Colby Brook

Colby also found it hard to sleep but eventually fell into a slumber but woke up gasping and a scream, Bud jumps onto the bed to comfort him. "It... I... had a nightmare... again..." Colby has his left hand on his chest and right to support him while he was leaning up. Colby sighs and was still gasping for air; his back was drenched in his sweat. His nightmares seemed to be getting worse by the minute and there was nothing he could do to stop them.

The human scream wakes her from sleep and it was such a horrid sound that she doesn't dare to go investigate, mother had taught her to stay still when she hears something unknown to her. A lesson that turned futile upon trying to avoid getting found by Colby to start with and now she was in his cave for shelter, looking to the small...glass...that allowed light in, dawn was just starting to come. She didn't feel very rested but she can't help in wondering if her mother would be at the cave looking for her or maybe on her way there right now! Mother often left early in the morning, after making sure she was safe and fed for a while, before returning after a while with something for their dinner...at least...until last night.

Slowly, she stands to her paws and pokes her head out of the bedroom in uncertainty before listening again for the human, only to hear him talking to someone...or maybe, he was talking to his dog? Again, she listens for another voice but there is none to follow for a response and the only two other scents she can detect are Colby's and his canine companion. "Colby?", she softly asks for him though is reluctant to leave the room she had used for the night, just in case there was someone else in the cave.

Colby Brook

Colby looks up a bit to hear Sargotha's voice, he had stayed awake all night. Scared, to let the nightmare take him beneath its wrath. Bud had fallen asleep on Colby's lap to comfort him. Under Colby's eyes were dark and he looked a bit terrible honestly. Colby slowly got up without waking up Bud and stood outside her door, peering at her, "yeah..?" Colby sighs lightly, "did you sleep okay..?" From the looks of him, he looked like he hadn't gotten any sleep whatsoever. He still looked damp in his chest as he had to take his shirt off from how warm he had gotten.

The air is heavy with the pheromones of sweaty stress and it is mixed with the human's own, she didn't remember hearing him being super active before waking up.

As the human answers her and she can see that he had not slept at all, she worried about asking him if he was going to be okay to take the black thing with her in the back. She noticed that the dog was not with him and she assumed that he was either sleeping, or he was occupied with doing something. "I thought I heard something scream and was worried that someone else had gotten into the cave.", slowly she stood more upright and looked at him more directly, "Have you been awake all night?", her voice expressing concern that her presence had changed his sleeping habits, "I tried to be quiet, I'm sorry if I woke you."

She can see that he had been heavily sweating but could not recall that being a normal thing for humans, based on what her mother had told her and this further worries her about Colby offering her shelter for even just one night.

Colby Brook

Colby's eyes quivered at her unsteadily, trying to keep himself calm and awake. He was also searching for words of how to reply. Could he open himself to her? Even Colby's best friend, Sam, didn't know of his awful nightmares. "No one got inside... and yes, I was awake all night." Colby felt a bit bad that she thought she had kept him up. Which she didn't.

Colby knelt down with a heave of a breath, "I only had a nightmare... was all..." Colby spoke as if it wasn't a big deal. But he knew it was, he just didn't want to overexaggerate it.

It becomes more apparent than before that the human was in no shape to take the black thing alone much less with her in the back of it, she hadn't necessarily had a good time in it and was not confident that he could manage in his state. His reassurance that no one had gotten inside of the cave during the night is with confidence and so it helps to ease her a little bit, more so as he kneels before her. He now could put his head against her large chest if he wanted to and the explanation to why he had not slept makes sense but it was worrying all the same, "You should sleep...I can help Bud watch the cave while you do.", she offered to him with hopes that a power nap could help him.

However, before the human could respond, there is the distinct knock at his door and a feminine voice called from the other side, "Hello?"

Colby Brook

"But your mother-" he paused as he heard an unfamiliar voice from his door. "Shit," he murmured. Colby braced his knee and the floor to push himself to his feet, he even struggled to do that. Colby's well-being was not even normal. Colby, though, didn't recognize the voice at all.

Colby panicked slightly and whispers to her, "go back in the room and hide there... I don't know who's at the door..."

Bud barks and bounces up to Colby's side. "Who's there?" he shouts lightly with a still tiresome tone.

As the knock from outside of the cave comes to be heard, she freezes with fear as Colby had not mentioned having a female coming around to his home and he clearly shows that he is more than worried. When she is told to go back into the room as to hide from whoever had come by, she does not hesitate to do as told and curls herself as tight as possible into the corner that is furthest from the entrance point. Bud's reaction is clear indication that this is a total stranger and neither knew to why this unknown female has come to his home.

