Jace agreed and has his mom drop him off after school. Before he came to visit he stopped at the store to buy her favorite snacks. When he saw her he was hesitant at first because he didn't know just how bad things were. Handing her the bag he smiled. "Hi stranger."

Lilly looked over at Jace and smiled sheepishly as she took the bag from him. "Hey." She whispered as she looked into the bag and smiled at all the snacks be bought her. "Thanks for the snacks." She whispered then looked over at him and bit her bottom lip, trying her hardest to not cry but soon, the tears fell and her hands were over her eyes.

Jace smiled and nodded to her thanks. When he saw her start to cry his expression contorted to confusion. "What is it?" Her friend asks softly, resting a hand gently on her free arm for comfort.

Lilly shook her head as she looked at Jace with her red puffy eyes. "My impact damaged a spinal nerve Jace..... I can't feel my legs." She whispered and pulled him into a hug where she cried and cried. She couldn't think positive about this anymore. "Nothing will be the same."

Jace blinked when he heard the news. He didn't want to believe what he just heard but by the way she broke down he keeps it was true. When she cried against him he remained silent and stayed at her side, he felt horrible end didn't know what to say. "It'll be okay," he whispers. "You have many people who love you, they'll make sure you get everything you ever want or need, it could be worse." He reminds her. She could be worse off and not have the love and support of s close knit family, at least she had that.

Lilly shook her head as she sighed and then finally, she looked up at Jace and got lost in his eyes. "Please don't leave me Jace..... You're all I have besides family. I can't lose you." She whispered then leaned forward but stopped herself. This was too soon so she sighed and laid her head against him again. "Why me?"

Jace nodded to her request for him not to leave and took her into a gentle hug. "I don't know." This would definitely take some adapting but of course he wasn't going to leave Lilly for the wolves.

"Jace.. Do you have a girlfriend?" Lilly asked as she sighed and hugged her best friend close. She really hoped he wouldn't say yes. She really just wanted him to stay single so they could try it later in life.

Jace laughed at her softly. "Not as sad as I know." He says reassuringly. "Where would you get an idea like that?" He asks reaching for the bag and pulling out the sour skittles to share with her.

Lilly let out a content sigh and nodded as she looked up at Jace and smiled. "From Riley." She whispered and then sighed as she looked at him. "Red." She said and opened her mouth for him to put one in.

Have held back s growl arising in his throat when he heard her brother's name. The anger didn't last long once he saw her open her mouth a wait for him to throw her one he laughed and nodded. Pulling one out of his palm he aimed it perfectly and landed it right in her mouth. "I know he's your brother but you shouldn't trust what he says Lil," Jace says with a sympathetic look. He knew that was probably hard to hear but sadly lately it was the truth.

Lilly sighed as she listened to her best friend and nodded. "I know." She whispered as she eventually just laid against Jace and slowly began to fall asleep. She was exhausted and being next to Jace always calmed her and soothed her. She didn't want him to leave

When Jayden came back later in the day Jace decided to take his leave so he could do his homework. She was in good hands with her father and he was still shocked with the news, everyone was.

When Lilly saw her father, she smiled softly at him and yawned softly. "I love you. We are going to be okay right?" She asked him with a smile and then watched as they brought her hospital food. She made a face of disgust and thought back to hers and Jaces promise. She really hoped they could keep it.

Jayden laughed softly at his daughter and shook his head. "I know, it's not your job to say those things, it's mine." He says teasingly before he kissed her forehead and sat beside her again. Later Landen came by after work. "We'll look who it is, your teacher has come to give you your homework." Their father days teasingly.

Lilly laughed softly as she shook her head as she looked at Landen. "What's up?" She asked but extended her arms for him to hug her. She was exhausted and she loved her older brother just as much as she loved her parents. "No homework please." She whispered with a laugh.


(What if Jace and Lilly become very distant while she's in the hospital so Jace breaks his promise and leaves Lilly alone so when she returns to school, she's at a loss for what to do and we build from there?)

"Well, I was supposed to come visit with Ebony but I'm not sure where she is but I'm sure she'll be here soon." Because of everything his little sister was going through he and his wife both knew she needed something to lift her spirits so they were going to tell her the news today, and it was special because they wanted her to know how much she meant to them by telling her first.

Lilly laughed softly as she looked at her older brother and smiled. "I see. Stay with me tonight big brother? I miss sleeping with you and it's supposed to rain." Lilly said as she sighed. Every Time it rained when she was little, she always ended up in her big brothers bed and laid with him that night. She was sadly exhausted. "When's Ebony coming?"

Landen of course couldn't say no and agreed to stay. "Soon." He says pulling out his phone to check in his side figuring she got caught up at work. With Landen being here Jayden took the opportunity to go home for a shower and clean clothes. Between work and spending his time with Lilly he basically lived there as much as Lilly did. but of course he didn't mind it, his little girl needed him and he would always be there for her.

"Big brother I'm tired." She whispered as she yawned and then leaned over and laid her head against his shoulder. "Will Ebony stay tonight too or no?" She asked with a sigh.


When Jayden returned home, Alyssa was in the process of taking away all of Riley's privileges and when Jayden walked in, Riley yelled at his mom saying he hated her and didn't love her then ran up to his room. Alyssa cringed at those words. She'd never get comfortable hearing them. She was his mother and her own son hated her.

Jayden walked in and let out a sigh, this unfortunately was starting to be the new normal for their son. "What's going on?" Her husband asks softly resting a hand on her arm for comfort, h never got used to those words either but he knew they were never true.

Alyssa sighed as she pulled her arm away from her husband and hugged herself. "I'll explain later." She whispered and walked off to their room where she laid in bed and curled up there.

Jayden nodded bht looked to her with concern and confusion. Giving her the space she needed he went to take his shower. When he came back he approached her slowly, starting to rub her back and leaned down to kiss her cheek.

When she felt her husband behind her, she let out a sigh and turned to look at him. "What are we going to do with him?" She asks Jayden with another sigh. She hated how thing were becoming with Riley.
