the maestro of mad shit.
Reading Ranin's CS again, I'd say it makes good sense that Levathiel had a hand in whatever plot brought him to the palace in the beginning! Especially when it comes to the parallels of their outlooks - you mention a few times how Ranin's 'duty was drilled into him', which aligns a lot with what Lev's leadership style is like. His way or the highway, really lmfao.I’m now wondering what Ranin’s relationship with Levathiel would be like. Since I want Ranin to be kind of unnerving in mannerisms, if not characters, I’d say Ranin would respect and follow the captain’s orders while the captain just sometimes wonders about him. Maybe he suspects him of being a plant, maybe he was part of the whole plot to train a random kid who might be a royal bastard into becoming the perfect guard, I’d love to develop this idea more.
Following orders is a good way to stay on the commander's good side, so I think the respect would be mutual - I don't think though that Lev would pick up on Ranin's feeling of being trapped into his role. Duty goes first, and all that jazz. It's up to Ranin to decide if he likes the commander, but there wouldn't be any surprise if he did not, since Lev would be partially responsible for the boy's current bandaged position, especially if we say he insisted on that in the first place
Haha love this, Levathiel would definitely not shy away from thinking this, but since he is such a stickler for decorum and class, he would not say such things out loud. Would probably think the boy as "quiet, definitely illiterate, not of his own mind, but a good worker/soldier."Maybe he suspects him of being a plant
