Colby Brook

Colby was relieved that his singing didn't bother her-- but she actually liked it, which surprised him. Colby returns the smile and the blush falls from his cheeks now. Colby watches as she lies beside him and he blinks in response. "Well... thank you." Colby then began to strum his guitar again and slowly began to sing again with a soft tone.

She smiles at him as he thanks for enjoying his singing before hoping he'd continue, "You're welcome.", she softly said in response and gets herself into a more comfortable position. It was nice listening to the human sing and seemingly about how good the world was, with all of its nice surprises that came along for the ride. There was a fair amount that she didn't fully understand but his voice was what she enjoyed listening to, no so much the words that came from it and she was content to just listen for a while.

Colby Brook

Colby sang for a bit longer before stopping with a few more strums of his guitar with a soft smile plastered across his face. Colby's blue gaze looks over at him and, for some odd reason, he felt some warmth creep onto his face. "I usually never get to sing to anyone... or no one really bothers to listen." Colby ran his free left hand through his hair.

As Colby tells her that he did not normally get to sing to others, like really sing as he was now and enjoy it, she frowns in response. He didn't have a bad voice, not for a human that is and so she couldn't understand why no one would want to stop and listen for a little bit, "I like your singing." She smiles more before looking at the thing that was making the music, "What do you call this thing?"

Colby Brook

Colby chuckles lightly, "I'm glad you like my singing. I really do appreciate it." Colby smiles but his expression changes a bit when she asks about his guitar. "Oh, this? This is a guitar," he replies slowly. Colby lifts the pick and ran it across the strings for it to produce some music as it had before.

She smiles widely as Colby enjoys having an audience to like his music and nods her head a little bit, ready to just lay there for a while for his music. When he answers her question to what the device is, she gets a little closer to inspect it more and finds it interesting that the shiny strings can be so easily picked at. "Do you have other people that listen to your music?", she asked curiously before looking to the human's face more directly now.

Colby Brook

Colby blinks at her when she asks that question and now looking directly at him. Colby then replies, "not really. Sam reads some of the songs I write, but he doesn't listen to me sing." Colby's eyes look away for a moment and then look back but don't say anything. His cheeks had a light, pink pigment to them now.

"Why not?", she asks him with curiousness, "I think your singing is good and it should be enjoyed.", his voice being smooth though soft in its volume and thus making that he had talent. While he was no grand caster of his voice to be heard for miles, as a dragon could do with their calls for love, he had a nice start to going for what humans could probably do.

The mention of Sam seeming to be the only one that reads the songs but not actually listening to them causes her to frown, "He doesn't sound like a very nice friend.", she says before gently putting a paw onto his foot.

Colby Brook

"I'm not comfortable singing around certain people. I care about Sam a lot, trust me. I just don't want him to hear me sing. He wants to listen to me, but I just..." Colby sheepishly shakes his head. "He is a good friend. He's my best friend. Nothing can change that," he says lightly. Her putting a paw on his foot makes him blink at her and bites his lower lip but stays quiet again.

Her head tilts in confusion as Colby clearly cared about Sam and he didn't feel comfortable singing around him, when dragons had a passion for something and wanted to share it with their friend...they did so. Humans were strange, letting their insecurities dictate of where their enjoyment was done and with who. She looks down a moment as to try figuring out why someone who was best friends with someone else would be unwilling to share their passion, or why the 'best friend' would not ask to have that love of a hobby shared with them.

"If you say so Colby, I still think you should share with him...or at least ask him for the chance.", she said upon looking back up at him.

Colby Brook

Colby bites her lower lip for a second and spoke, "I'll get more comfortable sooner or later, or until, I get better at singing." Colby ran a hand throughout his hair as he usually would and his blue eyes darted away for a moment.

Her head nods some, "Alright then.", she looks to the golden retriever that had been the only other member in the 'audience' and he seems just as content as she was to listen.

"So, other than hanging out in your cave or maybe doing whatever you do outside of it, what else is there?"

Colby Brook

Colby lightly nods, "well..." he bites his lip again, "I'll show you what else there is." Colby gets up.

~time-skip~

Colby was resting on the couch and was strumming his guitar and looking at a sheet of paper where he had written one of his new songs. He had a pencil gripped in his mouth as he thought. Bud was rolling around on the carpet with a squeaking toy in his mouth.

One month later...

During the time of having to learn more about the human world and hoping to see her mother for a visit, the dragoness had been learning more about herself during this time. She had begun figuring out how to shape-shift as to make living with Colby easier to manage, able to do things on her own without having to ask her friend for everything. In learning how to gain at least a half-human and half of her true self in form, she was able to entertain herself better for when Colby had to leave for grocery shopping or errands in general.

