Dancing soothes the soul

Landen nodded at Jace and he took his younger brother with him as they drove off to the hospital where they took Lilly. Landen was terribly worried that something bad was going to happen.

Upon the arrival at the hospital, Lilly slowly began to wake up and immediately called for her father. "Daddy." Lilly said as they moved her slowly and her whole body ached. "You're dad's almost here Lilly." Aly whispered as they rushed Lilly to the back to take tests and x-rays. "I want my dad." She said again as she began to cry. "I want my dad and Jace." The doctors listened to the girl and sighed as they looked at her.

When Jayden got to the ER he ran in from the parking lot. The nurse at the front desk told him what room and he ran for it. When he saw Aly he sat next to her as they waited for their daughter's return.

Alyssa stayed in the arms of her husband as she tried not to cry. She didn't know what would happen but she wasn't all that ready to find out.

When Lilly returned, she was asleep in her bed and the doctors looked at the Woods and sighed. "Lilly is suffering a mild concussion but that's the least of our worries. When the impact against the field happened, Lilly seemed to have landed straight on a vital nerve along her spin. Doctor Woods, you know what that means." he said with a sigh as he handed the paperwork they had so far. "If it'll be permanent or temporary, we aren't sure. She won't have feeling in her right leg and possibly, both." he added and Aly squeezed her husbands hand. Lilly didn't deserve this. "Mommy? Daddy?" Lilly called out as she slowly began to wake up and saw her parents with the doctor and then saw her brothers run in and Ebony. "Eby." Lilly said as she slowly held her arms out for a hug. Ebony was always there for her with Arabella being so far away from home.

At the news ajauden was near his own tears. This is why he was terrified night happen. Lilly was his baby girl, she didn't deserve to suffer such dramatic injuries that could be life changing. When the doctor suggested her nerve damage be temporary he held back a sarcastic laugh, spinal nerve damage was never temporary, what was done was done. As Ebony and Landen t sat with her Jayden keft the room to compose himself for his daughter. He didn't need to frighten her after she just woke up. As her father he was devastated because as a doctor he knew she was probably not going to walk again.

Ebony and Landen stayed in bed with Lilly and Lilly leaned against her older brother and cried. She knew what happened because right now, she felt nothing in her legs. "No more dancing. No more anything." She whispered and when Jayden walked back in, she looked at him and held out her arms. She wanted her fathers comfort. This shouldn't have happened. When Landen saw how uncomfortable Riley was, he took him out of the room and for a walk. Landen knew something was up.

Jayden walked over to his daughter and carefully took her in his arms as he held her close. As she cried against his chest he strokes her hair and looked to his wife with helpless eyes. He was a doctor, he was supposed to fix things and this was something even he couldn't fix.

Alyssa saw those helpless eyes from her husband and wanted to fall apart inside. "Mommy." Lilly called out and Alyssa was immediately next to her with Jayden and the two stayed there with their little girl. When Landen came back in with Riley, Riley was rubbing his arm. Landen couldn't believe Riley knew this would happen and didn't put a stop to it. "Never again dad. I'll never be able to dance again." She whispered as she cried and heard her phone go off. She saw Ebony holding it and answering it saying Lilly would call back later. Nothing would be the same.

"Shhh, don't worry about that right now baby." Her father whispers as he continued to stroke her hair. Leaning down he kissed her forehead, she was his main priority.

Lilly shook her head as she clenched his shirt tight in her hands. "Daddy why me? Clary should have been there as my spotter." She whispered as she cried and Riley tensed up. He didn't think all of this would happen.

"I know baby girl, I know." Her father's voice remained soft and his touch gentle. He was a caring man when it came to his children and it did more than brake his heart that this happened to his baby. He wish he could have taken this away from her and put it on himself, she was so young with such a life ahead of her

"Things will be so different daddy. How will I function?" Lilly asked as she continued to cry until she had no tears left and fell asleep in his arms. She was tired and she didn't want to stay awake knowing she felt nothing in her legs. Riley looked at his family and sighed. He really should have stopped all of this but he didn't speak up.

