Dancing soothes the soul

Jayden sighed softly and bit his lip. "He's a teenage boy, they cause trouble we aren't the first to experience it,"Her husband points out trying to reassure her it would be alright. "He is my son after all." He says attempting to get her to laugh. He knew her first impression of him was that he was a cliche hot shot who acted like a douche bag and loved to cause trouble because he knew he could get away with it because of the amount of money attached to his family name.

Alyssa sighed as she nodded and then looked over at Jayden and smiled weakly. "I know I'm sorry." She whispered and hugged her husband close. "How's our baby girl?" She whispered and stayed snuggled up against his chest. She missed sleeping with him. One of them was always with Lilly at night.

Jayden let out another sigh. "She's alright I supposed." He whispers softly. "She's had plenty of visitors tonight." He knew she would be fine with Landen and Ebony,

Alyssa nodded as she stayed against her husband and sighed. "I love you." She whispered and kissed his jaw. "Stay with me?" She asked him.

"Oh, I suppose," He says laughing at her excited expression, leaning in he kisses her softly and for lost in her eyes for a few moments before he kissed her again as his fingers ran gently through her hair.

"I love you." Alyssa whispered as she leaned over and kissed him softly. "Where's our romance Jay?" She asked with a sigh and leaned over to kiss his neck then collar bone. "Kids drain you."

Jayden looked to her with a guilty smile. She was right, his main concern for the longest while had shifted to their children but he knew she understood. However, he felt bad he got distracted from her, his wife. Shaking his head he returned the kisses he was receiving. "There's always time for you."

"Mmm really?" Alyssa whispered as she smiled at the kisses she was receiving in return. "Sure you aren't busy for me?" She asked him. She missed just being with her husband. She really did but she'd be okay.

"If I was I just cleared my schedule." Freeing the hair from her neck he kissed her bare skin before he moved back to her lips again. "Are you busy or should I leave a message?" He asks with a light laugh against her lips.

"Hm? I think I can fit you into my schedule." She whispered with a bright bubbly laugh and leaned up to kiss her husband again. When she pulled away, she let out a yawn then heard Riley hitting something. She sighed and sat up. "I'll be back." She whispered and went to check on him and tried to calm his anger down but Alyssa was pushed away and she hit the wall. "God, I've never hated anyone more in my entire life then you!" Riley exclaimed and Alyssa tried so hard not to cry. She looked at her lap and sighed as he laid back in bed. Where did they go wrong with him?

Jayden heard the commotion and jumped up from the bed. Heading for Riley's room he opened the door, his glance locked with son's. "I know I did not just hear you speak to your mother in that tone." Jayden says easing his voice slightly as he entered the room and stepped a few feet away from him. "If there is one thing you're going to learn from me it's going to be respect. She," he says pointing to his mother "Deserves your utter most respect, that's the woman who gave you life, if I EVER hear animosity towards her from you again, it's not going to be pretty, now apologize and mean it. You don't want to be treated like a child yet you're surely acting like one."

Riley looked at his father and became frightened. He looked at his mom and before he could find the words to say, Alyssa slowly stood up and sighed, tears in her eyes. "It's fine Jay.... He hates me. No changing it." She whispered as she chocked on tears and walked out. "Mom.... Mom no don't walk out on me!" Riley said as he ran after his mom and hugged her from behind. "Don't give up on me mom. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Riley whispered against her back and Alyssa shook her head. "Id never give up on you Riley. I'm just tired of your attitude and how you've been acting with me." Alyssa whispered and Riley hugged her closer. "Mommy stop. I love you. I'm sorry." He whispered and Alyssa sighed. "What's weighing so heavy on you Riley?" She asked and that's when Riley caved. He's tears evident. "It's so hard trying to fit in. It's so hard knowing nobody at that school thinks of you as an individual. Yes I'm my fathers son and I wouldng trade you or dad for anyone else, but having to live up to his name gets tiring." He whispered and fell to his knees as he hugged himself and cried. "I'm not my dad. I'm my own person, but ill never be good enough. It's my fault Lilly ended up hurt. I couldn't build up the courage to tell anyone Clary wasn't going to spot Lilly on purpose. Clary was jealous." He whispered and Alyssa looked at her husband in shock. She wasn't expecting this from Riley.

For Jayden it was all too much for him to take in at once. He shared a shocked expression with his wife and for a drew moments remained conflicted. He wanted to reassure his son despite his unacceptable behavior that there was no need for "living up to a name." He wanted his kids to find their own success, no pressure added. But of course he didn't have a choice but to turn his attention to Lilly. "You knew what was going to happen to your sister and you didn't say anything?" His voice was in a whisper hiding his anger for now but it was evident in his eyes.

Riley looked up at his father and saw the anger in his eyes. Nothing would ever hurt Riley more then knowing his father was beyond angry with him. He looked at his mother and saw her gentleness but it wasn't enough. He screwed up. Riley stood up as he wiped his tears and nodded. "Sorry I ruined things for you and your little princess dad.... You always cared about her more then me." He whispered and then cried harder. He ran off and out of the house. He was running away. He ruined everything for his sister and he knew his father would never forgive him. Nobody cared about him anymore, and that was evident. "Riley!" Alyssa called out and ran after her son but soon, he was no where to be found. Her heart began to pound hard against her chest. She wasn't losing him. "Riley..." She whispered as she stared out in the distance and began to cry harder. Oh where did they go wrong?

