Somehow, the gentle rubbing comes to be soothing and whether it's just from wanting to be close to a warm body, not wanting to feel alone or from being grateful to having Colby give her shelter, she just sits there to take it in. His soft voice has the meaning to be reassurance that she would be okay and everything would work out, but she can't help but to feel not so sure of that. Despite the dog not liking her to start with, understandable as she was new to what he had known to be normal for likely some time, she is a bit surprised that he comes to comfort as well. The dragoness welcomes the dual sided offer of comfort for what was to start a whole new part of her life, one that she cannot imagine to how much that would change.

Colby's humming catches her off guard and she raises her head to look at him with a quizzical look for a moment, before deciding that this must be how humans offer reassurance to someone or something that is upset. He sounded nice, for a human that is, she smiles before leaning back up against him for what she wanted for until she was ready to leave his side.

His question of the necklace causes her to raise a paw as to rub over it a little, only now registering that she had something from her mother as not only remembrance but to help her fit in with the human world. "I guess, it's supposed to help me with using whatever magic I have...but...I don't know if I even have any, not sure what it feels like.", she sighs before adding, "Other than...I suppose...maybe it's what I felt when my mom was nearby, or just somehow knowing she was there."

Colby also felt as if his own worries were being swept off from him. As his nightmare, he had recently... about his parents being in the fire that had wiped them away. Colby spots her to give him a baffled look of his humming. Colby usually sang alone anyway. Maybe her being here may not be so bad? There were still his friends to worry about. They would sometimes show up without any notice or even let him know.

Colby nods to her deeply about the necklace. "Well, at least you have something to remember her by, huh?" Colby bit her lower lip and shifted his position to sit down instead of kneeling down. "Whatever magic you have, I hope you'll come to understand it."

Colby then froze when he heard a gentle knock at his door. It wasn't aggressive or anything of those sorts. "Colby..?"

Sam.

"I don't know if you're home or not... but I just want to talk. Whatever is wrong... I want to help you. I miss you, Colby."

Colby's blue gaze was glued to the door in silence.

She continues to sit with him and let her head be rubbed over, starting to feel a little better about staying with the human.

When he comments that she had something to remember her mother by, other than precious memories now, she nods her head in agreement, "Yeah...I just hope she doesn't spend too much time away from me." There was time yet for her to learn of any magic she might have, she just had to be patient and hope that the wait wouldn't be too long. "I haven't the slightest idea of what magic I might be able to do, mother was generally busy making sure I was safe and so there wasn't much time to teach me much of anything.", her head hung a little at the thought of how she and her mother had only gone hunting a couple of times, ventures that were short lived due to humans.

Another knock came on the door and at first, she had hoped it was her mother returning with news that they didn't have to be separated after all, but the clearly male voice was not her. Her quick hope turned into fear as one of Colby's friends had come without announcing themselves, as her now guardian had warned about upon her first night here and she looked to him. The human's reaction of the other voice leaves her not knowing what to do and she didn't want to whisper at this close proximity, worried that the other human would hear her.

Colby Brook

Colby's hands trembled now. His voice got scarcely low as he whispers to Sargotha, "it's Sam..."

"It's just... it's not like you not to answer me for this long. What's kept you so busy?"

Colby could feel tears brimming in his eyes. He missed Sam too.

"I... guess I'll come by later then..." Sam's shadow was still standing outside. Sam pressed his forehead against the door for a long moment, hoping Colby would answer him.

If it was someone that Colby knew and she could tell that the pair were close, she was not going to interfere as long as she could help it. She did not want her guardian to isolate himself just for her sake and if he was friends with this human, then he surely must be good. Softly and slowly, she stood to her feet before whispering into Colby's ear, "Let him in, after I hide...I won't keep you away from your friend...you didn't keep me away from my mother." With what she felt having been said, she slips off to the spare bedroom with quiet footsteps as she tip-toes onto her paws to hopefully not be heard by Sam.

