The ride to the party was honestly hilarious. She always enjoyed Everett's company , and with Jordy and the others it was the cherry on top. She almst wished she'd made plans to just ride back with them, but knowing Everett it was probably for the best she uber back with her friend Kat. Plus she didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea about them considering they were still ex's just on really good terms. Like he still compliments her on her Insta good, but will talk to her about other girls he likes too.

She'd somehow strayed from them though once they arrived, and found other people to casually talk to in the kitchen. She was originally looking for a snack, but this was nice. Getting out of her comfort zone, and just mingling with her peers. It was...nice. However she was hoping that she'd see one person specifically tonight. He did say he'd be a bit late since well he was in the game, and picking up drinks. The last things she wanted was to look desperate and lonely when he showed up, so she patiently just hung around random friends in the mean time. She hoped that at the very least Kat would get here soon after reading her text.

Due to the loudness of the music, and all the chatter she didn't notice him approach her until he was already next to her. She turned when she felt the presence of someone close, and her smile instantly brightened when she noticed it was Micha. "Hey!" She chimed cheerfully. She didn't wanna be rude and turn her back to the people she was talking to, but their was a clear shift in her body language and position now that he was there. Let's just say Amy has never been good at keeping her crushes a secret except apparently to the guys she's crushing on. Her friends took the hint and casually just shifted the conversation, to give her a semblance of privacy.

‘If you’re up for it, can always wait’ She laughed. He was teasing her right? Well, she was going to tease him right back “It will have to wait, of course, I don’t have paper.” She stated “But my favourite colour is green. And since you’ve always been curious, keep that one, and figure it out sometime. I Can always wait. She retorted, light-heartedly as she gestured towards his navy-blue crane. Along with whatever he thought of that response the conversation naturally moved on to the topic of discussion she had expected to come up sooner rather than later: her attire. Eloquently put, as per usual, Tavon asked her ‘what her getup was for’. What was it for? She contemplated how best to put it. He didn’t seem to be vexed by it, in fact he still maintained his amicable expression.

He continued, stating that it was unexpected, but not unwelcome. Surprise flickered across her face momentarily before being replaced by understanding. It seemed her costume even made Tav notice her in a slightly different way. They had arrived now, so May found herself with another few moments to consider her answer as they both exited the vehicle. The lake was as beautiful as ever, though only the other perimeter of the gently rippling water was lit by the warm glow of the streetlights and lanterns, as well as the lights of the small boats anchored here and there. She loved how it sounded out here. The gently lapping water was uniform enough to be relaxing but not so much that it was too repetitive. Accompanying it was the singing of the crickets and the rustling of the trees. Her joy was clearly shown in her eyes as they focused on the natural scene around them. As much as she wished she could still be with her own family, she had to admit, the place she had ended up was absolutely stunning.

Feeling his stare, she realised she had yet to give Tavon an answer to his question. “I suppose it’s like a costume” She landed on finally. She sometimes did feel like an alien in disguise, barely passing for human. The ‘costume’ was for the party, but specifically to fit in more with a certain old friend of hers. She had been rapidly making changes in the short time Jordyn had been here. Jordyn had really brought her back in time. She had felt herself ruminating more, she had become more self conscious, she felt less comfortable in her own skin as she tried to distance herself from that memory. “I mean, as far as I have gathered over the years, when someone has an aggregable appearance that is pleasant or at least not jarring…various abnormalities are… overlooked a little bit more readily.” She continued after a beat and then shrugged “Given the way you reacted I assume I did a good job” She stated. It sounded like it should be a teasing joke, but May said it quite matter-of-factly.

“I suppose that’s my guardians influence peeking through...” She said, looking a little glum about the realisation. They were always dressing her up if she was meeting their friends. She shook her head, as if trying to physically shake away the can of worms she’d open in her own head with that train of thought. THIS was different than that, though. This was her choice. She had been careful with the fabric, she had cut off the tags, she made sure nothing was too tight fitting. No this was not the same as being forced into those awful dresses and tights as a child to be paraded in front of adults who belittled her and talked over her.

Realizing she’d been lost in thought she decided to change the topic “Before you get me talking about myself too much...” She said with a chuckle “…tell me more about your life growing up?” She wanted to get to know him better. She wanted to learn something new about her friend. He was good at getting her waffling on, mostly because she felt safe to do so around him. She didn’t want to get into a discussion about her Guardians or her stupid unrequited crush on Jordyn, or their history together.

The clock was almost ticking 5:00 AM when some people left and the room was now the opposite of how it was tonight. Busy, crowded and loud. His neighbors were very dissapointed by the announcement of the party or about the fact that he never actually announced it to them.
His parents were out of town, California or some shit and the only person who bothered him tonight was his stepsister Diamond.
Her fucking shoes, Bentley probably went down the stairs 24 times and those weren't very small stairs. He kept grabbing the wrong ones.
Luckily, there was something invented for that as he went on to do a big line of the white substance in front of him.

He tried moving the party to another room but the people here were either too drunk to move or making out right in front of him. Gross, where was Dahlia?
Bentley kept texting Lia all night but she was too busy doing whatever the fuck she was doing with her new boyfriend. It pissed him off, Byron was never meant to be her boyfriend in the first place though she didn't seem to share that opinion.
Even though Byron was her boyfriend, Byron often leave home and Lia would still be around. They could talk for hours and for Bentley, that was pretty rare with a girl. Most of the time they'd just kiss.

Bentley pushed himself through some people to the backyard, his backyard was big. More like a garden. They had a big pool and little waterfalls made of marble. Bentley had not swam in the pool since he was like twelve so it was easy for him to forget he had it.
There were two people by the pool, one idiot from his team that was passed out on one of the loungers and on the other one was a girl he recognized. Samantha, was it? She looked hot and seemed pretty familiar but he wasn't sure to put his finger on why and how.
'Sam, right?' He came to sit next to her on the loungers, would this mean he'd still get laid tonight? He was sort of hoping Lia would find out, he wanted to make her jealous and there was no better way than with the girl sitting right in front of him. She looked innocent but he knew he was probably mistaking if she was still around. 'You look like you're going to write in your diary about how this party was,' he added jokingly with a bit of a smirk, proud of his own joke. 'I'm Bentley,' he put his hand out. 'The host, actually,' he bragged quickly after.
Bentley fished a half-wet package of cigarettes out of his pocket, a drink spilled all over it so the sompy cigarette was a bit hard to light but he managed. 'You want one?'

