Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

When Fia produced her licence Rinaa scrutinised it to see if there was anything that could potentially identify it as being from the future or from Earth. Thankfully there wasn't, it was all about the image and the age, but not specifying the date of birth. "Yeah, it'll pass checks. I would have offered one of mine, but it's damn clear we aren't the same person." She pulled out her wallet from an inside pocket in her jacket and thumbed through the ID. She had her real ID, a student ID for Earth, a student ID for Attil, her spare lab swipecard, various fake Ids making her older depending on regulations in countries or planets and a universal drivers licence in her name and in the name Artemis Taylor. She pulled out the last one after going through ever other card. "We're good to go then, lemme do the talking."

Rinaa made her diversion to one of the bike hire places. It was a particular favourite of hers as they had no qualms about hiring to teenagers as long as they produced some form of ID. After all different aline races matured at different ages, so you couldn't go based on appearance for risk of offending somebody. The current cashier on desk was an eighteen year old girl with classic golden Devra eyes and set of incredible black wings. Rinaa showed both their Ids and began to haggle like an expert over prices and what exactly they could get for their money. She'd done this before, haggling being a skill she had down to an art. They were lead out to the bike room by the cashier. They had a vast range, from slim framed cutaway racers, to motorbikes and sidecars that you could rent for weddings. The cashier and Rinaa hadn't stopped chatting since they'd met and theconversation may have been considered by some people to be borderline flirting.

Fia was glad that her license would pass checks. It was only seconds later after she said about having hers on her, that she realised it may not even pass checks on Attil, finding she kept having to remind herself she wasn't on earth. She smirked at her remark about of them not looking anything alike each other, no amount of lying would convince them. So it was a relief to know her license would pass. "Absolutely fine with me" she replied to the comment about letting her do all the talking.

She followed Rinaa to the nearest bike hire place she was heading to. She got a feeling Rinaa made several trips here, and as they walked in she noticed the Devra girl looking not much older than themselves in Fia's eyes and smiled, just to be polite, even though she wasn't planning on talking at all. The girls' black wings fascinated Fia, feeling not so alone in the whole having wings aspect of her life. The only difference is that this girl was unashamedly showing them off, whereas Fia kept them hidden through the wings marking on her back, just like Kay did. She watched on as Rinaa haggled expertly to get the best deal possible for them both, and when it came to following them out the back, she walked, observing how Rinaa was practically flirting with the girl, and smiling to herself. When it came to them not away from the place, she definitely wanted to ask her about this little scene playing out in front of her.

Rinaa had to admit to being incredibly jealous of anybody with a natural ability to fly. Cal and Cliff could use their respective elemental powers to fly, but Rinaa (ever the mechanically minded person) always found herself fascinated by those with permanent wings. The arrangement of the muscles in the back and shoulders, the cut and shape of the feathers, the width, length and how much of an impendiment they could be on everyday life were fascinating to her. She knew that making a set of mechanical wing wasn't going to make her able to fly, but it was a challenge none the less and would look damn good for cosplay purposes. Looking at the Devra girl's leather jacket and t-shirt it was clear to she'd had them tailored with special slits for the wings.

And the girl was perfectly willing to talk about her wings, and by the smile on her face was enjoying the conversation. Rinaa wasn't doing the crazy broad smile that Leah was well known for, but her whole attitude and body language and changed to that of a more outgoing person. This was the Rinaa/Leah that all the people in the lab and pilot crews knew- the whip smart, passionate, sarcastic, intensely loyal one. The conversation had turned to bikes, that much was obvious as they were gesturing at specific features on the racing bikes. Rinaa would if she was on her own have stayed there for a good couple of hours talking bikes, but with Fia around that wasn't an option. The winged girl pulled out a page, scribbled something onto it and handed it to Rinaa, who read it, then wrote down something on a different sheet and passed it over with a smile. The winged girl then left, leaving them to the all important business of picking out bikes.

Fia just stayed out of the conversation, mostly because a lot of it she didn't understand, she could only guess what was being spoken about from body language and facial expressions along with certain gestures. She still noted how Rinaa seemed so much more relaxed around her and by the conversation at hand. If she could understand talk Attili, she would have joined in in the wings topic at least, but she also knew even if she could, Rinaa may be annoyed that she was involving herself after she promised not to do any talking.