The voice answers Colby with a calm tone and it is slightly deep for a female, but that sometimes happened when genetics were mixed between parents, "I believe you have my daughter with you, I trailed her scent here. I do not wish to cause harm or damage to your home, I just want to come in and talk.", breaking into the human's apartment would only cause more trouble than it was worth and given what her mission was, anything to risk the safety of her daughter could not be taken. Patiently, she stands outside of the door that she presumes to be locked and waits as she had disguised herself into a human form...something she knew her daughter was unable to do, for now.

Colby Brook

Colby watches her disappear into the room and Bud barks again, a growl lightly escaping his throat. Colby stands in disbelief at the response at the door-- Sargotha's mother was a human? Colby inhales and exhales, then opens the door. Colby was uneasy and hoped what she had said was true. Colby would hate for this to become physical.

As the door is unlocked and then slowly pulled open from inside, she lets a slow exhale of relief out as it meant that the human was not unreasonable and she would not have to try coming back later to take her daughter another way.

What Colby has standing before him is an average built lady that wore plain but effective clothing as to avoid human attention. A simple jeans with a black belt adorned with gemstones was around her waistline, proving to put her on the more curvier side. Both of her feet are wearing greyed tennis shoes from years of use, a light pink t-shirt and a jean jacket to cover the rest of her torso, her short hair only combed so it looked decent. Her light blue eyes are soft though they are focused with only the goal of speaking to her daughter and only entering to when the human gave permission for her to do so.

She took notice of the dog with nothing more than a nod and stood in the center of what she presumes to be his living room, "I imagine that you have doubts to my claim but rest assure you, had I shown up in my true form and even at the earliest hours of dawn, there would have been complications to my visit that neither of us want."

Colby Brook

Colby felt a tad bad now. Colby had taken Sargotha from her original home and her mother shows up as a human, in his own home. Colby appears still stressed and weak- his own blue eyes unsteadily scanning her then looks down at Bud, patting his head to tell him to calm down. Bud then sits, his gold eyes watching the newcomers' every move.

"All right..." Colby ran his right hand through his hair and the other in his pocket. "I'm pretty sure you want Sargotha back, right?" His eyes looked down for a moment then retraced them to her with a broad expression. "I hope I didn't cause anything here by letting her stay here for the night... my only intention was to let her have a place for the night..."

As Sargotha listens to the obvious female that had been allowed entrance to the cave and even claimed to be her mother, she refuses to come out of the room that she had taken shelter to. Her mother was no human, she was a mighty and powerful dragon that she aspired to become as to when she was older! There is temptation to run out and chase the imposter away, to tell her that her real mother would devour her alive for pretending to be a creature of might and magic. However, as she laid there and listened...smelled with her powerful sense of the nose...she starts to detect a faint trace of something, something familiar in a way.

The woman looks to Colby with a smile before responding, "I have come to visit her, yes...that is why I need her to come out of that other room.", she looks directly to the place of where her daughter was taking refuge. She had never shown the ability to change into a human form with her daughter and she did that to discourage any ideas of leaving the forest to try knowing a world that did not comprehend magical creatures existed alongside of them. A world that had continued to encroach and thus force her to go further in finding food, a travel that has only produced enough for herself this time and to return empty to a hungry young one would be cruel.

Softly, she calls out to her daughter, "Sargotha, daughter of Dyan and Sear Chimeric, I compel you to come to me.", while no magic was actually used...the tone of voice used could have that same effect.

Upon hearing her name and parents names being used, with a direct 'order' to come out of hiding, she knew that this woman was not faking the claim to being her mother. Slowly, the dragoness comes out of the room and looks to the only other female in the cave with disbelief clearly registering on her face, "M-mo-mother?", she is confused as to why her mother was not as her true self and how this was possible.

Colby Brook

Colby uneasily bit his lower lip with a nod, not sure what to make of this situation in the slightest way. Colby glances at the room Sargotha was in and saw her peer out, to what he was told to be, Sargotha's mother. Colby watched things unfold though, he honestly really hoped that none of his friends would come bursting through his front door. That's what he really, badly hoped the most. He wouldn't know how to explain it.

Colby stepped back a step, his blue eyes looking at Sargotha then back at the woman in silence.

Dyan

She can see that her daughter was confused and conflicted of how to feel, this comes as no surprise given the situation that they found themselves within. A gentle smile continued to stay on her face and she motions for the young dragoness to come to her, being pleased more as her daughter obeyed. Slowly, she knelt down and took the dragoness' young face into her hands before speaking, "I know that you are confused to why your mother is not of the great winged creature you know but it is of great importance that I am not." It was going to be hard to ask of her daughter to stay with a stranger, beyond a simple night but she understood far better than the inexperienced dragoness.