Felix

Jordy sighed as she tried to reach Everest, but once more, she got his voicemail. She wiggled her nose nervously as she glanced in Felix's direction.
"Hey Everest, having a hard time reaching you buddy. I'm gonna head over to Cost Cutters with Felix then head over to the party, I'll see you later I guess..."
She ended the call and stepped closer to Felix.
"Mhm~ So he still unreachable..."
she frowned as one of the excited fans shoved her as they walked by, She linked her arms with Felix as she tried not to get separated from him like they did with Everest. She still didn't understand how people could get so rowdy over a game. Especially at the end of the game, people are mad about the home team losing and rival school flaunting their school colors because they won.

"Oh shoot sorry. Hope you don't mind"
She mumbled as she looked uncomfortably around at the crowd.
"Don't want to get separated... How about we get closer to the road so the Uber driver can see us more clearly."
She felt a little awkward about the situation that she was in after she remembered that she just met less than a couple of hours ago, and barely spoke to him. Especially since Everest did most of the talking for all three of them. She heard beeping as they got closer to the road,
"I guess that our Uber is already here..."
She smiled as she opened the car door,
"After you!"
She said to let him enter the Uber first before she entered as well.

She hummed to herself as she scrolled through Tiktok hoping that she didn't look as nervous as she felt being alone with someone who was pretty much a stranger to her. She looked out the car window when the driver said that they had arrived, Jordy couldn't help the puff of air that she let out as she looked at the store and couldn't help but think that she truly was no longer in Los Angeles. The local market reminded her of the mom and pop stores of some of the neighborhoods she stayed in when she was cycling through different foster homes, absolutely nothing like the bright and big super markets thats she used to going to back home.

She smiled at the driver sweetly,
"Sir we'll be right back, is alright if you have your truck open for when we get back?"
Jordy quickly thanked the driver when he said he would keep it open for them as she hopped out of the Uber. Jordy walked with Felix into the before turning to him,
"I'm gonna grab some snacks, I'll meet you in the liquor aisle!"
She said before grabbing one of the baskets and heading over to the candy aisle, She quickly grabbed some milk chocolate hershey bars, some toblerones, some reeses, and a bag of dark chocolate pretzel bark. Satisified with her choices of chocolate, Jordy than grabbed two bags of marshmallows and than to left to scour the aisles for graham crackers, which she found in the same aisle as chips. she grabbed two packs of graham crackers, as well a variety pack of chips in case her cousin wanted something savory instead of sweet.

Jordy looked over her basket of snacks as walked over to the customer service desk of cost cutters, she smiled at the clerk while she took out her wallet. Jordy hand over her "ID" and debit card while talking to the clerk.
"Hey I called earlier about a sixth of barrel, I'd like to make the payment for it as well as the rental fee for a tap please."
She watched as the clerk looked back and forth between her and the ID before scanning back of the card, when the scanner beeped the clerk raised his eyebrow at Jordy before grabbing her debit card and swiping it in the card reader. "Alright... Just need your signature. also don't forget we charge a additional fee of twenty dollars if the tap is returned late." Jordy nodded her head and directed the clerk to the Uber in the parking lot, With that task being mentally crossed off of Jordy's list. She skipped on over to the liquor aisle just in time to see Felix slipping a bottle of whiskey into his jacket.

A
fter who knows how long of talking to Messiah, he'd gone home and left Sam alone at the party. She mingled for a while once she got enough alcohol in her system. Talked to people she knew, people she didn't. Danced, stared at the wall for... longer than she'd like to admit. But eventually the buzz of people started to die down, and Sam found herself bored again. Damn... was it really almost 5 in the morning?

She found herself wandering outside, deciding that exploring would keep her entertained. She definitely didn't feel like going home yet. Sam found herself mesmerized by Bentley's pool. Maybe it was magical, or maybe it was just the alcohol in her system, but she wanted to stay outside by it. It seemed like she'd hardly sat down and pulled out her phone when Bentley sat down next to her.

Bentley seemed very familiar to her... but she didn't know why or from where. Yes, he was somewhat popular, but it seemed like there was something else... Whatever. That didn't matter right now. He cracked a joke, and Sam didn't find it funny.
"Do I seem like the type to have a diary?"
She asked, always having been a bit more sassy when she was drunk.
"Even if I was, I don't think this party is diary worthy,"
she shrugged, smirking slightly.

He intrigued her. Partially because he was hot, mostly because she was drunk, and a little because she wanted to know who he was. When he pulled out the cigarettes, she took one from his hand, then pulled a small yellow lighter from her pocket. One she tended to keep on her. Sam lit her cigarette and took a long, slow, drag.
"I'm definitely open to making a change to the night though. I'm not necessarily sure I want to go home alone, or at all,"
she spoke calmly, the words exiting her mouth as if she'd been practicing all night. She moved closer to Bentley, pressing her shoulder ever so slightly against his.

Micah couldn't help but grin when Amy turned and saw him, her eyes lighting up like he was exactly the person she’d been hoping to see. The way her whole demeanor shifted, like he’d just made her night, sent a quiet thrill through him. He kept it cool, though, leaning casually against the counter next to her as if his heart wasn’t doing flips beneath his calm exterior.

“Hey yourself,” he said, raising his voice just enough to be heard over the thumping music. He let his eyes linger on her for a beat, taking in how her eyes sparkled in the low light, her hair framing her face just right. He slid the bottle he was carrying onto the counter with a soft clink. “Brought the good stuff,” he added with a wink, “figured I’d share.”

Amy’s friends seemed to get the hint, easing their way into another conversation just a few feet away, leaving the two of them with a thin veil of privacy amidst the party chaos. Micah turned his attention back to Amy, enjoying the way she looked at him, a mixture of excitement and something else he couldn’t quite put his finger on.

“You want a drink?” he asked, already reaching for a couple of red Solo cups. “Got a little bit of everything, courtesy of my brother.” He was already pouring, his movements smooth and easy, the kind of practiced confidence that came from too many nights just like this.

He glanced up as he poured, catching her eyes again. “What’s your poison?” he asked, his voice a little lower, a little more intimate, even though they were surrounded by people. “I can make you whatever you want—vodka soda, rum and Coke, or something sweet if you’re feeling adventurous.”

Micah handed her a cup, brushing her fingers lightly as he did. It was a small touch, but enough to send a spark through him. He leaned in just a bit closer, the scent of her perfume mixing with the sharp tang of alcohol in the air.

“Here’s to... unexpected wins,” he said with a playful smile, tapping his cup against hers. “On and off the field.”

Caleb’s eyes darkened with a thrill at the challenge in her words, the flicker of mischief in her gaze drawing him in like a moth to a flame. He watched the way she spun her drink, the way she threw back her hair and flashed that dangerous, teasing smile that promised nothing but a wild ride. For a moment, he just let the tension simmer between them, the air crackling with the kind of electric energy that sent shivers down spines. He leaned in, closing the space between them, his voice a low murmur against the pulse of the music. "Careful what you wish for, sweetheart. You might just get more than you bargained for."

