay smiled, she got that vibe off of each of them. She had witnessed enough of the teasing banter between John and Chas especially to know what Elliott said was hundred percent accurate.

When John brought up the question about Chas' whereabouts, she craned her head back to see what Elliott would reply with. She sighed ever so slightly when Elliott stated he hadn't heard anything either, turning her head back to her original position. She did think about suggesting calling Chas but she guessed she'd get the 'he'll show up when he wants to' style response so she didn't say anything. Kay was glad however, she wasn't the only impatient one when it came to the book.

As for his cooking, she was loving the smells that were coming from the kitchen. It really was smelling good to her which in turn was making her hungry and she could feel her stomach trying to growl.

It was safe to say that Elliott was feeling better after Jay's brutal punch. He was immersed in the music and in his cooking, treating the frying pan far more like a wok than he should have been. He was going with the tried and tested method of adding spices. He had marinaded the beef and chicken in spices, then doing the same with the veg, before throwing them all together and mixing them up.

He had bought the ingredients earlier, knowing that he would be cooking for at least three, but it could have been more if Chas was there or any of the other gang members. So there was plenty to go around. Within twenty minutes of first pulling the ingredients from the fridge, the finished meal was placed on the table. "there's beef, chicken, three kinds of peppper, onions, some mushrooms and those prawns from the freezer that I rediscovered." Elliott told them, placing the two giant bowls of filling on the table. Beside that was a plate of tinfoil wrapped tortillas. He did see the irony of keeping things warm with tinfoil, when all tgre of them could essily warm them up by themselves.

Kay stood up and walked to the kitchen table where the food was and sat down. Everything smelled incredible and she was so ready to dive in. "Smells great Ell!" She chimed with a smile, before grabbing a tortilla and filling it with some vegetables and chicken. Folding the tortilla perfectly like a burrito, she then stood up to get drinks out the fridge. Luckily for her, her bottles of Coke zero were still untouched. Grabbing one, she turned to the other two.

"Either of you want a drink before I close the fridge door?" She asked, opening her bottle ready to bring to the table.

"There should be a half empty bottle of as John calls it 'strange purple gloop', thanks." Eliott called over, making airquotes gestures in the direction of John. There was indeed a bottle filled with some kind of smoothie, evidently containing beetroot or purple carrot to give it that kind of colour. "Nah, I'm grand." John replied, as he began assembling his meal. It wasn't as precise as Kay's folding, but why would it be? Preciseness didn't seem that important to him for this kind of meal.

Elliott's on the other hand was expertly folded with one hand, the other tucking the loose hair behind his ears. He sat in his usual spot opposite John, one leg tucked under the other.

Kay nodded, "cool!" She replied as she turned to the fridge and took out the bottle Elliott described. Using her foot she closed the fridge door and walked back, placing Elliott's drink in front of him before taking her seat again at the end of the table between the two of them.

She took a swig of her coke before putting the bottle on the table to eat her meal. She was very impressed and it was spicy. Just how she liked it. "This is great Ell" she commented after a mouthful. She noticed how differently they all wrapped everything and she thought how it was yet another opposite about her and John, solidifying her thoughts on them as a duo the night before.

She crossed her feet over under the table, tucking them under her chair.

Elliott smiled at that. "Thanks. Cooking was one of John's better ideas. Strange hours in both our lives meant it was just easier if both of us to learn how to cook. And it eventually meant that whoever was around and hungry would cook. Much more efficient and it resulted in there always being food in the house. Neither of is are amazing chefs, but between us we can make almost anything" he explained. John nodded in confimation at that, before going on his own tangent.

"Or nearly burn down the apartment, prompting us to give up and go and buy pizza instead." Elliott couldn't help but smile at the memory along with John. "needless to say, both of us improved since then, espescially Elliott." They both began eating, savouring the spicy flavours, John internally trying guess what exactly Elliott had thrown into the pan.

"Similar to how I learned. When I was younger I'd always be hungry. It got to the point i just took my adoptive mom's cookbook and taught myself. Then she taught me how to bake" Kay replied. When John added about nearly burning the place down it reminded her of one of her old cooking mishaps.

"I never nearly burned our house down but I did succeed in turning rice into charcoal once when I was first learning my specialty rice one pot dish that John pretty much finished up single handedly" she added with chuckle. She picked up her drink and drank some more before continuing her food. Elliott definitely had talent and sold himself short she thought.

Both listened intently to Kay's stories as they ate. Elliott was still finding the whole new atmosphere weird, even though he knew the reasons for it. And he was happy for both of him, he truly was. But that didn't change the fact that there was a mix of emotions welling up in him. His main family was now was John, Chas, Renee, Trish and Sheryl, his second family being A.J., Saoirse, Kane, Toby, Scott and Jay. But that didn't stop him from from thinking back to his birth family. His blood.

An uncomfortable topic for him on a good day, but today it was even more painful than usual. There had been good times, but they had been so marred by the bad, that he had pushed them away. But he had remembered one story that seemed appropriate and without thinking about it, he told them. "That reminds me of something Cal did when we were younger. She got it into her head that she could use pyrokinesis and a giant metal container to make stupidly large amounts of popcorn. Needless to say that actually ended in complete disaster, an exploded pressure vessel and a various people with second degree burns."

Deep down, Kay knew it must be weird for Elliott. She just rocks up a month or two ago now, after being thrown into an unintentional damsel in distress situation. Elliot comes home to her in his home and starts off not trusting her one bit. Now here she was, finding she was destined to be with John and they were now bonded to each other. Of course he must find this whole new situation weird. If she was him, so would she.
She was also aware she hasn't spoken to Elliott about how he felt with the whole situation. He'd only spoken to John about it, and it made her wonder if she should talk to him at some point.

She listened to his story about Cal and the moment he started the story she knew it couldn't end well. The end of his story confirmed that and she reacted appropriately. "Bloody hell!" She said.
