Fantasy Howl's Flying Castle (Finished! ---Whoo! (*^▽^)/)

The wolves that came out sniffing curiously, were curious things to behold themselves. There were ordinary looking wolves that were only extraordinary because of their size, yet there were other giant wolves with colorful feathery plumage and talon-like claws similar to birds.

The one sniffing Lydia's bags had wings like a pale-throated sparrow, while the one sniffing Echo was dark like a crow and had a very long lush tail. The wolf Johnny was speaking to was the biggest of them all and growled in a guttural language; the horses were very nervous and shied away from the wolves, pawing the ground restlessly.

"Everyone, they want us to pay a toll to pass through their lands." said Johnny without looking behind him. "But they won't tell me what they want. 'Ter Nuak, their alpha, and his sons want to pick after smelling what we have."

"We can't give these to them." said James sternly, "they're for getting lumber for the warship." A wolf was sniffing Frey too and looked at the silvery white stag curiously as if it had never seen anything like it before.

"They won't let us go."

"Are they threatening us?"

"It's implied." said Johnny. It seemed that the wolves did not understand their language. The wolf smelling Echo wagged its tail, while the one sniffing Lydia wagged its tail at her bags.

Their group could fight them off while backing away, though that'd mean going back up the steep trail and looking for another route to Winslow while their new foes made their journey more difficult. Or they give up whatever the wolves liked.

Echo yelped in surprise when Johnny picked her up, bridal style, blushing bright red when she noticed how strong he was slowly becoming. Before he couldn't do it, now he can without shaking so much. 'Wow...' She thought before her mind shut down from the intense kissing behind the rocks. She melted and clinged onto him for those ten minutes...

When they reached the group, the reindeer fawn didn't look at anybody, but she was smiling silly, her cheeks still flush with a bright hue of red and her ears twitching. Sometimes she would giggle for no reason as she observed the mountain range. It's really difficult to not want to cuddle with Johnny more...but they had to do this...no matter how much she wanted to.

Echo walked instead of riding her horse like everyone else, being close as she could while looking like a friend to her boyfriend. She couldn't get rid of her nervousness of meeting other wolf-like beings in Johnny's tribe or any other tribe as the thought of being eaten was not pleasant.

She wasn't kidding when she told Johnny that she didn't want to be anybody's dinner.

The fawn jumped when Johnny and Butters responded to the other howl, howling and baa-ing back for twenty minutes. When he explained that this tribe didn't want them to cross, Echo nodded and followed the direction. "Alright, then we'll take another path to go through. No need to cross their peace." Chenglei responded back to Johnny, letting him lead the way to find a path to Winslow.

They went through the steep route that was difficult for her horse to climb down, but it managed with Echo's guidance, calming it down when it was about to jump off or something worse. As they walked into the forest, the fawn froze when the giant wolf came out of the shadows with smaller wolves surrounding them. As she listened to Johnny's dialect (It sounds so pretty, she thought, enamored with his accent), the red head flinched from the dark plumped tail wolf smelling her.

Huh?

She listened to Johnny's explanation and she felt dread peeking through her giddy cloud. So if the sons want something from them...then...Didn't Johnny told her that they herd reindeer too and would eat them as food? Echo didn't want to be their dinner! She really didn't! Besides she wasn't carrying anything special and it's very nerve-wreaking that one of the wolves was interested in her. Did he want her as a toll? All because she's a reindeer satyr? Nope. Nope. All the nopes on this realm.

Echo took a small step back from the dark wolf, looking at the ground as she frowned worriedly. Her ears flattened and her face scrunched up into one filled with anxiety that's building up. She couldn't say anything either because of the traditions of these tribes, bloody Merlin-! Her horse neighed quietly as it too took a step back from the wolf, not trusting the hunter to not hurt it, staring at him warily.

