In the books though, only Annabeth was allowed to have a cell phone for emergencies, and the computer in the Big House was rarely used except notably in the first book of HoO.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, you can think of the rp as a completely different reality, where the books never did happen, which would explain the lack of roman influence in camp.

The RP is in the same universe as the books. It's just about 30-40 years into the future so most of the canon characters aren't around but the books happened.