Jayden of course felt a pang of guilt but he couldn't help his anger. It wasn't because he had a favorite it was because Lilly's life was never going to be the same and now that he knew there was a possibility she could have not been suffering right now that was enough to make him livid. Letting out a frustrated sigh he ran out after his wife and reassured her their son would be alright. He wasn't going to let him get far. Knowing him he probably was going to run off to his sister's house, they had always been close and right now Riley needed that. Just to be sure though jay called into the Sheriff to keep an eye on his son.

Alyssa sighed as she shook her head. She knew her son well and knew, he wouldn't come back. She now knew he felt like his father gave up hope on him. "He won't come back and he won't go to Bellas. You know he won't. Open your eyes Jay and realize your son needs you. I know everything that happened to Lilly could have been prevented and her sufferings would vanish, but dammit Jay, nothing stopped it. If happened and we have to help her through it. I wish I could trade places with Lilly but I know what my sons feeling. I know what it's like to feel utterly alone. Sue me for saying this but you don't show him enough that you care." She told him and sighed. She knew this would cause a huge fight to happen and she was to exhausted to even fight. "I'm going to look for him." She whispered and grabbed her truck keys.

The emotions Jay had were now all but calm, instead they were a whirl wind. He knew she was expecting s fight but he wasn't going to even go there. Instead he just gave in. "You're right, I don't." He says in a whisper and after a few seconds of looking at each other he spoke again. "Just go." he says turning away from her. That would forever be his weak spot. Whenever someone told him he wasn't there for any of them, because he was terrified of was true and she knew it, he let that guilt eat him alive after it was him not being there that led to their divorce, and that guilt even though they Medes their love, that guilt never left and when she threw it back in his face it was as if she threw a knife straight through him, he was his father, everything he didn't want to be.

Alyssa blinked at Jayden and sighed as she looked at him and kissed his cheek. "I'm sorry." She whispered because she knew what she said hit a nerve. One she knew her husband always felt guilty for. She walked out of the house and to the car where she laid her head against the steering wheel. Their family was falling apart and Alyssa herself wasn't strong enough to do this alone. She wasn't strong at all. She cried and cried but eventually went to go and see if she could find Riley, but it was no use. She couldn't find him and she didn't even want to go home to Jayden. She felt like she ruined things again and sadly, before she could even arrive at Bellas, she was hit by a drunk driver and everything around her went black. Nothing was in the favor of the woods anymore.

When Jayden got the call from the Sheriff he was expecting it to be about Riley but instead it was his wife. At the news as if he could be any more frazzled for the night he began to panic as he ran for the truck and drove to the hospital. What else could go wrong?

When Jayden arrived the doctors didn't allow him to let him walk in the ER with her. "Dr. Woods. We're doing everything we can for her but the right side of her brain is swelling. With your constant, the only way to keep her stable is if we induce her into a coma." He said as he looked at Jayden and then Riley eventually ran in with Bella. "What's wrong with mom?" She asked as Riley hugged her close.

Jayden agreed whole heartedly with their decision as professionals and gave them written consent. With Aly hanging in the balance for the countless time since they had been s couple he began to pace. Well this was great, his son was gallivanting somewhere, his daughter was labeled as disabled and his wife was rapidly approaching an end and this wasn't the first time. It was enough to make a grown man brake into tears but he didn't, he refused.

Riley walked over to his father and was to afraid to reach out to him but he did. He tapped his shoulder and the tears were still in his eyes. "Daddy?" He whispered and then went and hugged him close. He needed his dad more then ever right now. It's because of him Lilly was disabled and his mother was nearing an end. It was all his fault and the guilt was enough to make him break out into tears. "I wish I wasn't born. This is all my fault daddy I'm sorry." Riley gave in and cried against his father for what felt like hours. He was utterly disgusted with himself.

At that moment all the anger Jayden had towards his son instantly dissipated. He knew what it was like to feel the guilt for someone else's fault and he didn't want his son to go through that. "It's not your fault Riley, in life sometimes you don't have control over which cards your dealt. None of this is your fault, it happened by chance. We'll get through this, I promise."

Riley continued to cry and stayed hugging his father close as his breathing became shorter and heavier as did his crying. He hated this guilt and he wouldn't live with himself if he lost his mother. He can't live with himself now. He was disgusted with himself and he just wanted to be invisible4. "I'm sorry..." He whispered again and hugged him closer.

"Listen to me," His father says in a tender voice making his son look at his now softened expression. "This isn't your fault, things happens, it makes you realize what you two for granted though doesn't it? Until this happened to your sister did you ever once think about how lucky you are to be able to function in your own? And until you watch this happen to your mom did you ever stop to think just how important she is, why it's so important to respect her." Tonight Riley learned an aboad of important life lessons and Jayden was sure the picture was cleared to his son now. "Riley, you're still young and tou're still learning it's not too late to make a change but where you're headed right now is not a good place to be and I need you to understand why I punished you so drastically, not because I hate you, it's because I love you and I want you to be what a man should be not a shallow low life to fit in with the crowds you're better than that."