Chenglei cleared his throat. "Johnny, how do you know if a wolf is interested? Because they have been sniffing Frey, Echo, and Lydia's stuff for awhile now..." He made a clicking noise and tugged his handle lightly to move his horse closer to Echo as he could. He did it without looking at any of the wolves as he didn't want to offend anyone...just yet. It would be bad if they wanted what and who they were sniffing at.

Lydia tried to keep not only herself, but her horse calm as well. Her head lowered slightly and her green eyes shifting from the creature's mane to the wolf beside her. She honestly wonder what on earth she could have in her bag that would be so interesting to a wolf, she also wondered if it was something of value to her but she wasn't sure what she should do.

She was curious to see what it was that had peaked the wolf's interest, but she also didn't want to see and cause the wolf to think she was giving permission for it to take the item in question, especially if it was something she held dear. She then began trying to tally what she had in her bags that a wolf might possibly want before casting a sidelong glance to James. Then there was Echo.. one of the wolves seemed to have taken an interest in her.

Lydia swallowed loudly and shook her head. Whatever it was that was so interesting in her bag, it wasn't worth discovering what it was and possibly endangering Echo. Why couldn't these creatures just be straight forward? Lydia felt herself getting extremely annoyed and clenched her teeth to keep from losing her temper.

"We'd sniff it too long and wag our tails." said Johnny. After a few minutes of talking, he inclined his head at the big wolf and returned to the group, looking stony. Butters didn't go with him but remained facing the wolf who looked down on him. The giant ram bleated darkly, showing off the strength of his horns.

It seemed that Johhny bought them some time to discuss the toll, and the wolves that had been sniffing Echo, Lydia herself, and then Chenglei for some reason backed off when the big wolf snarled. And so they had a little privacy. Agreeing that the needs of the warship comes first, they decided that if in case one of their party gets chosen they'll play along and find a way to escape somehow. James had his spying bees, so they could all still communicate with each other.

With that the large wolf called his sons and they in turn told Johnnny who they want: Echo, Lydia, and Chenglei. He stiffened and seemed to try to dissuade them, but the wolves' tempers rose and he, with some difficulty, told the group who they wanted for the toll.

James mouth dropped open before he regained his composure. They had agreed to play along, but he still wasn't ready for this and his anxiety grew. Glancing at Lydia, he looked like he wanted to do something. "I'll take Lydia's place."

Yep, the wolves want to eat her. She's about to become Echo stew and she swore that she's giving them stomachaches. She will haunt them for generations as she honestly did not want to be eaten and die that easily.

As Johnny explained and told them who's going, the blond Oriental spoke up. His expression was grave just like when Luthein opening portals in Dalaran. "Worry not my friend. I'll look after Echo." He promised, grabbing his sheathed sword out of his nerves.

When he heard James volunteering however, his frown turned a bit princely, looking impressed with his bravery. "Young Pendragon, you are a chivalrous man! Oh how wonderful to know that you are a true gentleman with women! Good man you are! Good!" He pulled over to James to pat his back hard and grabbed his hands, pulling them up to their chests as he went on about how they will venture to perilous adventures together.

"Watch, young Pendragon, my little brother! We will survive this quest and make it back in one piece!" The red Camille flowers bloomed in the air again with glitter everywhere. Including where the wolves are. The bright spotlight appeared on the unlikely pair as petals blew by them. He pulled James into a one-arm hug and squeezed him tight, his ash purple eyes shined brightly.

Echo watched the whole thing and sighed as she just wants to stay with Johnny. She really did not want to go and become someone's dinner.

When the wolves backed away, Lydia relaxed noticeably, a deep breath released as her anxiety somewhat subsided. Of course that feeling that the worst was past soon evaporated as Johnny informed them all of the toll. She grimaced and stared at him. What could wolves possibly want them for other than for eating? She felt like she was underwater, the sounds around her all muffled, though she eventually heard James speak up and smiled warmly to him. She frowned slightly as Chenglei began encouraging his recklessness but she shook her head and stepped over to them both, collecting James' hands in hers and tugging him away from Chenglei, "James, that's very chivalrous of you and I appreciate the gesture..."