With that, he brushed his thumb lightly along her jaw, his touch feather-light, yet enough to send a shiver down her spine. Caleb wasn’t one to back down from a challenge, especially not one as tempting as Olivia. He could see the flicker of hesitation in her eyes, that brief moment of doubt—like she was on the edge of diving into something dangerous but couldn't quite resist. He leaned in even closer, their breaths mingling, his lips just a whisper away from hers. “If it’s a dark room you’re after, I can give you something better,” he murmured, his voice a husky promise. “But let’s start with something simple.”

And with that, he closed the gap, brushing his lips against hers, soft at first, testing the waters. But the taste of her was intoxicating, and he deepened the kiss, letting it turn into something slow and smoldering, his hand slipping to the back of her neck to pull her in just a bit closer. It was the kind of kiss that spoke of promises of the night to come, a taste of the escape they both craved. When he finally pulled back, he didn't go far, his lips still brushing against hers as he spoke. "Now, tell me, Olivia," he whispered, his voice like a slow burn, "did that live up to your expectations? Or should I show you a few more ways to get lost tonight?"

The majority of the game's duration Felix had been zoning out, yet again. He had no connection to this school, so whether they won or lost made no difference. He'd only snap back into reality when Everest would once again go on about yet another new topic, all of which seemed to give birth to numerous tangents. Towards the end of the game even Everest no longer managed to capture Felix's wavering attention. It was a huge relief that the game was finally over. He'd been running on fumes throughout the entire day and his brain was ready to shut off.

Felix could overheard Jordy struggling to reach Everest who suddenly was nowhere to be seen. He seemed to have just evaporated, vanished into thin air. Great, just great. He must have disappeared amongst all the chaos and commotion brought about by the horde of students. Before Felix was able to bail as well, his arm had been secured by Jordy. He didn't really think much of it. Even Jordy's apology only earned a shrug from him. He was too busy dreading the fact that he had agreed to go to a party. He had no recollection of ever "clicking the consent button" but it was happening, nonetheless.

Had the Uber ride to Cost Cutters been any longer Felix would have probably dozed off in the car. After entering the store they momentarily parted ways, and Felix was headed for the liquor aisle while Jordy shopped for snacks. He pulled out his phone to reply to some messages sent by his friends while he simultaneously scanned the store to see where the security cameras where. To be honest, he did feel bad about stealing from the smaller businesses, just not bad enough to stop him from doing it. Not that it was any sort of justification but at least shoplifting wouldn't risk getting the business owner in trouble with the law. Using a fake ID on the other hand was a whole nother story. Either way, he didn't judge those that chose to use fakes.

Just as Felix pocketed a bottle of whiskey Jordy returned from her snack quest. He rolled his eyes when she grabbed the bottle from him, poking fun at him as she did so. Apparently he was being too obvious with his methods of stealing or something equally nonsensical. Sure, Jordy had seen him nicking the bottle but the important thing was that he hadn't been caught by the store staff. "Oh you making fun of my skills, huh?" He scoffed, feigning being offended by the so called accusations. "This isn't my first time, y'know."

After Jordy had paid for everything and they had left the store, it was time to head to the party at... somebody's house. This time Felix was the one holding the car door open for Jordy. He handed her a 50 to cover the cost of the whiskey and the ride. "Btdubs, you totally didn't notice me taking another bottle." He snorted before adding to his confession. "...But I doubt you wanna grab that one..."

The entire ride Felix was downright jonesing for a smoke break. It was all he could think about. When they had finally arrived at the destination, Felix was barely out of the car when he was already lighting up the cigarette hanging between his lips.

Living in a small town always has its pros and cons, cons. Everyone knew each other, so the news spread like wildfire. Alexandra wasn’t surprised that she learned about Mei’s accident and how it involved Byron, Dahlia, and a guy named Tavon even before the first quarter was halfway done. And the pros, it wouldn’t take long until someone else was the talk of the town, and that night with the football team winning and Bentley’s party going all out because of it, it was just a matter of time until everyone moved on from what happened to Mei.

And most likely already didn’t care anymore as everywhere she looked, people were just enjoying themselves. She and Connor arrived together after the game. It was more than necessary to just let go, even if that meant going to the house of his ex-boyfriend. But she could always bet anything that Bentley would be annoying other people that wasn’t her while he was getting drunk. So for once, she thanked her night would be free for him and Connor and she just could enjoy their night without any disturbance.

Alexandra excused herself, saying that she was thirsty, and headed toward the kitchen. She only hoped that Bentley wasn’t all talk like he always had and had at least something decent to drink, but her search was cut short when she felt someone touching her shoulder and using it for the host, because of the noise Alexandra couldn’t make whose voice it belonged to until she turned around to be face with Diamond. Great

Diamond and she were not exactly the closest of friends, especially after her breakup with Bentley. Sure it hadn’t been the usual way to end a relationship, but who could blame her when the guy was a total ass? But by the way Diamond was talking so casually to her, it was pretty obvious she wasn’t aware it was her all along.
“ “No clue. Haven’t seen him since Connor and I arrived. He is probably busy getting drunk while trying to impress a freshman .”
She said.
“I thought you weren’t coming. The message on the cheer group said you had better things to do than be here tonight, but it seemed you changed your plans.”

The music went up a bit. Trey, who was conspicuously wiping the top of the can with a clean handkerchief he had along, winced. Spica said, "You do not mind this, do you?"

"No. It is fine. It was just unexpected."

Dana said, "Trey is going to act in this year's theater production. Did you know that?"

Spica said, "I believe Trey mentioned it to me."

"It is going to be Bedknobs and Broomsticks! Doesn't that sound interesting?"

Spica said, "Now that you mention it, that does indeed. I will plan to be there to watch!"

"That's what I said."

"Then we should certainly go together for that."

Felix

Jordy smirked as she listened to Felix defend his skills. She led the way to the cashier to pay for everything they had gathered. She thanked him as he held the door open to the car when she was seated in the vehicle. She took out her phone and, texted Olivia and Atlas separately:
“Just got out of Cost Cutter. Where can I find you when I get to the party?”

She smiled as she accepted the fifty from Felix, Hearing his statement she quickly glanced over him. Her nose wiggled as she concentrated on finding the bottle that he had hidden on his person. Her gaze kept dropping down to his pants, and she assumed from his statement that was the most likely hidden area. She was half tempted to search him to see if her theory was correct or not, Before she had even realized it they had arrived at the house where the party was supposed to be happening. She couldn’t help but snicker when Felix immediately jumped out of the car with a cigarette in his mouth that he lit up rather quickly. She thanked the Uber driver who helped her unload the keg from the truck, She sat on the keg next to Felix as the driver drove off. She couldn’t help but wave as he left.
“It’s in your pants right?”
She asked as she pulled her phone once more, and sent a text to her cousin:
“I’m Here, come out and grab the keg! I’m leaving it with my new friend Felix.”