When the girl left and left them to it, she smirked to herself. "She seems cool" she casually spoke up to try and suss Rinaa out on what she thought on the girl. She looked through the bikes with her to pick one out as she spoke. Fia did think they were little spoiled for choice when it came to the bikes, wondering what one Rinaa would pick, along with everything else she was thinking. It was at this moment she noticed she was still having the violin under her arm, so she put it in her bag so she could ride the bike when it was picked out. Normally when she rode, she'd pull up her jacket sleeves slightly, which wasn't the brightest idea if she ever fell off, but she just always felt comfortable riding that way. Yet on Attil she knew it wasn't a smart idea, as she did have runes on her lower arms/wrists.

Rinaa rolled her eyes, spotting the smirk on Fia's face and knowing exactly what she was trying to find out without asking directly. It was at a moments that like these she was thankful that nobody had ever taught Fia Attili. And she'd prefer if it stayed that way, it gave her a little more freedom of speech, knowing that what she said couldn't be understood. "Yeah, she is." she replied, carefully scrutinising the bikes. They were all excellent quality, well built and she couldn't see any obvious flaws, damages or defects. She ran her hand over the handlebars of one particular bike, a bike designed for desert or off-road racing with a slim frame, larger wheels than average for grip and a plain matt black paint job.

"Her name is Moya, she's eighteen, born and raised on Attil, but on a different continent to the one we're currently on." Just like Earth, Attil was a mix of water and land with various continents. "She moved here for uni. She's currently doing a clothing design course at the uni.She also does some street racing and plays plas-ball with one of the uni teams. And cool enough to say we can both pick whatever want and just get charged the standard rate. Anyone who says flirting with the person on desk gets you nowhere is wrong." Rinaa smirked with the last sentence, having proved it true many times.

Fia may not have been taught any Attili exactly, but it was down to that that she found the communication rune, and practiced with it a lot. She would use it many times to eavesdrop on conversations in another language, as well as being able to talk in any language possible when it required to. It was cheating yes, but she didn't care and it worked all the time. Only difference this time was that she wasn't allowed to use her runes, so she went on out of the loop with the language. She never realised how frustrating not using magic could be until spending as much time on this planet as she did.

She was about to comment in reply to her initial remark back, getting that Rinaa was cottoning on to what she was doing, when she Rinaa went on to say more about the girl who she now knew was called Moya. She chuckled at Rinaa's last comment. "So i get the impression you do that alot to people. And here's me thinking you liked the girl" she smirked. Though she did still think that slightly as she found a bike nearby the one Rinaa was looking at, inspecting it to get a feeling she'd handle it or not, knowing like with most things, there were some bikes she'd not be able to handle and others she would. Luckily for her, it seemed like a good fit.

Rinaa noted Fia's choice of bike, inspecting it from her position and not finding anything obviously out of place. She shrugged at Fia's comment deciding to give her the truthful answer. "Yeah, I do. A lot of places where I've been or lived are staffed by teenager paying their way through university. Jay taught me that if you can identify the right person they can tell you all kinds of useful things like where to go for illegal street-racing, where the underground music clubs are, where does the best food, where to hide from cops, where to score ship parts...that kind of stuff. It applies to any planet, and plus, even if you don't get any useful info it's a bit of fun."

At the next comment from Fia Rinaa had to smirk. She'd dropped any pretence of being subtle. "Never said I didn't. She does fit one of my types and I did manage to get her number....so" She shrugged, figuring that she probably didn't need to explain that she was bisexual. She then added a little of nugget that Fia wouldn't know about. "she reminds me of a girl I went out with for a bit." She sat herself on the bike and revved the engine.

Fia got on her bike as she listened to what Rinaa said about the benefits of just flirting her way around someone to get what she wanted. She got it in a lot of ways, but she also thought how it was borderline catfishing, yet in their lives they had to be like that so she didn't say anything on it, just nodding. When she said about getting the girl's number, Fia smirked back wondering if that was the case when paper and pen was exchanged back and forth. "Thought that was the case" she replied. Rinaa being bisexual didn't phase Fia in the slightest as it wasn't anything to be phased by. She was used to having family being part of the LGBTQ+ community in one way or another. After all, she knew her dad was bisexual, knew her aunt was gay and then there's Cal and Cliff.