Colby Brook

Colby's blue eyes widen a bit from her words but he slowly dips his head. Colby watches her walk into the spare bedroom. Colby could hear Sam walking away, Colby sprang up and opened the door. "Sam! Wait! Come back!"

Sam halts and goes back over. They spoke back and forth for a bit and Sam just welcomes himself into Colby's apartment. Sam sits down on the couch and Colby sits beside him. "So, what've you been doing?"

"Just been busy."

"Are you hiding something? Colby, you know you can tell me anything, right?"

"What? I'm not hiding anything."

"Is it a girl?"

Colby face-palms lightly. "No." Colby felt a bit bad hiding a dragon from Sam-- but he knew he'd just flip out anyway.

She keeps herself hidden in the back corner of the spare bedroom for now, though she felt safe with Colby...she did not feel the same as to with his companion, at least for now. Her whole body is tightly curled as far as possible as to remain quiet and out of any peripheral sightline, it was this moment that she wished she knew how to use any magic...even if it was a simple illusion or invisible spell...something to assure that she stayed unknown to Sam.

Colby Brook

Sam bit his lower lip and his eyes skimmed around the room, trying to find anything different. "You don't mind if I search around, do you?" Colby's heart skipped a beat. He really had to ask that?

"What? Pfft. No, I don't mind."

Sam nods and stood up. Sam walks around, starting in Colby's room first. He was nervous...

She remained in the spare bedroom and curled herself as tight as possible, maybe she could pose as a statue if she were discovered.

However, she is nervous to what Sam would do if he found her and a bit upset that Colby gave him permission to look around, though doing the opposite would clearly have prompted the other human to look regardless.

Colby Brook

Colby sat there on the couch, watching Sam look about freely. Sam then stood back in the room where Colby was and his dark blue eyes then looked at the guest room door. Sam opened his mouth to speak but he just went straight into the room. Colby roughly gripped the couch he was sitting on. His heel then tapped against the floor with anxiety.

Sam walks in, his eyes looking around him. Sam then spots her. He stares for a long moment then spoke. "Nice statue, Colby," Sam comments and turns around to go.

Sam did find her and she absolutely froze, doing the best job possible that her mother had taught to do.

Very slowly, steadily, she let out her breath and yet her heart was racing in her chest...thoughts only of prayer that he believed her bluff. Fortunately, the human did believe she was nothing more than a statue and he began leaving the spare bedroom but she did not move or speak to falsify her 'disguise'. It is only when Sam is completely out of the spare bedroom that she lets herself breathe a little more normally but remains absolutely quiet, daring not to move in any way now.

Colby Brook

"Well, seems you aren't hiding anything. I'm going to go now, you take care, Colby," Sam rubs Colby on the shoulder with comfort and leaves.

"You too, Sam. Bye," Colby watches him leave and waits a minute or so to speak again. "He's gone, Sargotha." Colby heaves a sigh.

There is relief as Sam leaves the two of them but she still does not move nor speak, wanting to be sure that the human was absolutely gone. It is only when Colby comes to let her know that they are safe that she raises her head and lets a heavy sigh of relief out along with him, "Phew...that...was...close.", they may need to find a way of getting warning of his unexpected visitors in the future.

Colby Brook

Colby nods, "agreed." Colby gets up and leans against the guest room door. "There has to be some other way..." he murmurs. Colby bits her lower lip for a few seconds, not sure what to do. Bud tilts his head. Well, it's a good thing that Bud didn't blow Sargotha's cover.

She looks to Colby before responding, "Maybe...maybe in time...I would feel more confident with meeting your friends, but, just not right now.", it was just too soon to try trusting even his closest friend. There had been no thought of the dog indicating she was not a statue, not in the slightest but she certainly would be glad of it as well if it were on her mind.

For now, they had the rest of the day to figure out what to do and given that she was well...a dragoness with no real magic ability as of now...she couldn't leave his apartment without risk of being discovered.

"You can go lay down for a while now, you didn't sleep at all...I can wait for food.", she offered him.

