Max frowned as the watched the other guy "No! No stay away!" She yelled before screaming as she felt fangs sink into her neck and a chunk taken out.

Danny looked to Serge after the change "She would need to change eventually. You'd be like this again within the month." He explained before picking Max up and laying her next to him

Charlie looked at Carmen sipping his coffee "Serge's mate, stupid bullshit he got himself into." He muttered watchimg her some "How are you feeling?"

Carmen frowned and shrugged “numb. He’s not dead he’s not rejected me… he’s been taken…. It… I want him home and safe.” She mumbled, sitting down and taking a glass of water.

He eventually passed out, trying to hold onto her as much as possible, scared to death she would run as soon as she woke up

Charlie gave her a small nod before going over to her. He cupped her face and nade her look up at him "We will find him okay? I will make sure of it." He told her seriously just as Danny came down.

Danny came down to clean up afterwards and sighed heavily "We've either got a new member or we're about to loose one." He muttered shaking his head some "She's rejecting him....I had to change her to save them both but....we'll have to see what happens when they wake up."

She just nodded and thanked him, looking over at danny. “Well shit. French is was never gonna find a normal mate was he though?” She pointed out,

Serge started coming around a few hours later to noises in the room and looked up frowning seeing it was max shouting at him for him to wake up.

Danny shrugged some and gave a nod "This is true." He muttered before getting started on food for everyone else.

Max woke up hours later freaking out when she felt the bite mark gone. She quickly got up and rushed to the door when she saw Serge still asleep but it was locked from the outside. She grew angry and turned her attention back to Serge "Wake up! Serge wake up goddamn it!" She yelled watching as he stirred "What have you done to me?!"

She frowned some. “I think… once we have Joe back…. I think I need to take him far away from this pack…. And not tell anyone where we go…. Cause I just want him safe.” She told Danny quietly.

He frowned and watched her. “I didn’t do anything. Look at me…. Look at me. No. Stop. Max just stop rushing and look. At. Me. What are you feeling when you’re looking at me?” He asked her, sitting up carefully

Danny frowned deeply as he listened to her shaking his head some "And you think making him a lone wolf would do that? Carmen....Joe was a lone wolf for a while before us, trust me, it won't be good for you or him." He said truthfully to her.

Max frowned softly and finally took a good look at him. She stood there for a moment just watching him and feeling the world fall away from her. She walked over to him and stood right infront of him "If feel....scared....but when I see you...I feel safe, like I know you will not hurt me. I feel as though I have loved you since I was a child; all my life." She said truthfully before cupping his face "What is this?"

She shook her head. “Like being with you all has helped?! Like you all were able to stop him from getting caught up with her again?! We are going far away when I finally get him home. And that’s final.” She told him seriously.

He nodded and frowned some, placing his hands over hers. “Mates…. You could call it destiny or fate or soulmates but it’s a connection that is pre-designed. We all have one. Weres and other supernatural beings feel theirs stronger.” He murmured feeling everything wash away when he felt her finally accepting it.

Max listened to him and gave a small nod "I'm still scared though.." she said softly before pressing her forehead against his "Am I..am I like you now?" She asked quietly

Danny shook his head as he listened to her "We did everything we could to keep him safe damn it! She is another kind of evil that we couldn't stop. But fine, take him away, take him and see how bad of an idea it is." He told her just as seriously

He chuckled a little and shook his head. “No no no… it doesn’t make you crazy… just gives you abilities far beyond a humans.” He told her gently. “Try not to think about it yet. These things are all good. They are helpful.” He promised her.

Charlie frowned as she just walked off. “Did you need to do that right now? Was it that hard to just nod and agree for the minute? Then talk sense into her once we have him back?” He muttered and shook his head, going to take a check round the perimeter

Max gave a small nod before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes "Okay.." she whispered before gently pressing her lips to his just wanting to be as close to him as she possibly could right now.

Danny groaned some as Charlie came in and shook his head a bit "This is why I stay unranked." He muttered before pouring himself a drink "You get any kind of scents?"