"That's cool, whatever brings you a bit of happiness for the time being" she replied, revving her own engine. She truly meant it as well, she knew how bad Rinaa had it and she truly believed the girl deserved a bit of happiness in any way she could get it, whilst she could get it. As for Fia she didn't really know where she stood on the whole who she's attracted to subject. Though she did always think the male barista she had befriended was cute, but that was it. She never did anything about it as she was still figuring herself out. "Lead the way, I can keep up" she told her, changing the subject.

Rinaa being bi wasn't that big a deal for anybody, in fact it had been suspected from the moment she was created. Both Jay and Elliott were bi and her main base genetic code. Nobody was quite sure if sexuality could be inherited, but apparently that was the case for Rinaa. And with Cal and Cliff being married and John being bi, nobody really made big deal about it. It was one of those "Okay cool to know, so what do you want for lunch?" moments. "Yeah well, early days and timeline differences" I'd anything did happen it wouldnt be able to last as long as Rinaa would like. But she had explained to Moya that her family travelled a lot and would just be upping and leaving Attil someday. So she couldn't say she hadn't been warned. "Plus I have a location for some late night street racing. There's nothing like street racing to get the adrenaline up. I only live once and all that jazz."

Rinaa nodded at Fia's words. She didn't bother with a helmet, but the armour pendant was activated. Fia might be able to deal with a broken neck, she wasn't. She started up the bike, taking it slow whne they were leaving so as not to damage any of the other bikes. But once she was out she swerved left and onto the main roadway to the university campus. Rinaa was totally at home on the bike and utterly in control. She was above the speed limit, but so was everybody else. It was just one of those unwritten rules that you could travel a couple of kilometres above the speed limit and nobody would hassle you. The roadway took them over various mountain gorges and around serpentine roads carved into the cliff faces themselves.

The University Campus was a series of sleek modern buildings with various solar panels on the roof as well as an observatory and a heli launchpad and even a place for jetpack landings. The buildings were arranged by subject - Sciences, Businesses, Humanities, Arts and Piloting. They were arranged around several central greenspaces. To one side was a large sports stadium and sports complex. There were various students milling around and a general atmosphere of what could only be described as "things happen here" to the place. Rinaa pulled up the bike outside the music school. "Well this is Dij University, that building there is the music centre. Most of the lecture halls and labs are located here. But the practical stuff for pilots and other science stuff is located off campus."

Fia knew if she did do anything about the girl Moya it wouldn't last long, but she still believed that Rinaa deserved to at least have a couple of happy dates with the girl whilst she could. She smiled at the comment of living only once, and nodded, "more reason to at least go on a couple of dates, even if it's at one of those late night street races" she smirked. She followed Rinaa slowly out, before picking up speed once outside, keeping up with Rinaa with no problem whatsoever. The scenery she experienced as she sped through the streets an mountain gorges blew Fia away. She knew if she was a passenger in a car or on her own, she would have taken a moment to snap a couple of photos or make a video of the route.

Coming up to the campus, she noted how modern they looked as well as the facilities they had attached to said buildings. She noted the whole vibe the place had, as students mingled around for one thing or another, as well as taking in the view of the sports centre and more. She pulled up next to Rinaa, turning the engine off and getting off the bike, listening to what Rinaa was telling her. "Cool. It's a great looking place" she commented, only making herself wish more she could have attended normal school to be able to do things like college and university. She wondered if her Aunt Sam would be able to convince future Kay and John to let her apply to somewhere when she eventually went back to her timeline. Especially as it was her aunt that was mostly homeschooling her in normal subjects like maths and English. "Well, lead the way" she commented.

To have Fia giving her dating advice was bizarre beyond belief. She tended to keep her family and friends desperate, and Jay had understood that. Rinaa wanted something that couldn't be tainted by the worse parts of her family, something that would allow her to be herself without anything holding her back. And to see her daughter happy had meant far more to Jay than she could ever express. She had planned on going to the races anyway, just to experience life and forget about the impending cloud of her death or Elliott's if things went wrong. And Moya was both attractive, fiery and a mechanic. An almost irresistible combination for Rinaa.