Her cheeks were rosy and she was looking down at their hands, "but don't you think that... maybe there is more to this?" they didn't exactly know what the wolves wanted them for, but why would they pick a soldier or these three in particular out of all of the people around unless they wanted them for something more than a meal? Lydia turned her gaze on Johnny, "did they say what exactly they wanted us for?"

Lydia was trying to remain rational. She didn't see why the wolves would act diplomatic if they were just hungry, she figured that they would just take what they wanted and leave the others to pass without any questions. That was just how Lydia's mind worked though, her intelligence shining through.

"Y-yeah, brother." grimaced James, and stiffly draped a shaking arm over Chenglei's shoulders. 'For Lydia, for Lydia, for Lydia, for Lydia, for Lydia, for Lydia, for Lydia.' he chanted in his head to strengthen his resolve.

The wolves flinched and looked somewhat grossed out and Johnny heard one of them ask another if James was actually a woman. He did have long hair. But at that moment, Lydia rescued him.

"No," said Johnny to Lydia, still stony, "but by the looks of them it could either be for food or for work, though my people don't eat humans. Reindeers though . . ." he looked at Echo with an expression as if he was thinking about attacking the wolves, but remembering Echo's battles, and his spar with Chenglei where he had lost, he decided to trust them.

James squeezed Lydia's hand and nodded stiffly, standing tall, though really he was anxious for her, and she and those who knew him could tell with the way his brow was furrowed. "Are you saying, you want to go with them?"

Katsuya Katsuya Roleplay Skittle Roleplay Skittle

Noticing the look Johnny gave her, Echo smiled warmly at him, now gathering up her courage.

"...I...I really doubt they can eat me. I may be part reindeer, but I'm still a satyr. I'll just punch their snouts if they try to bite me." She looked like she wanted to hug and comfort him but she's resisting that urge. It would be bad if the wolves here let the other tribes know of their relationship before they can tell his family first.

"Don't worry so much, Lo-....Johnny. I promise to come back to you." Echo's ears twitched. At least the wolves were uncomfortable with Chenglei's mannerisms. She can take humor in that.

Chenglei dropped his arm back, now asking James if one of the bees could hide in his hair and on the others too. That way the Pendragon can see what each one of them is up to and possibly watch over the girls. He honestly can take care of himself, but he rather wants some sort of back up to for the ladies in case worst comes to worse.

Zer0 Zer0 Roleplay Skittle Roleplay Skittle

Her lips pursed slightly as Johnny told her that they don't eat Humans... well they were intelligent so they could probably convince them that Echo was actually more Human than Reindeer. She had convinced herself that they didn't intend on eating them and she hoped that she was right.

She squeezed James' hand in return and nodded her head, smiling to him reassuringly, "they chose me. Besides..." she raised her hand to pat the breast of her coat, which he couldn't see it and probably wouldn't realize it, but the inner pocket on that side contained the note that he had previously left for her in the atelier. He'd probably think she was silly for keeping it since it wasn't a very endearing note and was quite simple in fact, "I have my lucky charm with me."

It wasn't really necessary to mention all of the things she had faced down alongside the others let alone point out her success in the battle in Ashenvale, but she was confident she could take care of a few puppies. At least if her allergies didn't get to her first and they didn't seem to be as bad with wolves as they were with dogs.

"Hammer Mama and big brother Chenglei will be with me too... don't worry, we'll all be fine," she gave his hand a last squeeze before she released it and stepped nearer to Echo and Chenglei.

"Alright, Echo." said Johnny looking more consoled. "Wolf fur is very flammable, and silver is poison in our blood. After we get to Winslow, I'll talk to my family and we'll come and get you three."