Carmen was curled up in the front seat of the van, staring out the window and nervously waiting to see if their lead was right. She was a shell now of the person she used to be and barely had any strength left in her by this point, needing him back.

Serge held maxs hand as he woke up, seeing her sat up in bed and reading. “What you thinking about?” He asked her quietly. It hadn’t been easy getting her adjusted to their life but he felt like she was finally getting tjere

Charlie drove their van to the next neighboring town hopeful that this could possibly be it. Their search started about a month after he left. Missing children and young adult reports had sky rocketted in the area. They had gone to three of the towns but to no avail they came up with dead ends,only finding the left overs of what had formerly been their hide away.

Max sat there quietly reading a book over their kind giving a small smile when she heard Serge's voice "Hmm? Just learning more about us." She said softly to him. Things had been rough on her lately. The shifts were agonizing to go through and getting used to having a pack was difficult for her. Most of her time was spent in their room or with Serge, she did her chores but kept to herself for the most part.

He smiled and rolled over the top of her dramatically. “We practically have the place to ourselves today… whatever wil we do with all this space?” He sighed. “We could always go swimming.” He grinned.

She looked over at him frowning some. “Did you bring the iron chain?” She asked him quietly, shivering a little and pulled one of Joseph’s hoodies around her tighter despite it being the middle of summer

Max put her book down and laughed happily at him "Swimming huh? In the pond? Or do you have a lake or pool that you have not shown me?" Shs questioned raising an eyebrow and smirking down at him

Charlie nodded some and sighed heavily "I got everything we need, just try and rest as much as you can okay?" He murmured quietly. Things on him and Danny had been rough, being active alpha and making sure Carmen was kept alive had been stress ontop of stress.

Danny was in the car ahead of them and called back to Charlie, “hey, destination is up here on the right. Cops I spoke to are just waiting on a warrant to get in here… and I can smell him all over the fucking place. Specially at that truck stop for the toilet. They’re here and it’s fresh.” He told him.

Serge chuckled quietly. “There’s a waterfall nearby. It’s really pretty. No fish til you get further upstream.” He told her, tilting his head back and looking up at her, grinning still

Charlie gave a small nod as he spoke on the phone with Danny "Alright sounds good." He said before hanging up. He looked at Carmen and sighed heavily "Danny is saying his scent was everywhere when he checked. He is definitely here. I want you to brace yourself though okay? He will not be the man you love."

Max smiled softly and leant down pressing a kiss to his lips "Mmm alright then, I like that idea." She said softly against his lips while running her hands down his chest gently "I love you.." she murmured quietly

She hummed in response, feeling worse than when they were further away and not understanding why. She got out once they pulled up though and frowned some, waitingg to the side while the two of them bickered and they were waiting for the rest of everyone to arrive but she started hearing voices inside as well and when her ears picked up the sound of Joseph's voice she couldn't help her feet from moving towards the sound, finsing a way to get in there and picking up the pace, walking towards the main source of sound and finally opened a door into a large warehouse like room, seeing him stood there with his back tiwards her, shouting at a couple of teenage boys and another woman stood off to the side. The woman she recognised as Cassandra. Her brain wasn't thinking rationally in that moment and she ran to him, throwing her arms around him tightly "Joseph! Joseph I'm here, I'm here we gotta take you home." She told him hurriedly

Charlie frowned and muttered under his breath when Danny insisted on going over their supplies one more time, looking around for a moment though and freezing "Where did Carmen go?" He asked him

Serge nodded and smiled, kissing her back, "Mmm... I love you too.... We should shift to go there love... You're almost there with it and it will be much quicker... Waiting til the moon forces you to do it is only going to make it harder each time sweetheart." He frowned, taking her hands in his gently. He was sympathetic to the pain it put her in every time but he knew that if she just kept putting it off it would hurt for years to come rather than just another few weeks.

Joseph stood tall as he watched the teens go at eachother screaming at them to do better as they messed up. Cassandra stood off from him with Jamie, her true mate watching over the proceedings to take notes. He frowned as he felt something collide into his side, his brow creasing as he looked down at the woman. His once brown eyes were now black and he had no idea who she was "And who are you?" He asked as he pushed her away. Something about her was definitely familiar, but his brain was so clouded at the moment that he couldn't remember.