She tugged on her favorite necklace as she got up and looked Felix up and down once more.
“Yeah, it is definitely in your pants.”
She said with a smirk,
“I just messaged my cousin, He is gonna come grab the keg. I’m going to take everything else inside, Hopefully, he won’t talk your ear off like Everest. He can be just as talkative.”
She stated as she grabbed the bags, and headed into the rowdy house with an exasperated sigh, before turning back to look at Felix.
“You better come and find me after… Seriously don’t dip out!”
She yelled over the loud music as she entered the house, Seeing the house was already a bit crowded she tugged on her necklace one more not realizing the chain had snapped. While she walked and asked for directions to the kitchen, she didn’t realize her necklace had fallen off too busy with her task to get to the kitchen.
When she finally reached the kitchen, she put the drinks in the fridge and snacks on the counter. But still kept some of the things she bought in a bag. She sent another text to Olivia and Atlas to let them know she was here at the party, before sending a text to Mei:
“Hey MeiMei~ You told me to let you know if I ended up at the party, just wanted to tell you I just arrived.”

And just like that Amy forgot they were even at a party surrounded by people. Truly ever the hopeless romantic. "Oh really?" She smirked looking at the bag he'd brought in. He'd really meant it when he said he was gonna deliver a good chunk of the alcohol. "Oh wow, tell him I said thank you. Err well everyone should be saying thank you." She corrected herself feeling let that came off a bit weird. Smooth was not her middle name, but she managed, and she'd be even better once she got some of whatever he'd brought in her.

"Hmm I'm a vodka girl, but I also love anything sweet, so whatever magic you can work with that will be fine with me." She chimed placing her finger on one of the bottles. "What about you? Have a drink of choice?" She hummed curiously trying to get to know him a bit better.

Truth be told it wasn't that she loved vodka because it's not like she drank a lot to even know what type of vodka she liked. It's just last time she'd tried rum it made her sick and she's heard enough stories about tequila to know to steer clear of that. Anything so sweet she could barely taste the liquor was honestly what she enjoyed most, even if that's dangerous cause it also meant she had a hard time realizing when too much was too much.

She kinda wondered what Mr. perfect, the golden boy was like when he let loose. She wondered if tonight would be the night, though she didn't get her hopes up on that being the case considering they were still surrounded by their classmates. Just because she liked to pretend they weren't around doesn't mean he was going to.

It's in your pants, Felix repeated in his mind with a quizzical expression on his face, cocking an eyebrow for added effect. Initially he wasn't quite sure what Jordy meant by that until he figured she was talking about the bottle he'd stolen. After the realization hit he snorted in amusement. Unable to stop grinning he shook his head. He held onto his cigarette so he wouldn't drop it before he admitted. "Yeah, among other things! You sure you're not a cop or something?" As tempting as it was he chose to skip the obvious and vulgar 'No, I'm just happy to see you' reply. When Jordy was headed for the house and was no longer looking, Felix pulled the vodka bottle out of its hiding spot.

A few stray specks of ash had fallen on his Yeezys. Felix squatted down to brush the ash off in a swift manner. He stayed in that position for a few minutes, twisting the cap off the vodka bottle to take a swig. Don't dip out, huh? For a fleeting moment he entertained the idea of rebelling against Jordy's command and to simply ditch the crime scene. What if he just wasn't in the mood for partying, let alone dealing with a horde of randos? He didn't even know whose party it was. He wasn't usually this moody. This angsty phase was caused by a combination of reasons. On top of that, he was just tired, low on energy. Way too sober, way too... not high. He had blazed through the remainder of his stash, quite literally, and hadn't been able to stock up yet.

Felix flicked the nearly dead cigarette to the house's driveway, immediately popping another one in his mouth to keep him company. Expecting this cousin of Jordy's to come and claim the keg but even after what felt like forever, nobody came. He took out his phone with the intention of calling or texting Jordy but it quickly occured to him that he didn't even have her number. "Ah, fuck it!" Instead of becoming a chainsmoker while waiting for Jordy's cousin he opted to carry the keg inside by himself. It wasn't even that heavy anyway.

Given how these mansions or whatever all seemed to be more or less the same with almost identical floor plans, finding the way to the kitchen didn't pose much of an issue. The only challenging part was navigating through all those people while carrying a keg. Seeing someone dangling a familiar looking necklace in their hand, he swiped it from them with a casual "I'll take that!" while passing them by. He could have sworn he had seen Jordy toy with a similar necklace multiple times that day. He could only hope being right or otherwise things could have gotten way awkward! Thankfully, she was still in the kitchen so there was no obligation to go play 'Where's Waldo?' throughout the entire household to find her. "Lost something?" Felix waved the necklace in front of Jordy's face as if to try and hypnotize her. "The lock's broken. Gotta be more careful with it. Wouldn't wanna lose it again... OR have it stolen."

His steely-eyed father, pale-faced mother, nervous sister, schmuck-y brother (and his stupid girlfriend too, why the fuck was she even there? They’d only met like, twice…) All of them were attacking him. Demanding that he bend to their will, to let them ship him off to the loony bin to ‘fix’ him. Where was this concern when he actually wanted their help years ago? Apparently he was only worthy of saving when he’s inconveniencing others.

Some other bitch was there too, introducing herself as an ‘intervention specialist.’ What a riot. As if a little meeting would make him change his mind. Wes had tried to storm out but his father stopped him, physically. You can always count on Anthony Greene to try and solve his problems with his hands. That so-called ‘specialist’ almost screamed when they started, it was almost funny. She probably would’ve lost her mind if she had been there the time the two of them really got into it.

That night when mom had brought Wes home from the jail for ‘disturbing the peace.’ Apparently a guy can’t even enjoy his buzz on the way back from the bar anymore. Thankfully she’d been able to sweet talk her way into getting the charge dropped, but that wasn’t good enough for dear ol’ dad.

Somehow he was surprised that Wes could fight back, not sure why. He always did say the Greene men knew how to hold their own. Punches were thrown, one of which had been intentionally aimed at the passenger window of Anthony’s F-150, boy did that make him madder than a wet hen. Clouds of dust plumed up as they hit the ground and grappled with each other like two dogs with a bone.

Just like actual dogs, they only stopped when Renee turned the hose on them.

