Fantasy High School For The Magically Gifted

Leonidas quickly turned and caught the ice ball. He smirked and made it simply melt and turn into steam. Leonidas chuckled, "That's pretty neat. I sometimes wish I could wield ice powers. But I'm stuck with fire." He shrugged. Leonidas turned around and decided to join in on the conversation with them. "If you want I can teach you how to control fire better." He offered Kirino.

Kirino blinked, watching Alexander toss the ball at the Phoenix and he catch it in return. He had a bit of an odd expression on his visage; one that seemed mixed with both nervousness and amusement at once. The boy looked between two, realizing how they were ironically opposites with ice and fire. He shifted his weight on his arm gently so he could see both of them without turning his head and looked at the Phoenix curiously,"how?"

"Well I am a Phoenix, and at a young age we sometimes have to learn to control ourselves. It took me my entire life to learn to not burn everything in sight and get upset at the smallest things. I can teach you the ways of a true fire wielder. It's pretty fun." He smiled at Kirino. "I can teach you how to use it for good," He made a fire rose appear in his hand, "And how to use it for evil." He smirked and made the fire rose turn into a dagger of fire. Leonidas made it dissipate, chuckling "Don't worry I was just kidding about the last part. I can promise you though that no one will be able to teach you better than me about the art of fire." Leonidas nodded confidently.

Kirino listened to him explain and watched the flames until they disappeared. He thought for a moment about the old grandmother and her 'training', as she called it, and cringed mentally. However, Knowing first hand how dangerous an untamed fire could be, he knew he would be a fool to deny he needed help. It could be nice to learn how to control it, anyway. Kirino gently dropped his hand and gave a light smile, "why not?"

Leonidas looked at the teacher then at Kirino, "Lets ditch class. Trust me, it will help you with learning how to control fire." He smirked. Leonidas nudged Kirino, "We can go practice in the gym or on the field. Trust me, it will be a lot more helpful than this." He gestured to the teacher.

Kirino glanced at the table top with lips parted in thought," I dunno'.." He rubbed the back of his neck as he looked back up at the Phoenix,"...skipping class on the first day.."

Leonidas stood up and whispered, "You need to learn to be spontaneous and exciting and wild like fire." He smirked. Leonidas left class, making it seem like he was simply going to the bathroom. Leonidas waited for Kirino, chilling against the wall as he waited.

Kirino hesitated, looking over at Alexander who seemed to be unresponsive. He twiddled dainty limbs in thought, before huffing a breath of stubborn defeat- he knew it wasn't the best idea, but his curiosity for learning had beaten his morality this time. Curiosity killed the cat. Blue irises rolled slightly as he slipped beneath the table, emerging from it as a small pink cat and sneaking beneath the tables and out of the door when the teacher turned around; The red tips on his two tails being the last thing seen from him in the the class.

Kirino came to an abrupt halt when he was a few feet from the Phoenix and changed back. luckily for him, he had enough energy to shift with his clothes still intact in his human form. He groaned softly, rubbing the back of his head whilst his eyes closed from the slight tinge of guilt he felt.

"Lets go to the field, we can practice behind the bleachers." He gestured for Kirino to follow. Leonidas made his way to the field with the boy, charm speaking anyone who might have tried to stop them. Which consisted of a teacher and a few students. Upon getting to their destination Leonidas turned and smiled at Kirino, "You ready to learn from a master?" He chuckled.

Kirino followed until they reached the area he called the field, keeping a short but distant space between the two. He blinked and looked around, his pupils shrinking into slants when he looked back up at the Phoenix and shrugged softly,"yeah, I guess."

"First lesson, understanding the flame. So tell me, what do you think of when you see fire?" Leonidas asked him, making a small flame appear in his palm. Leonidas made the flame twirl around in a circle. "What does fire mean to you? What is it used for and what purpose does it serve?"

Kirino looked from him to the flame, his brows furrowing in thought. "Well....when I see fire I think of heat, obviously, and the smell of smoke. Fire, to me, is like currency on a scale, it's needed, but must also be balanced out. While destructive, it's lively and It can be used for many resourceful things. If I had to choose its purpose...I couldn't, because I don't know it's purpose."