Danny looked around when he asked where Carmen was and went wide eyed as they heard yelling inside "Shit. Shit. Shit! She went in without us!"

Max frowned softly but gave a small nod as she took his hands "Can we do it outside?" She asked softly as he led her towards the door. She hated shifting, the pain, the way it made her feel, it was something she was still needing to adjust with.

He just nodded and kept his arm around her, walking out with her and rest his head back against the door as he pulled her in close "Hey... I'm right here okay? I got you I promise." He murmured softly to her, moving to crouch next to her while she got started, smoothing her hair back to try and soothe her, murmuring sweet nothings to her to try and help as well, just letting her take whatever time she needed to.

She frowned as she looked up at him, just shaking her head "No... No don't be stupid... It's me... It's Carmen." She told him desperately, reaching up to cup his face and feeling her heart sink as he just pulled away and made a face at her. "Joe baby you're my mate. We've been together almost 6 years... You... You used to slee-" She got cut off when Cassandra finally spoke up and only then did Carmen acknowledge her over in the corner "You fucking scum!" She snapped at her, heading towards her until with a flick of her wrist Cassandra had signalled for Joseph to take her out. In her normal state, it never would have been easy for him to take her down but right now with almost all of her strength gone, it was only a few seconds before she was collapsed onto the floor and bleeding out, hardly able to breathe, "Joe... Joe.... You don't...." She was choking on her own words when she saw his face change.

Max gave him a small smile and nodded some as she got on the ground. She cried out as it began taking a little less time than previously but still longer than normal. She stood afterwards her red fur bright as the sunlight hit it. She nuzzled her head against his as he shifted giving him a small lick before following him out.

Cassandra went wide eyed as she saw Carmen come in. Quickly as Jamie ran out she made her way over smirking as Joe pushed her away "Darling don't you see? He doesn't want you anymore." She said smirking as she flicked her wrist towards Joe "Kill." She murmured before watching him go.

Joseph pushed the woman away shaking his head "I don't know you..." he said softly still keeping an eye on her. He stood up straight as he got commanded and soon lunged for Carmen tearing into her chest. He pinned her down afterwards ready to go for her throat until he caught wind of her scent. His eyes reverting back to brown and looking at her in complete horror "Carmen? No...Carmen...what are you doing here? Why....no no no!" He said as he felt her start to slip away "Stay with me beautiful please. Oh god Carmen, I'm so sorry.."

She stared up at him frowning, "Its okay.... It's not... your fault." She wheezed, gripping his hand as tight as she could for a minute "You... You..." She couldn't get anymore words out after that and her hand dropped out of his, her eyes glazing over and laying there motionless.

Cassandra stepped over to him and frowned, "Oh Joseph.... Oh ... Look what you've done.... I told you it was too dangerous to go around her.... Come on darling... Let's get you out of here." She coaxed, ushering the two boys out with them as she pulled him up and out of the room before the others arrived.

He stayed close with her and took her straight there, enjoying having her feeling a little better but still worried about her. It wasn't normal for this to take so long but he didn't want to scare her. He shifted back once they arrived at the waterfall and shifted back going straight to get in the water.

Joseph looked at Carmen crying and shaking some. "No....no Carmen please...I'm so sorry.." he cried holding her to him not wanting to leave her at all. He took a shaky breath as he heard Cassandra's voice and snapped back. He left with her but still felt the pull towards Carmen's body.

Max shifted back with some effort but gave a small smile. She jumped in with him andswam over wrapping her body around his "This is a beautiful spot. I should take some photos here sometime." She murmured before kissing him gently

He smiled and pulled her in close, kissing her gently. “Mmm thag would be good. Do I get to be a mermaid?” He chuckled quietly, rubbing a hand through his hair.

Charlie was searching through every room until he heard danny screaming for help in the back, legging it over there with the others and just staring at the two of them in shock. “Why did she come in here alone?” He muttered, frowning when he saw Danny start working “She’s not coming back from that Danny. There’s no wa-“ he frowned when he just cut him off