James didn't know what Lydia's lucky charm was, but nodded stiffly, feeling more reassured with her smile. He knew she can smile like that because she's faced more terrible and dangerous things and survived. "Okay, just . . . just remember to keep warm." He fixed her scarf up and patted snow off her clothes unnecessarily. He simply nodded at Chenglei, and after Johnny told them that they weren't allowed to carry any bags, weapons, potions, and to leave them all here, watched as the three went off with the big wolf.

The group remained standing, watching Echo, Lydia and Chenglei. James and Johnny's gazes lingered on Lydia and Echo, until the three hiked down a slope and the group was blocked from view.

* * * *

None of the wolves could speak in the common tongue, but they made their intentions known by nudging the three quickly along with their snouts. Their pace was so fast and the snow deep that the three were always forced to sprint. The wolves didn't take any breaks and would pick up whoever lagged behind with their teeth and carry them like a rag doll through the forest.

They passed by snow blanketed clearings, crossed a half-frozen river, and startled a flock of red-throated robins and a herd of giant bison as they padded through a ravine. Finally, after what seemed like two hours of ceaseless running, the big wolf howled and was answered by a chorus in the distance.

A ruined settlement came into view. They were rebuilding and the remains of their houses were very much made of the same materials as Johnny's tepee: wood, furs, and richly embroidered cloth, colorful and intricate. The locals walked as humans garbed in colorful embroidery lined with fur; jeweled beads and ornaments of gold hung from their bodies and garments, and all the women wore woolen hats that had draping cloth at the sides that hid their hair. There were some in wolf form, carrying construction materials to and fro, but they all seem to be males; on one side of the village weeping could be heard and there was a burning pyre that smelled like a crematory's furnace.

There were many slaves who labored with stone and in tending to herds of giant sheep and goats almost like Butters but not intelligent looking. These slaves wore shabby winter clothes, and seemed to be malnourished and weary. They were of different races: there were humans who wore steel collars that had spikes lining the inside instead of out, there were some sullen looking green goblins writing things down, rabbit-men who were doing hard labor, dwarves chiseling at rocks, and humans with no collars who were helping with the carpentry.

Chenglei perked up when he heard Lydia's title for him and smiled, though this smile is the brotherly type. The one Lydia has seen before when they were alone at the atelier. Echo blushed when she heard her own nickname and giggled a bit. She nodded at Johnny when he mentioned about the weaknesses, keeping them in mind. "Okay...Thank you for telling me."

With that, the trio walked with the wolves without their horses. Okay, scratch that, it seems the wolves wanted them to run instead. So Chenglei ran as quickly as he can to stay in pace with the wolves. at first it was fine since he trained for this kind of things, but after an hour and a half, he started to slow down. So one of the wolves picked him up by the back of his shirt. It certainly was interesting to be picked up like a pup.

Echo is able to run with the wolves without much issue and for a long time, even jumping in the rougher terrains when she needed to jump. Her green eyes always looked over to the wolves for a moment before going back to the path they are running in. The fawn wouldn't give the wolves a reason to depend on them at all in case they did try to nibble on her. She is that paranoid about being eaten. "How are you holding up, Lydia?" She asked at one point, worried about her friend.

When they reached the village, Echo gasped quietly and Chenglei tensed up. What happened to their village? Who would try to mess up their homes? The fawn can hear people crying nearby and it pained her as she remembers her father crying for her deceased mother. At least they are rebuilding, though the collars on the slaves...look a bit much. Especially with how the slaves look like sticks that can break at any second.

The blond Oriental soldier sighed as he can recognize havoc and asked out loud in case there was someone in this village who understands their language. "What happened to your home? Who did this?"

Zer0 Zer0 Roleplay Skittle Roleplay Skittle

She giggled slightly as James told her to keep warm and nodded, blushing as he fussed over her. Normally she would have been unnerved by the fact that they couldn't bring anything with them, but she was still high on the success of the battle at Ashenvale and wasn't too worried, they probably didn't know how her magic worked and she didn't need a focus other than her words. In other words, Lydia wasn't very much concerned with the fact that they had no physical weapons because in a way, she was a weapon.

