Lilly smiled as she looked at her parents then began to read her paper. "My hero or well heros are my mother and father. Jayden and Alyssa Woods. My mom battled cancer for many years in her life and just knowing how strong she was to pull through it all each time, makes me realize how strong she was. She made a mistake and thought she lost us all, but because of her recovery, were all together. My father stuck by my mothers side while she had cancer since high school. He gave up football for my mother and took on a job he thought fit him best, and it does. He became a doctor and saves those who need it. My parents aren't perfect, but they are strong. Try overcame every obstacle that came to them and I know they will overcome all the rest that will be thrown at them. Their love for each other gives me hope and in my eyes, they are my heros. I haven't meet anyone as strong as them." She read and saw her mother crying and smiling. Lilly smiled at her parents and knew what she read touched their heart.

While Lilly read her essay to her parents Jayden listened carefully and the smile on his face never once did face. He knew the kids looked up to him But never like that. It meant a lot to him.

Lilly was pleased with her essay and the fact that she put that smile on her parents face. She walked back over to Jace as everyone else went and finally, the last two to go were Jace and Riley. He was finally able to come back to school and he was nervous about reading his paper out loud. Lilly could see it. "Can you go before him?" Lilly whispered with Jace with a smile. She wanted to help her brother.

Jace sighed but nodded, he didn't particularly have kindness for her brother and would have loved to watch him be humiliated. However because Lilly asked he agreed and went forward but to her surprise he wrote his paper on her and how much of a great friend was over the years.

when Lilly was helping Riley get ready, he told her to listen to Jace because she wasn't paying attention. When she heard her name, her heart froze and she looked over at her best friend as he read it. Tears formed at her eyes and she wanted to cry. He thought of her as his hero? He was crazy for that.

When Jace saw her smile he returned it and when he finished he took her into a hug. When he pulled away he went to sit down with the rest of the group.

Lilly was at a loss of words with what she heard her best friend read. She stood next to her brother and he began to read his essay. "My heros are my parents for many reason but also my siblings. I look at my sister Arabella who is adopted and see how strong she is and proud she is to be adopted. Both my older siblings went through a lot when our family hit rock bottom, and then still having faith in my parents makes me realize they're strong and also my heros because of it weren't for them, our family would be broken." Riley read and Lilly smiled at her brother. She was proud of him and when he finished, she walked with him to sit down and she sat next to Jace, resting her head on his shoulder.

Jace felt comforted by her presence as they listened to Landen finished his speech on the importance of every day heroes. When he finished the crowd applauded and the bell convi entry rang for next class. By the end old the day Jace was exhausted but was determined to make if do the game to watch Lilly preform.

When school was over, she quickly meet up with Jace before she had to go with the team to get ready. Her hair was curled and she wore bright red lipstick, all part of their uniform for the team. "Hey, if you're not feeling good you can go home. I know its hard on you right now." She explained to him with a wide smile. "Thanks for making my day today with your essay." She added but then heard her girls calling her. "Gotta run." She stated and kissed his cheek before she ran off with the other to the dance room. Tonight was the big night, and she was scared.

Jace shook his head when she gave him permission to leave. While she was right, it was hard for him right now he wasn't going to miss her big moment that she has worked so hard for. He was excited and happy for her and wanted to see her experience it himself.

Finally, the game began and Lilly was in the front of the entire squad on the blechers, next to the band as they cheered along with the cheerleaders for their team. They all got up soon however, and went to get ready for their first halftime show performance. Lilly was extremely nervous but when she saw her family and her best friend there, she tried to calm down as much as she could. She would get through this and have an awesome performance.

Jace smiled when he saw her in the front and so did the rest of the gang. This was her big moment and they were all proud of her and her achievements. As expected she blew everyone out of the water with her starting performance with the rest of the team was near perfection, it wasn't a surprise to anyone who knew her that was watching her. For Jay that was the moment he watched his baby girl start to transform into a young woman and for Jace, a new feeling began to emerge.

Lilly was thrilled with how well their performance went and when they finished, they walked over back to the bleachers and she sat with everyone again. She was happy with the performance and when the game ended, she was dismissed and went over to go hug her family then hugged Jace. "How'd I do?" She asked her best friend with a bright smile.

Jace gave her a thumbs up and hugged her gently. He was proud of her like everyone else. He had no doubts she would do well and she deserved this positive attention. After awhile Jace decided to leave her house because he was exhausted.

Lilly enjoyed this time with her family but when she saw Jace leave, she excused herself and went after him to walk with him. "Hey." She whispered with a smile. "Thanks for coming. I can tell dad to give you a ride home instead of you walking." She told him with a bright smile. She wanted to take off all this make up.

Jace shook his head to her offer but smiled at her thanks. "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it." While she might have been in a rush to remove her make up he thought it made her look nice.

Lilly smiled but then held his hand. "Jace, I insist dad takes you home. If not let me grab my jacket and I'll walk with you." She told him and smiled. She didn't want him to go alone.

Jace laughed softly and smiled at the feeling of her palm against his own. "Walking never killed anyone, let's go,"He says waiting for her to return with her jacket so they could walk back to his house together. Walking home wasn't going to other him, it was good exercise and he was tired of the stiff feeling from laying in bed for days.

Lilly nodded and ran to grab her jacket then went to go tell her parents and ran back over to walk with Jace so he made it home safe. She held his hand as they walked. "So, that essay really got to me." She told him and laughed softly.

"Oh it did not, shut up." He says with his same teasing tone as always. He pushed her slightly and continued walking while holding her hand. "I couldn't think of anyone else really." He admits looking towards the ground when he said it as they continued walking.

Lilly felt a little hurt by his last statement and nodded. "Ah, so I was your last resort." She commented and stayed quiet as they continued walking and upon arriving to his house, she slowly let go of his hand. "I'll um, I'll see you tomorrow." She whispered with a soft smile. "See ya." She added and turned to walk off back home even if she was scared to walk home alone. She never did at night. She really just wanted to cry. The fact that she was basically Jaces last resort for the essay hurt but she needed to get over it.

When Jay saw Lilly walk back inside he smiled and headed to the shower. When he finished he came down and took her into a hug and kisses her head. "I love you." He whispers to his daughter with a soft smile.

Lilly smiled and nodded. "I love you too." She said and kissed her fathers cheek then went up to shower then went and laid down to go to sleep. She was utterly exhausted.

The next morning Jayden was up before everyone else in the house. He had an early flight to catch for work. He would be gone for a week for a medical conference in D.C. Right before he had to leave the kids came down the stairs for breakfast, giving them both s hug he turned to Aly and kissed her. "Behave for your mother." Jayden says with a stern look to the twins. A few moments later his expression softened and he told all three he loved them.

Alyssa told her husband by and watched as he left. She hated when he attended conferences because of what happened the first time he left her but with the twins around, it was easier for her. They enjoyed their time together and when Jayden left, they all watched movies.