But there was no hose in the living room. Only Wes locking eyes with his mom as she managed to call off her husband. With a thick swallow she turned to her youngest son and told him that he either needed to agree to treatment, or get out.

Second easiest choice of his life. Preceded only by the night his dealer had asked if he wanted to see what it felt like to get high with a little help from some needles.

He didn’t even need a moment to gather any of his things, it wasn’t like any of it was important. There was enough cash in his pocket to get him far enough. The real issue would be keeping his high, but he’d always been creative in getting what he wanted in that respect.

Despite the town’s small size, they did have a bus depot and that depot had a route for the exact place Wes was looking for ‘anywhere but here.’ He’d make up a concrete plan later, maybe once he slept off the warmth of rage behind his eyes.

Somewhere between after Chicago it hit him.

Aunt Merri. She and her family had moved to some shithole town in the middle of nowhere, something about how her dumbass husband had made a few bad business choices and blew through practically their life savings. Merri had always been a soft touch, maybe he could count on her to have his back one more time like she had that time at the family reunion.

He had to get a little creative to make it all the way to Haven Falls, but he’d somehow pulled it off. Between offering cash, offering drugs, and offering other acts he could provide it was almost too easy. Finding his intended destination was just as simple, it helped a lot that certain members of his family posted just about everything on FaceBook. The pitch was set, now all there was to do was sell it.

His eyes were bleary and his hands were shaky anyways, it was about time for another hit, might as well play it off as emotional distress as his aunt appeared behind the door he’d just knocked on. She was startled of course to see her nephew all of a sudden on her front stoop, but he’d hardly given her time to react. Merri wasn’t the only person in the family who had an ability to spin a yarn, and just like her stories often were, Wes gave her a possibly dubious version of the truth.

Wasn’t it a pity? Dad threw him out, he’d always been so emotionally unstable. What a short fuse, taking it out on his children. It was despicable. He had nowhere else to turn, and he hated to bother her, really, with her own issues and troubles. Maybe he shouldn’t have come at all… But, maybe she could find it in her heart to help her poor, displaced nephew for a while? Just until he could get his own way figured out.

As they embraced with a gentle hug he quietly celebrated his success.

The two of them got to work making up the air mattress in Claudia Jean’s bedroom. What a sweet girl, she wouldn’t mind sharing with her cousin. It wasn’t like they could ask her at the moment anyways, she was at the football game. Besides, it wasn’t like she would mind anyways. Merriweather served him up some of last night’s leftovers too, although he wasn’t all that hungry. That need for a hit was starting to climb up from a small urge to a screaming desire. There was probably somewhere to score in this boring place, there always was. One of the small benefits of a nationwide opioid crisis. It was getting late anyways, that was when the fun really started.

Wes whipped up some excuse of wanting to head out to the convenience store for a slushie and ducked out while Merri was doing the dishes. It wasn’t a total lie this time, he really did head to the corner store but there were surprisingly no tweakers hanging around. He’d have to try his luck somewhere else.

A few more misses and bam. He’d hit the motherload, a high school party. There were always at the very least people smoking pot in the bathroom at any one of those. Even before he’d gone off the edge himself he’d seen it first hand back in his own high school days. Damn, only graduated a year ago and it somehow felt so long ago…

He strolled in past the people sitting on the lawn chatting about something probably boring as hell and ducked in the front door to the warmth of what was already seeming to be like some rich asshole’s party. Gross. Despite the faux luxury decor it seemed like he couldn’t shell out for anything more than a grocery store case of what must’ve been off the bottom of the bottom shelves.

“Hey, you know if this party’s got anything more fun than cheap booze?”
He asked to a nearby body.

Adrian Carter Brown
the hockey guy
The first football game of the year was always a big deal for everyone. The school spirit was at its highest and everyone was frantic to see how the football team would play and if they would take their first win of the season, making the crowd excited about what could happen afterward; while Adrian could understand why the students were so eager for the game; he didn’t share the same sentiment as football wasn’t his sport.

After all, he was a guy who loved hockey more than anything, but that didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy watching it on Sundays and always tuned in for the Super Bowl; but he could easily skip some games if she wasn’t that interested in which pretty much happened with the high school football team. He could go and watch some games; but not follow them religiously, hoping they would get a streak of consecutive wins.

But that day in particular Adrian kind of hoped that the team would win and that it would be an interesting game. Why? Well, because Adrian mayhap sold a bit too much about how good the football team is and how exciting the games were to his cousin, mostly because Adrian knew Jonah would find Haven Falls as the most boring town to live in after spending all his life in Seattle because one thing was to come and visit for a couple of days and the other one was to be stuck until graduation in the middle of nowhere because even Adrian who loved the tranquility of Haven Falls couldn’t wait to leave the town once it was time for him to go to college.

Thankfully, they were able to win, and the game seemed interesting enough. At least that’s what it seemed for two guys who were more interested in hockey and baseball than this sport. Due to the results of the game, the inevitable happened: a party after the game courtesy of none other than Bentley, who was always ready to flaunt his status to everyone, but at least the parties were decent enough to have a great time.

So, with a bit of convincing, he managed to Jonah to agree to come to the party despite not knowing anyone and, just as Adrian expected, the party was already in full blast when they arrived.
“So welcome, to your first after-game party in Haven Falls,”
Adrian said jokingly.
“I am sure it’s not as crazy as the parties back in Seattle; but they are not that bad,”
he added as they walked toward where the drinks were. Adrian grabbed a white claw; he wasn’t that much of a drinker and most likely he wouldn’t even be halfway done before they left.
“Want one? And if you plan on freaking out, I only drink one just so you know. But don’t you dare tell my parents about it”

Her stomach caught in her throat at Byron's tone. His voice hadn't raised, but the tone hadn't taken on something that felt... almost harsher. She kind of wished that he would yell, scream, get mad. That she felt that she could handle -- but this? This was something she was ill-equipped to handle.

"No, no, I'm not jealous of him, I don't even care about him, I just--" her voice cut off as the car jerked, and her gaze lifted just in time to see a flash of headlights as Byron veered the car away, and now he started to yell. Lia risked a glance in his direction, only to see his anger diverted from her towards the other driver. She sighed, sinking down into the seat as the car sped up.

Lia needed to say something, right? Like, to try to defuse this? Except she'd already said what she wanted to say, her previous thoughts lost to the displaced anger and careless drivers.

"I'll just drink the shitty vodka," Lia grumbled. Suddenly, she didn't have such an appetite for drinking.

(Was it considered appetite? Probably not, but you got what she meant.)

She watched as he exited the car and headed inside. Her lips pressed down into a frown. It was stupid, really, that they continued trying when their relationship so often turned into fights like this -- but hey, when it was good, it was good. And that... totally outweighed the negatives... yeah?