"Hey!" Lydia complained as one of the wolves repeatedly nudged her, her lips sticking out slightly as she puckered them slightly in annoyance, but she ran as fast as she could, which wasn't fast. Of course she had held her own in battle previously, but she was in no way a cross-country sprinter and she was the first to be claimed as a rag doll out of the three.

"Honestly....?" Lydia muttered, her arms crossing over her chest for a moment before they loosened and held onto the collar of her coat to keep from getting choked as she was treated like a child's toy. When the settlement came into view, her brow furrowed slightly, had they been attacked? She could see that maybe the somehow figured out Echo's strength and thought she could be helpful in rebuilding, but there was no telling. When Echo asked how she was doing, the corner of her mouth quirked slightly, "I'm okay."

As soon as she was released, she stood close to Echo and Chenglei. She didn't understand this, not really. Slaves were a new concept to her, at least actually seeing them was. She had heard of them but seeing people treated like this hurt her heart and she held a hand to her chest.

A wolf snapped its jaws menacingly at Chenglei and snarled in an unmistakable gesture of 'shut your pie hole'. And knocked him forward with his snout.

A shackled goblin who wore a ragged fancy suit a bit big for it and who had been droningly writing on some parchment with a quil, looked up at Chenglei and his eyes widened in recognition when it saw Lydia and Echo. It elbowed one of its fellows and surreptitiously nodded at the three. The other goblin got excited and one could just see him mouthing the word: 'Holt'. They immediately went back to work though when one of the wolves looked their way, but one could swear the goblin in the suit gave Chenglei a small knowing wink.

Many of the locals turned their heads when Chenglei and Echo passed as though they had never seen anything quite like them before. Many sniffed Echo, but the sons snarled at them to back off.

They were led to the edge of the ruined village, where a large cave with an ornate entrance of carved wood and fancy embroidery was carved on the mountain side. Here under a canopy of furs sat a beautiful wolf with a plumage of purple and pink, and an exquisite gold necklace around her neck. She wagged her tail upon seeing the big wolf and bunted heads with him affectionately. They began to speak in that guttural language.

After a while the big wolf, 'Ter Nuak, growled something at the rest of the wolves who yanked Chenglei away towards the slaves, while Lydia was picked up by the winged son and taken into the cave. Echo was forced to stay behind, the son with the black fur and long tail sitting behind her. The beautiful female wolf sniffed Echo curiously while the alpha took his place under the canopy and barked something at another wolf.

A goblin, the one in the fancy suit, came waddling up to them, and after speaking politely to the female wolf and nodding, he turned to Echo. "Hello, the alpha female would like to know what you are."

Katsuya Katsuya Roleplay Skittle Roleplay Skittle

Chenglei did not react to the wolf snapping at him, but if Lydia took a look on his face, she would notice his ash purple eyes turning into steel; He didn't appreciate being snarled at nor did he liked being pushed. He planted his foot down before he could even fall to the ground, coldly staring at the wolf behind him and walked to follow the wolves in front of him.

His subtle glare grew darker when the other wolves sniffed his friend's lady, but he smirked when he caught the goblins' knowing looks at the trio. The blond oriental jerked his head once, enough to let the goblin in the suit that he understood something: They have allies in this village.

When Echo saw the very colorful wolf with the golden necklace, the fawn could only blink and suck in her breathe when the wolves dragged Chenglei away, along with taking Lydia too-! The soldier really didn't like that, but he followed suit.

She looked like she wanted to speak up, but she remembered the traditions in these tribes. So she stayed quiet, her green eyes staring at her friends being taken away with dread pooling in her stomach. The red-headed fawn didn't take notice to the dark wolf that's sitting in her view of her friends or more like she wouldn't acknowledge him as she was more worried about the other two.

