Fantasy Derika: Land of the Gifted

Ah, don't worry. The ETG has more depth than what it appears to be right now. I just don't want to give away too much about them. They are very much so grey though.


As for not allowing people to make ETG characters--it's because it allows me (plotwise) to make the conflict between the Factions and ETG resolve and to adjust the power of ETG so they're not simply being squashed by RPers.


Currently I am working on alternatives to Faction life.


As for Bobert's Bread, I can make it a chain bakery that's spread across the entirety of Derika. Would it be wrong to describe it as a place where people frequently go to socialize and a good place to gather information? Similar to a bar, but we're being family friendly here. Aside from the mountain of corpses.

Bobert's Bread, in Brinkhaven at least, should be a very large bakery/cafe/pub that has entrances all around Brinkhaven similar to chain stores, but every entrance to Bobert's Bread should be a portal that just seamlessly leads into the one main store interior.


As the other stores of Bobert's Bread chain outside of Brinkhaven can't be linked to the city due to security reasons, they would just be normal bakery/cafe/pubs.


The only ex-ETG characters remaining are probably just Jake and Haku. (I'm not even gonna try to consider Ryik's characters...)


Ice says the drinking age is 18. That'll be a little problematic for Jake since he rather likes alcohol, but I suppose he can just get someone to buy it for him.

Two Former ETG, (One of which is becoming an NPC) an ETG science project, (Overhaul of his ability is needed, so he might come around a bit late) and an active ETG. (as previously mentioned, being retired because of lack of Deemas) There was also a character who was considering joining them before the last RP ended, but he's also being retired.


My characters look so amazingly broken without their weaknesses.

Heh, don't worry. Aside from newcomers, I'm probably the least familiar with previous iterations of Derika to be honest.

There are actually a ton of grays when it comes to the ETG, as you can imagine in an RP where making ETG characters was allowed. That gravity manipulating character Ronin mentions? His name was Deemas, and he slaughtered countless ETG. Hundreds at the minimum. The sheer body count and actions taken go way beyond "beating up the bad guys" all the way to "anti-hero" or not even a hero at all. I once had a young ETG character bent on getting vengeance on him for killing his parents, and more broadly, the rest of Brinkhaven because of how Derika racks up the highest ETG body count of any ETG operation worldwide.
If Deemas returns, so will he. Since he's being retired though, that leaves only a few former ETG characters left for the most part.

I'm actually considering bringing back Deemas, but more as an NPC. If I do bring him back, he'll be working at Bobert's Bread and he'll be significantly less of a violent psychopath than he once was. I actually had plans in the previous roleplay to have him get kidnapped by the ETG, have his memory erased completely, get turned into a living war machine, and have his gift ultimately wrenched away from him, but unfortunately it didn't pan out.

I plan to join this for certain, but I still have to figure out a character. And I'm considering retiring Heric. Not because he's overpowered(Though he is, but I'm not sure that was ever an issue considering everyone tended to be overpowered) or anything, but more because I'm too used to characters like him and just want to try something new. He may come back at some point.

Alright, cool! And I'll try to get the first IC post out by today or tomorrow, to lay down a setting and a good spot for people to start their posts. The RP itself won't actually start until more people get their characters accepted.


Make whatever character your heart desires. Although in this version of Derika, I'm lowering the overall power level of characters (for less worldbreaking).


And yeah, given Deemas's monstrous Gift (unless it gets toned down); you'll have to make him an NPC. Even then, I might want Deemas reworked a bit.

As a status update on the first actual IC post, it's being worked on. Been busier than I imagined I would be, but hopefully should be able to get it out soon. After it's out, I'll be working on describing the faction recruitment process.

People can now post in IC. You may start in the large crowd. Even if you don't wish for your character to be part of the Factions, they can still be in the crowd simply due to interest. Other than that, feel free to start your character wherever. I'll get to the recruitment process tomorrow. But they'll be testing you in a designated building (rather than letting you destroy the front desk area or something like that in the last RP).

Yeah, what negativenull said. Posts don't have to be that long, around 300 words would be a good ballpark. Ice as admin likes to be detailed, but it isn't required by any means.

As my mods have already stated--this roleplay is always open and casual only refers to post length requirements. But yeah, feel free to join- invite your friends, invite strangers, and even invite all the people if you so desire.


Anyhow, I've just requested an Updates tab for patch notes and suggestions. I wish I could choose my own names for these.