When he came back out, she didn't bother even looking at him. Instead, Dahlia turned her head, her gaze staring out the window as the car once again started up. Byron started to talk once more, but Lia didn't bother looking towards him. After he'd finished speaking, she waited a few moments before she bothered to respond.

"Listen," she huffed, pushing herself up in her seat as she glared towards him once more. "Everything would be great if you weren't so freaking insecure over a guy that I don't care about literally at all." She opened the car door, stepping out, and slamming it shut behind her before she walked towards the front of the car, and then paused to wait for Byron.

What? She wasn't going to walk into the party without him.

Olivia’s night had been going exactly like she planned, Caleb being her perfect getaway and escape from the turmoil of feelings she refused to deal with. Maybe that was her problem: the constant trapping of emotions in a box only to be locked, placed in a safe and thrown so far back they only found their way out when she opened it to place new emotions inside. One day she'd have to deal with the emotions…she knew it…but for today right now, tonight. That was a problem for future Olivia.

She pressed her lips into Calebs feeling his hand against the back of her throat pulling her closer, she didn't pull away, instead she dipped her kiss. To her surprise Caleb wasn't one of the worst she'd been with if anything he was up there with some of the other surprising people. She shifted her body closer against his, so she was pressed up close. Her own hands slowly traveling down his chest and one brushing against the skin under his shirt.

When she pulled away and met his eyes, she didn't meet Celebs at first instead she'd met Leos and her heart had raced, her imagination had taken control and now Caleb looked like Leo, her face heated up and her smile grew. However, the image did not last slowly fading back into Caleb where she continued the same flirty attitude but she couldn't help but wish Leo was here… (no what the hell are you thinking! He's just a damn friend Olivia! Stop poisoning your head with these stupid ideas!)

“I think I'd like to experience a much longer way to get lost tonight” she smirked with that same alluring spark in her eyes. “One that could last all night…with little to no sleep” shed whisper in his ear “a private hands on session if you know what I mean~”

My Own Worst Enemy

The bitter tone, the flurry of lies, the way she huffed and glared and spat venom when she spoke grated on his nerves. They ignored one another for a time before Byron had offered her what he saw as her last chance to speak on the matter for the night. She had- in typical Lia fashion- squared her shoulders, rose in her seat to meet his gaze and then blamed his perceived insecurity for the whole thing. Once she had spat her poison, she promptly slammed his car door in his face and stomped out to wait by the front of his car. Byron sat for a moment, silently seething. His initial reaction was to tare out of the car after her and cause a scene in front of the gate but- somewhat uncharacteristically- he found pause. He found the restraint he needed to detach himself from the emotional reaction and logically realise he had more important things to deal with tonight than the mistreatment of his tidy little red sports car. Somewhere in the back of his mind he thought to himself

‘Shouldn’t that pill I took be doing something by now!?’

He had expected energy, adrenaline—a jolt to carry him through the night. Instead, he felt strangely clear-headed, focused even. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was unsettling, like someone had rearranged the chaos in his mind without asking. He pushed the thought aside and exited the car. “Here.” He muttered to her, then he handed her the bottle of vodka, forcing himself not to rise to her bait. The vodka was the one Bentley had asked for- gold flakes and all. Obnoxious just like him. The pills in his pocket felt like they were burning a hole in his jeans now. His mind had moved on from Lia. They entered together Byron instinctively assumed the expected position, his free hand moving to the small of her back while he held the rum and the Tequila in the other. As they moved through the house, they were together, but Byron barely looked at her. He was in his head as usual, but, eerily, his mind was silent. He found it kind of jarring that his overlapping mess of thoughts and internal monologue was subdued. Instead, he was homed in on his objectives. His brown eyes scanned for Diamond so that he could offload the Tequila and make his eventual inevitable run in with Bentley that much more satisfying.

As he passed through the massive and familiar house, he noticed a few groups off teens he vaguely knew and had alerted to his samples ahead of time. Subtly, he made a few brief exchanges as he passed them by. He hadn’t alerted Lia to this plot yet… mostly because stealing those drugs had been a bit… impulsive. He’d noticed the key, carelessly left behind in the Livingroom. He knew it wasn’t his father’s pharmacy key’s; he was a meticulous man; he’d never do something so careless. But Byron had a feeling his brother was becoming disillusioned with his father’s fixed plans for his life. There was a subtle rift growing between them. He was slipping away. Secretly, Byron hoped that he would continue down that path… get the fuck out of this place once he graduated. His pride didn’t let him say anything so sentimental. Instead, he had been slowly pushing his brother away over the years, unable to deal with anything but his own bitterness.

So, when he’d seen the keys just sitting there as if calling to him… the next thing he knew he was casually taking a few bottles of candy from the shelves of the local drug store his dad owned. He had luckily the forethought to balance the counter with fake cash payments and roll back the security feed, or he’d probably have been caught before he’d made it to the party. This slight against his father was not a light one to make. He had no doubt he might be fearing for his very life with the fury that man would rain down on the son he was already so disgusted with. He hadn’t handed them to anyone close to him yet, just relative strangers- Loser drugged up youths that looked like they might spread the word for him. He had, however, told Leo. There wasn’t much he didn’t tell Leo. Although, he admitted, he’d told him after the fact- not before.

He wondered if Conner even knew they were missing yet. He honestly didn’t know if he’d be mad or not. His brother’s anger was not explosive like his or his fathers, but sharper. His words were usually chosen more carefully. He was damn private with his emotions in general, where as Byron couldn’t help it- Before he could do anything about it his were plain to read on his face.

Finally, he spotted Diamond, his mood improved somewhat as he thought about the fun he was finally about to have. Alexa was there too, meaning Connor must be around here somewhere. He glanced at Lia “Theres Diamond, just gotta give her this.” He said, kind of expecting a glare in response

His grin came easily as he approached, slipping effortlessly into the cocky, carefree mask he wore so well. “Hey! D! Got your Anejo!” He said, feeling relief to have a reprieve from the charged tension between him and Lia for the moment. He held the bottle out to her like a prize and then acknowledged Alexa with a small wave. To the both of them he asked “Did you find our favourite host yet?” He asked, voice dripping in friendly sarcasm. If Lia stayed under his arm or left, he’d stay where he was.

Shit.

Of all the people Alex was of course who she'd bump into first. Their friendship was...rocky to say the least, and darn near none existent anymore to better define it. Yes, the catalyst was her break-up with Bently, but it's not even because it was Bently. She just didn't trust cheaters. Thanks to her mommy issues, she just couldn't connect anymore with someone who didn't even seem to feel remorseful for it. Anyways they are here now, and Di wasn't one to shrink away form something just because it's awkward. "Damn, I really need to see the look on his face." she sucked her teeth a moment pretending not to care that it was her.