It's only when the goblin in the suit ask her a question did Echo look over to him, her green eyes quickly looked over the wolves before looking back at the goblin. "Hello...I am a fawn. A satyr. A reindeer satyr." She answered quietly and politely. "Why does she want to know, if you don't mind me asking?" She asked the little goblin in the fancy suit, frowning a bit.

Lydia's brow wrinkled as the wolf snapped at Chenglei and she recoiled slightly. She hadn't noticed the goblins at first since she had been paying attention to the wolf, but she caught Chenglei's slight nod and looked in the direction he was looking, her eyes narrowing slightly. Goblins? She wondered if they had something to do with the things at Holt. Maybe they knew the goblin mage that had gotten them their things back? Well sort of gotten them their things back. Lydia smiled slightly before they were ushered onward.

She cautiously looked around, as they moved and continued to do so once they reached their apparent destination, but she never let her eyes linger in one place or on one creature for too long. She wondered if the wolves were planning on doing with them as they had done with the other creatures in this village that were slaves. Over her tiny but mighty dead body. Her posture straightened slightly at the thought but it was then that Chenglei was snatched away and the moment she reached out after him, she too was lifted and carried off.

"Again?" She sighed to herself. Honestly, just because they were big and just because they were wolves didn't mean they had to treat her like a bone. She crossed her arms over her chest again and relented to the ragdoll routine, ready to rain some fire if she didn't like how things were going and it looked like she wouldn't be the only one that this tribe had made angry recently.

The goblin ignored Echo's question and translated for the alpha female. She spoke again, and once more the goblin asked Echo her question. "What is a satyr, what is your name, and where do you come from? I don't know why she wants to know, don't be so obvious, they don't like talkative slaves." he added without changing his expression.

Meanwhile, Lydia was carried off into a house decorated like the inside of Johnny's tepee, except fancier. Embroidered rugs and pillows stacked on the floor where wolves in human form lounged about in long fur coats. There were slaves here too, cleaning and serving raw meat but they were all women.

Lydia was promptly dropped in front of one who was a dwarf. She was chubby and big boned, and was carrying an entire giant sheep, skinned and headless, on her back towards a room with a sky light that seemed to be a kitchen. The winged wolf said something to her and she nodded politely. He sat down and watched the two.

"Kaw, ba-e" she pointed at Lydia, "'anhi." she pointed at a room in the kitchens without a door, only blocked by a curtain where there seemed to be someone washing clothes inside.

Roleplay Skittle Roleplay Skittle

Again, Lydia took the same cautious look around, her green eyes never lingering in one place for too long. She was getting to where little surprised her. Things were interesting to her, of course, but their appearance wasn't really fazing her anymore. She smiled slightly at the sight of the Dwarf, she wondered if the woman and Echo would get along, or who would win in a test of strength. She tried not to think about what was being carried because that was unnerving and she kept her sight trained on the Dwarf herself. That got her to wondering if Dwarves had separate terms for females, where they Dwarfesses? She had to try not to laugh and tried to stay aware of her surroundings, this was no time to be getting lost in her own little world as usual.

She tilted her head as she was addressed, balking slightly at being pointed at, but then following the direction pointed after. Really? They wanted her to wash clothes? Didn't they have enough slaves... or better yet, couldn't they get off their lazy wolf butts and do the chores themselves? Lydia felt highly irritated, but she placed her hand over the side of her coat where James' note was hidden, reassuring herself and calming herself all at once before she entered the room and took a look around. At least they weren't asking her to cook, that would have been hilarious but then she could have just pretended that it was an accident when she lit everything on fire.

Zer0 Zer0 Katsuya Katsuya

Echo didn't emote her shock when the goblin asked her all these questions and then warn her to keep the sentences short. Her green eyes stayed at the goblin who's apparently clever. If he's telling her this...then.....Her ears twitched at the revelation she got based on what he's telling her.