Sargotha

As she approaches the woman that was her mother, she can't help but to be all the more confused to what was going on and before she can say what she is feeling, her mother knows all too well. Her head tilts even more as her mother says that it was important that she not showed her true form, not now...but, maybe when they were back home and things were back to normal? "Mother...I know I disobeyed you...I'm sorry, but...but the cave was so lonely...so empty without you.", her eyes welled with tears a bit before nuzzling into those gentle but firm hands for comfort and reassurance that she was loved.

Dyan

"Sargotha, I am not angry with you...in fact, I am pleased that you survived a night without me.", she smiles more before giving her daughter a gentle kiss on the forehead, "I know that I have always told you to avoid humans and not bother with their things, but I can see that their world is coming into our own by the day." It was going to be the hardest thing to do at this moment but she knew that she must, for the safety and survival of her young one, "I could not successfully hunt for you and myself, the time of us being ourselves is growing short and there is not enough to teach you of how to survive without learning the ways of humans." Gently, she brings her daughter's head into her chest as to let her hear her gentle though strong heartbeat, "This human took you in and gave shelter to when he could have turned away or gathered more humans to harm you...he is good."

Sargotha

She is relieved to hear that mother was not angry with her but was very happy instead, the gentle kiss was very much a relief and it was a way to soften news of something. While her mother explains to having seen changes in the world and to why she had not returned to the cave last night, it made sense and it worried her of what the future would bring...but, but maybe it was just a bad hunt day? This seems to be less likely of a truth as her mother explains that their living together would seemingly have to change in the way it was done and she couldn't imagine anything different than what they had. As her head is repositioned by mother's human arms and brought to hear that soothing heartbeat, no matter the form, she begins to think that mother had come for more than a visit.

Colby watch them but his own mind was worried a bit. Has her mother not come for only a visit? His blue eyes look away and he leans against the nearest wall to him and ran his free hand throughout his hair. Colby the thought of his best friend again... Sam. Colby normally couldn't go an entire day without seeing him since they were so close. Colby wondered about what Sargotha's mother was thinking or planning, honestly. He wasn't sure but this seemed like a mother-to-daughter discussion, so he decided not to eavesdrop on them, since that'd be considered rude.

Dyan

She looks to her daughter again before finally speaking, "Sargotha...I am asking you to stay with this human, if he will allow you to."

Sargotha

Her eyes widen in surprise and a bit of shock, her mother was asking her to stay with a human...she, she had told her to avoid them by any means necessary! There is great confusion in her eyes and she looks up to her mother with a agape jaw, just utterly stunned for words at this point.

Dyan

The reaction is what she had expected before petting over her daughter's head again, "You need to be taught the world of humans and their things, I can't do that.", knowing that Sargotha would fear never seeing her mother again, she gives her a tight hug with both arms, "I am not abandoning you, I will come to visit as to make sure that you are well and surviving. It is too dangerous for us to live together anymore, there are hunters that seek us out and the magic I possess will draw them to you...I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you."

Sargotha

She remains silent and still stunned at the request, how...how could her mother not protect her anymore?

Colby Brook

Colby felt a light, quiet vibrate from his pocket-- his phone. Colby reaches and pulls it out-- Sam. Colby sighs and puts the phone back into his pocket. He hopes he isn't hurting his best friend's feelings at all by not replying and saying he's busy at the moment.

Colby's blue eyes shift to look as he overheard Sargotha's mother say that Sargotha could stay with him. Well, that's unexpected. Colby was okay with her and was interested in her. But... her living with him? Maybe he could how his good friends that she was friendly and would need to keep their mouths shut..? Colby sighs.

Dyan

She sighs in realizing that her daughter is taking the news quite hard and is unable to process what she's being told, she couldn't leave her like this. There is one last resort and she did not want to have to use it, but there seemed to be no other alternative. Softly, she kisses her daughter's forehead before beginning to hum what seemed to be a song in a language not of human and as she did so, her daughter's mind was being shown as to what Dyan had seen in her travels. The mental journey took her daughter from the cave they called home to the thin forests that surrounded it, what was once an 'ocean' that spread for miles all around. Her daughter was shown great stone structures that had long black lines of earth and yellow markings in the center that spread far over the land, with various motor things moving along them. By the time that the journey is done, she has shown her daughter why she was being asked to stay with Colby and learn the ways of humans through him.

Sargotha

As her mother hums the, 'song of reveal', she is able to fully comprehend at that point and her mind becomes clear from the formerly overwhelming mix of emotions. She also understands that her mother would not use this unless she absolutely had to and she looks to the human disguise, able to see the winged creature beyond it. "Mother...when will you be able to come for a visit again?", she softly asks although she can't help but to expect an answer of uncertainty.