She playfully rolled her eyes at the cheer group comment especially since she'd almost convinced Lia to join her. If she were a worse person she'd have pulled the trigger and completely ruined his night. "I did, but you know me, a good enough bribe can change my mind, and I've got a bottle of tequila with my name on it getting hand-delivered." She smirked. She eyed her a moment, especially mentioning that Connor was also here, "I'm both surprised and not that you both showed up." Audacity was something Alexandra had plenty of for better or worse.

Like clockwork, the second person she'd been looking for appeared, "Hey! Thanks." She grabbed it with a bright grin on her face, "Now my night can really begin." Oh look Lia, the trio was all in one space once again...well almost considering she knew they'd basically replaced her. Not that she cared much. Just proved in her mind she was right.

"No...so maybe it's up to me to bring him to me instead?" a teasing mischievous glint in her eyes coupled with a smirk. If there was anything Diamond could do it was find a way to get eyes on her. She playfully nudged them both, "This party could use something to liven it up, right?" She took a long swig of the bottle straight to the head before blasting a song on her phone and climbing up on the countertop, gaining the attention of a few eyes. "Hey everyone, the first one to bring me the host gets to take a body shot off me!" That certainly got a bunch of the guys and a few girl's attention around her. With that, she just started dancing. Some people started cheering her name and dancing along with her. One random girl she even pulled up on the counter with her to dance on while others rushed off to see if they could claim her prize. She'd leave it up to Alex and Byron if they'd stay and enjoy the show, join in, or leave.

Good Graces

Quinn didn't usually slum it at parties with the Haven Falls ‘proper’ kids- especially lately. (Though they at least they had the decency to throw this party in the nicer neighborhood.)
But when she did she was half-drunk before she even hit the door.

After the game she'd hit the bottle pretty hard with the Silverlake team, commiserating the loss but when the little pity party disbanded Quincey Lee Curits wasn't quite ready to call it a night. It didn't take that deep of a social media dive to suss out the (rather unfortunate) location of the Haven Falls after party even in her inebriated state and it took even less time to actually get there.

She recognized a couple faces- when you live in a small town like Haven Falls you can help but file the familiar ones away, even without a name to match. A hand reached up to fuss with her bangs, the rest of her pin straight hair still tied up in a too high ponytail, cheer ribbon and all.

Maybe a different girl would've toned it down. Taken off the Silver Lake sweatshirt and leggings combo- but not Quinn. She liked the division. Quinn was a book looking to be judged by her cover, just like she was judging all of theirs.

Feeling herself sobering up more and more she grew desperate tapping the shoulder of what could only be described as the most inoffensive little brunette boy imaginable.
"Hey you, where's the alcohol? I could use like three shots- yesterday.”

Okay- so it wasn't subtle. But who had time for subtlety with stone cold sobriety inching closer and closer by the minute. She was a woman on a mission and this boy...Quinn was more than sure he'd be willing to help her out.

Jonah was comfortable with Adrian- well for the most part. It wasn't anything his cousin had done. There's just a distinction between a cousin and a sibling and well they were definitely still cousins despite now living under the same roof.

Maybe with time the two would break down the little wall standing between them and the whole ugly truth but tonight it was still standing strong.

“So welcome, to your first after-game party in Haven Falls”

Jonah attempted a smile. He really did appreciate the lengths Adrian was going to make him feel welcomed. He was a good guy, that there was no denying. That was 90 percent of the reason Jonah had agreed to even come- how could you say no to someone who was going so far out of their way to include you?

Jonah was a bit surprised when Adrian reached for a hard seltzer but hoped the shock didn't read so plainly over his features.
“Didn’t know you drank- even a little.”
He admitted.

“But you don't have to worry about me telling your parents. I'd like to make as little trouble for them as possible. Telling them their golden boy is a no good underage drinker definitely isn't on my agenda.”

Joey was teasing him now.

He took a can for himself- drinking it much more quickly than his cousin and taking a second one to nurse for the rest of the evening.

But no more than this- Joey chided himself silently. You remember what happened last time you drank.

It was a time then teen preferred not to recall. The whole reason he was stuck here in Hick Falls in the first place- he caught himself. What a prick way of thinking. He heaved a sigh.

“So cuz, now that there's no brothers or sisters to overhear you gotta tell me- are you seeing anyone?”
It was a genuine question.

“Or if you aren't well- who do you wanna be seeing? If you know
what I mean.

If anyone asked Risa how she stumbled upon this party, she wouldn't be able to tell you. She didn't know what she was thinking following others' cars from the stadium all the way to a stranger's house. Well, not stranger. It's not like Risa didn't know who Bentley was. She actually knew most of the people here - their faces anyway. In the hallways, in classes, whatever. So that must have been the reason why she was here. To try and pretend like she was a part of it all.

Sure, she was going to be the new kid in everyone's eyes after moving from her private school to a public one, but as soon as she got in one conversation, she'd be in them all. Luckily Risa could read people and figure out what to do and say to make them all like her. Her moves and reactions were always calculated and deliberate.

She'd be back in her status soon enough.

Pushing past all the people in the foyer and hall, Risa finally found the kitchen. She grabbed a cup and poured herself a drink. She definitely needed the buzz to get her confidence up. People are willing to hang with a bad bitch, not a socially awkward loser. And Risa was not going to be the loser.

Putting her shoulders up and back, Risa strutted her way back into the sea of drunk teenagers, trying her best to get noticed or a way to join or start a conversation of some sort.

Lacey Marie Kavanagh
the chill girl
When Lacey stepped foot at the party, the kids from Haven Falls were throwing after winning the football game. She started questioning how she even got here, well; the answer was easy. What started for her as an activity for the school newspaper of taking photos of the football game for the article they wanted to write about the start of the new season and the new journey of the team wasn’t going to be as epic as they were sure their school would crush the Bears of Haven Falls, long story short that wasn’t what happened.

So now Lacey was stuck with a bunch of photos she wasn’t even sure they were going to use because most likely they would have to change everything based on the results, which was almost a relief for the girl because apparently being knowledgeable in one sport meant you were the right person to photograph all the sports events.

But just because Lacey was practically an encyclopedia of baseball thanks to her father, it didn’t mean she knew anything about football and when it was the right moment to shoot a picture. So she tried her best with what she had and knew, but the more she looked at the pictures, the more she hated them. But that was just her being a perfectionist, even if she knew the kids in the newspaper would be thrilled with the results.

