So... 19 dice with re-roll misses (Which really shouldn't be allowed in Essence, since it neatly sidesteps the dice adder cap). Mean ~= 15 hits. 4 defense. 11 net hits. Excellent Strike doubles that, but hits the cap of 5, so 16 net hits. Accuracy bounces off the cap. (Incidentally, that means Excellent Strike is way better for Heavy weapons than Light, curious) 10 Power + 16 net hits is 26 damage dice + 3 Damage = 16 damage. 8 Soak leaves you with 8 HLs of damage.

Does that seem right? If it is then okay, yeah, even without an Expose Weakness, that packs a wallop. With Expose Weakness, and being force fed Power, you could probably kill it in three rounds. If it doesn't have any awesome Charms, or kill you first, or just fly out of sword range 😆.

Historically in other games I haven't seen multiplicative effects be filed under an additive cap. That may've just been table/personal preference though, where anything that isn't a additive effect isn't subject to additive rules. Especially when activation in and of itself is a gamble as to whether a variable effect gives any benefit. With excellencies automatically hitting the die cap for 1m and being unable to use more than one charm a step, the whole setup seems just a step away from suffocatingly restrictive.

For weapon accuracy or damage, I may have to reread but they aren't charms and shouldn't be subject to charm limits, especially when even some charms break that threshold.

Yeah, maybe it's fine. It's like, what, +4 cap breaking successes? It's very strong, but so long as it's costed well that's not a problem.

That tripped me up at first too. It's not a charm cap in Essence. It's a pool cap. It's global, unless something expressly says it breaks the cap. So equipment and charms are capped together, along with anything else that doesn't say it breaks the cap in its text. 10 dice and 5 successes, but curiously they're separate pools. So 10 dice plus 5 successes is fine, but 3 successes from a charm and 3 from equipment caps at 5.

I'm likely going to merge them both into one large group for the sake of ease shortly, but just to be clear, Ijara's attacking the Aigonite vanguard, right?

You've only used two motes of Essence in this battle so far, yes? One for your Excellency and one for Guard-Breaking Technique? I've edited your motes and Anima counts accordingly.

Ijara's attacking the second, larger battle group, because the first one is in close range to allies. She doesn't want to hit them.

I’m just a little confused as I thought we were going for a retreat and I don’t really know want everyone else has planned cause Sojiro and Garret are in wrong side of the fire wall

Jaydude made sure to mention there were gaps in the firewall big enough for Sojiro and Garrett to retreat! They're not stuck, don't worry.

Ijara is going to the fortress to link up with any of the Satrapial administration still alive, then she's withdrawing to the docks and her Heaven-ordained escape route.

I thought that we were not ready to try and face off against the behemoth yet, and that we'd need to do some pulling back to get the civilians to safety and level up a bit before going out to fight the big baddie. If I was wrong, I'm all for doing some damage to it. I just don't know how effective Most Assurant will be against its level of Hardness as anything other than to keep the smaller monsters off of the heavy hitters of the group as they carve into it.

From her position at the edge of the battlefield, Most Assurant targets another one of the smaller monsters and fires off another blast of Essence from her arm cannon at the nearest one to the melee fighters in order to protect them.

6 successes to hit.

Artifact: Artifacts are ancient weapons and armor with fantastical effects. Increase all weapon or armor stats (Accuracy, Damage, Defense, and Overwhelming, or Soak and Hardness) by one.
Powerful: Enables a point-blank attack for ranged weapons. Decrease the wielder’s Defense by 1 until the start of her next turn. Gain two bonus dice to withering attacks or decreases an opponent’s Hardness by 1 for the purpose of making decisive attacks.
Is this a withering or decisive attack?

Sorry. Forgot to say I'll do a Decisive attack to try and wipe out some of the critters.

I have you marked at 6 Power right now; how much do you want to wager for your damage roll?

Also, just for future reference, this is something you should declare at the same time you state your intent to do a decisive attack.

If you're not going to attack this round, do you want to do a Sprint move? That'll put you within Close Range of Ijara, the guards and the fleeing servants.

Again, sorry. I'll go ahead and use the whole six Power on the attack.