Dyan

"I can't promise when, my daughter, but I will come again...that I can promise."

Sargotha

She hugs tight to her mother and only hopes that she would see her sooner than later, "I love you."

Colby Brook

Colby hears some humming but isn't quite able to understand so he looks away at the wall. Colby wasn't sure what to think, honestly. Colby now thinks that Sargotha is going to be living with him and his blue orbs dart down to pat on Bud's head. Colby watches as Sargotha and her mother seem to be saying their good-byes and lightly he bites his lower lip as he does.

Dyan

It is hard to do this to her daughter, having hoped that she'd have much longer to teach her young dragoness the way of the world in her own time but she must stay strong for both of them. "I love you too sweetheart.", she slowly pulls out what seems to be a thick leather belt from her shoulder strap purse and shows it to her daughter. "I cannot teach you shapeshifting magic in five minutes, but this will help you better harness it and likely learn on your own to do it.", she gently fixes it around the young dragoness' neck. She smiles before hugging her again, "Listen to this human's teachings, for he is now your guide to this new world and do not fear of me not being with you.", she kisses her cheek before slowly pulling away, "I will be closer to you than you think and if you are truly in trouble then you only need to call out."

Sargotha

She hugs her mother as tight as she can without fear of hurting her human form, "I'll be good, I promise.", she rubs a paw over the belt that now looks like a collar on her. "I feel silly wearing this, but, if you say it'll help me then I guess I'll wear it." It hurts to know that her mother would be leaving her but it is a relief to know that she still could call upon her in dire need.

Dyan

She looks to the human now, whom had been standing quiet before smiling and nodding, "Guide her well, I am entrusting you to make sure that she is safe.", she again looks to her daughter and blows one last kiss to her, "Be good, I will be watching." In a slow and painful walk, she heads to the door with a heavy heart but reminding herself that she must do this and time was running out already.

Sargotha

She wanted to beg her mother to come back, to stay with them instead of leaving her here but she knew that it was not to be. There are tears welling in her eyes as she has to watch her mother walk away and leave her with Colby, now to be her guide and caretaker.

Colby Brook

Colby watches as things began to feel sad between the two. His blue eyes look towards Sargotha's mother now who had spoken to him. Colby nods slowly, "I will. You can trust me on that." Colby watches as Sargotha's mother leaves and his eyes are filled with sympathy as he looks to his now dragon.

Sargotha follows after her mother but stops at the closed door, resting a paw on the solid wall and starts to cry in already missing her mother. Slowly, she sits down on the floor and wishes that humans would understand that the world did not belong to them completely. There had been nothing more she wanted than to just have her mother to snuggle up against during the night or to share a meal with her, maybe just a run around in the forest even. "It's not fair.", she said with a cracked voice and hung her head down so that her tears would fall onto her front paws.

Colby Brook

Colby felt bad. His blue eyes gazed down as Bud whimpered sadly as if he could sense Sargotha's pain. Colby goes over to her and knelt down beside her. "It's all right..." he tried to find the correct word to use. "I know how it feels... at least you know she's safe." Colby had lost both his parents when he was younger but hated to talk about it. But now seemed like he should. "I lost both of my parents to a fire," he mutters to her. Colby lifts a hand to rest on her head, shakily.

As the human came to her side and offered comfort for her loss, she continues to cry as it felt like she'd just had her mother ripped away after just reuniting. Despite how sad she felt, she knew that he was right in the fact that she knew now that her mother was safe and she would keep her promise to come visit when she could. She just hoped that the visit would come before too much time passed, not that she would forget her mother...just, didn't want to go a long time without her.

When Colby states that he understood her pain, she looks to him in belief that his parents had left him with someone strange too but it was revealed that his loss was genuine, not just an inability to be with his parents ever again. She sees his hand raise upward to rest on her head and right now, she was willing to take any comfort offered. Her head lowers down before she rests her head against him but not bearing her full weight as she didn't want to knock him over, "I feel so lost.", she sobs between shaking breaths. Her tail is curled around herself as to try comforting herself further and it ends up curling around the human as well since he was in such close proximity.

Now that the human was knelt beside her, he could see that the necklace Dyan had given looked like a belt with rhinestones around it and so it could easily be taken as a collar though it had no loop for a leash to attach, but other than that it didn't seem to have much of anything special.

Colby Brook

Colby's eyebrows raised as she rests against him and her tail goes around. He felt awful for her. Colby rubs her head then down and back up again. "It's okay..." he whispers calmly. The Bud goes on over to huddle on the other side of Sargotha, his tail thumping behind him.

Colby hums lightly of one of the songs he wrote to attempt to soothe her but then spots the necklace. "What is that necklace she gave you..?"
