Fantasy Broken I bow to the Beast inside

He frowned and shook his head. “We should be fine. You’re gonna go out that day. Liam is taking you on a food run. It’s like a 2 hour drive there… you wouldn’t be the one in trouble anyway.” He told her quietly.

She scoffed a little and shook her head. “Darling does it matter? They’re all just collateral damage.” She muttered, reaching for his hand. “Come on, we should go to bed as well. Long day and all that.”

Max gave a small nod and sighed heavily "Alright then. Would it be you who gets in trouble?" She asked worriedly

Joseph layed awake that entire night unable to get Carmen's face out of his mind. The pained expression, the way her eyes slowly lost life. It was all feeling like a massive weight crushing him from the inside slowly.

He shook his head and sighed. “Danny…. He’s the one that turned you.” He muttered, taking her to get food and getting back late at night, heading upstairs and straight to bed with her, holding her a little tighter over the night after the events of the day.

Jamie was awake first in the morning and downstairs making coffee, looking at Joseph heading down. “How are you uh… how you doing?” He asked him, passing him a mug. “Do you know who she was?” He asked him.

Max woke up in Serge's arms the next morning and yawned softly. She cuddled in close to him sighing quietly as she traced patterns on his chest. Something felt off to her but she couldn't quite place it.

Joseph came downstairs early that morning and poured himself a cup of coffee. "I'm fine.." he muttered not wanting to let on what was really wrong. Though when Jamie gave him a knowing look he gave a heavy sigh "Follow me.." he muttered not wanting to be anywhere near Cassandra.

He just nodded and followed him, wandering out to the garden and passing him a cigarette. “Talk.”

He frowned as he started waking up realising max was shaking him. “I love you my darling but it is so early” he grumbled

Max frowned softly but continued to shake him "Serge something is wrong....I can feel it." She said softly to him

Joseph declined the cigarette for once before giving a heavy sigh "I don't feel right, it feels like I have this heavy weight crushing me from the inside. And I can't stop seeing that woman's face, it was like she knew me." He explained quietly to his blood brother.

He frowned and leaned back watching him. “Like she was your actual mate?” He asked him frowning, trying to help lead him in the right direction.

He frowned and shook his head. “Im sure it’s nothing. Go back to sleep five more minutes.” He grumbled, throwing an arm over his head.

Joseph frowned and nodded softly "But Cassandra.....she...she is my mate." He said quietly sipping his coffee before taking a deep breath "I love her..."

Max frowned more taking deep breaths as she closed her eyes tight. Quickly though she got up and rushed to the bathroom throwing up into the toilet trying to calm herself

He frowned. “And how many people have you taken out? It’s in the hundreds. So why else would this one make you feel like that huh?” He pointed out, finishing off his cigarette and going inside once he saw Cassandra in the window

Carmen woke up and slowly made her way downstairs, collapsing onto the couch and frowning over at Charlie sat at the breakfast bar. “How was he around in the 80s?”

Serge heard her and got up this time, grumbling a little but went to see her and crouched behind her rubbing her back in circles. “You okay?” He asked once she was done.

Max shook her head softly and pressed her face to the cool toilet "Something is wrong Serge...very wrong." She slurred

Charlie looked up at Carmen as she came down "Huh? How was who in the 80s? Afraid I'm not that old sweetheart." He said giving a small cheeky grin trying to lighten her mood

“Cut the crap Hunnam. I’m talking about Joe. What the hell was the photo you showed me last night?” She questioned him.

He frowned and shook his head. “A little more information would be great. With you in general? What the fuck do you mean?!” He muttered not in the mood to deal with her being vague

Charlie sighed heavily and moved to sit with her on the couch "You ever hear of the Cambell Bowers?" He asked rubbing a hand over his face when she shook his head "They're high ranked. Like half of them occupied the council at one point. Joe...he got taken in by them when his parents died young. They were Quinn's also high ranked. But they were taken out, Joe is the last survivor. They've got near immortality." He explained

Max frowned some holding her head tight "My head...its so painful...I can't....I'm seeing black spots." She whimpered before going to puke again

She frowned and watched him. “How old is he really?” She asked him confused. Once she had him back they would need to sit down and have a long chat.

He frowned and shouted for someone to come give him a hand “Hey hey it’s alright… probably a migraine love. Let me get you back to bed with a bucket and water. Quiet day today.” He promised, trying to soothe her

Charlie rubbed the back of his neck some before giving a heavy sigh "200? Give or take a few years. Look no one else knows...they know about Jamie but not how far this goes back. Cassandra has hand her hooks in them for nearly 100 years."

Max shook her head gently as she started to sob "This isn't a migrane, something is wrong!" She sobbed as she clung onto him tightly

She frowned and stared at the coffee table. “I don’t… why wouldn’t he tell me?” She mumbled, rubbing her face a little and lay back restarting to feel a little off while she was still recovering and she’d used all her wnergy getting down the stairs, laying back to get some rest.