She had grown more comfortable around the human as time had gone on, not feeling so timid in asking him for help with something or knowledge of what something was. It helped a lot with their conversations to when she could use the correct terms of things, such as learning that his 'black thing' was called a truck and learning that when it was 'angry' was just the normal noise that it made. Knowing how to operate the microwave, first learning its proper name and the other appliances with it, had helped in letting her make something for herself to when she was hungry.

Colby had also taught her how to wash dishes so she could help with that chore and not leave the sink piled up due to lack of knowing what to do with them. Some might see her doing house chores as a means of indentured servitude but that wasn't how she thought of it at all, she was just doing her part to help out since she could not go out to earn money. Plus, it helped with her 'boredom' of not having anything really to do as since it was not safe for her to go out flying around in broad daylight and doing so at night was just as risky.

Bud had gone from just the dog of the house that she tolerated to a bit of a companion when it was just the two of them, amused by his rolling on the carpet with a squeak toy in his mouth. For now, she laid on the floor in her true form as to take a break from practicing her magic to shape-shift and smiled over to Colby.

Colby strummed his guitar again and wrote something down on his paper again then returned the pencil to his mouth. Colby had been very happy to have Sargotha with him and was okay with teaching her about everything mostly. Honestly, to him, life was perfect now. How could things change?

Colby glances up from his paper and guitar to her and returned the smile. He then spoke, "the song is finally finished." Colby held up the paper and the smile on his face said a lot.

"Oh yeah?", she questioned with intrigue before going over to look at his song, having learned that human language was pretty easy to understand. His face expressed great pleasure to what he had achieved, "Would you sing it?", her long tail swishing a little from side to side though mindful to not knock anything over in the room.

Colby Brook

Colby smiles a bit, "I'd like to." Bud rolled onto his belly and went to stand beside Sargotha, his tail wagging also. Colby held the paper to rest beside him and he slowly began to strum his guitar and his voice slowly began to sing.

She listens as Colby sings his song for her and finds it very enjoyable, smiling wide as he continues with it.

The words seem to be 'saying' that he wants to express himself but is afraid that he will be rejected, asking to be disappointed gently. Colby was so sweet and had been such a help for her to understand the world of humans, maybe it was because he had been the only male she could interact with or from enjoying his company so much, but she thought there was a bit of fondness developing for him. He wasn't bad looking for a human, she had seen worse through the internet as Colby had explained that she could learn about the world better if he wasn't around that way.

Colby Brook

As Colby finished singing, he strummed his guitar one more time before stopping completely. A smile appeared on his face now. Bud was wagging his tail still and his eyes were half-open. Colby rests his guitar beside him on the couch and he stretches out his arms, "thank you for listening to me..."

"No problem, I quite enjoyed it.", she smiles before standing to her paws and then kissing his cheek, "You're better than you think you are...really.", she smiles before heading out of the room, "Come on, let's get something to eat."

Colby Brook

Colby smiles with embarrassment and rubs behind his neck with his right hand. Colby's eyes widened a bit more when she had kissed his cheek. He sat there a moment without a word or movement. Colby then shook his head and returned himself to reality. His cheeks were carrying a red-pink pigment now. "I... um... er... yes, let's do that," he stammered and he slowly stood up. "Is there anything you want in particular?"

Her head tilts as Colby seems dumbfounded by her small gesture and suggestion to just get something to eat, about to ask him if he was okay to when he responds with a question of his own. Her shoulders shrug before saying, "Not really, but maybe a nice hamburger with everything could be good...I really liked the way that you made it last time.", she smiles wide at the memory of a juicy meat that was without the fuss of hunting down a prey then having to kill it with fur to deal with before getting to the meat.

Colby Brook

Colby nods a bit, "I could make a few." At the mention of hamburgers, Bud barks, and his tail wags. "You too, Bud. They'll be ready soon." Colby gets everything out that he needs and sets to make some hamburgers. Humming all the while.

She changes herself into the anthro shape that she had been practicing with, enabling the ability to help Colby if he wished.

Of course, this leaves her completely naked as well with all of her womanly parts showing without thought of it, "Is there anything I can help with?"

Colby Brook

Colby glances at her and uneasily looks at the wall and around the kitchen. Colby grabs the apron that was hanging upon the wall and hands it out to her, still looking away. "Could you just..?" Colby's other hand was braced behind his neck and he was biting his lower lip.