When Lilly fell to sleep Jayden watched her for the longest time before he got up from her bed. Walking out he went to compose himself again and this time he cried. He saw this happen to other people he never dreamed it would happen to him and his daughter most importantly.

Alyssa knew her husband was crying so she walked out with him and hugged him from behind as he cried. She kissed his shoulder to try and comfort him as she fought back tears of her own. She was going to be the strong one this time. She honestly didn't imagine this to happen.

When Jayden felt Aly's presence he quickly recomposed himself.. She didn't need to see him like this. He felt guilty, the number of people he helped and loves he saved and he couldn't help their own child, he felt like a failure.

"Jayden stop." Alyssa whispered as she kissed his shoulder again. "You're not a failure. I know it's hurting you but we just have to adapt with our baby girl Jay. There's nothing we can do and we just have to make the best out of this." She whispered. She hugged him tighter and sighed. "Don't be so hard on yourself."

Jayden heaved a heavy sigh and nodded to his wife, he knew she was right but it was still hard for him both as a parent and a medical profession to accept. "There is no best of this Aly," he whispered. "The rest of her life has been decided for her."

Aly sighed as she pulled away from her husband. "Don't give up." She whispered. "I know her life has been decided but it isn't over Jay. We need to help her live out her dreams even with this obstacle." She whispered then looked at her daughters room. "When you find hope again, you know where to find me." She whispered and walked into the room yet again where she talked with Landen and Ebony.

Jay took a deep breathe and soon after followed after his wife. Returning to the bedside of Lilly he remained there long after everyone else had gone. He watched the young girl sleep.

When Lilly woke up in the middle of the night, she looked over at her father and smiled. "Hey daddy." She whispered and curled up close against him. "Everything will be okay. We just have to make the best of it." She whispered with a smile. She would get through this. She would be okay.

Jay nodded and held her close, kissing her forehead again. "I know baby." He whispers he was proud of her for being mature with the situation but he could never ask her too.

Lilly smiled softly and stayed against Jayden as she sighed and watched as the sun came up. "I don't want Jace in here..." She whispered as she sighed and stared at her lap. "I don't want him to see me like this." She added. She knew she was being a terrible best friend for that.

Jayden nodded understandingly. "Okay baby/" he says slowly and gently getting out of her bed. As a habit he liked over to the monitor and saw them stablished and that left him relieved. Jayden knee his daughter was going to be here for a long time while they ran more tests to find out exactly what was wrong, so he was going to treat her just like he had her mother. Once they moved her to a private room in the residential spot of the hospital he gave her the same luxuries of nicer pillows and blankets and brightened the room with flowers before he brought her breakfast:.

Lilly enjoyed how her father tried to make her feel at home while she stayed at the hospital and it'd been awhile since she talked to Jace. She looked at her phone when her father left to et something and sighed as she decided to call her best friend, hoping he would answer. Riley told her he had a girlfriend now to keep him occupied at school but Lilly didn't want to believe it. She just wanted to talk to him and knew she would end up crying over the phone.

Jace, now fully recovered from his own injuries went back to his normal routine. Well, as normal as normal could get without Lilly, he now understood what Se went through when it was him and he felt bad about it. At school kids would come up and ask if Lilly was alright but he couldn't answer their question as much as he wanted to. He knew nothing and that worries him. One day the class as a whole asked Landen and Jace could se by the pain in his eyes and the way he shook his head it wasn't good. When Jace's phone rang he jumped to answer it,

Lilly had already begun to start crying long before Jace answered and when he did, she sighed but smiled. "Hey best friend..." She whispered as she looked at her lap. "Can you stop by this afternoon?" She asked hoping he would. He deserved to know and well, right now she needed her best friend more then ever.
