She looked up at him smiling a little, managing to pull his face down for a moment and kissing him quickly. “Mmm I love you. I’ve missed the grumpy.” She smiled weakly

He smiled and just nodded, rubbing his hands through her hair

Joseph smiled softly at her and kissed her back gently "I love you, we'll be home soon. And when we get there I'm locking us away in our room forever." He teased

Max smiled happily before getting down to business with him....She lay ontop of him afterwards panting softly but a smile stuck to her face "That was lovely.."

She smiled tiredly and fell asleep again laying up against him while danny walked back in, passing him a sandwich and drink. “Here. Eat. I think we need to get her home. I know it’s risky moving her now but it’s safer at home. We got more room and we are closer to extra help.” He told him seriously.

He chuckled and pulled her face to his. “I love you. We should stay this way… just the two of us… always.” He murmured, kissing her head.

Joseph kept one arm around Carmen thanking Danny as he handed him the food. He placed the drink down and opened the sandwhich wrapping skillfully with one hand "She isn't strong enough yet." He murmured before taking a bite out of the food "One more day, she may be okay by tomorrow." He said with half a mouthful.

Max smiled softly and cuddled into him "You don't ever want children?" She asked softly while tracing patterns on his chest

He shook his head and rest back again, just rubbing her hips “the others will have kids. I could be an uncle… I don’t want my own” he told her frowning.

Danny shook his heqd. “Joe there is no guarantee having her rest here is gonna have her stronger by tomorrow…. She’s been like a yo yo the whole time. First six months was okay but she went so downhill after that and then the attack…. If something were to happen I think it would be better if it happened at home.” He told him.

Joe looked down at Carmen but gave a small nod before looking back at Danny "Alright....just get everything ready and let her sleep a little longer." He said quietly

Max gave a small frown but nodded softly "Oh alright.." she said quietly still drawing patterns on his chest

He smiled tiredly completely oblivious and held onto her tightly. “Mmm you wanna go to the waterfall later? It’s hot today.” He mjmbled

Carmen woke up an hour or so later, looking over at Joe staring at her. “Take a picture.” She mumbled, trying to sit up carefully

Max gave a small nod keeping her eyes on his chest "Yeah that sounds nice."

Joe chuckled softly at her remark "I think I have enough photos of you sleeping." He murmured to her "We're going to move you okay? Get home as fast as we can."

She frowned as it reminded her. “Speaking of… we need to talk…. Long talk.” She panted a little once she was sat up.

He smiled and ran a hand through his hair. “I need to get this cut. It’s too long.” He grumbled a little

Joseph frowned softly but gave a small nod "Alright love." He said quietly before getting her sat up calling for Danny to help him move her

Max nodded some and moved off of him "Mmm you'd look good with a buzz cut." She murmured

He smiled and rest his head back watching her. “You know how beautiful you are?@ he asked her quietly.

She leaned on both of them out to the car, laying down in the back seat once they got there, only lifting her head for him to sit in the back with her.

Max gave a soft smile and kissed his cheek "Oh yeah? I think you're pretty handsome." She said softly

Joseph sat in the back with her running his fingers through her hair "You are so beautiful.." he whispered

She hummed in response and managed to fall asleep prett much straight away but she’d gone from being cold to running a mild fever by the time they got home and she was starting to look pale again.

He smiled some and watched her, trailing his fingers along her arm. “What would you think if we moved into that apartment you used to live in?” He asked her out of the blue

Joseph frowned deeply as he felt her start to get a fever "Danny she has a fever." He said as they got her inside feeling her start to slip "Danny she's slipping!"

Max raised an eyebrow a bit confused as to why he would ask "I mean we could, but what about our pack?"

He shrugged. “Just would be a few minutes away.” He mumbled, playing with her fingers and frowned.

He just nodded and helped him get her upstairs and into their room, “aw jeez she’s bleeding again,” he muttered as they got her hoodie off.

Max gave a small nod "Yeah thats true, but would they be okay with that? Or would they take you out of the pack?"

Joseph frowned helping her get undressed "What do you need?" He asked

Danny shook his head and just had him stand to the side whike he got her settled again and left them to it. “Keep her cool. Make sure she drinks plenty of fluids when she’s awake. See if you can get her to eat.” He told him and walked out to go shower and clean up.

He shrugged. “Won’t know unless I ask.” He pointed out. “I don’t fit in here is that not obvious?”

Joseph gave a small nod kissing her forehead "Thank you Danny." He said quietly before turning his attention to Carmen.

Max gave a small sigh kissing his cheek "Serge they love you. Maybe we can talk about changing ranks." She murmured softly

He shrugged a little and just stared at the ceiling keeping her close for now.

Carmen came around again a couple hours later, looking over at Joseph going through his box of stuff. “How old are you?” She asked him quietly

Joseph looked over at Carmen as she came in and frowned softly "Hey....I'm 28, just like you." He said a bit puzzled as to why she would question his age

Max kept him close smiling some "When do you wanna go to the waterfall?" She asked softly

She shook her head “bullshit… Charlie showed me.” She muttered.

He sighed and pulled himself up. “Let’s go now.” He murmured.

Joseph frowned deeply and cursed under his breath before taking a deep breath "Two hundred....as of this year." He said softly before he got up and brought the box to her "I...my family was high ranked in our world, but they died out quick because of their egos and foolishness. Jamie...his family took me in....our families have an immortality gene. Or atleast almost immortal."

Max nodded some and got up throwing on a baggy shirt before heading down with him.

She frowned and watched him. “You remember… when I got here? … you were gonna tell me … to go away.” She smiled tiredly not really with it yet.

He smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders while he walked with her this time. “There’s a hunt tomorrow night.” He told her quietly. “You gonna join me this time?”

Joseph gave her a small smile "Yeah...then I got a good look at you and I knew I couldn't send you away." He said softly before giving her a quick kiss

Max frowned softly at the mention of a hunt and took a deep breath. She did it once, and it scared her. She sighed heavily before looking up at him "I can try."

She smiled tiredly. “I don’t… I don’t think… kids are on… the table for… a while now.”
She whispered, reaching up and cupping his face.

He frowned and watched her. “What do you mean try? It comes natural once you allow it to. Follow your instincts. Otherwise you’re gonna go stir crazy.” He pointed out.
