Kain shook his head "We can't attend, I won't risk your safety for others. Absolutely not" He said, his tone adamant. "What do you suggest then my queen?" He asked, looking at her.
-
Jay sighed. "Is there any place they can do to get away from everything? What would happen if he stops doing his king stuff?" That thought popped into her head after.

Astrid frowned “Eric and Jay could take them. He is your second in command after all.. it’s not fair they have meet their mates and are going to be kept from them…”

Eric looked down at her “he does have a cabin away from everything he hasn’t been to in a long time..”

Kain hadn't thought of that. "That could work. I'll speak to them. Right now, why don't you get some rest. You're still recovering from that silver blade love" He said, standing from the chair. He wanted to kiss her forehead but settled for a rumble instead. "I'll be right outside" He added, heading to the door.
-
Jay hummed in thought as she heard that. "Maybe we should stick them out there until they figure this out" She said, originally going for a joke but realized it probably wasn't such a bad idea.

Astrid looked up at him “please come back after your done with Eric…” She however just curled up and was out in seconds.

Eric looked down at her “they may need it..right now they both just need to calm back down.”

Kain looked back at her with a soft smile. "Of course love" He said, before walking out of their room. He noticed Eric and Jay off to the side and walked over. "I have a favor to ask you two." He said, walking over to them, not hearing their conversation.
-
Jay looked over as the door opened and shut. "Yes?" She asked, hearing Kain's words.

Kain looked at them both. "I need you two to lead the unmated clan members to the next few meetings. Astrid isn't ready for it." He told them. "She's going to be out of commission for a while until her shoulder heals and the silver is gone." He informed them. "Other than that, everything will remain the same. Jay, you are more than welcome to move in here. You can take Eric to get your things" He said, his tone was non-negotiable. "I'll see you two later" Kain added, turning and walking back towards their room. He'd spent the next however long on the couch, watching over his wounded mate, keeping his hands to himself even if it pained him.
-
Jay heard his words and could only nod. "Yes my king" She said the formal response because he still seemed stressed and Jaylin certainly did not want to add to it.

Astrid had been pretty much sleeping for the last few days and finally seemed to be mostly awake today, the silver slowly working through her system. She was still exhausted and didn’t have her wolf though which had been putting her more on edge, getting snappy about little things and nearly bursting into tears at others. Without one’s wolf it was like half their personality was missing and it wasn’t easy to process even more so alone.

She had hung out with Jay off an on for a few hours the last couple days but Kain had never left the couch just staring them down like Astrid might leave otherwise. She needed to shower and get up but had barley even left the bed, clearly neither of them were handling this well left alone.

-

Jay walked out and over to Eric “we have got to do something.. they are not cooping alone.. she’s yet to get out of bed and and is getting really snappy and I don’t think he’s stopped staring at her..”

Kain had basically sat on the couch in various positions over the last few days. He didn't want to leave her and he couldn't help her the way he wanted. That left him with the option of just watching over her. He was in overprotective mate mode, and the only ones allowed in were Jay and Eric. He couldn't keep Jay away, Astrid would kill him and usually Eric came too. Kain hoped that by staring at her, when her wolf came back the bond would just reinstate itself.
-
"Let's talk to them. It's time to bring up the cabin" Jay said, looking at Eric after she'd left the room.

Jay looked up at him “do you think it’s going to go over well.”

Astrid whined with an annoyed huff “Kain are you just going to sit… it’s been days!” She sat up in the blankets still curled up in his hoodie but was clearly agitated

Kain snorted looking at her. "Yes. I am. I told you before that I'd chain you to my side. I can't chain you right now thanks to Luca, so I'm doing the next best thing, watching and making sure no one else can hurt you" He crossed his arms as he leaned back on the couch. "You haven't left the bed either so I'm not the only guilty party here love" He added, his own agitation increasing.
-
Jay sighed, she couldn't believe this was happening to her friends. Hopefully this cabin works for them.

Eric sighed “I’m just concerned with the two of them alone… I can feel Kain’s irritation rising just as much as hers. I don’t want them to come to a fight about it..”

Astrid glared at him “I’m the one who got hurt Kain and was alseep until this morning.”

Kain huffed looking at her, matching her glare. "I know you got hurt! And there is nothing I could do about it. I can't even touch you. This way, you'll never get hurt again because I'll make sure" He all but growled out the words. "I'm supposed to protect you, to help and to love you. Right now, all I know how to do is just watch you" His eyes flashed between red and dark brown several times during his words before settling on dark brown as he took a deep breath in and out.
-
She sighed as well. "Something needs to break though. Maybe being on their own, surviving on their own, they can sort this out." Jay couldn't imagine not being able to feel the full mate bond and not being able to touch Eric. Not having her wolf didn't help Astrid either right now.

Astrid glared at him her voice raising “all you do is sit there Kain! You won’t talk to me, you won’t even attempt to make me feel better. I’m all alone and you’re 5 feet from me.” She snapped but the tears began welling up in her eyes.

Eric flinched hearing them yelling “Jay… how bad is a werewolf without their wolf… the medics are concerned how long it’s taking..”

