Roleplay Skittle
Eternally Awkward
Lydia only offered James an affectionate nudge with her elbow accompanied by an amused little giggle because they were in such close quarters with relative strangers that she didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable by telling James that she liked how he looked when he was happy but embarrassed so that it was actually too bad it was dark.
Not talking was easy enough for Lydia because she was so used to it and it was even enjoyable for her with James there. She wasn't so sure she wanted to be squirted with ink, it seemed kind of messy given the circumstances and inevitably the heat in the steel ball would start to build up with all the bodies inside and it just sounded like something she didn't want to deal with so she declined to try the pai sho game but was completely willing to battle anyone in chess and celebrated her wins just as gracefully as she rued her losses.
She was curious about Ymir, wondering if she knew Johnny or if she was related to him since he did have a very large family, but she was the one that suggested that everyone try not to talk because talking, laughter, anything like that was bound to use more air than just breathing and being silent. She was also curious about James' book. She wasn't very much interested in mystery novels typically, but this one had an amusing title so when James brought out the parchment and began communicating with runes, she used the most lesser form of her light spell and her finger to respond, her own runes glowing a soft white as she asked him questions about what he was reading.
She was relatively delighted when he would ask her what the proper rune for something was, not because she was glad that she knew something he didn't, but because she was happy that he was comfortable enough to ask her. She had come to an understanding that boys typically liked to be smarter than girls, it was how she was raised. To be pretty to look at and be a good hostess, but never to appear more intelligent than her beau. And her beau he was, that much was evident by the sweet lyrics and compliments he was currently paying her which she never thought she would be on the receiving end of and in her own fashion responded by writing: 'L & J' inside of little hearts in random places on the parchment or 'A day without James is like a day without sandwiches,' she responded to James' greetings with things along the lines of, 'hi handsome, how's the best guy under the sky?' accompanied by a little caricature of an owl couple snuggling.
Any jokes James made were responded to by a little giggle that ended in a snort whenever she tried to stifle it and she really did try, she appeared like a little kid joking in class behind the teacher's back and even though she wasn't an artist, her favorite thing she drew was a tiny little owl that she drew a little arrow to and wrote 'Sasha' at the opposite end because she missed the little owl and she bet that James did too.
She felt a bit bad for Jao since he seemed to have a big problem being still and occupying himself with something else but all she could really do was offer an apologetic smile and mouth the words, 'I'm sorry,' every time he looked at her accusingly. The sooner they could get out of there the better, she didn't want him to harbor a great deal of resentment towards her just because she had tried to help the group do what was best for them.
When the second day rolled around and everyone started to become annoyed with Jao, while she didn't know if it would help since he was evidently declining to do anything that anyone else had for entertainment but she quickly wrote on a separate parchment from the one that she and James were communicating on that she could teach Jao to weave with thread if he needed something to concentrate on because she had brought the embroidery thread she had been making bracelets with with her since it was light weight and required attention. If that offer didn't work, she used a trick her brothers taught her and folded a little basket out of paper and made a few small balls out of another piece of parchment before using one of the bracelets she made to create a slingshot by using her thumb and index finger to stretch the bracelet and showing Jao that the point of it was to use the slingshot to try and get the little balls in the basket. She hoped that it worked because she didn't want to see anyone fighting since that would use more oxygen than just talking.
