Perhaps a dilution gene? I know they exist...basically means that the color gets lighter. (I like the first one as well plus he has blue eyes like the daughter...I will keep looking though.) We need to remember that he will not look identical...probably not at all or everyone would have guessed he is the father.

Also @StoneWolf18 for my new character, for his backstory can it be that he "mated" with a female before they had a mating ceremony and so when she gave birth she was hidden in forest away form the other clan members. She died during childbirth and My character (I need a name) was too distraught to tell anyone what happened, fearing exile. He buried her and ran back to camp, claiming a creature had attacked thetm and she was carried off. Everyone went searching for her but of course never found her, but someone found her pup (Your character)