Kain huffed, throwing his hands in the air. "What do you want me to say?! I don't know what to do! Does that make you feel better?" He snarled. He paused, seeing the tears in her eyes. "Eric!" He called for his second. He needed to leave the room before he made things worse but he refused to leave her alone. He paced back and forth, waiting. He needed to punch something, to rip something, to vent this frustration out.
-
Jay sighed, looking at Eric. "It's like missing half of your personality. The wolf helps keep us in line. They don't allow us to say things to hurt our mate and they won't let us hurt them. Not being able to touch Kain is also not helpful. If we can get her into nature, that might help bring back the wolf but I don't know for sure." Jay said.

Astrid started actually crying when he snarled at her, it was the first time any of them had seen tears from her before and she looked truly hurt. She just stood finally fuming in anger “you aren’t even trying!” and walked into the bathroom slamming the door not wanting to even look at him anymore.

She turned on the water and took a long hot shower finally stepping out again only to see Eric instead still of Kain and just angrily curled up in the blankets, concerningly not wearing his hoodie anymore.

Eric hurried inside abandoning the conversation “yes Kain…?” He paused though seeing the tears and his anger level

Kain growled low as she slammed the bathroom door shut. "Stay with her. I need to do something" He ground out. Not giving the man a chance to call him back, Kain left the bedroom, slamming the door behind him. He saw the tears that she had on her face and it made him upset that she was crying but also angry because he didn't know how to stop it. It was like the bond had unraveled a little during their fight. Kain ran outside and to the trail, his footfalls heavy as he moved. He came to the same tree he'd punched the last time and roared at nothing as his heart, if had been beating, broke and he fell to his knees with tears streaming down his face. He'd yelled at her, he'd snarled and growled and fought like a caged tiger. He couldn't even give her a hug, a kiss or anything to show he was sorry. He could say it, but it wouldn't do anything.
-
Jay walked into the room with Eric, seating herself on the bed near Astrid's curled up figure. She saw Kain's hoodie sitting at the bottom part of the bed discarded. "Astrid?" She said gently.

Astrid had managed to actually braid her hair which was more than she’d done in days since waking but had simply curled back up in the blankets. She just muttered “what..” Her wolf was slowly attempting to make a return but she was like a caged animal behind a wall fighting for survival. It was only however making Astrid more temperamental as half her thoughts were in fight mode.

Eric looked at the two of them growing more concerned, if they were breaking down into yelling at each other this situation wasn’t working

Jay sighed. "Something needs to change here. You need to get back to nature, that should help your wolf relax enough to come back" She said. "And fighting with your mate isn't helping either of you." Jay added. "Eric knows of a cabin out in the woods away from everything. We think you two should go there and try working things out." Jaylin finished her words.
-
Kain had finally gained some control over his emotions and sighed. This fighting wasn't helping and he knew it. He had to apologize, without touching, and maybe the watching every second wasn't the most conducive at the moment. He made his way up the stairs before pausing at their door.

Astrid just rubbed her face in frustration but you could see the mounting anger in her features “I don’t want to go sit alone in some cabin with him just staring at me!” He won’t do anything but stare at me I can’t even get a conversation out of him!” The tears appeared to be welling up again as it had become apparent she had lost all control on her emotions.

Eric sighed “It would be for the best… you two have to work out something…” he didn’t want to admit he was struggling to handle the outbursts of both their king and queen, the whole clan was on edge.

Kain took that moment to step into the room. His eyes were averted from hers and his shoulders were slumped. "Love, we should go there. I can sense the clan on edge and its going to make things worse. I promise not to raise my voice and I will keep my eyes off you. Just please?" He was practically begging, a dried tear track on one cheek. He had acted like his father, all yelling and no listening.
-
Jay looked at Eric before looking back at Astrid. "Try it. Please?" She asked, adding puppy dog eyes to her words. It worked when they were kids and she prayed it would work now.

Astrid looked more ready to fight someone and burst into tears than anything “fine.” She muttered angrily “not like the three of you wouldn’t force me anyway.” She seemed to have approached the anger stage of her grief though as she was getting snappy even with her best friend.

Eric nodded “I think the walk there will do you both good.. I’m sorry Kain but you two can not come back until you have something figured out”

Kain looked almost desperate as he heard her agree. He grabbed two suitcases and set one on the bed carefully for her before filling his with basic clothes. He didn't need much and he kept the cabin stocked even if no one knew it. He'd actually considered moving there with Astrid if he couldn't fight his parents. It had a simple floor plan with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shared common room. He looked over at Eric, hearing the caveat and nodded. "You're acting King and Queen of the clan. I'm not sure when we'll be back" Kain said, zipping up his suitcase and waited patiently for Astrid.
-
Jay was hurt but she knew her friend was upset and angry. She slipped off the bed and headed over to Eric.

Eric rubbed her arm tucking her into his side “we have everything under control Kain..”

Astrid just disgruntly packed some things and stashed Kain’s hoodie in her bag, even if she was mad at him she wasn’t going to risk needing it

Kain had to resist the urge to take her hand. "We'll be back eventually." He said, before leading the way out of their room, down the stairs and out into the woods. "The trail to the cabin actually branches from the running trail, but I don't maintain it so others won't go looking." He mentioned to Astrid, keeping his eyes in front of him. He said he would stop staring and he meant it.
-
Jay rested her head on his side with a groan. "Those two better work this out" She huffed.