“Shh Shh alright love… hey! I need some help in here!” He yelled out the door, seeing Charlie finally come up. “Migraine tablets anti nausea and loads of water and a bucket.” He told him

Charlie gave a heavy sigh and helped her lay down "He doesn't like talking about it. Doesn't make it better but he hates it." He explained before getting up hearing Serge's yells.

Max held onto him tightly before Charlie came back with everything "Don't leave okay." She whimpered

“I’m not going anywhere okay?” He promised, lifting her up and carrying her back to bed, thanking Charlie for the help and waiting tik he left before helping her get settled, “try to get some rest love. I still want you going with Liam today.” He told her quietly, kissing her head and staying close to her

Jamie had managed to get out of there while she was busy working on her latest reach and was making his way to the council as quick as he could. His father had made contact and insisted this would be worth his while.

Max gave a small nod and clung to him as she tried to relax. She finally fell asleep but woke up a few hours later not seeing anyone there. Her headache was still there but not as severe as before. She glanced over seeing a note on her nightstand from Serge saying they had left for the meeting.

Charlie stood infront of the council later that day giving a heavy sigh. Danny was helping Carmen stay up but she was still weak and could barely stand "Thank you for seeing us.....we have a situation and we need help." He said before explaining the entire situation to them.

Liam knocked on her door just a little later and smiled. “Hey, you ready to go get food?” He asked her “I got a bucket in the car and loads of water. If you need me to pull over just say… they’ve gone on a job.” He told her

Carmen was leaning heavier and heavier on Danny until they offered her a chair and she half fell into it.

Jamie arrived shortly after them and headed into the meeting, knocking for just a moment. “Well… you’re right about one thing. This is rather interesting.” He muttered to his father taking in the people in front of him

Max gave him a small nod "Yeah let me get dressed." She said softly before going to the restroom to change. She came back and met him at the car giving a heavy sigh "So what do we do on a food run?"

Charlie frowned deeply when they seemed to ignore him "Hey! This witch is threatening to start a war against the humans! Forcing some to change unwillingly and making our kind do the bidding and you don't fucking care?! Look at this woman!" He yelled pointing to Carmen "She is near death because we cannot fight them alone, they're too powerful for just us to take on!"

Jamie turned to look at him and frowned. “Trust me I know. She’s lost her damn mind. Why do you think I’m here?” He pointed out. “For your information Joseph is safe as he can be right no- she’s dead. She was dead yesterday,” he frowned pointing at carmen who just about looked up at him frowning.

“That’s… he was there yesterday… he…” she stopped when Danny just tapped her on the shoulder, still leaning on him.

Liam smiled some “We go to a Walmart a couple hours away. All they got round here is small stores. We need a mega store.” He told her. “That’s why we take the van. We gotta stock up for a few weeks.” He told her smiling. “Twelve mouths to feed plus a couple teenagers who are always hungry, takes a lot.” He smiled at her. “How you settling in with Frenchie?”

Charlie frowned deeper when he saw Jamie sitting there. He glanced at Carmen shaking his head some "Looks like she didn't. We need our alpha back, she needs her mate. The fact that you're here and know whats happening makes me fucking sick. How can you be here and be okay with what she is doing?!"

Max gave a nod "Ah okay, makes sense. How do you guys pay for it all?" She asked closing her eyes when her head started to pound a bit "Good I guess? I'm still getting the hang of shifting." She said softly taking deep breaths to try and help the pain.

Jamie frowned and shook his head. “You don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you think I have had much choice in this? But if she’s alive this changes things…. You have a future with Joe.. if I can get him out of this in time…. Any chance you lot can stay in the area?” He asked them, looking back to his father. “I’ll sort it.” He assured him and nodded to Danny before leaving. He needed to be quick though. Based off how she was looking, if he didn’t hurry up she would be a goner.

He smiled. “Credit card. Most of us work from home. You happened to mate with the scrounged.” He teased her frowning when he saw her face. “Here, lay this over your face. Like a blackout curtain.” He told her gently, passing her his hoodie.

Charlie frowned deeper but gave a small nod "Alright, we can stay for a a couple days." He muttered before turning to Danny and Carmen "Lets get her somewhere safe." He said quietly before picking her up gently and leaving the room

Max nodded softly and thanked him as he gave her the hoodie. She placed it over her eyes and frowned softly as the headache started to receed.

Cassandra groaned as Max's vision went black shaking her head. She was sure that she would have been with the rest of the pack. She needed to find the other ranked wolves and take them out but she couldn't now. She looked over when she heard the door open and saw Jamie coming through "Where have you been?!"

He looked over and smiled a little. “Just went for a walk. Got a coffee. Got you some flowers.” He told her, passing them over and kissed her cheek. “Why don’t you sneak into my room later? Spend some time together for once. I don’t think being apart is helping us.” He murmured, smiling at her.

Serge frowned when they got to the hotel and called max, smiling when she picked up. “Hey there beautiful, how you feeling? We’re gonna be gone a little longer than planned now. But I’m gonna see if I can come home tonight. If not it’s gonna be a couple days.” He murmured.