'Allies...maybe....'

"A satyr is a half human and half hooves creature; in my case, a reindeer. My name is Echo Muses. I come from Dawnsfield, a bright field village surrounded by a warm forest. Thank you for letting me know." The fawn told the goblin, not changing her expression, even though she has a weird feeling as to why the wolf would ask her that...

Turned out that Lydia wasn't being sent to the bathroom to wash laundry, but to change into some clothes similar to what the slave girls were wearing, a simple thick dress, obviously second hand with sewn in patches, made of wool with a sash for a belt, and a plain hood that all in all still made it look like it wasn't going to keep anyone warm long enough. She was given no shoes.

The one doing the laundry in the bathroom was another older lady dwarf who smiled at Lydia kindly and also mimed to leave her clothes with her. There was a buzzing behind Lydia's ear, then something small crawled into her hair.

Roleplay Skittle Roleplay Skittle

Meanwhile, outside, more and more wolves were coming to look at Echo interestedly, listening in to the goblin's translations.

"From now on you are Lu Tarin's slave according to the dogma of the Nuak clan." said the goblin, gesturing at the black wolf sitting behind her. "You will answer his every whim and wait on him. His word is law and as long as you abide by the rules of his household no harm will come to you. You must never run, never make sounds as you walk, but be quick and graceful. You must never cause your master stress, and you will be trained to become someone who will be able to answer all of your master's questions. His home is your home now, but you will be granted one request according to the dogma of the Nuak clan."

Katsuya Katsuya

Lydia took the clothes in her hands and looked at the Dwarf woman handing them to her, then back at the clothes. Her lips flattening against each other and forming a line. She had intended to help these wolves with whatever it was they needed help with but that did not include adding MORE slaves to their already abundant supply.

The corner of Lydia's mouth twitched a few times as she struggled to force a smile onto her face, which eventually turned into a slightly terrifying grin because the appearance of the gesture combined with the emotions she was feeling at that moment was just not natural. She cleared her throat and spoke through clenched teeth to the Dwarven woman, "I need someone who speaks the common tongue or Frankish."

Of course she didn't know if the woman would understand her or not, but her next move was to attempt to calm herself and she did this by setting down the clothes she had been given. That absolutely was not going to happen. Changing meant she was relenting. Changing meant she was letting them make her a slave. That just wasn't going to happen.

It was at that moment that she heard the slight buzzing, and that aided in calming her somewhat, it meant James was with her. She closed her eyes and managed to usher in a slightly more cheerful smile to somewhat erase the somewhat terrifying one that was already plastered on her lips.

Zer0 Zer0 Katsuya Katsuya

Echo did not look at the black wolf behind her, taking a deep breathe to calm down and not out right punch his snout. She needs to play along. She NEEDS to play along in order to escape stealthily and safely with Chenglei and Lydia.

So the red-headed just nods looking all docile when her green eyes has this fire of sorts. It's the same one that Johnny sees whenever she is angry. One request, huh? She'll remember that...

'Oh I hope Johnny is hearing about this. I can't wait to march up to him and kiss him for what it's worth.' She thought viciously, her hands curled up. She smiled at the goblin, thanking him quietly for translating as her anger is not pointed at him; it's the wolves that she's pissed about. Then she finally acknowledge the black wolf behind her, not exactly looking at him, but not exactly happy either.

The elderly dwarf was startled, but didn't understand what Lydia was saying, so she called over the big-boned dwarven lady who was chopping up the giant sheep. The winged wolf who was still standing by the entrance of the kitchen snarled impatiently.

"Gamita, gamita." said the dwarven lady, pushing the clothes into Lydia's arms and glancing back worriedly at the large wolf. "Kaw," she pointed at her, "gamita ni." she pointed at the clothes with the patient voice of explaining one plus one equals two to an emotional toddler.

The wolf became impatient and padded over to the three women, hackles raised and growling. The dwarven lady whirled around and began to talk to him in a soothing placating tone.