"You got that right. And it's gets plenty of funding to keep it modern looking and up to date." Rinaa locked the bikes, she doubted anyone would steal them, but better safe than sorry. The recording studios and individual practice rooms were on the ground floor and basement levels of the music centre. The rest of the rooms were communal practice spaces, dance studios and performance halls for theatre and music. Swiping her way in Rinaa made her way to the basement level. Small windows filtered light from above ground. She perferd these practice spaces as they offered more privacy. As she passed Rinaa grabbed two 'room in use' tags from the hooks. "Put one of these on the outside of the door and go wherever you feel like. These are a mix of practice studious and recording spaces."

Rinaa wasn't the only one who found it incredibly weird that she was giving dating advice. Fia herself found it incredibly weird as she's never gone a single date herself, but she could see there was some kind chemistry between Rinaa and Moya, so she figured why not just enjoy her company whilst Rinaa had the opportunity to. It just seemed like a no brainer to Fia, and if she was in her position she would certainly take the opportunity up with both hands, despite the impending doom of her death or Elliott's.

"It shows that they have funding all the time. Makes me wanna see if I can enrol somewhere back home..if I'd be allowed to that is" she chuckled as Rinaa locked the bikes up before following her into the building and down to the basement. Her curious mind meant she took a little peek in what rooms she could as they walked passed them and down stairs. She watched as Rinaa took two signs to signal the room was being used, before taking one when Rinaa handed it to her. "Nice, will do" she replied. "You going to do your own thing in another room?" She asked, also feeling like she wanted to know which room she'd go in so if she did need her for any reason she knew which one to knock on. She doubted she would need Rinaa but it was just nice for her to know just incase. She always liked to know everything for every eventuality that might crop up in her life. She was always taught that and she wasn't ever going to not do it.

Rinaa could hear the longing in her tone. She could understand why her parents would say no or at least be in two minds about it, but at the end of the day Fia was going to have to forge her own path in the world at some point or another. If it didn't happen soon, she'd be severely socially disadvantaged for the rest of her life, and that wouldn't be great. "I'd recommend it, but always go and scope out the place beforehand and sneak into classes to see if you'd actually be interested. If you sit in the back or in half shadow and don't do anything to make you stand out, then nobody will notice you. As for your parents? Well you being here has to have changed something in your timeline." She replied, twirling the sign idly around her finger before nodding at the next remark.

Fia hit the nail right on the head with her question. "Yeah, I will be. I'd like to say it's nothing personal, but I physically can't practice properly with family around." That was a side effect of suppressing anything that could remind them of Elliott, and over time it had become a full blown anxiety problem. Though she was getting over it, as she had managed to play a bit in front of Elliott and John earlier. "Though I have no fear around complete strangers. The mind works in mysterious ways" she shrugged. "I'll be in room 7K, which is a little along the corridor and on the left hand side" she added, beginning to head that way.

Fia listened to the recommendation of sneaking into various classes at various colleges and truly see if it's something she wanted to do. It seemed like a good idea to her, one that she would take on at the first chance she would get. If she got yelled at by her parents for doing it then so be it. They had to understand she wanted to learn and live a life outside of their supernatural one. She loved her life, she did but she also felt so incredibly cut off from a world she could experience fully.

She held her hands up in a 'no offence taken' manner, getting it. No one would believe her but she did have a time when she started violin and dance that meant she would freeze up the moment she was spotted. It's one reason she always went to the roof, then the shyness dissipated but her preference for playing on the roof still remained. "I get that, you don't need to explain it to me." She started saying, with a smile. "7k, right, got it. I'll be in that room two doors down to the right, meet back up in an hour or something?" She suggested. Not knowing how long they had for being here, so she just threw out a random amount of time that she thought it'd take her to string it and then tune it to how she wanted. If Rinaa wanted longer that would be fine by her as well.