Colby Brook

Colby nods with a clicking sound with his tongue. Colby gives her an apologetic look, "I'd like to rest. But aren't you hungry?" Colby straightened his posture a bit and ruffles through his hair with his right hand.

Her head nods before answering, "I am...but, do you have anything here for me?", she had eaten all of the fish he'd given her last night before bringing her home without a problem...though satisfied enough to take the edge off, that kind of feeding likely wouldn't last all day.

Colby Brook

Colby hums to himself in thought as he turns about to head to his small kitchen. "I should have something," he says, more to himself. Colby then opens up his fridge and found some chicken. Colby puts some on the plate then he proceeds to heat it up in his microwave. Colby waits, humming one of his songs again. He then takes the kitchen out and puts it on the small coffee table. "Try that. I'm going to go and get some rest," he says with a yawn.

The human hummed nicely and it helped with the 'emptiness' of not having the woods to listen too, she follows him to the kitchen as to wait for whatever food he might come up with for her.

His offered meat is small but it would probably get her by until dinner time and he could get some rest, that he so needed. She watches as the meat is put into something and another kind of 'humming' is heard, causing her head to tilt a bit in response. The strange box wasn't a campfire and yet, she can imagine that it is something of heat making...why else would he put the cold meat in it? A new sound is made and it comes from the strange box, 'Humans are so strange.', she thinks to herself before taking the offered snack, "Thank you."

Her head nods as he says that he was going to go try taking a nap for a while before resuming to eat the chicken. "I hope you get some rest.", she smiles to him with genuinity in her voice.

Colby Brook

Colby nods, "thank you, as well." Colby locks the front door so there wouldn't be any outbursts- just in case anyway. Colby then flops himself onto his bed for some sleep. Colby just hoped he could go through his nap without any bad dreams.

Bud watches Colby go and looks at Sargotha with his tongue hanging out the side of his maw and his tail thumping gently beside him.

She smiles as he thanks her in return and is glad that he locked the door. Now that there is no more worry of anyone just barging in on them and she only has Bud as company, she is content to just lay on the floor.

- small time skip for now -

Colby Brook

Colby had woken up and was just lying in his bed quietly. Colby leans up a bit, seeing his guitar in the corner. Colby also spots the time and he slept for a good couple of hours. Colby gently picks up the guitar and the guitar pick. He plays over it a few times and plays it while humming lightly. Colby then sang a bit while he was genuinely content with his voice and the music.

OOC: Good idea.

Sargotha had spent the last couple of hours looking outside and observing the human's home with curiosity of what everything was, wondering to how it all worked. Of course, she had found a bit of entertainment in playing with Bud as he seemed quite insistent as to bringing her a ball and dropping it in front of her, or nearby. Initially, she had just batted it away but he always returned and it had become a bit of a game that she let herself enjoy for a little while. He had brought a rope and tried to get her to grab on, or so she presumed but she really did not want to share germs with him on that level.

In hearing something being played from nearby, she is drawn towards it with curiosity and it is soon revealed that it was the human Colby. She had heard him humming before and it sounded nice, but now she could hear actual words to go with music...something she had not experienced before, other than to when her mother hummed or sang a lullaby for when she had a nightmare. The dragoness goes to his room and quietly approaches as to not disturb him, before taking up a place on the carpet as to hear him perform.

Colby Brook

Upon Bud also hearing Colby's voice, the golden dog follows her with his tail a-wag. Bud then stays beside her, panting quietly.

It took Colby about a minute to notice she and Bud were in the room. Seeing them, he stopped with a somewhat embarrassed expression plastered across his face. "I... um... sorry if I'm bothering you with my... singing." Colby had some blush on his face.

When Colby apologizes for his singing and was unprepared for an audience to form, she simply shakes her head before responding, "No...no, you're not bothering me at all." She smiles at him before coming closer and laying down before him, "I like it...it's better than the emptiness of not hearing birds chirping in the forest.", she was used to 'background noise' and to not have it...it was an uncomfortable feeling.