Meanwhile, Lu Tarin, the black wolf wagged his tail approvingly at Echo and picked her up like a ragdoll and brought her into the cave, the goblin walking fast just to catch up. The fawn could catch a glimpse of what was happening in the kitchen before the wolf turned and entered an adjacent room where an elder wolf, fur almost gone, thin and sickly with one of its legs black as if it was burned and dead, was lying pitifully on a pile of embroidered pillows.

The black wolf dropped Echo and called to the elder wolf who opened its eyes which were a sickly yellow. And presented the fawn to him.

"This is the Nuak clan's shaman, he was cursed during the battle that wrecked this village --- called Scree, by the way. The old geezer doesn't have much time to live." said the goblin. The wolf spoke to him and he translated. "Can you do any tricks to entertain the old wolf?"

Lydia's eyebrow was twitching. She was trying to contain her emotions and failing horribly by the increasingly disturbed expression on her face, it was with this face that she turned her attention to the Dwarven female that had led her to the bathroom in the first place, and it was with this expression that she began gritting her teeth as she was treated like she was an idiot.

Lydia drew in a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment, trying to relax enough to handle this with some composure, but she was already picturing the fireball in her mind. She tried again as she felt her false serenity wane and her focus increase, "I don't want to hurt anyone."

Her voice was calm, firm, and those greens caught a glimpse of Echo being carried around like some toy, which only aggravated her more and who knew what happened to Chenglei, "I want to speak with someone that can translate to these wolves."

After she had finished speaking, she began reciting her spell just in case they still wouldn't listen, "Burning flame..." she spoke in barely more than a whisper.

Echo flinched when he picked her up like a ragdoll, taking another deep breathe to calm down. When they passed by the kitchen, the fawn frowned in worry and anger when she saw the winged wolf growling at her witch friend. She has to play along. She has to play along. She has to play along.

'Oh how I want to punch each and every one of you.' Echo thought darkly as she stared at the winged wolf, planning to punch him first. They turned, walking into a cave and she was dropped on the ground on her tail, her legs awkwardly crossed over the other.

"Ow...hmm?" The fawn looked up to see a sickly wolf and after hearing the goblin translate for her, her reindeer ears wilted. Well that explains what happened to the village...

'Poor creature...' She can understand of losing someone important. Okay, not everyone in this village needs a punch. The red-head turned to where the dark wolf stood and nodded. She stood up from her spot and cleared her throat.

There's one song she can sing...she didn't know what the lyrics meant nor could she ask her mother about them since she was the one who taught the song to her; but...if it can calm the shaman's soul then she's happy to oblige and share this song with him.

Echo opened her mouth and sang, closing her eyes as she remembers the strange lyrics like it was second nature to her. It sounded calm, soothing even as she poured her care for the sickly wolf in front of her. Any plants nearby, the wolves and goblin will notice, are growing at a faster rate then they have ever seen. Flowers blooming like it was dream...

The old wolf sighed contentedly and for some strange reason, the blackened leg began to slowly grow fur.

"Wuy, grahiba!" cried the black wolf in that guttural speech, staring at the cursed wound in shock and padded over to sniff it, then he glanced at Echo as though she was some kind of miracle-maker. He made a commotion, calling and barking at the others outside.

The winged wolf heard this and looked back, alarmed. With a last look at Lydia where he growled, pointing at the dress snarling, "Gamita.", he bounded off to his calling brother.

The dwarf women sighed in relief, then the big boned one began to sort of mime-lecture Lydia about needing to wear the dress or she will be punished by the wolves.

In the elder wolf's room, more wolves began to come in, including the alpha wolves to see what was going on. Echo's singing was very slowly making the blackened leg better and that was what the bee hiding in Lydia's ear told her in James' voice.

Likewise, a buzzing inside Echo's thick garment was whispering very quietly that Lydia was safe for now.