Rinaa nodded with relief that Fia understood where she was coming from and didn't feel the need to ask any further questions on the whole matter. She took note of the room Fia chose. An hour sounded like a good amount of time, considering that it would take her about fifteen minutes to get properly tuned up and into the swing of things anyway. But once she was into it, she'd relax and lose herself in the music. "Yep, that works fine for me, though if I lose track of time come and bang on the door or something to get my attention." She added, knowing that she'd rather be disturbed in that kind of manner than have Fia barge in on her while singing. She doubted she'd take the second option well.

With the conversation over, Rinaa made her way to her chosen room. It was a practice room only, no recording or sound splicing equipment. She didn't feel that recording herself was necessary. Putting on the sign, she shut the door and deposited her bags in the corner. Carefully she opened the guitar case and took out Jack's guitar. Tuning it was like performing a ritual for her, she took it very seriously and methodically, checking each string multiple times. With that done she went straight into singing, just picking the first song that came to mind. Her practice started hesitantly, but as the time passed by, her confidence grew and she lost herself in the singing and the strumming.

Fia nodded as they agreed on an hour to themselves in each room before meeting back up again to then head to the shooting range to test the other half of her violin. "Sure thing, you got it. I'll stick an alarm on on my phone" As Rinaa walked to her room, she walked to hers, putting the sign on the door and walking in, closing the door behind her. Walking inside, she put her down bag and sat on the floor in front of it. She pulled out the violin crossbow and placed it carefully down beside her before rummaging down her bag to the inside pocket where she kept a little case of her spare strings.

Just before she started stringing it up, she did as she said she would and set an alarm on her phone for one hour's time, then placed her phone on the floor by her bag. Grabbing her strings and equipment, she began the meticulous task of placing the strings down the violin neck and body, making sure they were attached correctly. It took her a little while but she finally got them how she wanted, snipped off the excess, and started tuning it, which took her a good five minutes due to being a new piece.

With it now tuned, she grabbed the bow which she also made sure was set up, stood up and began playing it. She found it incredibly difficult to not dance as she played, the slight few movements coming out even though she tried to hold back. She needed to focus on the sound quality and how well the instrument was holding up. It was proving to hold up well and the frame just made it sound incredible. She found herself playing one of her favourite pieces she came up with that she affectionately called "master of tides" and that was it, she got lost in the playing and found herself dancing around the room. It was only when her alarm went off an hour later that she realised how much time had passed.

( Song: )

Rinaa sang a wide mix of things, she started with her usual practice piece which was an instrumental, just to check that she was happy with tuning and tightness. She didn't bother setting an alarm, figuring that she'd just go by gut feeling on timing. Jack's guitar was made for a right handed player, but she always played music left hand dominant. It was one of her many musical quirks. When playing she always sat still, usually cross legged or with one led tucked under the other for comfort. If she was just singing she wouldn't dance as such, but she would move as she sang to add emphasis to her words.

The most striking thing about Rinaa's singing wasn't the sheer volume of notes she could achieve or the power of her voice, but the amount of emotion and feeling she could inject into her words. She just instinctively knew how to make people feel exactly what the song wanted them too. She tended to go for songs about love or loss or struggles in life. But she was also known for belting out 'Wake me up' by Avicii while working. Her own compositions were emotional pieces designed to evoke responses. And today was one of those days where she just needed to vent how she was feeling to the world.

When the hour did eventually come round, Fia saw her phone light up from the alarm going off and stopped playing with a frown. She felt so much better in herself for being able to play again, she felt like her again, like a piece of her had come back to her. She couldn't really explain it, it just did. She walked over to her bag and phone, squatting down to pick up her phone and turn the alarm off. She was glad she set one as she knew she'd have continued to play until she dropped to the floor. She always found it difficult to know when to stop.

She shoved her phone in her jacket pocket, zipping up her bag and slinging it over her shoulder as she stood up properly. She couldn't hear Rinaa outside but then, she didn't think she would as she was pretty quiet at the best of times in her opinion. Checking that she didn't leave anything laying around, she walked out of the room, grabbing the sign off the door so people would know the room is now free. She couldn't see Rinaa out of the room, so she headed to room 7K and knocked on the door loudly. "Rinaa! You ready?" She called out to let her know it was just her. Like with her Leah, she was curious to Rinaa's playing and singing, but she respected her privacy all the same, and never once inserted herself where she wasn't wanted. So after knocking on the door, she leaned against the wall next to the door, one foot up against the wall, her violin in her hand, whilst she kept the bow for the playing function of the instrument was in her bag. As she waited, she hummed what she was playing as it was now stuck in her head.