"It's purpose depends on the context of its birth. In nature fire is used to balance life and death. It destroys so nature can create. With man it can be used for heat and life. Even plants need heat to survive, which comes from the fire of the sun or the molten core of the earth." Leonidas held out the flame as it stopped twirling. "Take it, focus on keeping it that size. Wielding fire is pretty exciting as you most likely know, so keeping it from growing will be tough. Don't worry I am right here so I will make sure things don't get out of hand." He smiled.

I walk out of the classroom to intercept the teacher before she got to them claiming to be hurt to lead her away from the field, and closer to the nurses office. Making sure to go as fast as draconianly possible.

Kirino nodded and took the flame, keeping it steadied in his palm. Blue optics fixated on the fire, almost crossing as he watched it grow and shrink. His lips parted slightly when he kept it at one size for a minute or two, a short and quiet growl escaping when it fluctuated, but went back to the size with slower times between the rise and fall.

"Relax, loosen your muscles and flow with the fire. You need your lower body to be steady but not stiff." Leonidas put a hand on Kirino's lower back to help him. "Remember to breathe. You're doing great." He laughed, impressed with Kirino.

Kirino flinched away when he was touched, momentarily breaking his concentration. He looked back at the fire as it started to rise higher around his palm, focusing back onto its flames and making it shrink, following his instructions thoroughly.

Leonidas chuckled, "Something wrong?" He asked Kirino. He could tell the boy was faltering in concentration. Leonidas took his hand away once Kirino got back into focus. "That's great. How do you feel?" He smiled at his apprentice.

Leonidas made the note turn into molten slag from the amount of heat he inflicted upon it. His eyes now made of fire, Leonidas was growling low. Once the note was destroyed completely he went back to training with Kirino.

"I feel like I'm zoning out," Kirino said bluntly as he stared at the fire. It was after all a calming thing to watch it dance. He flicked his gaze up to the Phoenix with a confused expression when he snapped out of the daze, his brows furrowing upwards, "what was that?" He questioned about the object he destroyed.

Leonidas smiled, "Just some bug, it's nothing big." He reassured Kirino. Leonidas took the flame from Kirino and snuffed it out. "Can you make your own fire? Or do you just manipulate it?" Leonidas asked. He looked down at the boy as he waited for a response.

Justin, becoming bored from the class, decided to go somewhere else. Isolated, so that he could work on strengthening his powers. Well he didn't have anyone to train on...but himself. So he found himself a private and spacious spot. Then he sat down and began to think. He thought hard, trying to influence certain parts of his brain and bend it's absorption of information. It took awhile before he began seeing illusions of himself. Then he moved on to distorting the part of the brain controlling sound.

"I can create it, yes." Kirino lowered his hand, only for a blue flame to erupt around the skin like a glove. "However...putting it out..I cannot do." He waved his hand around slowly, as if amused by the water-like movement a little.

Leonidas nodded, "Some people have problems with that." He walked closer and looked at the fire. "Simple, just drop your hand and let the flame go away." He explained. "You are putting too much thought into it. You are fueling the fire and you think you are suppose to do something special to stop it. When actually you don't need to. It's like riding a bike, you just stop." He smiled.

Kirino listened to him, absorbing the information like a sponge. " I see.." But I don't know how to ride a bike. He stared at his hand blankly before doing a instructed and dropping his hand at his side, the flame flickering for a moment. It stayed, repeatedly flickering on and off for a few minutes, causing him to begin a frown. I'm never going to get this right..A moment after his expression had changed and his thoughts stopped worrying so much on it, the flame died. "Ah.." He lifted and looked at his hand blankly before the realization snapped. The visage of youthful features brightened in excitement and he softly bounced on his toes," it went away!!" He exclaimed giddily, delicate fingers covering his mouth as to stop the smile on his face from widening; happy that he had finally done it. Even though he felt moronic by how easy it was.