When she thought everything was over and she could go back to her house, one of her friends intercepted her and begged her to come with her to the party because she didn’t want to be the only Silver Lake student there at first Lacey was adamant about going because why would they even go there when they didn’t know anyone, well, it was Lacey the one who didn’t know anyone except like some familiar faces that she could recognize but that she wasn’t particularly close with because the moment her friend was at the party she was long gone and soon she found out that the reason they were there, was because of a guy that happened to be at the party who was a Haven Falls student, so now Lacey was third wheeling, but not really third wheeling because she wasn’t going to spend all night with them.

So when you didn’t have a lot of friends to socialize with at a party, the only thing that was left was either getting drunk, the thing that she wouldn’t do because first she had never gotten drunk and would never do it in a place full of strangers and second because she still had to drive home she wasn’t going to lose her driving rights not when she just got them, so the next thing she could was to eat as much snacks as it was possible as she enjoyed her glass full of sprite.

As she was searching in all the kitchen cabinets for another flavor of chips, that wasn’t the classic ones. She heard someone asking if there was something more fun than the cheap booze. Lacey was sure the guy wasn’t talking to her, so she continued with her task until she found a bag of Honey Barbecue Lays, but that was the moment when she realized that the guy never got a reply back and when she turned she was faced by the guy still waiting for a reply.
“No clue. I don’t even know who is hosting this party, but assuming the vibe of the place they must have a liquor cabinet somewhere although I can only offer you some of these Lays, take it or leave it.”

The Weathers

C'est Le Vie

The take home video rental business was especially slow in Haven Falls this particular evening. It seemed like everyone else in town was partying it up in her neighborhood. Mere blocks from her own home.

The fear of missing out was for Carmen, unignorable. With a potential for her perpetual boredom just around the proverbial corner the desire to ditch work gnawed at the teen until well- she did.

With zero consideration for the consequences she locked up, went out to her car, and threw her work lanyard around the rearview mirror for safekeeping before starting up the vehicle.

Before peeling out of the parking lot Carmen lit up a cigarette, idly ashing it out the barely cracked front window. (The truth was it was always open just a crack- she’d broken it months ago and had yet to get it fixed.)

The drive was short. Every drive was short in Haven Falls; the place didn't exactly have a sprawling geographical footprint. After parking (a bit further away than she would have liked) Carmen carried on with the rest of the journey the old fashioned way.

One boot in front of the other.

Carmen’s cigarette free hand was buried deep in the pocket of her fringe sleeved jean jacket, a favorite of hers. When she finished the cancer stick she traded it for another kind of cigarette though decided to wait on lighting it, sticking it behind her ear like a flower on a summer day- well technically it was a flower...or had been at one point.

Carmen settled for linking up and splitting the thing with Felix- one of the newer faces around town. She had promised him some green earlier and well...now was as good a time as any to deliver.

She made her way into the house. Yawning her way through a sea of familiar faces- eyes ever searching for a stand out.

‘Where are you? I decided to ditch work and make an appearance. I brought some 🌿 if you still want it.’ she shot off a text to him.

Felix was a nice boy. When she bummed a cigarette off him just a few short weeks ago the damaged teen had felt an instant connection. She saw the darker parts of him and she understood them- understood his desire to avoid them. So Carmen did her best to take care of him- in her way. Quickly becoming the burn out older sister he'd never asked for.

It was never the football game itself that drew Ines to the stadium, it was becoming more apparent however that she wasn’t entirely immune to the wiles of the players of said game. She obviously wasn’t like one of those obnoxious girls so obviously trying to get into their ugly little uniform pants.

Ines wouldn’t do that. It was just being courteous to cheer like she did for a certain player, that was all.

The hustle and bustle of basically half of, if not the entire population, of Haven falls trying to leave the stadium was miserable. Especially with all the complaining from basically everyone. That was something else Ines was unfortunately not immune to. She could bitch and moan with the best of them, any other member of the Burke family could attest to that.

Somehow she did make it home in one piece, just in time to freshen up a little before sneaking off to Bentley’s party. Ahem the movies with her dear, sweet sister darling. Good thing too, she’d somehow managed to sit in some fucking gum on those nasty bleachers. A damn shame too, they were some of her best. Oh well, they weren’t the only pair of pants she owned that made her look great.

She kept the same shirt she had on at the game, a simple shirt with some cover art off an album from The Eagles and a red flannel button up on over it to protect from the chill that often settled in at night. The dirty jeans had been handed off to her mother who remarked ”Ines, I do wish you wouldn’t walk around the kitchen in your underwear like that. It’s not very becoming of a young lady.” to which of course Ines responded she thought her shirt covered anything exciting anyways. Mrs. Burke loved that of course.

After scampering back up to her room and past her sister overanalyzing the contents of her purse, Ines replaced the jeans with a similar pair, although these ones had been a different wash than before and were slightly more distressed as well. Hopefully enough to be annoying but to her parents but not so scandalous that they would make her change.

Thankfully nothing was said by their mother as the two sisters were dropped off outside of TinselTown. Kat wore an expression that clearly spoke about the internal turmoil she was dealing with over their excursion to the party.

She spoke before Ines could ask her if she was gonna shit herself from anxiety or what.

"I’m not sure."
She shrugged, picking at the chipped green polish on her nails. Speaking of gree, she hoped there would be good weed at this party, alcohol was fine, good even, but there was nothing like a nice joint. Especially if there was good company to share it with.

The look on Kat’s face struck a chord within her as she looked upon it again. She didn’t have to be quite so harsh on her older sister, not all the time anyways. Maybe she could let up just this once.

"Hopefully that guy I was talking to at the game."
She said, reaching into her back pocket to pull out a chapstick and hastily applying it
"You know, Drake? The running back."

There, an olive branch, she just hoped Kat wouldn't be expecting any more any time soon. The Uber conveniently pulled up a moment later and saved Ines from more lukewarm exchanges with her sister. There would be time for that later at home.

The wheels of the car had barely stopped when she jumped out of the car
"Text me if you have to!"
She hollered as she bolted across the lawn away from her sister and into the house. Her first stop was the kitchen for something to drink. There was a smattering of different kinds of alcohol, it didn’t matter to her, she just wanted to get a buzz going. Randomly she selected a can that she recognized and cracked it open, cursing loudly as she realized the nail on her index finger had broken in the process. Ugh, whatever. A few sips and she’d forget all about it.

Now, it was time to hunt down that aforementioned certain player.

Surprisingly it wasn’t as quick as she hoped. Nearly half her drink was gone by the time she spotted him lingering in the corner of one of the rooms. Like he had done to her at the snack stand she approached him casually yet intently.

"Hey, nice work, you guys managed to pull it off."
She said, tapping his shoulder to gain his attention
"Think you’ll be able to keep it going this season?"