Rinaa found herself jolted out of her singing by Fia's knocking. She hadn't realised it, but she'd really let her emotions out and had been crying slightly as she sang. "Shit, shit, shit!" she muttered to herself, wiping the back of her hand across her face. "Ya, give me five" she yelled back, opening the door enough for Fia to hear her, but not see her, before closing it again. She ran a hnad through her hair and up and done her face. Her breathing was ragged, having no idea just how much energy she had expended while playing. Her stomach was gnawing at her, and thankfully she remembered she had an emergency stash if chocolate for such an occasion. Slowly she returned to normal, a feeling of great catharsis coming over her.

Rinaa felt a lot better after just letting out everything. She hadn't wanted to lump it on her parents or any of the others as they already have enough on their plates. Rinaa realised how much she really wasn't coping with any of this. Putting away the guitar, she sling the case and backpack onto her back, pulling out the chocolate. Opening the door she grabbed the sign, not looking Fia in the face for fear of being asked about the redness around her eyes. "Well, how'd it go? Did it fall apart or not? Does it sound like a violin or have we just made a really cool looking ornament and we need to do a remodel with a different material?"

Fia waited for her patiently after she got told to give her five minutes. When Rinaa did finally step out of the room, she looked up and pushed herself off the wall using the foot that was propped up against it. She noticed Rinaa choosing not to really look her in the face but she kept quiet, knowing there was a reason behind it, as Rinaa did everything seemingly for a reason. She could guess that certain emotions came out when she was alone and left it at that.

"Yeah it plays just fine. In fact it plays better than my original. There's something about the material that gives it this...whole new hypnotic sound. Didn't fall apart at all either" she explained in reply. She knew she'd have to find a case for it at some point if it was to keep its quality, but for now her bag would have to do. "So if it can shoot out of the crossbow half just as well we made a damn good piece of equipment!" She told her, knowing when they test that, she'll have to borrow some crossbow bolts to truly test that, as it wasnt something she had brought with her, not thinking she'd need them for any reason.

Rinaa's shoulders slumped upon hearing that it had been a success and that Fia was praising the work as being almost better than the original. "Well that's a bloody relief. I was thinking the alloy would give a different sound quality but wasn't 100% sure, I've never made an instrument I could play before, let alone a violin. It would be like a knife in the heart if it had fallen apart after all the modelling and work" she paused "not that that hasn't happened before to me, but it's still immensely annoying to have all that time and effort gone to waste. And in the long term its good to fail so you can learn from mistakes and learn how to think in a different way." She broke off a piece of chocolate from the bar, which was dark with bits of nuts in it.

"But testing the crossbow itself is the real thing. I'm pretty sure I've counteracted for the torque, strain energy, angles, general stress etcetera, but I cant be sure for certain until we test it." She popped in the chocolate, letting it dissolve in her mouth. "They'll have crossbow bolts at the range, there should be bolts to fit the violin bow, I tried to make it for standard size bolts, but if that doesn't work, I'll ask Cliff about custom ones. Cliff goes to this particular range to practice, hence how I know there'll be a bow section." She explained as they made their way upstairs and back outside.

Fia saw the relief on Rinaa's face when she said it plays like a charm and didn't break apart. She nodded agreeing that it would have been a massive blow if it didn't work out on the playing stage of their tests. Though she did also agree that if it did fail it was a learning curve to grow from to get it right. She was stubborn enough to have tried again if it failed so quickly. "True. Luckily for us though it worked first time so far" she smiled.

When Rinaa said about being pretty sure she took everything into consideration correctly, she nodded again. She was also glad that the range would have bolts for her to borrow for the test. "Yeah I agree, if it does work out you'll instantly be the coolest person I know...just sayin' and awesome, but fingers crossed we'll be alright. I'll even let you have a go at shooting it" she smiled. It was something she said to anyone if they managed to solve something she couldn't or needed something doing out of her skillset. She dubbed them the coolest member of her family for that moment. She had no idea if Rinaa's Fia did similar, but even if she didn't, she hoped Rinaa took kindly to her declaration. She followed Rinaa up and out like standard practice for her.

Fia in her timeline used that phrase, but it was never directed at Rinaa, and very seldomly at Jay, who would usually respond with a stare that would have quite easily frozen hell over. But Rinaa was aware of how Fia used it frequently, some things it seemed just didn't change with regard to timelines. With regards to letting her try it out, it wasn't something Rinaa would have expected to hear. Fia was damn possisve of her stuff in her timeline. "Yeah, word to the wise, I'm not much of an archer, Cliff and Jay taught me the basics, but it never really clicked properly with me. I'm far more of a gunslinger." Chas taught her to shoot as did Jay, and whne Rinaa went to a gun range, she went there to shoot a mix of handguns, shotguns and sniper rifles.

The gun range of choice went by the wit name of 'Lock, Stock and Barrel' and was located at the sports centre on campus. It only toon a few minutes to walk there, Rinaa cutting through one of the green spaces to get there. Parts of the range were outdoors, while others were carved inside the mountain itself. Different planets had different weapons laws, but as the university was no only mutli species, but multi-planetary it was accepted that if you were going to the range you knew what you were doing and any injuries were your fault and yours alone. "You ever been to a gun range before? Or do I need to give you a run down on all these fine bits of etiquette so you don't draw unwanted attention?" She asked as they approached the main building.

Fia was still possessive of her stuff and protective of her stuff, but in this instance, the fact that Rinaa helped to make it, she thought it was only fair that she could try it out as well. It just seemed fair in Fia's eyes, and she was determined still to keep proving she wasn't like the Fia in Rinaa's timeline. She may not have to keep to doing it, but she felt like she did. She lays felt like she had to prove herself and it was probably partly due to her upbringing having to constantly do things until it was done right. "Just like my Leah. But like I've always told her, to shoot a crossbow, it's much easier than any other kind of bow. Back in history, a 6 year old kid managed to kill a King, I think at Warrick Castle, with one because he just pulled the trigger without realising it wasn't a toy or loaded." She explained, adding in some earth history. History was her favourite lesson that Sam taught her, especially British medieval history.

She followed go the range when Rinaa spoke once more, "I've been to a range, but if there's anything different here rules wise, I'm all ears" she replied to her, knowing that some ranges do like to have their own rules thrown into the normal standard ones. Last thing she needed was to draw unwanted attention to herself when she's not from here.

"Interesting" she remarked to both the story and the remark about Leah. She meant her words, she liked knowing the similarities between her and the other Leah, now that they had actually met face to face. "I've used a crossbow before tesing it for a commission, but it just doesn't fit right. Give me a blade or a gun any day." She added with a shrug, adjusting her pace as the ground began to slope upwards. "It's not too different from Earth ranges, yet at the same time there's so much that is different." she made a sort of circular gesture while searching for the right words to continues with. "There's a lot of etiquette and unwritten rules in this particular range. You either burn and learn, or have somebody tell them to you. I did a bit of both."

"Obviously no mixing weapons on ranges. Archery in one section, pistols and handguns in another, sniper rifles and distance weapons go together, shotguns have their own section as do the plasma guns. Always wear the glasses no matter what the weapon. Anywhere except the archery range either wear earplugs or headphones. You'll be crucified by both staff and patrons if you don't wear them. Donf wear a bulletproof vest, you'll get marked as a greenie and an outsider instantly. Always pick a shooting range near the edge, the centre ones are for show-offs who feel the need for an entourage. Don't challenge anybody to anything, it won't end well. Stay out of any gallery when firing is going on. All weapons must be made safe before being set down. Don't look clueless, and if people start watching don't make yourself look too good. Don't let anybody try help you shoot. You pass on the left, and when a weapon isn't in use, hold it in your dominant hand pointing downwards or holster it. Don't point any weapon at anybody even as a joke. Don't pay anybody any attention, and they will treat you with the same disinterest. No chewing gum and no listening to music either. No phones out while shooting, save that for the corridors or the observation gallery. Got all that?"
